Barrett Grant is wild AF with hips he knows how to use, and he’s also eleven years younger than me…
Gabby
Get Baked is the culmination of every dream I had as a twenty-something. A dream my ex-husband stomped like a bug beneath the tip of his expensive Italian leather shoe. When I left with nothing more than my dignity and a vintage stand mixer I found at a thrift store, all I wanted was to be happy. Promised myself I wouldn’t settle until that happened.
Years later, it’s finally happening in the small town of Broken Falls, WV. My dreams are coming true, my happiness is so close I can reach out and touch it.
But my secrets? They won’t stay buried forever. Especially where Barrett Grant is concerned.
Barrett
I messed up big time with Gabby, the hot, older, owner of Get Baked. I had no business swiping right if I wasn’t going to take our relationship and her feelings seriously. When I reacted badly to a waitress who questioned if she was my mother, I should’ve let it go.
But I didn’t, and now I can’t. Not when I miss the f*ck out of her, and lost a year off my life the night Get Baked was broken into. This time, I promise myself, I’ll give us the shot we should’ve gotten the first time.
If only she gives me a second chance.

I really enjoy books told from more than one POV, and first person is my absolute favorite. A new to me author, Laramie drew me in from the first page. Telling the story of several people that I quickly got attached too, well most of the anyway.
Gabby has been dreaming of having a bakery business and her husband, Jeff does not approve. She realizes this one more thing in a large list of things about him that she cannot continue to accept in her life.
We meet Barrett and discover that they dated in the recent past, they both have not moved on because they are holding torches for each other.
Val, or Valentina joins the characters and I love how Gabby takes her under her wing, so to speak and helps her shine again.
I liked how Gabby and Barrett help as well as receive help from their friends, because that's how close they all are. It's a small group, but very tight. I also like how Gabby and Barrett are open and honest about their thoughts and feelings for each other. They have some hurdles to jump but together they just might be able to make it work this time.
A great second chance, small town, reverse age gap romance story. I'm looking forward to the next book, Vaughn, and I want to read the first three in the series as well.
This was so much better than I thought it was going to be. Fun and sexy. I can't wait for the next book. I love how Barrett kicked ass without really kicking it.
Barrett is Book 4 of Broken Falls. It's a steamy, instalove, reverse age-gap, small-town, second-chance romance. Barrett is a hunky, blue-collar guy. Gabby is a sweet and sassy bakery owner 11 years older than him. She is divorced from Jeff, her emotionally abusive ex. She and Barrett had a romantic relationship a while ago but broke up largely over their age difference, both due to some insecurities and meddling of Barrett's controlling mother. Now, when Gabby's bakery is broken into, Barrett responds, and the two have to face their still very present feelings. They had communication issues the first time around, and when they decide to try again, their commitment to clear and open communication is a high priority this time. I really, really loved this couple. Their chemistry was hot enough to burn down Broken Falls. There is some ex drama, but we do get a happy ending for our couple. I just love this whole group of people and can't wait for Vaughn's story.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Who are Gabby and Jeff? How do they know one another? What are their wants/desires? What does Gabby purchase with the last of her money? Why? Who is Valentina? Watching Barrett and Gabby get a second chance at love, with everyone else being d***ed, was so much fun! What happens when Jeff rears his head later in the book? Who is Marie? What do we learn about her and from her? I came to 'hate' Jeff in this story. I disliked him initially, but he got my dander up when he pulled shenanigans. I liked Hank! I love how Boone and Barrett went to Hank to ask for help. You need to read and see what happens with this story! Oh boy....
I admired them for giving their relationship another chance. They improved at communicating their desires and needs. The barrier that was central to their breakup was addressed with a gentle yet decisive approach.
I adored the new girl and am eager to see if she possesses the ability to change the group's bad boy.
Something was lacking, and I'm not certain what it was, but I wasn't thoroughly impressed. However, it was still a compelling story filled with trust, family and love.
