l biglietto stellato di Vasilij Aksenov (Mondadori) è uno di quei libri che avrei voluto leggere una decina di anni fa. Avrei voluto tuffarmi in una storia così, mischiarmi a quei ragazzi che stanno cercando la loro strada, hanno fame, ideali, speranze e credono che un sogno non debba per forza coincidere con una professione.
Il biglietto stellato è un libro che mi ha stregato perché non credevo che avrei trovato così tanta leggerezza, voglia di nuovo, spensieratezza e vita vera, tutto insieme. Non lo conoscevo e mi è stato consigliato da qualcuno che se ne intende, ovvero la persona che ha curato il libro, e sono rimasta molto stupita quando ho scoperto che il romanzo breve non è più in commercio ed è praticamente introvabile. Lo so, state pensando: “E allora perché ce ne parli?”, perché l’ho amato e credo nel potere dei mercatini e perché no, magari in una nuova ristampa (Su eBay è comunque disponibile un’edizione datata uscita per Einaudi).
Siamo a Mosca e quattro amici si ritrovano alla Barcellona, una casa sgangherata in cui vivono diverse famiglie. Sarà l’ennesimo lancio di una monetina a decidere il destino dei diciassettenni, Dimka, il protagonista, Alik, Jurka e Galja, l’unica ragazza. Hanno voglia e bisogno di allontanarsi dalle proprie famiglie, da quella casa che ci sembra sovraffollata, da quel cortile che rappresenta al tempo stesso la distanza e il ponte tra questa generazione e la precedente.

Ukoliko vas zanima šta su sovjetski tinejdžeri čitali šezdesetih godina, ukoliko volite "prozu u trapericama" i ne smeta vam gomila zastarelih izraza - ova knjiga će vam biti podnošljiva za čitanje. Jednostavno ovo je knjiga koju je vreme pregazilo, ali sa druge strane na momente mi je bilo zaninljivo da pratim kako je Aksjonov prikazao život sovjetske omladine i izazove koji su stajali na njihovom putu da postanu "dobri komunisti".

Ammetto che sono state le ultime pagine a farmi amare questo libro, il finale è davvero commovente.
I quattro protagonisti, Dimka, Jurka, Alik e l'unica ragazza del gruppo, Galja, stanno cercando la loro strada e con il lancio di una monetina decidono di allontanarsi dalle loro famiglie per andare in Estonia.
Sarà per la vicinanza di età che mi sono ritrovata molto in questi quattro ragazzi o per la loro ricerca di un futuro migliore, una strada tutta loro, che mi hanno fatto sentire accolta e capita. Questa ricerca non per forza deve coincidere con qualcosa di concreto, ma spesso può anche solo essere un ideale.
La storia è narrata dalla prospettiva di Dimka, anche se la voce narrante iniziale è il fratello Viktor. Viktor è più grande, promesso sposo e studioso. Con la sua presenza riusciamo ad avere una duplice prospettiva della gioventù, chi ha già trovato la sua strada (Viktor) e chi ancora la sta cercando (Dimka). Un'ulteriore prospettiva è quella delle famiglie dei ragazzi, generazione distante e soffocante.
Davvero un romanzo leggero che si fa leggere bene. Mi sono un po'persa a causa dei molteplici personaggi introdotti nei vari capitoli ma niente che rendesse difficile la comprensione del libro.
Lo consiglio assolutamente se è piaciuta la lettura de' "Il Giovane Holden" :)

Книга - погружение в романтику 60-х, а кроме этого там пересекается наивность, максимализм, жестокость и страсть юности.
Своеобразие советских нравов (и, мне показалось, быт несколько приукрашен) и гендерное неравенство (оно не подчёркнуто, его просто не замечали, но из сегодняшнего дня это сильно заметно).
Несмотря на трагичность некоторых сюжетов, книга заряжена оптимизмом, похоже это особенность произведений Василия Павловича Аксёнова, как лёгкое изложение и фирменный юмор.
Своеобразие советских нравов (и, мне показалось, быт несколько приукрашен) и гендерное неравенство (оно не подчёркнуто, его просто не замечали, но из сегодняшнего дня это сильно заметно).
Несмотря на трагичность некоторых сюжетов, книга заряжена оптимизмом, похоже это особенность произведений Василия Павловича Аксёнова, как лёгкое изложение и фирменный юмор.

