The hardcover isn't out yet so I can't review it as a whole so I'll just put my review under issue 5 for now.
Oh man I don't know if I have the words to describe just how much I love this book and Ram V's and Cagles work on it.
First and foremost the art in this was amazing. Cagle already stood out with his work on the covers of 'tec but has with this series become my favourite comic artist, probably of all time. Every panel looks amazing. Both individually but more important sequentially as well. His work especially stand out in the more emphasized panels. Like his covers his spreads and big panels show just how technically skilled this man is artistically. His shots often feel cinematic in how much drama and emotion they convey. I'm not sure I have a single negative thing to say about his art.
The writer Ram V is absolutely nothing to scoff at either. Dawnrunner was wonderfully moving with some pretty amazing lines. I'm not much of a writer so I find it a bit hard to deliver commentary on it that goes deeper than "ooh story good" but maybe that's all you need to know. Everything from the characters to the overarching plots were written extremely well and left just enough mystery to give it a bit of an unsettling air.
All I can really say about dawnrunner is that it's amazing and probably my favourite comic oat. My only complaint would honestly be that it's too short. Aside from the fact that this was amazing and I just wanted more, it felt like it could've maybe used another issue or two to progress the story a bit smoother and flesh out some of the concepts and characters a bit more.

This series should win an Eisner. Can’t believe how much was packed into 5 issues!

4.5
Just binged the entire series -- excellent synthesis of many of the great sci-fi tales of the past forty years into one emotional and beautifully-crafted new story. The ending of this final issue feels a bit rushed, unfortunately, but I still was moved by the experience. Series as a whole: 4.5 out of 5.

This was such a good series! Sad to see it go :') Honestly, the ending was a bit confusing for me personally but I still enjoyed it. Sometimes with series like this, I wish the ending was just 1 issue longer to succinctly wrap things up. But despite that small critique; this has made it to my top 5 comic series I've read this year! Love all the creatives behind this work ❤️🩹‼️🦭

That was damn good. Those last few pages were very emotionally evocative without laying it on thick.
Enough said. Hope we get a sequel series.

Intense sci-fi about human techno-evolution.
#5 - "We turn ourselves into terrible things to save what we can. That's not so monstrous, is it?"