This is book four in The Broken Falls Series and it Barrett and Gabby’s story and omg it is definitely a must read. Garrett and Barrett have history together that ended so badly that it had now put a gap and strain between them and also left them both upset and heartbroken. Gabby is a divorced woman after having a very turbulent and mentally abusive marriage and now she lives in Broken Falls where she is eventually making her dreams come true after opening Get Baked but unfortunately Gabby has secrets that she definitely didn’t want revealed because it could cause her to lose everything that she had already built. Barrett works hard with the men that have been part of his life and like brothers to him but from the first time that he saw Gabby he wanted to get to know her but unfortunately Gabby put up wallls because of what she had been through and also there age differences that seemed to bother her even though it doesn’t matter to Barrett and when she eventually gave in and things were going well something happened that tore them apart but there love for each other never went away. When Gabby’s bakery is broken into Barrett starts to panic and is determined to anything and everything to help protect, keep her safe while finding the person relationship regardless of what he has to do or the consequences involved and then maybe he can convince Gabby to give him a second chance which will hopefully give them the happiness and future that they both want and deserve especially as they are so in love with each other so now communication is going to be the most important thing between them if they are going to make it work between them. Wow I absolutely loved Barrett and Gabby so much and the love and connection between them was so strong and it just goes to show that age means nothing if the love is strong enough and you work together making anything is possible. I couldn’t put this book down as it was so addictive and the story pulled you in and kept your attention throughout and I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing series.
I absolutely adored this book. It is a reverse age gap, second chance at love romance that touched my heart, made me smile and gave me the happily ever after I couldn’t help wanting for Barrett and Gabby. After dating for a few months, Barrett and Gabby let the opinions and gossip of others, as well as their own fears derail their relationship. Both have regrets and miss their fierce chemistry and intense connection, but do nothing about reconnecting until an act of vandalism brings Barrett to her door, ready and willing to assist her. They both take the chance to tell the other that they want to try again, that they have more than just friendship in mind for their relationship. This time they will stand beside each other, shutting out the gossip and the disapproval of others, including his own mother.
Gabby is a woman who had to fight for her independence and dreams. For too long she let her ex control, demean and belittle her. Her divorce has made her more determined, stronger and more resilient than ever before. The success of her shop has given her confidence and time apart from Barrett has shown her where her heart lies. This time, she refuses to let others dictate their relationship or keep them from building a future together. Barrett’s regrets and his love for Gabby have given him the strength and courage to stand up to his mother, to not let her dictate whom he should love. Their friends and colleagues provide lots of support and advice as well as make this book even more enjoyable.
I will happily recommend this book and the previous books in this series.
*I received this book free from Buoni Amici Press.
Barrett is the fourth book in the small-town romance series, Broken Falls, and I've enjoyed them all so far. It is a quick read, with a little drama and a lot of passion.
Barrett is young, loves to dance, and knows what he wants. He may have messed things up in the past, but now he is laser focused on his goals. And her name is Gabby.
Gabby is divorced from a man who emotionally abused her until she could take no more. She put in long hours, scrimped and saved, and made Get Baked what it is today. The successful bakery is making her dreams come true and letting her discover her true self, the one she had lost during her marriage.
She tried dating Barrett for a little bit, but with her being so much older and his mother making her opinions on the fact well known she decided it wasn't good for her and they broke up. Their initial relationship is not in this book, it is only referenced.
Neither of them could rid themselves of feelings for the other so when Gabby's bakery is vandalized, and Barrett comes in to help, the sparks fly all over again. This time though, all cards are on the table. Open communication all the way, and that includes with his disapproving mother.
Gabby will learn to trust again, and Barrett will learn truths about his parents he never truly knew that will help him understand both Gabby and his mother. For these two, it's all about the communication to make things work.
