John M. Vermillion was a field soldier for more than 20 years. After military service, he worked internationally in various civilian capacities for the next 12 years. Following is a synopsis of "Flathead County", the sequel to "Blue Gunder".

Blue Gunder was a top NFL draft pick and Dallas Cowboy—until a medical matter beyond his control ended his career. Now he’s Sheriff of Flathead County, Montana, married to Dee, the veterinarian behind Blue Skies Veterinary Clinic.
On Halloween night, Blue walks into a scene designed to be remembered: a dead game warden in the northern forest near the Canadian border—three elk arranged in an arrow aimed at the corpse. Hours later, in the far southeast corner of the county, a rancher shows Dee three horses she immediately knows were poisoned.
Two incidents, connected, but how? And they’re only the beginning. As the cruelty spreads and the messages sharpen, Blue and Dee are forced to ask who in Flathead County benefits from fear—especially now that a mega-wealthy newcomer has arrived, buying influence as easily as land. And when Blue unearths a rare earth bombshell, the Feds intervene.

I first bought this book in May 2024, and read it immiediately. Got busy and then didn't write a review,. But I was so impressed with Colonel Vermillion's latest work that I read it AGAIN, after the NOV 2024 election. (The ONLY other book I have ever read twice was Cather in the Rye by JD Salinger. Read in high school in 1971, and then again as an adult.) It is amazing how much this book paralleled the actual US election of 2024- knowing the author wrote this book in 2023. From an unethical US president denying secret service protection to a third party candidate, to assination attempts, etc. Lots of poliitcal intrigue, losts of action, intrigue, suspense. This book moves very fast from Page 1 when intruders break into his Montana home, abduct his wife, nd leave him physically beaten. Pack is obviously an accomplished leader, who has generated fierce loyalty. And it ends with a buff but old 3rd party candidate , former college athlete, who fights an actual boxing duel with a much young boxer who's nickname was the Assassin, to a DRAW! No other spoilers. I sincely hope that this isn't the last JMV fans see of Simon Pack. Back to work Colonel Vermillion.

Simon Pack is no ordinary individual. He is intent on becoming president, and he just might have the ingenuity and smarts to make it happen as a third-party candidate. There’s a whole lot standing in his way, though, starting with Keith Rozen, the incumbent president. There is bad blood between Pack and Rozen, but when Pack’s cabin is put to the torch and his wife is murdered, the would-be candidate finds it hard to believe Rozen went to such extreme measures. Did he, or is it in some other player lurking in the shadows?

This is the final book in the scintillating Simon Pack series. This time around, it’s all on the line, as Pack finds everything he stands for threatened. This story is packed with political intrigue, crackling dialogue, and brilliantly conceived action sequences. It’s every bit as thrilling as anything Tom Clancy ever wrote. It’s hard to predict what’s coming as you turn each page, but one thing is certain: you’re heading toward a climactic conclusion that’s sure to take your breath away.

This read is an amazing political thriller that snatch you from the very first page and doesn't let go until the end. Simon Pack, the resilient protagonist, faces unbelievable challenges as he navigates a dangerous world of political interest and personal disputation. The author's writing is nothing short of excite, mixing a complex and suspenseful narrative that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. The complicated web of deception and betrayal is expertly crafted, drawing me deeper into Pack's world with each twist and turn. For me, the best part of the book is its timely exploration of power and corruption in politics. Through Pack's unbreakable determination to uncover the truth, Vermillion shines a light on the darker aspects of the political landscape, forcing me to confront uncomfortable realities.

What a genious the author of this book!

The main character of the book, Simon, far from being the most normal and common person, not only for his way of being and his way of acting, but for his way of dreaming. His mission is set to become the president, however, and as you can imagine, it is not as easy as it sounds but he must overcome multiple difficulties within which is an almost invincible opponent. Mr. Rozen will be responsible for making life impossible for Simon.
It is a book that although it seems political, it has action. In my opinion, a little adventure but above all, it is an ingenious book. The author has the ability to connect you so much with the story that you feel the rage of Simon and you become a personal enemy of Mr. Rozen. If you have the opportunity to read this book, do not miss it.

Crazy!

