After making the dumbest mistake of my life, I need a safe place to figure out what comes next. When my older brother’s best friend offers me free room and board in exchange for caring for his daughters, it feels like coming home. These two little girls become more than a job– and their handsome dad so much more than a boss. My lie is simple, but having the courage to tell the people I love is anything but.
Berg
Since losing my wife, asking for help has never felt easy. My girls are my whole world but I’m burnt out. When I hired Carolina as a nanny I had no idea how well she’d fit into our family–or how fast I’d fall for her, but the thought of her leaving us is too much to bear.
Suddenly Entwined is a steamy, single dad romance set in the fictional small town of West Isle, Canada.
Kelsey Woods is the author of debut novel, Lovingly Restored. She wrote her first book on a typewriter at five years old. While ‘Sugar The Adventurous Hummingbird’ was lovely, she now prefers using her Microsoft Surface to bring you spicy contemporary romance.
Kelsey can be found attached at the hip to her emotional support Kindle or in recreation centre workout classes with women in their seventies.
Mother of two daughters and police wife, she lives on beautiful Vancouver Island and will brag about her proximity to the Pacific Ocean at every opportunity.
All I can say is wow, I absolutely devoured this book!!! This is my first book by Kelsey that I read and it won’t be the last.
I really enjoyed the storyline, the development of the relationships between Cora and the girls. Then the relationship between the MC’s 🥹 ugh, I love that they created an emotional connection before the physical. That was probably my favorite part, that they created that bond and friendship that just blossomed. I also love how the two help each other so effortlessly and easily. The trust and faith they have in each other is beautiful too.
This book just had everything you could want in a romance and more. 🥹 Absolutely binged my way through the story, I laughed and was in awe. So beautiful and I wish I could have more. 🥰
Caro made a bad decision while living aboard and now she is back home with her parents. She agrees to rent an apartment from one of her brother’s best friends. Berg is a widowed father of two. He needs to be more active in their business so he ask Caro to be his nanny. The lines between them starts to blur.
My thoughts:
I loved Berg and Caro. Their chemistry was strong and well written. I really liked how even though her brother is protective, he doesn’t cause problems for Caro and Berg. He allows her to make her own decisions.
@kelseywoodswrites is a great storyteller and I love her writing style. This is my third book by her and won’t be my last.
Suddenly Entwined is book 3 in the West Isle Romance series. They can be read as a stand alone. Each book focuses on the couple with the others truly only being background characters. I look forward to book four.
thank you @kelseywoodswrites and @happilybookedpr for the ARC.
This was such a cute quick read. I could not put it down once I started. Single dad/Nanny? Age/gap? Brother’s best friend? grumpy/sunshine? Yes yes yes yes! Suddenly Entwined has all of the tropes that have the potential to make a great book and it did not disappoint!! I loved Berg and Caro’s story! Highly recommend checking this one out, especially if you have read the others in the series!
I read this book in one singular sitting. If Kelsey woods writes it, I’m going to read it. This series just keeps getting better with each book. Dare I say it, that Berg and Caro are my new West Isle favs?!
I really loved the growth and development of each character in this book. Heck, even Tamara showed growth!
I really really loved how perfectly portrayed single parenting is. Berg had SO much on his plate but kept piling it up, in an effort to keep his girls happy and live a fulfilled life. Single parents are incredibly selfless and Kelsey portrayed their strength so well.
I found myself cackling through the story. So many times. Literal tears were flowing at the swim lesson/swimsuit debacle scene 🤣 Caro is such a funny character, her one liners were placed perfectly. She’s witty and kind. She dove headfirst into nannying and it suited her personality, even though she second guessed herself many times. She had a natural talent at putting others first and keeping everyone safe.
Overall, I recommend this light, effortlessly easy to devour read! Thanks Kelsey for the ARC! Another easy 5 star 🩷
This book gripped me from the beginning and I devoured it! I loved Caro and Berg, they were the cutest couple ever! I enjoyed how they didn’t rush into things and how they slowly fell in love by becoming friends first. Single dad romances are a favorite of mine and I enjoyed Caro’s connection with his daughters. This book had a great storyline and good character development. The characters were so real as was the whole story. It made it really relatable which is great. I especially liked how the MMC had a “dad bod” because a lot of times everyone is the perfect size in books, which is unrealistic. If you like single dads, slow burn, best friends little sister, age gap, and sexual tension then this is for you!
