Good paranormal mystery with the draw of a police procedural and supernatural horror, all rolled into one. Sets the stage for a much wider world of supernatural crime drama, very much in the vein of the X-Files or the Dresden Files.

I am so glad that I bought this book from Indi! I am always afraid to read books by friends, because the books I have read up until recently by friends were not that well written. Indi Martin has done a wonderful job of writing this book. It is a book that I didn't want to put down at all, but when I had to (like sleep or other life events) I was very sad about it. I don't normally do many reviews, so when I do, it is because the book has left a very great impression on me. Thank you for taking the time to pen this amazing book, Indi, I look forward to the other 2. (I am starting the 2nd one now)

Behind the veil.. Dont just buy a kindle copy, get a paper back to treasure. I have a library of over a 1000 books. Ive read over 5,000 in my life. Love this genre and ive read a lot in the Genre. Indi's as good as any of the big name authors ive read. First chapter or two seemed a bit, hmm hard to get into, but after that i was completely absorbed in it. Im annoyed i read it now rather then after theres many more as one book just wasn't enough! Especially given how well it sets the stage for an epic series. Not false flattery here, truly loved it.

An excellent supernatural crime thriller. It takes a little bit to get going, but I loved the relationship between Gina and Morgan, as well as the central mystery plaguing poor Jake. Once I reached the final quarter of the book, I couldn't put it down until I'd reached the end. Looking forward to reading the next title in the series.

Was able to beta read this book before it was published. I felt that the beginning started off just a tad slow, however by the middle I was well invested and by the end (which I can honestly say wasn't quite the direction I saw the story going) I was already looking forward to the sequel.

Overall I thought it started a bit slow and I wish it had gotten to the main story faster. I think Chapter 6 is where it really picked up. I liked the interplay between Harwood and Morgan, even just watching them argue I like how they both felt closer to human than a lot of characters.

The action got a lot gorier than I though that it would and I was glad to see not many punches were pulled. I also liked having this mostly take place in Oklahoma. Everything heads to a direction where you think that you will only get a glimpse of the weird world that Urban Fantasy has become. I was pleasently surprised that in the last %25 of the book you get up close and personal with just how bad some of these abominations can get with some great descriptions.

There were a few stumbling blocks though. I kept hoping that the descriptions would get a little more amped up or weird. The third person perspective bounced around a bit and sometimes it went deep and sometimes it stayed shallow.

I look forward to the possible problems with Gina and Morgan trying to keep themselves on a professional level. And the hints at Gina and Charlie and how that'd affect things. Off to get the next book.

This book had me hooked within the first few chapters and I couldn't wait to see how it turned out. And as a paranormal book it did have me a little scared, but in all the right places! I seriously can't wait to see where the characters' development goes next.

This book was described to me as X-Files meets Call of Cthulhu. It met that description admirably. I thoroughly enjoyed this work from cover to cover. A great start to an intriguing series. I look forward to reading the next installment.

A little slow to begin with but the story is well worth it and the characters really come to life. great read.
