The end is near, I can feel it in my bones.

Secrets are practically seeping from the seams of this fabricated society. Deceiving you with the pretty allure of all that is promised. Descending you into the inky black reality of this world’s past, present and future.

If we can all survive, what kind of future awaits us. Forever servants to the tyrants that have ruled Salem for over three hundred years?

What if the history books got it wrong, though?

What if the past isn’t what it seems?

What if it can help us rewrite the future?

The casket is closing, we’re running out of time. No matter which way this goes, it’s going to be someone’s Demise.

i can’t believe how fast i flew this series, they were just so entertaining. this final book was my least favorite though, i felt like it was both too long and somehow rushed at the same time. i was living for all the different relationship developments between the guys outside of their romance with Skyla though. the witch side of the plot was so random, but i won’t act like it wasn’t hinted at throughout the series. Liam and Asher are my favorites out of the guys and i did like the sex scenes but there was also too many of them.. i started to get bored after a while. it wrapped up in a nice bow which i wasn’t expecting for some reason. i loved the audiobooks cause the narrators all did an amazing job!

I received an arc for my honest review.

I finished this book a few days ago and I’m still struggling on how to write my review. I absolutely devoured the first two books. Completely obsessed. But this one…. Just didn’t work for me. The men went from being morally grey to just overall shitty. One of them felt predatory, another we find out some disturbing things he did in his past and then there was just no redemption arc or healing?

The spice was overdone. You couldn’t enter a room or a chapter without knowing someone was gonna do something. By halfway I was skipping the spice.

Also the big stalker was solved within the first two chapters and then the other big bad gets solved in the very last chapter. The whole middle is just kind of a mess. There was some fun plot twists but again, I just didn’t like how it played out and just made me feel icky honestly.

It felt like there was a lot of senseless harm/SA/trauma without any recovery and that kind of lost it for me too.

2 ⭐️ feels generous but there we go.

Overall, I really enjoyed this series 🖤 but this last book left me wanting more. Instead of diving deeper into the gothic, culty witchcraft vibes I was yearning for, it leaned too heavily into the smut 🔥.

What I really craved was more lore on the Brethren and the Coven 🕯️🔮. Those pieces of the story had so much potential, and I wish the book leaned more into them rather than rushing through in just a handful of chapters.

The ending did pick up 🤯 and gave me some of what I was hoping for, but it all felt a little too quick. Still, I’m glad I finished the series and enjoyed the ride, but this finale could’ve hit harder if it had slowed down and leaned into the atmosphere and mystery that made the earlier books so addictive. 🖤

3.75⭐️Okay, I need to start by saying I still absolutely loved this series. I’ll always recommend it, and if I were rating it based just on the audiobook narration, it would be a solid five stars. If you’re thinking about diving into this one, I highly recommend going audio. It’s duet narration, full cast, and seriously top-tier.

Now, as for the story itself… I was completely fucking obsessed with Book One. Like, couldn’t stop listening, obsessed. I was so excited to continue the series. And listen Katelyn can do no wrong in my eyes but Books Two and Three just felt like they were missing a little something. Things went in a few directions that kind of lost me, I honestly don’t think the addition of the fifth man was necessary. For me, it threw off the group dynamic a bit. And I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but Asher and Liam? Their connection felt kind of forced. I just wasn’t sold on their chemistry.

That said I loved the secret society and culty vibes. The witchy Salem aesthetic? Obsessed. I only wish we’d leaned harder into that side of the plot. While this is a Why Choose (and you know I love me some smut), it felt like the story had so much potential that got crammed toward the end. Honestly, if this had been a duet instead of a trilogy, I think the pacing would’ve worked way better.

Now don’t get it twisted the spice? 🔥🔥🔥🔥 I was living. But yeah, it did feel a little off-balance at times.

Still, I was hooked. One thing about me is I’m always gonna gobble up a Why Choose, and this was just a really good fucking time. Vincent? My baby. I am in love he kept me fully IN it the entire time. Every time he got a chapter I was a giddy bitch. I just love a man who would burn the world down for her, kill for her without a second thought and is always ready to draw a weapon.

All in all, this is a solid series with a ton of tropes I adore. If you’re in the mood for something fun, REALLY spicy(heavy on the group activities 🙂‍↕️) and low-pressure, definitely give this one a go!

I DNF'ed this book around like 65%. And I'm really surprised I don't see more people talking about why I DNF'ed.

First. Ronan literally admits to SA'ing a MINOR as his initiation. And it's just glossed over like it's nothing. And there is zero trigger warning for mentions of child SA. I'm sorry. This is extremely problematic. I get his is in a cult basically and has to obey or he'll be killed. But WHY was this written into the story. It is not ok for the MMC, the men who are with the FMC to literally have SA'd someone.