This one was cute. I loved these two finding their way to each other.
Berg is the single dad who’s making it but barely. He’s to be all the things to everyone. He needs help and that help arrives in the form of one of his friend’s little sisters.
Carolina is home finally after a few years abroad. Now she needs to figure out how to make ends meet after some tough times. She takes Berg up on his offer to nanny. The girls ares great and she’s actually really good at it.
As time goes on they fall in love. They fight those feelings but keep getting closer and closer. When they fall they fall hard and find that the other is just what they need to have someone in their corner and be fully supported.
big, burly girl dads are my KRYPTONITE and all this book did was reinforce that🥲
not only is this such a sweet love story between Berg and Carolina, it also tells the story of Carolina’s blossoming relationship with Berg’s daughters, Natalie and Louisa. How they grow to care for each other, how the girls and their dad process the grief of losing someone close to them, and how Carolina ends up fitting so perfectly into this loving family unit🫶🏻
I absolutely devoured this book and immediately want to read everything else Kelsey writes until the end of time!!!!
Thank you Kelsey and Happily Booked PR for this ARC and for giving me the opportunity to read and review it!🤍
“It’s like we turned a pot on the stove up, and we’re both keeping an eye on it. Knowing that eventually it might boil over, but not when. For now we’ve put a lid on it.”
Definitely recommend! I read this in one sitting because this cozy little book had it all. Just a regular couple, dealing with regular life, but it was done so well. It was funny, charming and had some spice that was not off the charts (in my unhinged opinion), but their moments felt extremely intimate. Berg and Caro had perfect chemistry right off the bat and it played out so well. There was an aspect of loss involved in the story, but it wasn’t centred around that. It was two great people falling in love when they weren’t even looking for it. Also the girls reminded me so much of my own so it was extra fun for me.
I was so excited to be going back to West Isles. It was good to finally get to read Berg’s story. Single dad, widower, with 2 little girls and he needs a little help. Luckily Carolina needs a place to stay and since her brother, Chris, moved out of the apartment at Berg’s house, she can stay there. And that’s how she becomes the nanny. A 15 year age gap and the fact that she’s his best friend’s little sister makes Berg want to keep his distance, but you can’t fight fate or ignore how someone just fits in your life. Sweet story with just the right amount of spice. Thankful for the ARC from Kelsey and Happily Booked PR.
So, in a nutshell. Suddenly Entwined. Single dad/Nanny. Check. Brother’s best friend. Check. Grumpy v sunshine. Check. Age gap. Check. Adorable emotional relationships with the children. Check.
The development of both the emotional and physical relationship between the two MC's was so well done. It definitely made for a quick and easy, fun read. This is my first Kelsey Woods read, it is book 3 in a series but it can be read as a standalone and I had no problem with this, there was a fab list of tropes, potential to be something great, and I was not disappointed.
Thank you to Kelsey & Happily Booked PR for the opportunity to read and review Suddenly Entwined - all opinions are my own.
Each book of this series quickly draws you in and makes you feel like you’re a fly on the wall, watching all these wonderful characters fall in love and build lives together. This is an enjoyable single dad/nanny romance that has you rooting for these two from the very start!
Carolina is hanging her head when she returns home to West Isle. She’s made some mistakes and doubting everything she thought she new about herself. Understandably, she struggles with the idea of having to face what happened, so she second-guesses herself a lot and fails to see her strength.
Berg is such an amazing single dad! He’s struggling to keep up the momentum it takes, but he’s giving it his all to both of his daughters and his job to provide for them. After losing his wife, he tried to push everything personal to the side. Once he accepts the idea that he may need some help, I began falling in love with this book even more as we watch Caro (Carolina) step into her role as the nanny.
Caro has made some poor choices that led her back home. Her character growth is admirable and brings a lot of emotions from laughter to tears as you read. I loved seeing her come to life with Berg’s daughters. And her relationship with Berg? It grows from a natural chemistry – one that grows with time, conversation, and responsibility that transforms her into the woman she’s meant to be.
