Prior to his first professional work, Tynion was a student of Scott Snyder's at Sarah Lawrence College. A few years later, he worked as for Vertigo as Fables editor Shelly Bond's intern. In late 2011, with DC deciding to give Batman (written by Snyder) a back up feature, Tynion was brought in by request of Snyder to script the back ups he had plotted. Tynion would later do the same with the Batman Annual #1, which was also co-plotted by Snyder. Beginning in September 2012, with DC's 0 issue month for the New 52, Tynion will be writing Talon, with art by Guillem March. In early 2013 it was announced that he'd take over writing duties for Red Hood and the Outlaws in April.
Tynion is also currently one of the writers in a rotating team in the weekly Batman Eternal series.
(A-) 81% | Very Good Notes: Well subtle, no scuttle, subtextual food for thought, goes literary-fiction, symbolic depictions, much meat if little plot.
more like three stars because literally nothing happened in this but i’m always happy to see erica. she’s one of those characters where it’s really funny to see her doing things other than fighting so this arc of just playing with puppies and cutting hair and being sassy on the phone is very silly i’m expecting something big for issue #40 since boom! keeps hyping it up but who knows maybe this arc is going nowhere. and alas i didn’t like what i read of house of slaughter why is that comic even a thing can’t we just consolidate our efforts into erica?!/?:??:!/?:?: to quote sam m from the bachelorette can’t we just keep the main thing the main thing!/?/!:!:!3!?3
i did not expect to have so much to say about so little plot
Aaron and Erica have the funniest relationship with one another and I was so excited that we got to see more of that in this issue. I'm eagerly awaiting the day where we get an entire story of Erica and Aaron kicking ass and taking names side by side with all their love to hate attitudes. Also, the kids in this issue were hilarious. I literally laughed out loud when the little girl hung up on Aaron for being rude. Priceless. Oh, and of course Erica would be the only person who would try to give some stranger a haircut while being severely injured and then just shrugging and walking off after. This issue was the funniest so far and I wouldn't be mad at seeing any of these kids making a comeback later on.
Gosh I love this series. In the latest issue, Erica has taken refuge in a kid's treehouse where she's in and out of consciousness. When two girls find her because they're trying to escape the sister whose hair they just cut, they are curious about this girl in the treehouse and her bandana with teeth and why she's bleeding, and what this octopus creature stuffie is.
Erica awakens and is helped along before she heads back out of the treehouse with a warning to the girls to stay out of the woods, especially at night, it's not a wild animal but a monster and she's a monster hunter.
"There was a monster. & nobody else could kill it. But she found the weapons & she took matters into her own hands." "What happened to the monster?" "It was never able to hurt again...not directly."
This isn't an action issue, but still important.
"If you try that again, I'm going to stick you in a garbage disposal."
I really like the calmer feel of this comic issue and see more of the minor characters that Erica had ended up helping. It was very amusing seeing the phone call that happened and I adore how snarky the girl with glasses was.
ME ENCANTA. Puede parecer que no ha pasado nada, pero es la primera vez que vemos a Erica salvando vidas sin tener que volver a ponerse en peligro masacrando monstruos.