Second. Asher's task to then initiate, to unalive another members wife for having miscarriages. And he literally unalives her while she is miscarrying. AND AGAIN NO TRIGGERS FOR MENTIONS OF MISCARRIAGE. Like what in the actual fuck.

Both of these are extremely triggering and sensitive topics. Am I missing something? Like I read the triggers in the beginning and they did not hint to anything like this.

I couldn't after that. I was already on the fence about the series. The plot had gone downhill and turned mostly to smut. The witch plotline became non existent. And Asher cheating in the second book really frustrated me.

omg, umm katelyn.. ma’am? MA’AM?! first off HOW DARE! And you KNOW WHAT MOMENT IM REFERRING TO. i swear my heart stopped. I was shakingggg. I literally text my gc saying “I know Katelyn did not” with a ton of emojis. BUT there were also a lot more wtf moments 🫣 like the craziness and twists just kept cominggggg.. and you know what else kept coming? SKYLA AND HER MEN. Katelyn was not lying when she said this book was the spiciest. It was pure filth!! They all got down and DIRTYYYY with each other 🥵 and i was here for it! I loved seeing all the characters not only form stronger connections with skyla but also with each other! This was a great conclusion to the series! I didn’t arc read the first 2 books but I’m so so glad you allowed me to arc read this one! I know I needed demise asap because of book 2’s cliffhanger! so thank you! 🙂‍↕️ i seriously am going to miss Skyla and her men so freaking much! If a spicy as hell why choose dark romance set in Salem Massachusetts sounds interesting, then do yourself a favor and start this series asap! oh and that extended epilogue was great too! 🥹

ARC Review

Demise: 4 1/2 ⭐️
Gallow’s Hill Trilogy: 5 ⭐️

Demise is the final installment of Katelyn Taylor’s Gallow’s Hill series. It’s a dark, why choose story set in a Salem, Massachusetts university within the world of a secret society that rose to power during the Salem Witch trials.

It picks up at the end of Descent and, while I was taken aback at who the stalker turned out to be, the book continued with even more shocking plot twists, one of which had me so scared for Liam, I had to put the book down - before the scene even started. I searched for a light-hearted story to shore up my emotional strength before picking Demise back up (thank you to Chase Lovett Wants Me!) because my mind was conjuring up scenario after scenario that would break Liam. It was an emotional and haunting scene that carved my love for Liam into a tiny place in my heart.

There were so many impassioned moments and story lines - both harrowing and heart-warming. The deep development of Asher and Liam’s relationship both with themselves and with Skyla, as well as the repercussions of Griggs’ job within the Brethren and his importance to the group as a whole (“Vinny!”) were only two examples of the shift from five individual worlds circling their center to the six of them becoming one universe, one unit that couldn’t exist without the love of every heart and mind.

But it was the revelation of what a witch truly is in 2025 versus the women and men of the 17th century that led to the apex of the story. And while these discoveries took place throughout the trilogy, the actions meant to wrap up all three books didn’t start until 91% and I simply wanted more. I wanted a more immersive evolution of the relationships that incited the ending of the story. I wanted more of their passionate group discussion and thought processes that instigated the finality of the trilogy. And, call me a blood thirsty bitch, but I wanted even more revenge.

With all that being said, when you start reading Demise, you’ll be completely captivated from start to finish, each chapter, each page demanding you to keep reading. The Gallow’s Hill trilogy is the embodiment of “just one more chapter” at 2 am. I feel truly lucky that, not only was I a mindful participant of Katelyn Taylor’s Gallow’s Hill narrative, but also a fortuitous ARC reader of the final installment. Thank you for bringing life to Skyla and her men and the troubled and obstructed road they had to clear to get to their HEA.

PS. If Deceit had a 2-3 🌶️ level (remember - she had to remain a virgin!), Demise’s level is 5 🌶️ (a rare 🌶️ level I give). Soooo spicy. SPICE.

DAMN! What a freaking ride! This book delivered on EVERY freaking level and made the whole trilogy worth it. Was it perfect?? No. Was it amazing? YES! Everything…. And I can’t stress this enough….. EVERYTHING happens in this book. One second I would think ok we’re at the top of shocking moments, and then BAM! My jaw would drop again! One bombshell after another!!! Obviously, I can’t really say jack shit about this because it would ruin the entire book for you. I’ll have to give you some snippets and seriously – if I say it’s a SPOILER – don’t read it!!!