My absolute favorite part was watching how much Berg, Caro, and the girls become a family unit, trusting one another, and falling in love. Although neither expected to find this, the pacing unfolds a true love story, built on trust. Plenty of steamy/spicy moments, too! These are worth the build between these two and make this book such a treat!
Tropes: 🧳single dad x nanny 🚧age gap 🧳brother's best friend 🚧Grumpy sunshine 🧳widow
After returning home from travels abroad and a few...mistakes, Carolina is back home in West Isle. Without a place to land and her childhood bedroom converted into an office, she moves in with her brother's best friend, Berg, to help land on her feet. After begrudgingly agreeing to nanny for his two daughters, Carolina and Berg's tension-filled friendship starts to boil over into something more. And Berg...doesn't hate seeing another woman in his house with his girls anymore ;)
All of Kelsey's books in the West Isle series are just such feel good stories! I especially love getting to see previous MC's pop up throughout the series to see what they've been up to since the end of their respective stories. I will say it and will say it again, I. Love. Single Dad x Nanny books! And this one was no exception. And while I loved seeing Carolina and Berg's relationship develop, I loved seeing Carolina interacting with the girls and them just forming their little family. The found family trope was SO STRONG. And just seeing Carolina come back onto her feet after her struggles from abroad just made me so happy. As well as seeing Berg so supportive of Carolina for chasing her dreams and giving her the nudge that she needs to get the final push. Just a feel good book all-around!
Thank you to Kelsey and Happily Booked PR for the eARC
This book was so good! I read this as a standalone but I can’t wait to go back and read the other books in this series. I really enjoyed the authors writing! I basically read this in one sitting. It was a quick, fun read!
Berg is a single dad who desperately needs help taking care of his two daughters. Caroline is his new tenant who also happens to be his best friend’s younger sister. Berg’s daughters instantly form a connection with Caroline and which gives Berg the idea to ask Caroline to be their nanny. Even though she was resistant at first she eventually gives in. Berg tries to keep his distance and convince himself it’s for the best. There are so many reason him and Caroline shouldn’t be together, like she is the nanny, she is 15 years younger and the little sister of his best friend. But, she fits so well with the family, his daughters love her, and she cares about them so much. They easily fall into a routine and eventually they both can’t deny their connection. I loved watching their relationship develop! They were such a cute family. Berg’s daughters were adorable!
✨ Single dad ✨ Small town ✨ Nanny ✨ Grumpy x sunshine ✨ Age gap
With this being the third book in the series, I was already in love with West Isle and the stories set here. But Carolina and Berg’s story was insanely cute and one of my favorites. What I loved so much about the story, and probably the others in the series, too, is how relatable and honest the characters and plot lines are. Sometimes, you read romance books, and they are so far removed from reality that it is hard to connect and empathize with what is happening with the characters. Yet, with Berg and Caro, you saw their struggle with opening up about their struggles and the (sometimes) harsh reality facing them. You saw how love grew despite the personal struggles and negative thoughts that tried to hold them back. The dual POV really enhanced the story, as readers could see how both sides had their individual stories/struggles yet worked together to find a place for their love story, too.
Berg's care and compassion for Caro and his daughters makes my heart flutter. I loved the moment he told his daughter, “All you need to know is that I have an extra big heart, so I have lots of extra love to give.” What a swoon-worthy response to console your daughter when you start dating someone new!
This series is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and I can’t wait to read another of Kelsey Woods’ works! She is definitely an author to watch!
Thank you to Kelsey Woods and Happily Booked PR for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review!
Berg is a widower with two young girls - Natalie and Louisa - who is working hard to provide and be a good father. It's a lot to keep together, but he's doing his best.
Carolina is back home from abroad after running into money troubles, and is happy to move into Berg's basement because it is affordable. She works as a bartender, but would love to get back to school and finish her psychology degree.
When the two first meet, it's a bit of a disaster, but they find that there's definitely an attraction between them. The problem? Not only is she 15 years younger, she's the sister of his best friend. Even so, as Berg and the girls get to know Caro, and he convinces her to nanny for him, they begin spending so much time together that their connection sizzles... Can they keep it professional? Will the age gap be too much? Or will it be a disaster and burn them both?
