Gambling, gangsters, and gunplay. High drama seasoned with low humour. Following on from the novel Previous Time Lucky, Mafia bookmaker Cardo is determined to uncover the secret of how young Bobby Marshall and his buddies managed to win nearly two hundred thousand dollars from his illegal gambling empire in just a few months. He sets Vince and Mario, two of his most deadly enforcers, on the trail of the teenagers to kidnap them and force the secret from them, and the pair look forward to an expenses paid trip that will climax in revenge against the kids who outwitted them previously. This time, the mobsters are determined that things will go their way, and the fearsomely intelligent Vince makes meticulous plans that can’t possibly go wrong. Bobby and his best buddy Mike will need all Mike's cunning and Bobby’s survival skills to beat the mob as plans go astray, resulting in further kidnappings, police pursuits and a wilderness hideout. As the novel races towards the dénouement, the pace increases and Mike begins to figure out a plan. There’s just one drawback, it’s his craziest plan yet. Written with trademark detail that adds realism and plausibility to the plot, like the first novel, this book will have you laughing out loud at the misfortunes of the flawed characters. Set against a backdrop of US cities and wilderness areas from the east coast to the west, and points in between, the novel expresses the author’s fondness for America and road trips.
Chris Robb is the pen name of two brothers, both avid readers of fiction, and it was a chance remark over a family meal in an Italian restaurant that sowed the seeds for their first book. When one brother asked the other about what he was reading, the reply, 'Well, I think I could do better' led to a challenge being thrown down. Consequently, the first chapter of a crime novel was written by one brother and sent by email. The other went one better and outlined a whole book and 'Previous Time Lucky' was born. An equal partnership was agreed and the authors worked together developing the plot, characters and dialogue that finished up in the final edit. The authors both live in the north of England, but have travelled widely, visiting North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Numerous vacations have been spent (separately) travelling in the USA, driving over twenty thousand miles and visiting 30 states between them. Their hobbies have included: car maintenance, chess, climbing, computers, cycling, DIY, keeping fit, reading, sailing & yachting, scuba diving, shooting, skiing, and travel. One of the authors is a Royal Yachting Association Yachtmaster whose experience includes skippering vessels and serving as a watch leader in the Ocean Youth Trust. Between them the authors have worked at various times as: a shop assistant, kitchen porter, fruit picker, forklift operator, bank clerk, computer operator, computer analyst, retail manager, IT manager, supplier manager, college lecturer, high school teacher, building and repairing computers. They have been on business trips all over the UK, and to the USA, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Morocco in various jobs. Currently both run their own companies renovating, then selling or renting out property. They are both married, one has two daughters, and the other has one daughter. Both have recently become grandads, which now takes up much of their time. Chris Robb can be contacted on chris.robb.uk@gmail.com and the authors would love to hear what you think of their books.
