My name is Teremie—yes, it’s a T, not a J, thanks for asking—Summers. Maybe you’ve heard of me? Only Fae. Ring any bells? I might not be an A-lister in Hollywood, but you’d be surprised how many people will spend good coin to see me dress—and undress—like a sexy elf. Speaking of magic and Hollywood . . . when my best friend asks me to come along for moral support to his audition for The Prince’s Quest for the Cursed Coin, an up-and-coming epic fantasy adventure, I expect to do a lot of handholding. Instead, I’m cast in a starring role . . . as an elf, not the prince.

No, that role goes to the once-cute-teen-star, turned smokin’ hot, all grown up, wolf-shifter Kade Savage. His star shone super bright fifteen years ago, but like a shooting star, lit up the sky and vanished. This movie is his ticket back to fame, so he’s all business and allergic to fun of any sort—including the carnal kind.

Annoyingly, Kade’s not swayed by my considerable charms, even if I catch him giving me big-bad-wolf eyes when he thinks I’m not looking. Worse, the wolf pretty much hates me. The feeling’s mutual, even though his low, growly voice sends tingles down my spine and makes my heart beat a little faster.

When a gold prop coin keeps ending up in my pocket during filming, I can’t help thinking someone’s pulling some kind of silly prank. That joke turns into a nightmare when we suddenly end up in a fantasy scene that doesn’t seem to be part of any movie set. My wolf prince has transformed into a dragon, I’ve developed actual elf ears, and murderous creatures are definitely not using prop weapons. In fact, someone really wants us dead. Trapped together, we have to get home. Or die trying. And it seems—unless this stupid prop coin has some luck stored in it—we just might.

Yesss, this was entertaining af and I couldn’t stop listening - totally invested in the characters and plot. Michael Ferraiuolo did a good job, but could’ve done better if you ask me.



Anyway. I’m a tiny bit frustrated with this series right now. The good narrators perform for the books I’m not interested in and the books I really want to get my hands on either don’t have an audio out yet at all or I don’t like the narrator. Ugh!! Hopefully the rest of them comes to audio soon too.

I was hooked from page one! Idk what it was about this, but it just clicked with me, and I won’t question it. This book must have caught me at the right time. I have liked the other books by Meghan Maslow, so this will go along with the others that I liked.

This definitely lacked the more romantic side of the romance, and you could predict everything that was going to happen but apparently today that didn’t matter to me haha!

I will definitely make this apart of my reread Rolodex lol!

More fantastic fae fun from Meghan

I love Meghan's writing, she manages to perfectly blend great world building with humour to craft really great stories.

Here Coin is more involved but still missing its voice, but I liked how Meghan played into the dual sides of the images on Coin's faces to influence the way the plot was going.

I loved all the characters in this book, apart from the baddies obviously, and I'd very much like Ali and Rory's romance next please!

I will say though, the Blurb doesn't really reflect how the narrative goes.

This was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed it. Also, can’t complain about Michael Ferraiuolo doing the narration. My only complaint was that the ending felt slightly rushed, and the twist was slightly predictable.. but that honestly didn’t but me at all. It was an easy, low-angst read and I had a lot of fun with it!

This one was a disappointment for me as a fan of Meghan Maslow, but I’ve seen many very positive reviews. The pacing was a struggle for me, with the main character not meeting the love interest until 26% and having a few friend interactions before their first kiss turns into sex at about 50%.
Magic hints are dropped throughout but the last 15-20% was still confusing and I found the end left too many loose ends.
It felt like a struggle to balance a lot of elements thrown in with the filming process confounded by a set diva who hates the MC, MC’s evil ex, and scandals and tabloids being the focus of the first chunk.
And then later things switch to magic battles.

I was thrown by the ending apparently saying the MC can never leave this one random forest again?
And I didn’t feel like we got enough of an explanation of what happened. Did hundreds of extras die on set from goblin attacks? Was evil ex possessed?
Did drunk faun director cause the prophecy to happen by getting MC there, or was it going to happen at a predetermined time?
Why were all those forces meeting there fighting? Who is ruling since MC decided to just live in the woods and not go be a prince?
It was all pretty bewildering.