I enjoyed Berg and Caro, but their issues didn't seem to be insurmountable, so I didn't feel quite as invested as I would have liked. One of the thorns in their side that kept popping up ended up solving itself, and everything felt very easy. That being said, it was still incredibly sweet, satisfying, and well written.
Thank you to the author and to Happily Booked PR for my gifted copy. I am voluntarily sharing my honest review.
My instinct for starting my West Isle romance reviews is always to say "I absolutely inhaled this book" which is repetitive but is absolutely true. I was honoured to receive an early ARC from Kelsey and she can testify she was getting messages from me about how much I loved it between 12-4am EST which is when I read it. I could not put it down!!
Single, girl dad Berg has a lot on his plate with two young, rambunctious daughters and increasing responsibility in the construction business he is part owner of. So far, he's kept everything in the air but he's starting to realize that it might not kill him to ask for help. Help that comes from his best friend's little sister who he's letting live in his basement apartment, who treats his little girls like the amazing humans they are and who he seems to have undeniable but completely off attraction to. Carolina, this incredible woman he can't stop thinking about, is trying to get out from under a major mistake and a pile of lies and when Berg asks her to be their nanny, she sees it as an opportunity she can't turn down but isn't sure she is responsible enough for.
Single dad is one of my favourite tropes and Kelsey Woods is one of my favourite authors so I already knew I'd love it but I am absolutely obsessed with Suddenly Entwined. I cannot overstate how much I loved it. There are so many so cute you kick your feet moments, so many laugh out loud moments and no shortage of spicy moments. I feel like I need a whole series of Berg, Caro and the girls because they are just too cute! I need more!!!
Carolina has moved back home after making a horrible mistake. Now she's trying to start over. When her brother's best friend offers her free rent to be a nanny for his two daughters, Caro feels it's the perfect opportunity. Berg has been taking care of his daughters himself for the past seven years, and he's starting to get burned out. Asking for help isn't easy, but Carolina naturally falls into place with Berg's family. Once she is part of his family, he can't stand the thought of losing her.
Suddenly Entwined was such a sweet romance. Berg was such an incredible man and father. He dedicated his whole life to taking care of his two daughters after he became a widower. He put his daughters before himself in every way. It wasn't until Carolina became his tenet that he realized that he was overwhelmed that he even thought about getting a nanny for his kids to relieve some of the pressure he was under. Berg and Carolina were so sweet together. Carolina brought a new type of playfulness and happiness into the home for Berg and his daughters. In a way, they were both what each other needed to take the next steps in their lives. I devoured this book in a day because I loved it so much!
Tropes Single Dad X Nanny Grumpy X Sunshine Age Gap Brother’s Best Friend
So so happy to be back in West Isles!!! This book was such a cute and easy read! I absolutely blew right through this book! Berg and Caro were so so so adorable! I love a single dad romance!!
Berg lost his wife and is trying to make it work raising his two girls and getting a promotion at work, Caro moves into his basement as a Tenant. Berg and Caro quickly become friends and fall for one another!!
I enjoyed the storyline and the progression, i really liked how they enjoyed each others company instead of just lusting for one another first. They became friends that evolved into something more! I loved how Caro fell into the roll of nanny and caregiver to the girls so naturally, she has such a good relationship with them. I loved the humor in the story, I loved how they connected on a real level!
I just thought the story could use a little more explanation with the money and how her parents replaced it with money they have been saving for school. That part confused me a little bit!
It was cute and light hearted!!! I loved all the books in this series so far and I cannot wait to see what Kelsey writes next!!!
*thank you Kelsey and Happily Booked Pr for the ARC in exchange for an honest review*

Carolina, to those who know her Caro, has made it back home to West Isle. She's left college, gave someone money that was supposed to pay her back, and she is broke. Her brother, Chris, is moving in with his girlfriend so he let's Caro live in his lower level apartment. Caro gets a bartending gig and she hopes to make enough to cover rent and save some money.