Fucking hell, Skyla is some miracle worker. She brings out the absolute best in the most lost of causes. It’s a phenomenon that deserves to be studied and explored.

At the end of the last book, Skyla’s stalker made their presence known. Thankfully, our boys Vincent and Wesley know what to do and they lead the rescue mission with Asher, Liam, and Ronan. Then the fun really begins.

I’ve never felt more complete. All of us being connected in some way makes everything just feel right.

Stalkers, apple cider, arranged marriages, lots of lube, sharing IS caring, group activities, murders, tattoos, initiations, origin stories, photos, cleansing, no…. seriously….who’s your daddy?!, daggers, graves, peg board, magic, backdoors, eat your heart out, kid, soooo much love, witchy woman, and a HEA….. for almost everyone.

JFC I’m hungover from this. Best things first…..

I feel thankful, grateful even. It’s one thing to have a man who will protect you. It’s another who will so easily kill for you. Not for your protection, but for your peace, for your heart.

SEX: dayummmmmm. The sex is SELLING. I’m pretty sure the first 40% of this book is all smut. Group activities are definitely expanded on and OMG it was some of the best smut I’ve read. That said – I felt like it was more smut than love making. The only real love connection I feel is between two of the guys and then Vincent & Skyla. Honestly? I felt like the love stories were all the guys and Skyla was just a side participant. This is based on how my heart felt. You might feel something different.

BOMBSHELLS: OMG. That last half of the book, I probably had 15 strokes. There were a few shockers that I didn’t even see coming, and I usually predict things way in advance. The shocking revelations are what got this 5 stars, despite there being some issues.

AUDIO: Even though I wasn’t sold on the narration at the beginning, I think it’s perfectly fine now. Narrators reminder: Amy Hall (Skyla and all other females), Sebastian York (Ronan + other male side characters), Sean Masters (Asher), Devon Ryder (Liam, and the best narration of the bunch), Edward Black (Vincent), and Liam Dicosimo (Wesley).

TRIGGERS: Please reference my review of Book 1 for the trigger listing because they all happen in this book.

EPILOGUE: The epilogue itself wasn’t that great. Just a quick wrap-up of everything. Nothing set in the future with their HEAs. No great proclamations of love. There is an extended epilogue on the audio, and although it’s not included on the KU book, there is an option to request it. I’ll save you some time,

ISSUES: There are a few things I’d have changed or expanded on. You might notice my ratings: B1=3 stars, B2=4 stars, B3=5 stars. If the author had cut this down to 2 books, taken out a few of the extra smut scenes, and spread the bombshells throughout instead of stuffing them all in the 3rd book, it would easily be a 5-star duology. The final BIG scene, I would have changed it. I’m putting this in spoilers in case anyone wants to tell me how right I am. . There were also a few things that I thought either went unanswered or didn’t give me clear closure. If you read the trilogy, let me know what you think. The answers may be in the books and I just missed them? DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK.

FAMILY TREE and SIDE PIECES: If I put it as a spoiler, don’t look at it until you’ve read. It gives away the details of who people are. I’M SERIOUS!!! It’ll ruin things for you. I like having it in case there’s a spinoff or something. It’s possible I have a few of these wrong since there are so many damn people. If you catch an error, let me know.

Okay so after my last review.... I really was wrong about the stalker haha.

This story is 85% Smut and 15% Plot. The plot was enough to keep me involved though.

Also that ending ? I loved it. It was a satisfying end to the Gallows Hill Trilogy.

When Katelyn said this book was spicy, she wasn't lying! 🥵🔥 So many MMF and MM scenes; I was over here grinning like an idiot. There are so many easter eggs hidden throughout this last book!! If you're a fan of Katelyn's other series or Sinners and Stardust, keep your 👀 peeled. As always, Liam is my boo, I will compare every other golden retriever MMC to this man.

Read this series if you like....

I was lucky enough to receive a beta copy of this book and it blew every expectation I had out of the fucking water. It was so fucking hot. The smut was doing its job. The plot was also doing its job. The twistS…

Once again, Katelyn , you have written a complete banger of a book and I am so utterly proud of you.

Okay I want to first off say I’m not really into RH but I LOVED every single minute of it 😭😭 this was such a great way to end the trilogy and I’m so sad it’s over 😭

“Eyes on me, baby. Do you understand me? You’re fucking mine. I fucking love you. Do you get that?”

This was also definitely one if not the hottest book I have read in a while !! The spice was top fucking notch and it didn’t steer away from the plot which I really appreciated !!! I think I get a little intimidated by RH and how many people I need to keep up with (this case being 6) but honestly I really loved the authors writing style and it didn’t feel confusing at all ! I don’t blame Skyla for wanting all 5 of them 🙂‍↔️🙂‍↔️

“Open up, baby.”