Six Characters in Search of a Plot

Reads as if the author had frantically cobbled together scenes from multiple scraps of paper, with no regard for plot, characterisation or credibility.

It never bodes well when the MCs don't meet till 25% & by 50% I'm still wondering where the plot is. Round about 75%, the book lurched into 5 plots simultaneously, and I gave up.

Bruce the Horse had more sense than anyone else involved.

I have read a number of books in this multi-author series - and I think, Maslow's Fae for Pay is probably (so far) the one that uses the magical fae coin THE MOST. It is featured heavily on the book, as something of a clue about our wonderful Teremie Summers, and I loved that. Also this book felt more of found family with Teremie making so many new friends, from other humans, vampires, even horses. It was fun!

Yes, there was romance with that child-actor turned gorgeous adult-actor, wolf shifter Kade Savage. But Kade didn't exactly appeared until about 1/4th part of the book? Also the romance felt rather fast (and I wasn't 100% happy with the fact that when Kade appeared he was still in a relationship with a woman; because it seemed he moved on to Teremie that quick after breaking up with her). Although yes, Teremie and Kade had SPARKS together, and boy their sexy times!! *fans self*

But yes, I loved this for the camaraderie and the gazillion characters introduced. Because now I want Ali and Rory had their own book of happily ever after too. Maybe also Leo, poor thing. I won't mind meeting up with the whole crew again somewhere down the line. Who knows, maybe Maslow will make =this one a new series.

The set-up had a lot of interesting ideas that could have fueled a really fun novel!
Unfortunately, I feel like the author was attempting to do way too much in too short of a novel. The pacing was all over the place and the escalation of the plot was kind of OTT and a mess.

I wish the author had stuck to the initial, low stake premise of the outcast elf-like actor MC filming a Fantasy movie with the wolf-shifter celebrity hunk. Instead, the stakes escalated crazily, the various ideas abandoned before they could be fleshed out (the OnlyFae thing could have been entirely scrapped and it wouldn't have changed anything of importance) and the relationship development was left rushed and very barebones in order to fit in the "epic" plot - which was imo frankly neither very interesting nor particularly well executed.

It's a shame, since I usually enjoy books about filming and I really loved Megan Maslow's Much Ado About Demons.

Finding good mm romantacy is always a challenge, but this was well written, well paced, featuring an adorable super-fan-meets-his-celebrity-crush type romance, and contained ZERO chapters where I felt bored, bombarded with information, or irritated by imitation.

This is a truly an original storyline with lovable characters; the 'found family' aspect was so heartwarming. I had such low expectations for this book but the reality blew me away; this author has been upgraded to my insta-buy list. Perfect pacing, satisfying ending, and the MCs were very lovable. Well done.

Ooh what a great story! I'm gonna see what else I can find by this author. They really let the coin play a major role, which I loved, and the magical stuff was very interesting and cool. Great characters too! Good chemistry between the MC, and the secondary characters were delightful. This is definitely one of the top stories of this multi-author collaboration.

There are quite a few misspellings, and a few random characters, like the zero in r0ugh, but the writing is still great imo, and the errors don't really detract.

As much as I like the author's brand of quirky urban fantasy, I'm sorry to say this book didn't quite work for me. I think it might be suffering from the multi-author series syndrome. The general idea is to take a few set ingredients, add some original ones, shake up, stir, and come up with a bunch of new interesting stories with a common theme. The problem is, some of them give the impression of a very random improvised stew that hasn't cooked quite long enough and this one sadly feels like that to me.

Not to say it's not entertaining. It does have a lot of fun elements, like the whole 'fae for pay' idea or the accents game that Rory and Teremie are playing, but there's also the whole mess with an evil ex, an old crush suddenly turned into a fated mate after a serious case of insta-lust, and the complication-riddled filming process, all of which might have used a bit more stirring to blend well together. And that's even before we get to the final magic battle. I think it would have made a lot more sense if we'd had a better idea what the movie was supposed to be about, but as it is, the whole resolution felt rushed and rather confusing. And oh, if the book their movie was based on (literally 'The Elves' Cursed Coin') was supposedly such a classic, you'd think someone would get a clue and at least try to connect the stubbornly appearing piece of metal with that story.