Berg owns the house she is renting the lower level of and he is known as a grump. Berg lost his wife 7 years ago and he is raising 2 little girls on his own in addition to owning a business with friends. Overworked, exhausted, and trying his best, he still feels he is failing his girls.
After a heroic move by Caro, Berg asks her to be his nanny. She could live for free in her apartment and care for the girls and still earn a paycheck. She has no experience with children but she finds herself loving these girls fiercely. Unexpectedly she starts to feel the same for Berg with the more time they spend together.
Is it fate? Is it real? She's 15 years younger than Berg and he is very aware of that. Can they find a way to make it work where everyone can be happy including the girls?
Thank you to @kelseywoodswrites and @happilybookedpr for my copy to read and review!
Ahh I loved this so much! Definitely my favorite of the series now! Carolina (Caro) and Berg were absolutely perfect for each other even with the age gap. 40 & 25.
This all started when Bergs best friend Chris helps moved his sister Carolina into the apartment below Berg and his two girls Natalie & Lou. Caro is struggling to get by as a bartender but when Berg offered her to Nanny for him she couldn’t say no. These girls absolutely loved Caro and along the way Berg & Caro developed feelings for each other even though they didn’t think it was a good idea but the more time they spent together the more they loved spending time with each other.
I loved the relationship Berg & Carolina had for one another and girls were absolutely adorable. Caro would do anything for them in a sec, even if it means saving Lou from getting kicked by a donkey and hurting herself in return.
The connection Caro develops with the girls and Berg was perfection. They started an emotional relationship before it becomes more and let me tell you it was so good. 😏😉
Tropes Small town Age gap Neighbors Single dad x nanny Close proximity
To start with Suddenly Entwined is book 3 of the West Isle romance series but can be read as a stand-alone. However with that said, I definitely suggest you read them all so you can be in love with the side characters too! Personally, after reading “Unhurried Hearts” I knew I needed Berg’s story. He definitely makes an impression in that one and did not disappoint me! 😍
The characters in this were all amazing and I loved all of them so much! It was wonderful seeing some glimpses of old favorites but Berg & Carolina are my favorite West Isle couple now. I loved the growth and change in both of them. I really loved their chemistry and banter - especially when it came to Berg’s issue with doors. 🤣 The girls were freaking adorable - both Lou & Nat had their own moments and I really enjoyed reading about their craziness. (Can you get baby fever from a book because I think I might have it. 🤣🤣) The story flowed well and although quick it felt complete. Overall I found myself smiling throughout this one and would definitely recommend. ❤️
This was a cute, quick, romance book and I absolutely devoured it. Berg is a single dad of two girls. He's grumpy, hard working, older, but also, he's an amazing father. Caroline is Bergs best friends sister who needs a place to stay. She's made a horrible mistake and is trying to start over. When Berg and Caro meet, there are sparks between them immediately. Berg offers her to be the nanny for his girls so he can take on some more responsibilities at work, but becomes sooooo smitten with Caro and the way she takes care of his girls. The girls even love her. Berg is apprehensive about trying to act on his feelings for Caro but the tension between them is hot.... Almost every single main character in this story had character growth, which I loved. There were lots of funny moments that had me laughing out loud in public. There were also sweet, heart warming moments that brought tears to my eyes. I had all the feels with this story and definitely recommend giving it a read if you like age gap, nanny/romance, with spice.
Caroline is forced to return home after making some bad decisions in who she trusts. Her brother sets her up in his old apartment under his best friend Berg.
Bert is a single dad who needs help. He is maxed out caring for his 2 daughters and working to help build the shared business. Berg asks Caroline to be his nanny. And soon realizes she is so much more to build family.
This is a best love story of second chance love. Also age gap where it doesn’t feel like the gap is different. Berg and Carol are a perfect complement to each other.
This is book 3 in the series but could be read as a standalone. However this book makes me want to read the other books!