I LOOOVED how much Asher and Liam’s situation developed !! They were so fucking cute 😭😭 ! I don’t read a lot of MM but man did was I enjoying all of it 🙂‍↕️ ! They were definitely my favorite pair !! But just loved how much Asher’s character development throughout the whole series.

“I love you so much, baby. I’ll never let you go.”

THE GROUP ACTIVITIES 😩😩😩 !!! ALSOOO CHAPTER 21 AND THE EXTENDED EPILOGUE WILL LIVE RENT FREE IN MY HEAD 😩😩

This was my least fav book of the series, which i hate to say. I absolutely love all of her other books, especially in the series, but this one fell so short for me. This book didn’t give me any of the plot i wanted or what was in book one and two. I don’t normally harp on a book that is primarily smut, but when book one and two were more plot driven, then given this, i’m just very confused and disappointed.

First off this book had the most plot out of the three and I devoured it. I love the nod to other books and I absolutely fell in love with the characters. Vincent will forever have my heart. That one part toward the end gutted me initially!!

I will say the plot did have some holes and it lost me a little with the witchy stuff. Only because it wasn’t really heavily mentioned in the other books besides a few nods here and there. But I still devoured it and enjoyed the twists and turns.

I love the entire Gallows Hill trilogy but Demise was definitely my favorite! The spice was top tier, the story was so intriguing, and the ending was perfection 👌

Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Quantity of spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Quality of spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
*There are 19 spicy scenes in Demise. I’ve included the pages/chapters at the bottom of this review.*

Descent extended on a crazy cliffhanger and Demise picks up right where it left off, so the beginning is ROUGH! I was cringing through everything Skyla was going through 😬

Once that awfulness is resolved, we get into the Brethren vs Witches story that’s been talked about throughout the books, but hadn’t had a ton of detail until Demise. That story was so interesting, I was eating up every little tidbit!

The guys 💕 ugh I love them but Liam and Asher were my FAVORITES! I think it’s because I loved the two of them together so much. Asher so quickly went from “I’m not gay” to being completely in love with Liam, I just couldn’t get enough of them!!

There was a whole lot of 🩸play with Vincent in this book, so you definitely get to see his unhinged side and how Skyla really enjoys giving him what he needs. On the topic of Vincent.. WHY KATELYN, WHY!! You know what I mean! You had me going there for a minute! 😩

Wesley and Ronan still have some stuff to work out together because I think they have the potential to be on Asher and Liam’s level, but they have their whole lives together (with Skyla) to get there! I LOVED Wesley’s constant goading of Asher to make both Ronan and Liam jealous 🤣 it worked every damn time.

Skyla’s dick management with all her men was the best I’ve ever seen in a why choose 😉🍆

I am so sad to be done with this trilogy but also can’t wait for Deliverance!! Maggie has been teasing us for 3 books now and I just KNOW her story with Bridgette is going to be 🔥🔥

I LOVED this trilogy. Katelyn knows how to write smut where it adds to the plot but isn't the plot. The way I laughed and then cried. This is one the best reverse harem book I have ever read. Vincent will always be my favorite but you can't have one without them all 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

I ate this trilogy up in less than a week and I wouldn't really call it great literature but it was so damn addicting and entertaining.

I felt like it ended a bit too quickly considering the big show down happened literally in last chapter. It should have happened sooner and left the characters with some time to breathe and settle into everything before the end.
Also the plot got a little derailed (maybe it just me) but it went into the way I didn't except it to considering the last 2 books and yet also the most expected way ever.

Skyla was kinda stupid at some moments but it's okay. Some characters were a bit annoying (looking at you Ronan, Wesley and Vincent).
And at the end Wesley still didn't feel important for the dynamic other than to entertain Ronan.

I also didn't like how forced it felt to make a fantasy out of Skyla and Maggie, but I'm glad it just stayed a fantasy and didn't happen because I liked their friendship and sometimes it's okay for a friendship to stay just that. Also not every person who likes vagina needed to be into Skyla.

I really liked the books overall, it was a fun time for sure even if I did want to punch the characters straight into their face at certain times.