On the plus side, the characters were delightful as usual with this author, I loved the strong found family vibes and if Rory and Ali ever get their own story, I'd definitely want to read that one.

All in all, many readers seem to have enjoyed this book much more than me, so it probably depends on how nitpicky you are. Rather than look for sense and logic, it might be better if you just sit back and enjoy the crazy ride.

A great addition to the series

This was wonderful! I’m so in love with Teremie and Kade. I found them interesting and I felt the chemistry. The lead up to the climax was well done and I loved the little hints that things weren’t what they seemed. The antagonists were a little one dimensional but it worked with the fantasy of the story.

I hope we eventually get Ali and Rory’s story too, as this one left me with a huge smile!

Okay, I haven't read any other stories in this series of books, but I don't think it really mattered as my understanding is the common theme is a magical coin. I thought that part was done well, with the coin indicating whether something awful would befall Teremie (I kind of love that name) or something great.

I did think that cheating on your boyfriend should not make you a paraiah, especially in LA where I think it's a way of life for the famous, but anyway. Despite me thinking that seemed a stretch, I enjoyed all of the group surrounding Teremie and his relationship with childhood crush Kade, even if towards the end I had no idea what was happening and the movie director had my head spinning and I had no idea what was happening in which dimension and the point really? And what was up with the deer thing? So confused.

But despite my confusion, I thought it was lots of fun and I do enjoy ensemble casts so curious about Rory and Alistair in an upcoming book. I hope Rory makes him grovel or something good. I enjoy the author's writing and worlds even if in this case I was just along for the ride and about as clueless as Teremie as to what was happening.

Fae for Pay is a new installment in the multi-author Fortune Favors the Fae collaborative world. It’s not necessary to have read any of the other books, as the connection between the books is that a mysterious coin plays a role in getting the MCs to their happily ever after. Maslow has crafted a story where said coin is very active in getting Teremie to his HEA and the story has a huge twist that even I didn’t see coming.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It hit all the right notes for me.

this series is becoming my absolute fav! we follow the journey of the coin as it helps kade and teremie get together.

kade savage, a wolf shifter and a child actor who is making a comeback through this project based on a novel.

teremie summers, a “human” who had suffered a scandal due to his ex boyfriend and now has a only fae account. (loving the word play) his world is thrown into chaos when he gets casted into a new production.

there is a vampire, wolf shifter, a poppy and a rory 😂 i loved their friendship so much, and would have loved to see rory and Alistair relationship more! They were fun! Loved it so much! A very lighthearted read and a great addition to the series💕

i did want a little more of kade saving teremie, and a little more action from kade. but still a wonderful read!

Excellent characterization and pacing! I couldn’t put Fae for Pay down, finishing it all at once on a snowed-in afternoon. I loved all the characters -would absolutely read a book about Rory and Ali- and would have pushed Matt in front of a train for Teremie! I wish we had gotten some of Kade’s POV, but that’s pretty much my only complaint. I’d recommend this one for fantasy or romance fans!

Fae for Pay is the new fantasy novel by Meghan Maslow for the multi-author series, Fortune Favors the Fae, with a magical traveling two sided Fae gold coin as a connecting point.

An immediate plus goes to Maslow’s use of the fae magical coin in the storyline.It was imaginative,interesting, and a large enough of a element in the plot to make it narratively visible throughout the story.

I enjoyed all the engaging characters who have the potential for more than just one book. They were fun to get to know and enjoy along the journey. However the universe building has need of considerably more foundation information. It’s spotty at best.

We’re given to understand it’s a world that encompasses humans, vampires and werewolves but not other paranormals. Why no other species isn’t said. Not much more information is laid out about magic or paranormal phenomena other than that which is puzzling. Nor do we have any background history on if this has always been true or a historical event.