I ragazzi senza un fratello maggiore mi hanno sempre fatto compassione. Peccato, però, che ti adattino i suoi vestiti vecchi. Mai una volta che ti facciano un abito nuovo. Devi sempre portare la roba usata di tuo fratello maggiore. E questo ancora non lo puoi sopportare, ma che a tavola parlino continuamente dei suoi successi e te lo presentino come esempio da seguire è una cosa che proprio non ti va giù. E va avanti così per anni e anni. [...] Poi, quando diventi alto come lui e hai ancora da crescere chissà quanto, cominci a guardarlo con altri occhi. «Звездный билет» заканчивается за звенящий ноте светлой грусти. Горе, которое тебе не убило, но заставляет вернуться к истокам и попытаться от них зарядиться, чтобы снова двинутся. И в этот раз уже по какой-то скорректированной траектории, ведь комета подшибла.
Бунт молодежи; как безбашенно, оказывается, можно было бунтануть в 60е. Удивительный фоновый оптимизм, даже когда сыпятся первые любови и сыпятся кандидатские. Идеалисты. Хочется сидеть с ними у костра всю ночь. Они как будто безответственные дети и как будто проводники в будущее. И так хочется мечтать, что они не станут взрослыми, кто теряет свои крылья и свой звездный билет.

Un libro spensierato e leggero, con dei dialoghi talmente cinematografici che mi sembrava di leggere un copione mentre avevo le immagini negli occhi.
Il protagonista mi ricorda molto il mio amato Holden, anche nella sua formazione graduale, anche se l’evoluzione di Dimka mi ha toccato ancora di più.
Leggendolo sentivo proprio l’aria di libertà che si respirava in Unione Sovietica con il disgelo post-staliniano, e mi emozionavo al pensiero di come i lettori del tempo potessero sentirsi davanti ad un libro cosí dirompente.
Il protagonista mi ricorda molto il mio amato Holden, anche nella sua formazione graduale, anche se l’evoluzione di Dimka mi ha toccato ancora di più.
Leggendolo sentivo proprio l’aria di libertà che si respirava in Unione Sovietica con il disgelo post-staliniano, e mi emozionavo al pensiero di come i lettori del tempo potessero sentirsi davanti ad un libro cosí dirompente.

Questo romanzo di Aksënov è il tripudio della gioventù spensierata nei brevi anni del "disgelo" chrušëviano. La musica (jazz, soprattutto), la voglia di evadere, di lasciarsi tutto alle spalle e di partire all'avventura, per un periodo "sabbatico" dopo le superiori. La chiave è ovviamente il rapporto tra fratelli e, in particolare, con il fratello maggiore. Il confronto tra due modi di interpretare gli anni più belli, tra chi incanala tutte le proprie energie nella scienza e in una carriera meritata (il maggiore), ancorché preordinata, e chi invece si butta a capofitto nell'ignoto, senza avere particolari progetti di vita in mente (il minore).
Il libro si fa leggere molto agevolmente, l'atmosfera è piacevole. Totalmente assente la politica, se non si contano alcune battute e riferimenti alla situazione dell'epoca (la crisi dei missili a Cuba). Battute stereotipate, su Fidel (si intende, a favore di Fidel), proferite tuttavia con ingenuo distacco e senza alcun particolare ragionamento. Come se la politica non riguardasse più la nuova gioventù postbellica, fosse sparita dagli interessi di una generazione. Uno dei motivi per i quali il romanzo, pur col suo successo, non venne più stampato in URSS per molti anni...
Il libro si fa leggere molto agevolmente, l'atmosfera è piacevole. Totalmente assente la politica, se non si contano alcune battute e riferimenti alla situazione dell'epoca (la crisi dei missili a Cuba). Battute stereotipate, su Fidel (si intende, a favore di Fidel), proferite tuttavia con ingenuo distacco e senza alcun particolare ragionamento. Замечательная, прекрасная книга. Все в ней есть - задор молодости, искание себя в этом мире, вопрос "зачем я?", лето, солнце, беспечность. Получил огромное удовольствие и от книги, и от фильма "Мой младший брат" по книге.

