First, this was Raye's DEBUT novel, which seriously says a lot on its own when it's a 5-star read in my book. I had nothing to pick apart or complain about with this book!
The blurb alone made it sound like a thrilling read, add a pretty cover and I was SOLD on reading it ASAP. Raye DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I will say that the way that Raye really made Gabriel's storyline align with the book title "Clean Slate", was absolute magic and such a smart way to play on words. Gabriel leaves the craziness of his past and bad decisions to start over and live a more clean lifestyle. But the past doesn't want to let him move on and comes back with a vengeance. The suspense aspect of the storyline was something that I DEVOURED right from the start (I love having twists and jaw-dropping moments that I didn't see coming at all. Raye had me in the palm of her hands with the suspense alone. This book had my mind spinning with possibilities of what will happen next and it was SO GOOD. I loved Gabriel and Emery together, how she was the motivation for him to continue on a straight path and get away from the fast lifestyle. Overall great read and can't wait to see what Raye writes next!
This is a wonderful debut novel by Wiseman! The characters gave me everything I needed in a story. I loved them, hated them, really hated them, wanted to punch them and hug them. The storyline and plot was so well executed it was like she was telling her own story, and not writing fiction. She made bad human traits relatable with happy endings. There was so much tension and suspense throughout this I wasn't ever sure I knew how it was going to end. It was excellent. The whole book is from the male perspective, which is more rare than not, in my opinion, so that was another plus for me. Job extremely well done for Wiseman!
I absolutely love these characters and the plot allowed the author to provide such compelling details about human behavior at its best and worst. I loved them, I hated them, I wanted more for them, I wanted them to suffer, etc. I love plot twists and tension and this book is full of both. It felt so real.... like listening to a real person telling a story instead of reading fiction. I also appreciated the male POV which is so rare in this type of book and from a debut novel! Very impressive. Can't wait for more books from Raye.
Such an awesome debut novel! This is not my usual choice of genre but I’m so glad I gave it a try - I ended up binging the last couple hundred pages in a weekend because I was so pulled into the story. Loved the book being written from the male character’s point of view, every character was purposeful, and there was enough twists and turns to keep it unpredictable. So much effort invested into detailed descriptions really brought the story to life. I can’t wait to read the other books in the series! Bravo, Raye Wiseman!
Clean Slate's debut novel by Raye Wiseman is written from a young, troubled, male point of view and mind. Think bad boy, gone good! Her book captivates many different genres; mystery, romance and drama to name a few. If you like plot twists and running your imagination wild, then this book is for you! The book is very detailed and descriptive as you will be able to vividly create the characters and scenes in your mind!
You guys!! I could not put this book down! I’m not a big reader but the Author did such a great job drawing you into every character. Only part way in I was hooked and needed to know more about Gabriel’s past and who this mystery woman was he was trying to escape! Is he going to be able to move forward with his life, will this steamy new relationship last? So many questions making you want more! In my option this is definitely a must read! DO NOT pass this up! Seriously can’t wait for book two
A quest for a fresh start - This debut novel will have you wanting more! I felt like I was on the journey for a new beginning with the main character (Gabe) - all of the aches, anxiety, fear, and joy will give you all the feels! This book was full of twists and turns. The suspense will keep you engrossed, trying to uncover a mysterious past while hoping his current interest will give him what he most desires... the explicit encounters will definitely turn up the heat! A must-read!
Debut novel Clean Slate by Raye Wiseman is a journey written from the view point of a damaged young man as he attempts to re invent himself and his new life. With an addictive blend of lust, love, drama and secrets this novel captivates the reader from the start. Raye, Thank You for allowing me to be an Advance Reader. I am looking forward to Book2!
The premise of this story was really intriguing and I was constantly eager to get more information about Gabriel's past. Alec and Olivia were the cutest couple and I couldn't help smiling every time they were on the page! Gabriel was sometimes hard to like and made some decisions I couldn't quite understand. Overall though, it was a good story and I enjoyed it!
This book hooks you in right from the start! I think the characters are really well developed, and the plot definitely keeps you on your toes. Throughout the book you can tell the author is building up to this bombshell, and when it drops you won’t see it coming. Easy book to binge! Can’t wait to see what Raye Wiseman gives us next.
This was a good debut novel, I enjoyed the storyline that had a mix of things to keep hooked like characters you loved and loathed, romance and mystery. Gabe and Emery are polar opposites but make a great couple as she allows Gabe to see the good side of things and want that for himself, however just like everything in life the path isn't always easy.
Clean Slate had my attention from the very beginning and had me guessing throughout. I loved that it was from the man's point of view. Gabe was a man of many layers, along with the rest of the characters. Action and romance, what isn't there to love?
When you can't change your past, run from it and start over. Everyone should get a fresh start when needed. Gabe is no different. He deserved to be happy. Bitter people tried to ruin it but he wouldn't let them!
I loved reading this book, I didn't want to put it down! The character development was great and I loved reading it from a male perspective. My favorite part is always finding out where the title of a book comes into play and this one did not disappoint! I can't wait for Book 2!!
Raye Wisemans' debut novel, Clean Slate, is the story of a young male who tries to escape his past. In doing so, he falls for someone he meets in his new town, but his past is not far behind. This story is fun to read and captures each character perfectly. Can't wait to read Raye's next book!
I absolutely loved this book! It was a nice change to read from Gabe’s perspective, and definitely put a unique stamp on this story. There are twists, there is spice, what more could you want?
This is a new author for me and I m so glad I got the chance to read this book. Such. Good book for a debute. This is a genre I don’t usually read, ur I am glad I did. This story had real life situations that happen everyday. I could not put this book down! part way in I was hooked and needed to know more about this mystery woman Gabriel was trying to escape long with the unexpected plot twists and turns and unpredictable plots and a lot of mystery that kept you wanting to know more. Overall this book kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat until the end.
Raye did a fantastic job for her debut book! It really did have you guessing until the very end. Being inside Gabe's POV was a nice change up, seeing everything from his side without letting the ending get spoiled was fun to see. Emery is the sweet sunshine character who makes him want to do better. This is one of those books that you can't put down because you have to keep reading to figure it all out. The tension, the banter, it was all perfect! I can't wait to see what comes next from Raye <3 Tropes: running from past, good girl/bad guy, college, Spice: 2/5 Plot: 5/5
Oh my! I loved this book! I've never read a story about someone starting over after using drugs. The way that the story is made it's perfect, it shows the way that the main character leaves in the path that he takes to have a clean slate. Honestly I loved all the characters in this book you cannot tell me that all of them were perfect! But the secrets that come out of this book are just heartwrenching to read! You never expect some of the stuff that you see, honest truth I didn't expect half of it and it shocked me but I was like you know what that makes perfect sense now. If you're looking for a book about do overs and happy endings. This is the book for you.
