Okay I hate that it took me this long to get through this book-- it was really good I just was in a hardcore reading slump.

Solid ending to this series, I really enjoyed all of the characters. There was also a decent amount dedicated to "after" and wrapping up the whole story and that was great. I hate when authors rush through the endings and then leave me with "wait but what about this and this?" This book wrapped up very well.

Also-- to the author, how dare you. I was reading a chapter and said man, I love this character I sure hope they don't die. And then, the next page guess what happened. My heart was violently ripped out and cut to pieces. Ugh. How rude.

Also- Deckard is the new standard for a man. Because, he is just the best. We love him.

As the final book in the series I think it did a really good job tying up the loose ends while still giving us an epic finale.

A lot happens in this book, and I really liked that even more points of view were added to the story. We get chapters from Evylin, Thom, Ethan, Deckard, and Ilain. Getting Ethan’s perspective in particular was nice! I’ve liked him throughout the whole series, and seeing things from his side helped me understand his reasons and personality a lot better. The same goes for Ilain. And it was really satisfying continuing to watch Thom’s character growth through everything.

There are definitely some heartbreaking moments in this book! 🥲 But it also felt really satisfying to see the characters grow through their journey and reach the end of it all. The author included a section showing where the characters ended up in the years after everything happened. I loved having that closure with people I’d spent so much time with throughout the series.

This is a long book, and with how much worldbuilding, magic system building, and character development there is, it’s definitely the kind of story where you want to take your time with it and really settle into the journey.

I also thought the author did a really nice job writing the romance in a way that still felt mature and meaningful without relying on explicit scenes. The emotional connection and the yearning between the characters carried the relationship in a natural way. It was especially nice seeing Deckard and Evylin lean fully into their relationship and truly love each other in all aspects of it.

Overall I really enjoyed this series and I’m glad I read it.

✨ARC Review✨

This series is so heartwarming and so incredibly sweet. I love that Deckard has for Evylin just makes you wanna cry with how sweet it is. The way he yearns for her and loves her... UGH.

The growth that Evylin had made me so incredibly happy. Her coming to terms with wanting to be a better wife for him and giving him the love he deserves as well. Beautiful.

ETHENN is HOT... that is all. He STOLE the show for me this book. He is hot... his presence... UGH... I couldn't get enough.

Thom's growth was so heartwarming. He is a cutie pie and deserves nothing but the best.

Rafferty... was done dirty and that is all imma say on THAT!

I thought this was a good final wrap up for the book series. I thought the pacing needed some work, I felt we had the same conversations with the couples with no movement. It took the couples a long time to decide something or come to a decision so it became a little tedious at times. But overall I loved that the big battle happened, then we had time to sit with characters in the aftermath and set them up to send them on their way to their happily ever afters.

I think this was a great series. Incredibly sweet and heartwarming and so full of love and devotion. Every single love story was treated with such care and it was beautiful. I loved the snarky/flirty banter, the found family is to die for, I want them all to be real and in my life, and it was a great family and story.

Thank you so much for the ARC, I will treasure these characters for years to come and I hope one day I will be able to have physical trophey's to display on my bookselves for the rest of my life!

Oh man, what a ride. Fantastic. This was such a great ending to the trilogy, with action, romance, humour, tension, and character growth.

Victory was hard won. My heart was pounding as I read the scene in the throne room! So much happened in this book, and yet there was a real focus on characters and conversations. I loved how much we learnt about them and how skillfully Dixon brought each character to life.

We got more romances in this book, including another marriage of convenience where he falls first (thanks Victoria!). There was a lot of growth in Evylin and Deckard's relationship as well. Their love for each other was so sweet to read.

Thom got his happy ending, hooray! This character really grew on me throughout the trilogy. He was very dislikable in the first book! In the second book, he began changing, realising the error of his ways. In this book, we see so much growth from hi,m and I was so happy with how things ended up for him.

What you'll find in this book:
*epic fantasy
*Jane Austen meets Skyrim
*sword and sorcery
*marriage of convenience
*found family
*warring countries
*relic quest
*multi 3rd person POV

Content warning: death, fantasy violence, terror, mild coarse language (e.g.: 11 x sh**, 15 x hell)
Romance level: 5.5 (closed door, a few fade-to-black scenes with a married couple, some innuendo, passionate kisses)

I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’ve come to expect strong, immersive world-building from V.K. Dixon, and Relics & Thrones absolutely delivers on that front. The political tension, magical systems, and atmospheric detail remain as vivid and carefully constructed as ever. If anything, the setting continues to be the strongest character in the series.