When I searched for this book and then bought it I didn't know anything more than "Soviet Union bestseller in the 1960s about a bunch of young guys going to Estonia". For my curiosity that was enough for expecting something interesting.
And yet while reading another Russian novel about travelling by train from Moscow to somewhere else (Erofeev's "Moscow to the end of the line") I became more and more sceptical about the possibility of reading Aksyonov's one. Erofeev's writing style was confused and hard to follow in sobriety for really capturing my attention that much, even being able of getting his genius and wit here and there.
In fact, when I finished that book I moved "Ticket to the stars" on a distant shelf, far from my view. I made a mistake.
My cat saved me. While hunting a grasshopper in my room she accidentally throw down Aksyonov's novel, that I had almost forgot meanwhile.
I picked up the book and started to read it for winning insomnia without any serious intention of going that far with it. Contrarily, "Ticket to the starts" turned out to be a refreshing book, about some Moscovite guys in their late teens who decide to win over their boredom going to Tallinn by train with some idealistic dreams of getting a living while there.
The way in which the author write about this bunch of four is really interesting, because of his decision of changing narrator in the different sections of the book. So at first is the older brother of one of the runaway guys, then is the young guy himself, then the story switches to another narrator and so it goes. This might have been confusing but it's not, because of very clear division of the different sections of the novel (I think it helped being published in episodes on a magazine).
At the same time there is another risk that Aksyonov managed to avoid. Writing about Soviet Union in the early 1960s without putting focus on politics and more or less obscure satire about the government was not that easy. And yet this book is about youth, not about Ussr. Of course the frame around the travelling guys is soviet Russia (they find a job in a kolkhoz, they smoke "proletarian cigarettes", they are shameful of having not read enough Turgenev or Tolstoj), but the novelist talks about them, their aspirations, their dreams, their struggle for being independent from their families.
I've read how this book was not particulatly appreciated by the inner circles of Soviet Union when it became popular and now that I finished I can understand the main reasons why. "Ticket to the Stars" was a brave attempt of writing something new, far from the regime literature as well as the creative (and sometimes frankly boring) forms of literary protests against it. Vassily Aksyonov was a step forward.

Quattro diciassettenni che sognano di fuggire dalla noia della città e da un futuro già scritto improvvisano un viaggio rocambolesco verso un'ideale astratto di libertà. La solita storia, verrebbe da dire, se non fosse che qui siamo nell'Unione Sovietica dei primi anni 60, dove l'ombra dello stalinismo è ancora presente, e dove lanciarsi all'avventura come il giovane Dimka e i suoi amici, o portare avanti un'idea contraria al consenso della comunità accademica - come fa suo fratello Viktor - significa remare controcorrente. Ho comperato "Il biglietto stellato" in un mercatino di libri usati, l'ho dimenticato, e l'ho pescato dalla pila prima di partire per un breve soggiorno in Russia. Mi ha tenuto compagnia nel gelo della Siberia e tra le immense strade di Mosca, dove il romanzo si svolge. L'ho apprezzato perché ci ho trovato dentro la frustrazione, la voglia di cambiare, la foga, e anche la naiveté che fanno parte di ogni generazione di giovani, ma in un contesto particolare, dove ogni piccolo risultato ottenuto viene vissuto come una grande vittoria. Ecco i quattro ragazzini in un bar Estone: "Nel café rimbomba la musica ... si fuma e si chiacchiera ... Ci sono tazze, bicchierini, sigarette, fettine di limone coperte da un velo di zucchero. C'è una luccicante macchina-espresso italiana." Per loro, il paradiso. Il romanzo, apparso a puntate in una rivista giovanile moscovita, è andato a ruba proprio perché questi spicchi di libertà facevano sognare migliaia di giovani.
Il biglietto stellato è la storia di due fratelli che sfidano il passato del loro paese. Il biglietto che dà il nome all'opera è il microscopico rettangolo di cielo visibile dal davanzale della grigia casa popolare dove abitano, grande quanto un biglietto della metro: legherà i due fratelli per sempre, ma basterà per portarli dove desiderano?