This is the 4th book in the Broken Falls series featuring the beautifully written wonderful blue collar, reverse age-gap, second chance, small-town romance between Barrett and Gabby. Gabby is finally living her dream after leaving her abusive marriage behind she ends up in Broken Falls a small-town in WV where she opens Get Baked. Barrett knows that he messed up with Gabby when he let other people's issues with their age-gap become an issue for him big mistake. Now a break-in at Gabby's business gives both of them the second chance that they wanted after having such a great connection instantly. Barrett asks Gabby to give him a second chance which is really hard for her to do after the damage her ex-husband did to her being emotionally abusive. Barrett though really wants things to work between them so he really listens to what Gabby tells him she needs. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this beautifully written wonderful blue collar, reverse age-gap, second chance,small-town romance to see what happens. I would definitely recommend reading this book and I'm looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series! I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Barrett Grant and Gabriela lost their first chance at love mostly due to her concern that she was too old for him. Married and now divorced, she has returned to Broken Falls and has her dream job as the owner and baker at Get Baked. When Barrett assists her after the front window of the bakery is broken, seeing him brings thoughts of what could have been, but it’s too late for them, right? Barrett hasn’t forgotten how right she felt for him, the things he left unsaid, it’s not too late, is it? When a young woman, Valentina, stops by the bakery looking for a job, Gabby hopes this will work out as she really needs the help, especially after Get Baked is recognized on YouTube. As she and Barrett try to take things slow, communication from her ex-husband has her worried. Why after all this time would he threaten her? When Barrett learns of the threats, he will use his home town resources to put a stop to her ex-husband’s plans. A somewhat shorter story, but it has everything that you want including hot romance, the unique Broken Falls family and a second chance at love. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Gabby had a dream of opening her own bakery but her husband crushed those dreams and made Gabby feel worthless. Gabby finally divorces the loser and opens Get Baked (cute name). Years have pasted and Gabby has a very successful bakery and she gets to hotties when they come into her shop, one in particular, Barrett. Gabby goes on a dating app and ends up connecting with a mystery man, they hit it off and agree to meet...surprise it is Barrett. Barrett is 11 years younger but they decided to give it ago when outside forces and insecurity because of the age cause them to walk away. A year passes and Barrett wants Gabby back. Will Gabby give Barrett another chance or will she let others and the age difference stop their second chance?
I really liked how Barrett stood up to those who opposed him and Gabby as a couple including the reappearing ex. I disliked Jeff, he wanted a piece of Gabby success and would stop to get it. Will Jeff take Gabby's dream?
I cannot wait for Vaughn's book.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Barrett, Broken Falls book 4, is the second chance romance story of Barrett and Gabby. They dated prior to this book, having broken up due to her being 11 years older than him and it becoming an issue that they couldn’t overcome at that time.
The book starts when Gabby’s bakery has the window broken out and Barrett is nearby and helps her get it fixed. Barrett asks Gabby for a second chance. It’s hard for Gabby has her ex husband was emotionally abusive and she doesn’t know if she can handle the problems that tore them apart again.
I liked that Barrett was mature enough to listen to her needs and follow through with making sure that things didn’t happen like they did in the past. That this time he stood up for her.
But at the same time, I didn’t really feel as much of a connection between the two as I’d have liked. I’m sure I’m in the minority here. I just was so looking forward to their story and something felt like it was missing for me. I can’t quite put my finger on what I’m missing, but I just didn’t feel that feeling in my gut I get when the couple just meshes.
The story was good, the new edition of Valentina was great. Looking forward to her and Vaughn’s story.
Another fun read in the Broken Falls Series. It is always great to catch up with the previous characters as we dig deeper into this books main characters. I love the family this group has made of choice while still keeping the family by blood included where possible.
Gabby and Barrett have a history and in the end neither of them fought for what they really wanted. Letting opinions and their past push them apart. But watching all his friends starting to find their person and moving on to the next part of their lives, has Barrett wanting more.
Being there for Gabby when she needs him. Showing her he is the stand up guy she is looking for regardless of his age. Will that be enough for them to have a second chance and see where things could go?