Unfortunately, for me, that’s where the strength ends.

One of the most common praises of this series has been its layered emotional arcs and slow-burn relationships—but here, those elements felt strangely hollow. We’re introduced to two additional couples, and the narrative spends pages circling their miscommunication, longing, and internal conflict. The angst is there. The tension is there. The denial is certainly there. Yet when it comes time for emotional payoff, it’s brushed aside in a sentence or two.

After months of resistance and tortured inner monologue, we get a sudden “okay, let’s do this,” with barely any exploration of what that shift actually feels like. I wasn’t looking for graphic detail—but I was looking for emotional depth. Vulnerability. Conversation. Growth. Instead, it felt as though the author built elaborate emotional scaffolding only to skip the moment that mattered most.

A recurring theme in reader discussions is the frustration with communication breakdowns being prolonged for drama, and I felt that keenly here. The choices and lack of dialogue are agonised over for chapters, yet resolution comes abruptly and without weight. It made the ending feel rushed and, ultimately, weak.

I finished it because I needed to know how everything concluded—but emotionally, it didn’t land. The world remains compelling, but the heart of the story felt glossed over when it should have been centre stage.

For me, this was a disappointing conclusion. Beautiful setting. Thin emotional payoff.

I really loved the book. I thought the slow burn and the world-building were just amazing. I felt like I knew the characters, and everything they did made sense. The descriptions of places, clothes and characters really helped build the picture. Most of the things that were set up got solved at the end, and the ending was so beautiful and heartwarming. I really liked that the villains were smart and cunning, not just waiting for the main characters' actions but driving the plot forward as well.

I was surprised at the absence of any characters who were in love with or considering a partner of the same gender. I felt like there were so many opportunities to question the one man plus one woman formula. I really thought there would be a same-sex partnership to challenge it, and to maybe discover a new type of connection between warrior and mage. With the vast world and huge number of characters, I thought it would be very likely and would make the plot more interesting by challenging the divine laws.

At some point, the talk of marriage seemed like a bit of Christian propaganda — though honestly the best “save yourself for marriage” propaganda I’ve ever read.

Usually when I get to the end of a series that I love as much as this one, I don't know how to feel, and I get into a reading slump. After finishing the Warriors and Mages trilogy, I feel really happy and satisfied. Faithful to V.K. Dixon writing (or should I say Rafferty antics), I laughed out loud at many parts, and felt like crying in others. This book was lengthy yet perfectly paced, and ultimately everything I hoped would happen with the characters did. Victoria, you write a beautiful love story! I loved what happened with the magic, the relationships, and the kingdom (the title was especially fitting), and I was pleasantly surprised with some of the character arcs. Terraeus is a beautiful world that I look forward to getting lost in again soon via the short story collection Pirate Duology (literally I think about it all the time) and whatever other ideas Victoria comes up with in the future!

Thank you SO MUCH for letting me be an ARC reader! I have enjoyed this series thoroughly, and they have set a new standard for me!

I have no words. This is the perfect ending to the perfect story. I cannot express enough how much I love VK Dixon’s writing. From the masterful character development, to the delectable banter, and the beautifully painted scenes of Allund. The magic system is so unique and unlike anything I have ever read. There is not a single thing about this book or the whole series I did not enjoy. If you’re not kicking your feet at the banter, you’ll be on the edge of your seat waiting for the next turn of events, or completely enraptured in the beauty of Allund’s country side. This last book had me laughing and crying and laughing and crying and laughing and crying some more. I am sad that it has come to end, but I am satisfied with the ending received. My new favorite series. I just want to pick it up and read it over and over again.

Thank you Victoria for the opportunity to read this series early as part of your ARC team. This is my full and honest review of Relics and Thrones, the final book in the Warriors and Mages trilogy.

The best way I can describe my feelings on this book is that I didn't want it to end. I want to live in this world with these characters forever! I want then to be real so that I can spend time with them every day and see the rest of their lives play out.

Normally I see twists coming, but this final book surprised me on a couple of occasions! I was moved to tears, I laughed along with the quips and inside jokes of the characters, and I overall felt like it was there with them for everything.

If you enjoy high stakes fantasy with a rich world and a beautiful cast of characters, each with flaws and strengths and amazing stories, then you will love this book!!

This book, was the perfect ending to the trilogy. It tore my heart to shreds, then put it back together again, over and over and over again. Would I LOVE more? ABSOLUTELY! But despite some of the things that happened I think that this installment was perfect.