This book is full of traumatic events for Simon Pack, all in order to end his path to the presidency. His intelligence and skill have caused panic in his opponent, current president Keith Rozan, who does everything in his power to end Pack's career.
However, the death of his wife, his aides on his campaign team and the constant attacks only make this character that much stronger.
This book impacted me because although this is fiction, it is also a great example of temperance, characteristic of the greatest leaders, because it inspires to face the obstacles no matter how big and challenging they are. Personally, I love stories that involve these challenging political frameworks

This was a good political drama. I have not read any of the previous books, but I was intrigued by the synopsis and picked it up. It looks like I didn't really need much from the previous books since the author summarized and pointed out what readers should know throughout the story. But I'm sure if I had the previous eleven books, it would've made everything sweeter. Simon Pack is a very interesting character. It was kind of neat seeing a third party candidate actually have a chance at winning a candidacy. I very much don't agree with a lot of what Simon Pack was saying, but it was neat seeing him being successful in how to really win the candidacy. It's obvious how to do it, and he did it. At times, it felt a little too on the nose, but that's just me. Overall, I enjoyed it.

"47" by John M. Vermillion is the twelfth installment of the Simon Pack series. On this occasion, the author reveals to us a great political and organized crime plot. Author Vermillion tells the life of Simon Pack, a man who lost everything, but is willing to do anything, even running for the White House, but he has many enemies who do not want him there. Could he get rid of these enemies and thus achieve his goal? Or will he be trapped in a dead end?
I really enjoyed this installment which does not require reading the previous books to decipher its plot. I think this author did a very good job with regards to storytelling, the scenes are very well described and the characters are very good.

47 is the last addition to the Simon Pack Series, a veteran from the Marine Corps with an avid mind and a natural talent for investigation. This time, he has decided to make a change, with a political career in front of him. But the high sphere, filled with corruption and evil, won´t make things easy for him.

I think this novel explores another side of Simon. The author rounded up a relentless character with vision and a clear motive, making the plot interesting from page one. It is a medium-sized novel mixing action with politics, with a suspenseful overtone.

A recommended read, and even if it can be read as a standalone, it would be better to read the previous books to grasp the story fully.

A page-turning book
I came across a new novel by John M. Vermillion, “47-Simon Pack". What a story!
Simon’s political party opponents start with the destruction of his cabin, then they murder his wife, all because the politicians fear for Simon’s seat in the party. How far are his opponents going to go during the campaign? Will they be able to halt Simon?
Well, it’s an incredible story. After reading it, I confirmed the saying that goes: “There is nothing new under the sun”; this novel proves that. Corruption, plot, jealousy and ambition are themes that abound in the political field and that readers visualise in these pages. It’s great! John has a clear and neat writing style worth the while. I liked the novel and I highly recommend it.

A good political drama.

Simon Pack has become an important politician with great chances of winning the elections, but this means entering a dangerous world. After his wife was killed and his cabin burned, Simon is furious and determined to win this political war.
47 by John M. Vermillion is the twelfth and the last book in the Simon Pack book series. I think it is very important to read it chronologically because the plot and characters are complex and I bet they have been built into all the books. This political drama is full of action, secrets and mysteries that keep the reader on the edge of their seats.
It was a slightly different reading than what I am used to and I must say that I enjoyed it!

47 is a gripping political thriller that tells the story of Simon Pack, an extraordinary individual with an unyielding ambition to become the President of the United States. His goal is no small feat, especially as a third-party candidate in a political landscape dominated by the two major parties. The novel takes a dark turn when he and his family are attacked. This catastrophic event is not just a personal blow but a calculated move to dismantle Pack’s campaign. This starts a series of dramatic events that will force the protagonist to devise a strategy to become successful in his endeavour. The book is filled with suspenseful twists and turns, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. I recommend it.

A must read!

A political thrilling story full of rich characters and deep connections with each other.
Simon Pack, a man who is strong willed and very involved in his political campaign of becoming president, but as fate would have it not everything would be smooth sailings for him. A man named Keith Rozen who had loathed Simon for a very long time will do anything he can to throw him off his game. But when Rozen goes too far, Simon can no longer hold back and the action begins.
This book is one that I could not put down. Each page was different and I was completely compelled by the author's way of writing. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves reading.