As strong as Gabby has proved she is, starting her life over after divorce. Making her dreams come true in her little bakery shop. It is still nice to have someone there to lean on and support you. Could Barrett be just what she needs?
Grab your copy and enjoy as the story unfolds.

I love a reverse age gap, and this one didn’t disappoint. The book has a back story where they dated and broke up prior to the beginning of this book and both are regretting it. There appears to have been an issue with Barrett’s mother having an issue with the 11-year age gap and Barrett doesn’t stand up for himself and lets his mother’s issues become his issues as well. We’ve met Barrett in prior books in the series and he is the dancing man whenever they are out at the bar. He and Gabby met on Tinder, and we are told they had an instant connection. While I wanted to really love this couple, and I liked them, I just felt that we were missing something. This time around they both admit their feelings right away and want to make a go of it and not let outside forces (his momma) rain on their parade. If you love a blue collar, small town, second chance romance, this one is for you, as no one can tell a story like this author! This is the 4th book in the series, and while it is a stand-alone, you should read the previous books about this close-knit group of friends it is so worth it!!
Barrett is book four in The Broken Falls Series written by the talented author Laramie Briscoe. This is a series of interconnected standalones following a group of friends who have become family in small-town West Virginia, and the women who bring them to their knees. You do not have to read them in order, but each book builds upon the relationships of the last. Tropes Included;
small town blue collar second chance reverse age gap golden retriever hero
This is Barrett and Gabriella, sweet second chance romance story. Gabby is divorce and the owner of Get Baked and Barrett works construction with his friends. They had history together but ended the relationship do to the age gap between them. Barrett still wants Gabby so they reconnect and are trying to overcome the issues to make it work between them. The plot is full of drama, friends, amazing characters, great advice, second chances, lots of dancing, a jerk = Gabby ex, new friend, steamy and romance. A must read!!!
The next installment in the Broken Falls saga; Barrett continues the journey. This book is all about the small town, age gap, second chance romance that sets the pages aflame with their chemistry. As always it’s recommended to read the series in order to get the most out of the story and characters, but each book can be read as a standalone.
Gabby and Barrett are a hoot to read! Gabby is a decade older than Barrett, and living life as a newly divorced woman, Barrett is a younger guy planning his life with his buddies. How these two mesh, I don’t know, but boy oh boy do they. They have a history together and I think that and their age gap makes the most out of the plot of the story. Nonetheless, the story is quick and easy to keep up for the reader.
If you're looking for something quick, spicy and fun, this is the book for you. Ms. Author has a wonderful talent at world building, her characters are fun and memorable, and the story is entertaining. You can’t ask for more in any book.
I have loved several books by this author. And the story line is still good, but (excluding the first book) this series just doesn't seem to be getting the same attention as others have, either from the author or the editor. Some of them have seemed to just repeat some things over and over/a character is told something but then hasn't been told that just a couple chapters later (I remember with one of them it felt like it was being repeated just to make the story longer). This story didn't have that as much as one of the others but there were typos, missing words, missing punctuation, a couple times switching POVs that are only marked by the name- no change in font or put in the center, looks just like the rest of the paragraphs except not having punctuation (but since that had already happened in the story, a change of POV was not what I thought until I started reading the next paragraph- the first time, her name would have made perfect sense there as it's own paragraph). I still love the characters and their story, it just could just be even better another round of editing.
Barrett wishes he had never lost his chance with Gabby. When he is given the chance to show Gabby that it will be different the second time around, he takes it. Gabby had a terrible first marriage so when there is stress in her relationship with Barrett hits a rough spot she lets go. When Barrett reenters her life, she is scared to try again but she is also scared to miss out on love.
Barrett and Gabby have pressures from many directions. They have to overcome their own internal issues. I thought the author did a good job showing them talking through their concerns. Barrett's mother has issues with Gabby being older than Barrett. Gabby's ex-husband is a jerk that causes her trouble. This is a short story so the author has to solve issues quickly. If you are looking for a big emotional story that is overwrought, this isn't it. If you are looking for two adult characters that act like adults and talk through issues, this is a good story.