There are crazy twists and turns throughout, you think it's going one way, when suddenly a completely unknown third option pops out of nowhere. The characters remain as deep and complex as we've come to expect, and we get to know the others more, as the characters with POVs expand. There's hope and despair, and all the emotions in between. And the problem with loving it so much, is I want to race about all the best parts, but I can't because spoilers! You'll just have to read it for yourself, I guess!

Nothing will top how I felt about the first book of the series which is unfortunate. I felt like a lot of the conversations in this book were just going round in circles over and over again. And the redundancy made me slug through. It on for far too long. Especially with the FMC and the MMC being indecisive about what they want for their future. Felt like my husband trying to pick where to eat for lunch “you choose” “no you choose” “where do you wanna go” “I don’t care wherever you wanna go”

Was the book still good overall? Yeah I suppose. I can’t lower my rating because the writing and wit is great. And the world building is intricate. But it was just too long.

Whew! This final installment was over 1000 pages. I had to pace myself. There was no way I could keep up the pace of book 1 and 2. But thankfully the stress level evened out as well. I could enjoy it like I would great episodes of a favorite tv show. The magic was super fun. Relationships and new characters continued to unfold enjoyably. Old friends grew and developed - I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s got some heartbreak as well. As does an epic adventure like this would. Well done Ms Dixon. You got me to read 2600 pages in less than a week’s time. I’d say it definitely had me hooked!

The absolute perfect conclusion to this series. I am so so sad it is over. But also content and satisfied with how it all came together in the end.

As I read, I frequently stopped to appreciate the character and relationship developments throughout the trilogy. It has been so wonderful to see the growth and redemption - and despite every character having very human flaws, the ways they are valued and cherished for who they are.

I can confidently say that Warriors & Mages is my favorite series - fantasy and otherwise - of all time.

This whole series was so fun. I enjoyed Victoria's character driven writing. I believe these books are NA or Adult audience intended. With that, I'd personally feel more comfortable recommending this series to people 18+ as it has some language, innuendos and fade to black/closed door scenes but I'd say for the most part, Victoria's writing is cleaner than most of what's on the market. If you want Jane Austen meets Skyrim, Warrior’s & Mages is the perfect book for you!

I listened to this on audio. After reading first two myself I had a very hard time with the voices not quite matching what I imagined in my head.🤣 Eventually, I grew used to it and did love the way the story was finished. I loved the healing that came. Wanting to leave this with no spoilers so I will simply say this. did have some sad moments a few hold my my breath moments and some celebrations as well. Love when a story hits a range of emotions!

Ohhh, I loved it 🥹
If you enjoy Adventure Fantasy reads with yearning, found family and heart warming feels, give this story a read.
It has depth in its world building, magic systems, politics and the relationships between main characters and side characters. What's more, the characters are flawed yet in a way where it completely makes sense as much as it frustrates you, and the interactions between characters is top tier banter!
I cannot wait to read this again one day ❤️

So sad for this series to come to a close for now. But I am so incredibly happy with the story, the character arcs, and all the banter the other two books held.

This is honestly my favorite series ever and I cannot wait for publication so I can read physical copies! 💛✨

This was such a good series! Beautifully written, enchanting, and moving. The magic system was fresh and interesting. The characters were lovable and the losses hurt, but didn't feel forced. If you're looking for your next fantasy adventure with a romance to make your heart sing, look no further!

One day I’ll come up with a more eloquent review, but I loved this book and I loved this series. When I saw the author pitch this as a “Skyrim meets Jane Austen epic fantasy”, I was so excited. It lived up to my hopes for a book series marketed as such.

The characters were memorable and relatable, the romance was honest, the banter made me laugh, and I really liked the ending (which I can be picky about). I teared up at the end because I realized the series was over, and I had to say goodbye to these characters. But the message of this story will stay with me: adventure is worthwhile but, in the end, who you spend that adventure with, who you love and being loved, matter *more*.

Relics and Thrones is a great ending to the series! I loved the different POVs, the action scenes are clear and concise and the romance is perfect without being over the top! I love the mix of Skyrim meets Jane Austen vibes and how the characters have evolved so much since book one.

Wishing this series wasn’t coming to an end, but I am so excited to see what Victoria comes out with next, especially/hopefully within the Terraeus universe! I’ve said this before, but the Fire and Night series is really what got me into romance novels. I am not a fan of spicy books nor do I love the really soppy (imo) kind of books. Warriors and Mages is neither of these, so if you’ve been hesitant because it is a Romantasy book for these reasons, I couldn’t recommend it enough!