Teremie Summersis a human whose life has been changed for the worse by his ex. Known falsely as Teremie the cheater because of actions by his ex, he’s survived by streaming as an elf on his Only Fae channel and rooming with his best friend, actor Rory.

When Sheila Levy, their agent informs Rory of a actors call for a movie that’s from Rory’s childhood best book, The Elves Cursed Coin/The Prince’s Cursed Coin, it’s both of them who end up answering the call.

The story begins there, following them to the remote set location, and all the weird shenanigans that occur throughout the filming process. The story continues with the filming as relationships form between Teremie and Kade, and between other friends in the cast.

That would be Rory McMahon, friend from childhood and Alistair the vampire, also an actor.

Kade Savage, actor, wolf shifter, fated mate, is a very interesting character with a neat twist that comes into play further in the storyline. But Maslow does with this terrific element as with others here, it doesn’t get developed fully into the highly complex aspect of this thread that it could. Which is the main issue I found here.

Maslow has many great elements and neat ideas thrown in here that while some pop up consistently throughout the story (woodland animals on Teremie and Rory’s porch on the set, the wicked crows, pixies,etc), these details aren’t explored or tied into a specific story elements in a clearly defined way. So much of the story is written like this that eventually the reader just doesn’t look for any explanations or reasonable tie in to a storyline.

The dramatic reveal is strange because the reader is unfamiliar with the story of the book the plot of the movie is based upon. Had the author included more details, it would have given clarity and depth to the story and characters actions. It would have helped give foundation too a narrative that’s often not making sense. It’s fun and the characters are charming in their own way. But pulled together it’s just not.

Fae for Pay has so many great characters and good ideas. But a cohesive story and foundation is lost somewhere. It’s still a lot of fun and has the potential to spin off another romance for two characters in need of HEA.

Fun for lovers of the author and the series.

[Sudsana Reads (mostly smut)]

DNF @30% on 2nd Oct, 2025. Even Michael Ferraiuolo couldn’t save this. Late character intro (LI), just too much non stuff going on and i absolutely could not see how Tee would end up with Kade. Kade has a gf, they had a wrong footing, no motivation was ever shown as to why he’d be attracted to/pursue Tee. So i couldn’t invest on their romance if i simply didn’t believe in them.

Also, the title of the book and blurb made it sound like him being a camboy would be a big part of the story, but NOPE. That was an afterthought too. It’s just about him being an actor on a film set.

It has good and bad, here are my notes:

It’s kinda confusing. So Teremih (Tee) is a human cosplaying elf on OnlyFae but also an ex youtuber. He was apparently also disgraced for an alleged cheating on a videogame by his pos ex bf matt. So Tee and his bff Rory go audition for a Fae movie. Then, while on a remote location, he does his OF stuff. There’s just too much going on with this guy. i loved the OF parts though.

🔹LOVED Rory and wish there was a book on him and Alistair.

♦The story is mostly focused on Tee as an actor working on a film set, describing his work, and discovering who he is. Even the romance seems like an afterthought.

♦Kade, the 2nd MC and established actor, doesn’t even show up till 24%!! Instead we’re stuck with so much focus on the lowlife hyde that i honestly thought he was the 2nd MC. Had to keep checking the blurb to be sure. Kade was nowhere to be seen.

♦Not much happens to warrant the sex/sex act at 50%. No buildup, we only know Tee likes Kade. i didn’t stick around to find out what happened.

♦Kade too thinks Tee is a cheater, walks in on Tee doing his OF show. So he’s not impressed. Plus he has a gf. Later he apologises and acts nice, brings food, but i couldn’t see his motivations cuz we don’t get his pov at all. The love/like still felt way more from Tee’s side, probably cuz this is basically the actor + top fan trope.

♦This was actually a contemporary-ish spin on the fantasy faes which i thought was an interesting take. Here, vampires, wolves all exist and the human MC might not be human, really.

Teremie’s ex Matt betrayed him and his best friend Rory for clout by claiming Teremie is a cheating liar on their live stream. Now Teremie is often recognized as a dirtbag. Matt’s actions also killed their YT channel so Teremie now streams porn as himself dressed as a fae. Teremie was hreatbroken and left with lower self-esteem as Matt chipped away at it during the 8 years they were together.