This is a contemporary romance. This is part of a larger series but can be read as a stand-alone. I will read more from this author in the future.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the fourth book in this series. They can be read as stand alone books. Barrett and Gabby had gone on a few dates before and then Barrett messed things up when someone asked if Gabby was his mom. He wasn't prepared for a real relationship and how she made him feel. He knows it was his mistake and not Gabby's. Barrett can't get Gabby out of his head. Then when Gabby's bakery is broken into he knows it is time to get his crap together. If he is lucky she will give him a second chance. Gabby was married before and it wasn't great. Now that her business is taking off he wants to have his say. Will Gabby be willing to give Barrett a second chance? Can he show he is serious this time, that he wants to stand next to her when she needs him. I love this series and the characters. Gabby and Barrett are wonderful together. Sometimes you need to see what you are missing before you can truly appreciate it. Laramie you have done it again. I always love your books and this one was no different. Can't wait for the next one.
Barrett will steal your heart. A small-town blue-collar worker who loves his girl and is not afraid to let everyone know it. We learn that Barrett and Gabby have a past. On the surface, it appears an age difference drove them apart. If they were honest, it was more so lack of effort and communication. Both will admit they were left with big regrets. A break-in at Gabby’s business provides Barrett with an opportunity for a reconciliation. Even while apart the intensity of their feelings never wavered. But the regrets lead to the realization that some changes need to happen. The conversations between Barrett and the guys adds a lot to the story and I loved the comradery. There is the appropriate amount of spice and no third act break up. Barrett is book 4 in the Broken Falls series.
When I saw a post for this book I wanted to read it. I picked it up and headed into the Broken Falls world. I enjoyed this story!
Gabby and Barrett's journey got my attention! Gabby and Barrett used to date, but they broke up. When Gabby runs Get Baked and after it get broken into, Barrett needs her back in his life. Will Gabby and Barrett give things between them another chance and fight for what they have?
I felt for Gabby and admired her. I loved that she went after her dreams and started up Get Baked. I adored how Barrett was determined when it came to Gabby and how he truly cared for her. These two had such good chemistry. I enjoyed getting to see how they would tackle everything from their past to their present and the feelings between them that never went away.
I enjoyed being in the Broken Falls world and what the other characters brought to the story!
With Barrett, Ms.Briscoe has created a good read that had me feeling many things! I am so looking forward to Vaughn's story!

Barrett by Laramie Briscoe due 8/5/24 5 stars Barrett & Gabby
AGE. Age is just a number. But is it?
She ended her miserable marriage to build her dream. A dream that was coming true. When she wanted to add more to her personal life enter Barrett. She wondered if the age difference would matter to him. She wasn't a cougar but she was older by more than she liked. It became an issue that ended them.
The longer they were apart the more he regretted what happened. He wondered if she felt the same. An incident brought him running. Could they find their way back to each other? He planned to do everything he could to get her back.
A love story with a different conflict. For fans of the series, lots of their friends and characters we've watched find HEAs are there to help. A series fans will want to continue.
Gaby hasn't had an easy past, being married to an abusive man who shattered her self-esteem. When she decides to end her marriage and follow her dream, the result is Get Baked, a successful bakery in the small town of Broken Falls. Barrett is a young small-town blue-collar worker who knows what he wants. We learn that Gaby and Barrett have a past, but probably because of the age difference, their relationship didn't work out at the time. When Gaby's bakery is attacked and Barrett is nearby to help her, he asks her for a second chance, since they both never stopped having feelings for each other. As they explore their new relationship, they also learn to communicate better to make it work. I loved the story and the characters, as well as being able to revisit the characters from the other books. I highly recommend reading it.