After making some bad decisions Carolina finds herself asking what's next when her brother tells her about the now vacant apartment attached to his best friends house. Being a widower girl dad is hard enough but when his business partner asks him to take on more responsibilities he's at a loss on what to do until he meets his new tenant, his best friends little sister. Can Bergs need for help outshine the growing sexual tension or will everything fall to splinters? Tw: loss of a spouse This book is seriously adorable! The relationship that Caro builds with Bergs girls is incredibly healthy and absolutely heartwarming. While both self doubt and single parenting are hard to overcome having someone in your corner really makes the journey easier. Reading how their stories unfold and how they manage the HEAT between them was so much fun. Tropes: Small town Nanny Girl dad Age Gap Dad bod Brothers best friend
Suddenly Entwined by Kelsey Woods ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 This is the story of 25 year old Carolina whose life was falling apart after some bad decisions. She decides to come home and her older brother sets her up in his old apartment, which is the downstairs of his best friend’s house. Berg is the 40 years old, grumpy best friend, who is completely overwhelmed with trying to raise his daughters alone and work. Berg asks Carolina to be his nanny….. well and it goes from there, such a great story!!! I couldn’t put it down! Age Gap, Brother’s best friend, Nanny, Small town (Canada), Girl Dad, Second Chance Romance, all the tropes that make a great story. This was my first Kelsey Woods book and the third book in the West Isle Series (but can be read as a standalone) I have to say, can’t wait to read the other two books in the series!!!! Thank you Kelsey Woods for the opportunity to read this ARC. So Good!
Carolina is forced to return home after her travel plans take a turn. Well, no one wants to live on their parent’s couch at 25 so, her brother hooks her up with a place to live with one of his friends. Berg’s downstairs room/apartment is open and Caro moves in. Little does she know she is about to be adopted by two of the sweetest tornados. Lou and Nat are Berg’s little girls and the most important things in his life. After seeing how Caro interacts with the girls, he offers her a job nannying for them since he’s a single dad. As they navigate these new job roles, they also have to navigate the chemistry that is absolutely magnetic between them. The author did such a beautiful job of showing a dad doing his best, as well as a woman finding her place in an already established family. The way that she was able to make this story so relatable and real was truly wonderful. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
4.5/5⭐️ Carolina (Caro) is finally back in town after travelling for three years. She needs a place to stay and ends up renting from Berg, her brother’s best friend. Berg is a single dad to two girls and with increased responsibility at work, he needs help. Help comes in the form of Caro becoming nanny to his two daughters!
While caring for the two girls Caro is soon entwined into this family of three. I love the family tradition of sharing highs and lows and I hope to do this with my kids someday, when they are older!
As Caro and Berg navigate the circumstances that seem to stand in their way, they can’t help but fall deeper in love with each other. I enjoyed those simple moments where they just dined as a family, had movie nights and just chilled together.
This was a heartwarming read which brought joy to me!
This was such a sweet love story between a burly single dad, Berg, and the new nanny for his daughters, Carolina. It's chock full of so many tropes that I'm loving as of late - Single dad x nanny, brother's best friend, age gap, and grumpy x sunshine.
I really enjoyed the fact that whilst this was a romance book, it wasn't a book just about the romance between Carolina and Berg. It was about building a family with his two girls, about grief and all that comes with it, and about a wider found family. It had everything you could want within it's pages, and was such a great read from Woods.
This is the second of the West Isle books that I've read of hers, and can be read as a standalone.
Thank you to the author and @happilybookedpr for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.
I am so excited to be part of the ARC team for Suddenly Entwined by Kelsey Woods! This was my first time reading a single dad/nanny romance, and I loved it! I’m not a single parent, but as a parent I have never felt “seen” like that while reading a romance book. The feelings of not being enough, constantly rushing, and often not getting to prioritize myself. I saw all of these things in Berg. I also connected a lot with Caro’s character and how she feels about herself.
Berg and Caro’s relationship is a slowburn, but there is so much tension! And Berg’s daughters are hilarious, they added so much humour into the book. I loved seeing all of the relationships grow. My only wish is that it was longer, I need more of them!
I really recommend giving this book a read, it comes out on August 15 and will be on KU! It’s perfect for a slowburn (with high tension), single dad / nanny, older brother’s best friend romance book! It’s book 3 in the West Isle interconnected standalones (which I recommend all, Lovingly Restored is one of my comfort reads).
Thank you to Kelsey Woods for the advanced review copy, thoughts and review are my own.