Ci ho pensato qualche giorno e anche se il giudizio "così così" non rispecchia il mio pensiero, non riesco nemmeno ad attribuirgli le 3 stelle piene, ancora una volta serviva una valutazione intermedia.
Venendo al libro, sintetizzando all'osso con un aggettivo potrei dire ingenuo; sia nella scrittura che, nonostante un certo afflato poetico tipicamente russo, traballa un po' soprattutto nella prima parte; sia nella trama, tipica di un romanzo di "formazione": le traversie di alcuni ragazzi che decidono di uscire dal loro cortile e di affrontare il mondo.
Il tratto più interessante è a mio avviso costituito dallo sfondo, testimonianza di quegli anni di disgelo nell'Urss che usciva da decenni di stalinismo.

Romanzo di formazione del periodo del disgelo russo. Interessante rappresentazione del periodo, visto e vissuto dagli occhi di un ragazzo che cerca di trovare la sua strada, dietro le pressioni della società e della famiglia che lo obbligano a capire cosa dovrebbe diventare nella vita.

The publication of this story in 1961 cost Valentin Kataev the chair of the editor-in-chief of Yunost, however, he was one of those who knows how to return triumphantly, "the downed pilot" is not about him and Aksenov, and now it's not about that. The story that gave rise to a heated debate, which the youth of the sixties knew almost by heart, tells about a company of young people, Muscovites and yesterday's schoolchildren who, instead of going to university or getting a job, go on a trip. Yes, almost according to the tradition of American youth. With the difference that in the USSR there was no such thing in the factory and could not be, and therefore it was perceived as unimaginable courage. Four friends: Galka, a girl, Dimka, the leader of this company, who is in love with her, Alik, a poet, and Yura, a strongman, go to Estonia, to the westernmost border of the Union. There is money for all 1,400 pre-reform rubles, 140 of the then "new" ones.
At first, they're posh, and soon you have to look for a part-time job. While the boys are working as movers, the beautiful Galya, who dreams of becoming an actress, meets a famous artist who is on vacation here and moves in with him. The guys perceive this as a betrayal, Dima is hurt. When the futility of hard work in conditions of homelessness becomes apparent, they go to the fishing state farm, getting a job. After a while, Galya arrives there too. The second narrative line is the story of Victor, Dimka's older brother.Unlike sloppy Junior, he always lived up to the standard of the moral code of the builders of communism. At the age of 28, he is preparing to defend his dissertation in the field of space medicine, and suddenly discovers that his experiments refute the postulates of an entire field of science, which regularly feeds a considerable number of scientists, while nullifying the results of his own dissertation. Common sense dictates to silence the results. having begun publication after the defense, but the ethics of the scientist does not allow Victor to do so, the defense is expected to fail, and he has many enemies in the scientific community.