Since her divorce from a man who stifled her dreams, Gabby has worked hard to create the bakery/café that she has always wanted. She and Barrett have a past until they let the opinions of others drive them apart, but they are still a part of each other’s lives. When circumstances bring them together once again, they both want a second chance.
Barrett regrets that he didn’t fight harder for what he and Gabby shared but he isn’t about to let that happen a second time. The difference is their ages don’t matter to them so it shouldn’t matter to anyone else, and he isn’t about to let anyone, or anything come between them again.
Both Barrett and Gabby bear the emotional scars of their pasts which did cause a little turmoil, but they soon realize that as long as they have each other they can overcome anything.
Barrett is another great book in this great broken Falls series, while it can easily be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading the books in the series in order as the characters appear throughout and they do build on each other, and Barrett has introduced characters who will be appearing in the next book (Vaughn), which I can't wait to read.
Another great thing about this series is the relationships are all different, there has been age-gap (older man, younger woman), similarly ages, arranged marriage, and in the case of Barrett, reverse age gap (older woman, younger man) and a bit of second chance - it keeps the series as a whole fresh / interesting.
Barrett and Gabby are both hardworking, caring and made for each other. Despite their differences and the challenges they face, I loved their connection and they way the both acknowledged that their initial breakdown (pre start of this book) was on both of them and they worked on communication and resolving it.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This series is so great in that it doesn’t let outside forces detract from the development of the characters relationship through the book
There was some outside drama but it wasn’t a big part of the storyline at all.
Gabby and Barrett both had so work to do to get back the fledgling relationship they had previously. Once they got over their past hurt, this seemed to move really quickly for them and I liked the pacey nature of the romance.
Hot hot hot at times, I loved how both characters really found comfort and confidence in each other and used that to be the best version of themselves.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Barrett and Gabby broke up due to their age difference and the comments Barrett’s mother made at that time didn’t help. Back together again for a second time they are trying better to communicate with each other. Gabby fresh from divorcing her husband then finds he is wanting ti take her bakery business away from her. This comes at the same time that she is trying to build a relationship with Barrett’s mother. Gabby comes across as a likeable person and although her confidence has taken a hit she has Barrett and her friends on her side. This is an easy book to read, the chapters flow by with lots happening to keep the story interesting. Definitely one to recommend.

Trust and Believe!!! Those are the ingredients for a successful everlasting relationship and our couple have them in spades!
It's so hard to find your way through the ruins of your life and the courage to stand on your own feet when they try to belittle you and make you a pawn or a puppet for their own purposes.
You know what's nearly impossible? To find a person to support you, live your dreams with you, love and cherish you! Come along with me and discover their love.
Gabriella and Barrett gave me the opportunity to see them grow emotionally and flourish through difficulties. I felt their love deeply and I'm grateful to Laramie Briscoe for the opportunity to enjoy another one of her stories!!!.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3.5 stars Barrett is book four in the Broken Falls series. It follows Barrett and older woman Gabby, who owns a bakery. I liked this book, but didn’t love it. Just like with the rest of the series, you definitely need to read the books in order as their relationship started and was mentioned in the previous books. They had a thing and ended it before this book started. I did love how Barrett seemed to grow and he and Gabby were willing to make their relationship work this time. I just wish we got to experience the whole beginning of the relationship and maybe that would have helped me to connect to their relationship better. I did enjoy reading about the supporting characters and love how they support one another. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Oh my Barrett is my new book boyfriend! He is absolutely divine. Sure he and Gabby made some mistakes the first time around but they learned the lesson. Now they have a second chance and they both want to hold on tight and get the happiness they both deserve. The Broken Falls series is pure romance at its finest. Gabby hasn't had the easiest time, her marriage really tore her self-esteem to shreds. Barrett looks at her like she hung the moon and that is everything to her. Sure, she had a comfortable life with her ex but it battered her soul. Barrett has missed Gabby with every beat of his heart. He is determined to make sure that nothing will keep them apart ever again. A joy to read, I cannot wait for Vaughn's story!!
