The magic is in her blood, and she never knew.

Sometimes young women go missing in Moonlight Bay, Oregon, but Dari Jiménez decided the sleepy college there was still the one for her. When a supernatural monster attacks Dari in a dark stairwell, the struggle with everyday drama is swept aside. A tough, tattooed woman with a mohawk rescues Dari and introduces her to the arcane secrets of her birthright as the last member of an ages-old bloodline sworn to combat an invasion of elemental fiends tearing through the veil between their world and ours.

A twisting tale of magic, deception, and finding the truth about the world.

Dari is trying to live an uneventful life, which is not helped by moving to a town where women are known to go missing regularly. Adding to that is her new found magic abilities and the daemons hunting her down. Dari must re-think everything she knows about the world and decide how she wants her future to be lived, all while trying to stave off attacks from an unknown source.

Except for one spicier scene, this novel reads very much new adult, and I am living for it.

Dari is a dynamic character who doesn't let anyone dictate how she lives her life, although that does put her in harms way more often then not. Ty is an interesting character - very much a golden retriever personified. And Ash, oh, dear Ash. . . She could stalk me any day. I love her description, mysterious antics, and tough-love approach. Plus she is a bad-ass fighter worthy of swooning over.

The world-building is exceptional, the only draw-back is certain points do feel like info-dumps where a lot of the magic system is being described quickly to just offload the information needed for the upcoming chapter. That being said, it is still minimal, and placed where the information is important to the upcoming events, so it does balance out.

This book is a can't put down novel that has me wishing for more.

Plus that cover is to die for!

Super cute plot! Loved the original take on a few different magical things. Found myself smiling, and getting really into the story! The characters were all easily lovable.

If the book was condensed without the fluff and fillers it would be a four. The middle to end it started getting good and there’s hope for a better sequel :)

"I don't think you're weak, Dari. I never have." She turned back to me with a sad smile. "I'm afraid you're so strong, you'd rather break than bend."

⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

It took me a little while to get into this book, but that was on me. But once I got into Dari's story, I wanted to know more. That could just be the noisy side of me, lol. In this new adult fantasy, Dari finds out she has summoner's magic. She comes to know this after being attacked by a daemon, and Mohawk tattoo badass mage named Ash saves Dari and her boyfriend Tyler.
There were times when reading I got lost when conversations were happening. I didn't know who was saying what to who, so I had to go back and reread just to understand what was happening.
The beginning did drag some, and there were points when I was like, why is this even in the story. But overall, I did like the storyline, and I am looking forward to reading the next book once published.

I wanted to finish this book because it was short so I thought it will be a fast read. Indeed was fast but not the reading I expected. It will not be a long review and everything I write will be based only on where I read.
The biggest problem I found in this book is the lack of depth in the scenes and the characters. So the writing style of the author. I had a hard time following the actions of the characters and I often had to read a second time a phrase because I thought I had missed something. Which was not possible since everything happens in a sentence. This quick passage makes the character's flat and important moments that need to be expressed with their times meaningless.
What stands out though is Dari, the protagonist, interest in Ash, this mysterious figure who from what I understand is like her protector. What I’m sensing is that Dari’s interest in Ash is more than just curiosity but this is just a theory based on how far I’ve read.
Up to where I read the world-building is interesting and the fact that it’s set in a college makes it exciting because is the classic place where everything can happen.
I’m sorry to drop the book because the premises were there, but it seems more like a draft that needs to be revised.

Dari is living a somewhat typical life at college, she and her roommate Grace get along, Her boyfriend Tyler is the perfect example of a southern gentleman with sex appeal. And she has a job at the library that she likes. Until one night she and Tyler are attacked and a strange mysterious woman saves her life, opening up a world that Dari never knew existed.
Her college campus is known for the disappearances of young woman, and Tyler's last girlfriend was one of them, but what if the disappearances have something to do with this new world Dari has been snatched into? As she discovers more about this world of magic and the beings that habitat in it, she struggles with knowing who to trust, but more importantly who is she or what is she.
Can Dari find out who she really is and still be safe?
Summoner's Circle is action packed with magic and mystery. Deception and strange friendships. I enjoyed the book and I liked how the possible enemy was always in question but never easily identified. I would definitely be interested in reading more about Dari's adventures and her journey to gaining more understanding of her powers and history.

Women have been disappearing for years in Moonlight Bay, which is the college that Grace and her roommate Dari attend. Dari works at the library and her boyfriend Tyler stays with Dari over the break when she isn’t working. Something attacks them one night and Dari is saved by Ash, who knew Dari’s mother and never wanted her to be a part of this. But Fate had other plans. So we learn about the world, which I found to be fascinating. All the different myths, elementals, daemons, the different rules of magic, and then the sides- Dusk and Dawn. All of it was just awesome and I can’t wait to read the next book!

