"Red Week" a thriller set in a 1980's South American military dictatorship tells how Police Inspector Amalio Cruz copes with the most demanding and dangerous seven days of his life. The Inspector is a busy man keeping both his wife and his mistress in the style to which they've become accustomed. Funding their expensive tastes means doing the occasioianl favour for local drugs baron El Chico but when he's asked to track down the ELR Marxist guerrilla group's most attractive member Coretta Sanchez, a girl who's recently stuck a knife into EL Chico's son, he rapidly finds himself under threat from more than one direction. Cruz needs the help not only of his compadre Tomas but also the assistance of an Evangelical Protestant gang leader and even the local CIA agent to save both Coretta and himself from the attentions of ganagsters, revolutionaries and rogue policemen while at the same time he tries to keep his superiors off his back by solving the crime he's officially meant to be working on. He really deserves better, after all for most of the time he's an honest cop