When Teremie ends up working on the movie Rory auditioned for, he is absolutely thrilled to make fast friends with two fellow actors. He's also shocked by the intense draw he feels toward Kade and how close they become but equally dismayed bc Kade has a girlfriend. Teremie's also the victim of random and deadly attacks on set that seem related to a coin he can’t get rid of. With his friends and Kade by his side, he begins to unravel the mystery around the coin but not before he ends up yanked into another world.

Fae for Pay is entertaining, but I have mixed feeling about the story. I’m a sucker for a great found family dynamic, and it is strong here. I really love the friends that Teremie has and acquires, and Kade is a great MC and just what Teremie needs. However, the story is mostly only engaging bc I like the characters and am happy that Teremie finds people he trusts and begins to value himself again. The plot is repetitive sometimes, and the pace is a bit too slow. This is also true of Kade and Teremie’s relationship bc even when they finally get together, they are immediately kept apart.

The blurb also gives the impression that this would be more of a portal fantasy given that “when the UST between [them erupts]” it is quite a bit before the fantasy battle which suddenly happens at 90% and lasts about 20mins in a 7hr story. However, there still hasn’t been a book from Maslow I haven’t enjoyed, and this one is no exception. The vibe between Teremie and his friends is so fun and warm; Kade is such a caring and great guy; and Teremie and Kade’s longing looks and pining is (mostly) handled well and makes sense. Ferraiuolo puts in another great performance and makes the story shine. All in all, it’s a good time.

Teremie was betrayed by his BF and now is trying to get back on his feet with an Only Fae account where he does naughty things on camera. The only person who stayed by his side when the ex trashed him is his best friend Rory. Now they both have the chance to work on a big film production and things are looking up. Teremie finds his old childhood crush Kade is one of the actors in the film and he can't stop crushing on him again. Rory is also enamored with one of the film's actors, a vampire named Alistair. And Poppy rounds out their little gang of friends on the film site.

Strange things start happening and Teremie thinks he's imagining them because no one else seems to see or hear them. Slowly the others start seeing and hearing them too and it's getting really weird. Throw in the unfortunate happenstance that Teremie's ex is now on the film site to get interviews from everyone. All the while trying to make Teremie look worse than he already did. Everything comes to a big conclusion at the end of filming and things change for Teremie and Kade.

This is a really good fantasy/romance with some drama/mystery aspects. The world and character building are really good. The story plays out well. Teremie gets some vindication from the trash talking that the ex does but I would've liked his name to be fully cleared. I guess I'm a little blood thirsty because I didn't like that the two baddies don't get proper comeuppance for their acts against Teremie. All in all a solid book and it ties in well with the other books in the Fortune Favors the Fae series. I would love to see Rory and Alistair get their own book. I definitely recommend this book and the whole series.

This was good, but not great. There was just A LOT going on in this and, while it was highly entertaining, I feel this would've been better served as its own series, not a part of another one. There were just way too many questions left involving magic, fae, two worlds, etc.

It was a fun story, highly entertaining. Teremie is adorable and Kade is a good match for him. Love Alistair and all of his nicknames for Teremie and Rory's just adorable. The sexy times with Kade and Teremie are hot, but there's also a lot of relationship building (though, admittedly, that comes pretty quick, but hey, fated mates and all that), not just with the MC and his mate, but also with their friend group. They all become very protective, very supportive of one another. A very loving environment, something Teremie really seems to need.

BUT....seriously, way too many questions were left, and not just with the ending. The world building seemed only half finished and, like I said, if this was actually its own series, it had potential to be really great

Also, this needed to be edited better. There were plenty of grammatical errors, spelling errors (pretty sure a zero '0' was used once in place of an 'o'. Tsk tsk!).

As I said, this is good, not great, but if the writer decides to write more in this universe, I may be on board with it.

As for the rest of Fortune Favors the Fae.....well, there's only 3 books left, I might as well finish it off, right? This series has been so-so, some hits, some misses, and I'm looking forward to seeing how well the next one goes. Onward to I Destroyed the Elf Prince's Harem!