Aksjonov on üks mu suuri lemmikuid. "Teekond tühjade tünnidega" on nagu mingi hallutsinogeenide peal force majeure. Psühhedeelne jõu- ja ilunumber, mis jääb pähe ketrama nagu mingi rahvalaul, sest tekst koosneb suures osas dialoogidest, ja kõik räägivad midagi alailma korrutades, väikeste variatsioonidega. Eks omajagu "süüdi" selles meeldejäävuses on ka Teet Kallase tõlked - ta on üldse tõlkinud nii paljud super-LRid sellest ajastust. Tähepilet oli ammu lugemisootel, kohe ilmumise ajast saati. Osta ma seda ei saanud, sest kolisin just enne ilmumist mitmeks aastaks kaugetele maadele ära, ja nüüd siis alles leidsin ta ühe taaskasutuspoe raamaturiiulilt.
Eks ma aimasin, et nii hea see debüütromaan küll olema ei saa, kui ta hilisemad tekstid. Need nooremast peast kirjutatud lühijutud LRis ei olnud üldse nagu sama inimese kirjutatud, kui hilisemad raamatud. Ent Tähepiletist tuleb ikkagi Aksjonov välja. Sellisena, nagu ta mul südames on. Kuigi jah, see üsna väikesemahuline tekst on stiili poolest üsna ebaühtlane. Raamat algab suure hooga, hüppab ja kargab ühelt kergemeelselt ja ka paljuski klišeelikult teemalt (mis toonase nõukarealismi kontekstis küll tunduvad tõepoolest väga riigivastased, ameerikaiharad ja üldse kuidagi huligaanlikud) teisele hinge tõmbamata - just nagu Godardi debüütfilm "À bout de souffle". Ent kui väikevend jõuab Eestisse, tekib tekstis mingi resignatsioon. Pulseerivus asendub oluliselt tasapaksema horisontaalsusega, mis muidugi klapibki rannas tühja vedelemise laiskeluga paremini. Edasi läheb asi lausa kalurikolhoosiromaaniks, kus reipus ilmnebki eelkõige plaanitäitmise tähistamisest tingitud lõbususena. See stilistiline teekond on nii lühikese teksti sees päris pöörane kohe.
Ent nagu Godardi debüütfilmiski, mille maakeelne pealkiri on "Hingetu", ei jää sellest kõigest väga palju kõrvade vahele pidama. Lõbusate sellide lõbusad hõiked on küll teravmeelsed ja kavalad, kuid liialt lühikesed, et need mäluradari poolt registreeritaks. Smuul oleks kohe virutanud, et lõngused, krt! Пятидесятники (Виктор) ещё пытаются оправдывать ожидания родителей, но уже чувствуют, что "самостоятельность" (эвфемизм для свободы) важнее чужих ожиданий.
Шестидесятники (Димка) хотят чего-то другого, но чего, они и сами ещё не знают - по крайней мере, в 1961 году. Им хочется ломать кувалдой стены, ехать, плыть, бежать подальше, - но зачем, ещё неясно. Им нравится красить свой корабль в красный цвет и петь "Комсомольцы-добровольцы" ("услыхать соловья на рассвете... ").
Для Виктора воспользоваться свободой - значит, потерять её. Мысль произнесенная есть ложь (очень в духе 60-х!).
Виктор несвободен, и сам это понимает. Димка свободен, и не понимает этого. "Поймет тот, кто откажется понимать". Откажется понимать двойственность профессора Дубль-ве. Откажется понимать, почему нельзя выступить против всего академического сообщества, когда оно заблуждается.
Простить ошибшуюся девушку теперь можно. А простить учёного, скрывшего правду из уважения к авторитетам, - нельзя. Ни легкомысленную девушку, ни коварную науку любить не стыдно, потому что это чувство искренно (ключевое понятие культуры шестидесятых). "Не надо литавр, хватит с нас и гитары".

Типичные шестидесятые, и тут это скорее минус, чем плюс. Все восторженные отзывы и восхваления таких особенных, таких ищущих, таких ярких и честных героев спотыкаются о типичный недостаток книг и фильмов того времени – женские персонажи в них не люди, а функции. Мир советских шестидесятых, при всей его романтике, исключительно маскулинный. Женщины в этих произведениях не мыслят (заметили, что все "искания" в повести только у парней? Галка же просто существует на их фоне как красивый объект), не задают себе вопросов, не пытаются построить жизнь по-новому. У меня есть серьезные подозрения, что в романах какого-нибудь Толстого у женских персонажей было больше субъектности и дееспособности, чем в прозе шестидесятников.

One of the best novels about youth, I've read. I first believed, that Aksjonov was in his midlife, when he wrote it, since he is giving a very mature insight to being a younge and restless person. The story is universal although it takes place in The Soviet Union in 1960. An absolutely wonderful book about high hopes, love, friendship, freedom,... the life of 17 years old highschool friends. Read it!

Il biglietto stellato è uno di quei romanzi scorrevoli e leggeri che portano con sè un significato profondo.
I protagonisti sono giovani pieni di speranze e sogni in perfetta sintonia col clima del disgelo in cui è inserita la vicenda. Ho apprezzato tutto del loro viaggio, persino le decisioni stupide e le scelte più avventate.
Il rapporto fraterno tra Dima e Vitja mi ha fatta davvero affezionare a questo libro.

This is a great book by Aksyonov, the first I have read of his works. It focuses on two brothers growing up in the 1960s in Russia and has more in common with those times in the US than I would have imagined. I think it reflects how youth are pretty much the same world wide irregardless what regime controls the country. I have heard one's 20s can often be seen as a wilderness and this book certainly reflects that. A fantastic read but one that is hard to find on library shelves for some reason.

It is just a good book. Of course it is old and male-centered, a bit like Hemingway, but the wording is good, the characters are substantial, not cardboard, the plot is ok, and there is some philosophy. So in the end has a good aftertaste.