Arc review for Demise by Katelyn Taylor

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️♾️
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

How has it been 10 days since I finished Demise and I still haven’t been able to find the words for my review?! I know how because Katelyn absolutely rocked my world with this one holy shit what a conclusion to the absolute masterpiece that this series has been! I’m so sad it’s over but that just means I can start all over and read them again and again haha

Demise is book 3 in the Gallow Hills series and needs to be read in the correct order as the first two books end on cliffhangers but I promise you it’s all worth it! I can’t say too much without the fear of spoiling even the smallest thing but what I will say is Katelyn is our Queen and you need to read everything she has written!

If you love spice that will leave you sweating and in need of a cold shower, insane twists and turns that will make you feel like you’re right there along with Skyla and her guys. I swear at certain points I almost threw my kindle at the wall and yes I also cried like my world was ending 😂 the suspense in this my god it had me on the edge of my seat right from the start! The relationships between all the characters had me feeling so many things all at once. They were all so special in their own ways.

I have loved everything I’ve read of Katelyn’s but I can easily say this series has made the top spot for me. Katelyn knows what her readers need/want and delivers every single time!! I highly recommend this series especially if you love the following.

💀 Dark Academia
🖤 Why Choose
💀 Secret Society
🖤 The Filthiest Smut
💀 Bi-awakening
🖤 Touch her & die

Thankyou so much to Katelyn for the opportunity to receive arcs for both Deceit and Demise I will forever be grateful for being able to tag along on this crazy and exciting ride!! 💋🖤

well I loved this trilogy, the twists and turns and the emotional rollercoaster I went on in this book 😭😭 I loved that Zayden iykyk made an appearance too! I listened to the audiobooks and spent several days just flying through these because they were so good. I loved all the main characters and seeing how they developed, but I have a sweet spot for Vincent 😍 he just had me from book one.

This might be my favorite of the three! 🥰 So, so good!

The tension, the twists, the chemistry—everything was on point! 🔥 The stakes felt higher, the emotions deeper, and I was completely hooked from start to finish.

Dark, steamy, and full of drama… I couldn’t put it down! 👀🔥🖤

You guys… holy shit. You want filthy? Let’s dive in.

>>> Swipe for some edits I’m very proud of 🥹

Firstly, I was NOT expecting that person to be her stalker… but what a twist!

This was ABSOLUTELY incredible. From start to finish I was absolutely hooked! I devoured this read in under 2 days.

I love Skyla and all of her men. I really loved that we saw a development in both Liam and Asher’s relationship as well as Ronan and Wesley.

“𝙁***. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙨𝙤 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙚. 𝙎𝙤 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙙𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙮. 𝙊𝙥𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙨, 𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙪𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙩.”

@katelyntaylorauthor really said… you want spice? I’ll give you spice… there was SO many limbs, so many positions, so much s*x I was in HEAVEN. I love a smutty read and this just rocked my absolute world.

There were definitely a few heartbreaking moments, my heart absolutely broke for Liam but we know through some time and healing he will be okay. He has Skyla and Asher, that’s all he needs.

Also, Vincent 😭😭😭 I actually love him BIBLICALLY!

“𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙄 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚, 𝙨𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙣.”

Also the found family?! HELLO?! Incredible! My jaw was on the floooooooooor!

Another BANGER of a read from Katelyn Taylor, and safe to say she has made me a fan of not only her writing but her as a person, what a beautiful human!

I hate to say it, but I became more and more dissatisfied with this series as it went on. It just felt like it started out as one thing and turned into another.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Demise!

“Skyla Parris is my god damn religion. From now until the end of my days, I’ll happily kneel at her altar, worship her feet and taste her blood.”

HOLY SMOKEBALLS 🥵
For my smut loving girlies, gather round, this ones for you!

I’m going to start by saying, before you read this book, your AC better be working, the shower better be set on cold and have a big glass of cold water by your side because this was HOT 🔥

Demise is the last book in the Gallow Hills trilogy and continues off the cliffhanger we were *painfully* subjected to in Descent. I devoured this book in under 24 hours, I could not put it down.

I was eagerly awaiting this release, and wondering what ending Katelyn was going to give us for Skyla and her men, and it did not disappoint. I absolutely do not want to spoil anything about this book, because the rollercoaster of emotions I experienced was a ride I did not want to get off and best read spoiler free!

This book was downright FILTHY (please refer to above requirements, you’ll need them). The cabin scene?!?
Yeah, I sat in front of air con like a sacrificial lamb after that one 🫣

If you’ve been anticipating this release, you will not be left disappointed. It took me a day to recover, not to mention Miss Katelyn did NOT help by sharing a NSFW artwork that had me SWEATING.

Katelyn you have outdone yourself. This has joined my collection of favourite why-choose romances, I have so much love for you and this trilogy, and cannot wait for Maggie's story 🫶🏼

Note: Deceit and Descent must be read before reading Demise.