Watching Dari grow into her powers and finding out the truth of what happened to her mother, at the school over the years and everything else revealed in the book was just awesome. I had so much fun reading the book.

What an interesting audiobook. I liked the narrator and she brought the world to life. And what an interesting world it was, I really enjoyed the worldbuilding and the magic system that was in the book. The characters were a little harder to get to know, but I liked the things we learned about them. My favorites were the familiars for both Dari and Ash.

The book does end in a slight cliffhanger and it was surprising to me where it stopped. We'd only just gotten to the surface of things and there's a lot to uncover in the next book(s) for Dari, which is going to be interesting to see. She and Ty are also still hiding a major secret from Ash and seeing that get revealed will definitely be a twist.

I received my copy of this book as an ARC from Netgalley.

This novel was a fast and easy read with an engaging plot. I really liked Dari and Ash as characters! Tyler I found to be a bit overbearing but that could be just a me problem. I do wish we could’ve had more scenes with Dari training and learning about the world she’s become a part of, information was given abruptly right before it became relevant-it would’ve been nice to have more of a world building chapter that was just quickly referenced later when it becomes relevant. Overall, the story was great and I look forward to seeing what comes next from this author!

"Summoner's Circle" is a fast-paced Urban Fantasy novel. A very different magic system with magical creatures. Dari is for the shock of her lifetime when a monster attack on her and is rescued by a strange, tattooed woman. Dari's normal teenager life is at end. Dari is introduced to her true identity and her true purpose which has to be managed along with her steamy love life.

A very entertaining, fast moving plot with twists and action. A good urban fantasy book.

Thank you BookSirens for the e-ARC in return of an honest review.

I loved the magic system and the world building in this one. It really felt like fantasy YA books that I was obsessed with when I was younger except it’s adult (perfect for me now). I really like Dari, she’s an amazing mc even if she did annoy me at points. I love the side characters too.

The audiobook is also great, I got it on sale last year andIm so glad I did because the narration was fantastic

OMG this book! highly, highly, highly recommend!

I devoured this book! If you are a fan of Urban Fantasy with a powerful and flawed FMC then don’t hesitate, pick this one up. I loved the take on magic, the characters and the story. Y’all the only thing that I didn’t like is that I have to wait for another story about these characters!

Good premise, great magic system. Pacing felt weird to me. It was going well until about the 70-75% mark, then twist after twist that was resolved too fast for my liking. Not a bad book though. Some people would definitely love it.

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this book.

I felt like this has a lot of potential but fell a little flat at times. Things don't get as fleshed out until later on in the story, so the characters didn't hook me at the beginning at all. I'd be willing to read more to see what happens though because of that potential.

A twisty story that leaves you, like Dari the protagonist, wondering who to trust! Well done story and plotting, a cool magic system, familiars that you can't help but like and respect--honestly this is a lot of fun, and the first book of a series that promises to be amazing.

Once I started reading it was hard to stop. The magic, the lore, the diverse characters, it was good. What would have made it up to 4 stars would have been to slow down a bit. It kinda irritated me that the story didn't seem true for the MC.

This book felt like a cozy fantasy — is that a genre? I really enjoyed the magical side of the book, however the plot was somewhat predictable. I was invested nonetheless.

I liked this book but not as much as I thought I was going to. First of all I want to talk about the ending of the book or at least the last part of the book. I didn’t like the redemption arc the author gave to the MC’s bf AT ALL. Personally to me it felt kinda rushed and not at all authentic to the feelings the MC had about what he did to her. I also felt like the author could’ve kept him in the book as a villain instead and that would’ve been better. Another thing that kinda turned me off the book was some of the feelings described by the MC for her mentor, obviously nothing crazy weird happened or I would’ve given it a way lower rating but it kinda felt like it was just thrown in the book and not at all fleshed out and I can’t even remember if they were mentioned again or not.
Some of the things I did enjoy about the book were literally all the demons that got summoned I loved them so much. I was also really enjoying the plot of the book before the end, which let me say wasn’t bad, but just not something I enjoyed.

It was a super interesting premise! I'm excited to see what else happens in the series. I would have loved to see more character development, and at times it felt like the pacing was off, but I loved the FMC!

A good start to a series I’m not 100% that i will continue it but it was a good read. I gave it a four star because the world created along with the characters and magic was unique to me. It also had a big of a Sabrina feel for me as well