There’s a lot to enjoy here: Teremie is one heck of a hero, and his kindness and care for others blended with his sense of humor and strong moral code are lovely. It’s amazing watching him recover from past hurts and find new friends and his fated partner while on what has to be the weirdest film set ever. Compelling premise, awesome supporting characters (minus the evil ex, who is a tool in all the worst ways), and a magical coin that’s just the tip of the mystery iceberg, yes please. That said, while the buildup for all the magical weirdness was *chefs kiss* (the fairytale-princess-esque bond with animals, the intermittent supernatural peril, the inexplicable archery and equestrian skill etc. all offered a perfect blend of funny, foreboding, and sweet, somehow) the resolution to it all felt rushed and, if I’m honest, a little bittersweet: there’s an HEA for sure, but also some “terms and conditions” for one of our heroes that are quite restrictive, so… yay?

Tl;dr: this book is super fun, ridiculously creative, and has a protagonist who’s uncannily easy to like: it’s mostly a fabulous read, as long as you’re prepared for many of the plot threads to tie themselves into the equivalent of “magical weirdness, just go with it” at the end.

Let me just start by saying that the blurb is super misleading.

1. The blurb says that the two MCs don't like each other, and that is not the case at all. There's an awkward encounter, a misunderstanding that lasts about 10 pages, and then they admit their attraction 20 pages later. No hating involved - at all.

2. You get the impression that the coin transfers them to another realm, when in reality it's just that there are actual monsters on the movie set (at least, that's what I get from other reviews. At 70% with only about 60 pages left, it hasn't happened yet and it doesn't look like it's going to happen soon.)

The writing also had some errors throughout that made it a bit difficult to try to read further.

On the positive side, I liked the MCs and the buildup had a lot of potential. There were a few 'incidents' that could have been murder attempts, and the MC was starting to get the hang of using the coin. Furthermore, there was a salty ex in league with what I assume is the antagonist, and they caused some trouble that could have been drama had it just been stretched out a bit.

Overall, this could have been great if the blurb didn't set unrealistic expectations, the book was at least 50 pages longer, and it went through another round (or two) of editing.

Do NOT start this novel based on the description. Whoever wrote it should be fired. Teremie is not trying to seduce anyone, Kade is not stuck up at any point...


I usually can't stand the fated mates thing, but this one was great. There was lust at first sight and love at first bite, but a lot of time went by between the two.


I really liked Teremie. He will not get onto my favorite characters list, but it was nice to see him come out of his shell and grow into the confident person he was always supposed to be. In this regard I think this book is awesome.

Some of the secondary characters are worth mentioning, too. Kade was really lost on me, I didn't care much about him, but I think it's great that the alpha werewolf doesn't have to be some overbearing abusive asshole. I can get behind that. But my favorite was Alistair, I really hope I can read his and Rory's story.

I also loved the action, there was a lot going on and at times I was really swept up in it. Even the movie scenes took me in, but at the end at the battle, I couldn't put it down.

I'll check out the author's other books for sure.

Fae for Pay is an excellent addition to the Fortune Favors the Fae multi-author series.
It’s rarely I read a book that I can so easily envision. I think this would translate well onto the big screen. There is so much rich detail and wonderfully drawn characters I felt like I was right there with them from start to finish. The secondary characters are just as important as Teremie and Kade and the care taken to show who they are and what they contribute to the piece adds color and/or context to what is going on in any scene. I was just as invested in these characters as I was in Kade and Teremie.
The storyline is so well done that I was immersed in the pages till the very end. (I have a love/hate relationship with that infernal coin after reading other FFF books.) The hints and teasing from the author kept me guessing until the “big reveal”. And it is an impressive climax that had me sitting back and shaking my head in wonder. This is some good stuff.
I’m glad Teremie and Kade got to know one another before becoming intimate. Once they got there, the pages were smoking hot. Their emotional connection and great chemistry gave a believable and satisfying HEA.
I hope to see more from this world.
I look forward to more from this author and this series.
