Tahereh Mafi is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Shatter Me series. She was born in a small city somewhere in Connecticut and currently resides in Santa Monica, California with her husband, fellow author Ransom Riggs. She can usually be found over-caffeinated and stuck in a book. Shatter Me is her first series, with television rights optioned by ABC Signature Studios; Furthermore, her first middle grade novel, is on shelves now, and Whichwood, its darker companion, will be on shelves November 14, 2017.
The first book definitely took a while to get going — the pacing was slow at the start, and it took me some time to get fully invested. But I’m so glad I waited it out, because once the story found its rhythm, I was hooked. The world-building is rich, the writing is beautiful, and the characters really grew on me. By the end, I found myself fully immersed and genuinely enjoying the series. If you’re struggling with the beginning, keep going — it’s absolutely worth it.
Easy 5 star! The first book was good, but the other 2 were on another level, Tahereh Mafi really knows how write, God I love her books so much! Alizeh, amazing, Cyrus, obsessed and out of his mind, Kamran funny (I still like him very much) huda is such a cutie, the little boy who’s name I don’t remember was also cute. I hope they have their good ending ahhh.
If I don’t get the next book I’m going feral. Tahereh Mafi my queen you’ve done it again, wouldn’t expect anything else. I thought I liked Aaron Warner…
oh my god boy do i have some opinions about this. MIND YOU, Tahereh Mafi is a really good writer I will say that like she is good at stringing words together and forming a narrative. HOWEVER, these skills are aimlessly being wasted on MEDIOCRE booktok-esque tropes with no actual literary value. I truly think the reason why people go insane over her books is because she is among the very SMALL pool of actual "authors" who publish romance books and it's not straight up garbage cuz she can actually do creative writing. As someone who extensively has studied Persian mythology tho... this really hurt to read. Not only the romanticization of common Persian names was really weird for me, but the fact that she so clearly took inspiration from Persian mythology stories but did not adhere to any of their elements pissed me off. The mythological stories are valuable and important because the heroes and villains are the main characters on which the story focuses on and it's incredibly nuanced and critical but when your entire story is revolved around a third party that has nothing to do with them, you are kind of taking the attention away from the most critical elements of the storytelling and when the snakes come out, it's not striking anymore the way it is in the original story, and it just sounds stupid because people don't get how important it is because you spent the entire story talking about some other random characters. ALSO, if I wanted to take inspiration like this, I would use a story that was actually romantic instead of forcing a third party romance on a story that has a critical lens on philosophy and politics. ADDITIONALLY, this is all despite the fact that her male characters are all. the. same. people. Like you can just say you were trying to write ACOTAR x Persian mythology with not a single original thought in any of these books. It hurts that she just stole the names off the original stories and plugged them into ACOTAR and published three books like that. I hate that the woman is always abused and belittled and she tolerates it until it's some handsome man and suddenly she's standing up for herself like bitch if you could do that why didn't you quit your fuckass toxic job. The whole story is just so saturated with repetitive tropes, uninteresting characters with no depth, and a plot so predictable because it's literally copied off other people's work that it makes the good writing go to waste. I hate that all the MMCs talk and act the same and the only way for me to distinguish them is their hair color. LEARN TO COME UP WITH AN ORIGINAL PLOT. This rant was long overdue because this is my culture and I particularly had a lot to say given my love and passion for the original Persian mythology stories that were impeccably written. I look forward to writing that is good but stories that are not lazy and copied off other things. bye now.

Yes BookTok brought me here. I was hesitant at first, a little because I thought Islam would be debauched but thank god that didn’t happen. Another thing I was worried about was going back to the YA section, I believe amazing books emerge out of that area after all look at HP, KOTLC, Cinder, etc…but it had been a while and I was scared of being cringed. Fear not my fellow readers for this triology-so far- has wowed me. It has reminded me why I fell in love with reading in the first place. The fantasy, characters, everything is so beautifully written. I enjoy that the chapters are short to keep me flipping for more and the descriptions make me swoon. SPOILERS BEGINNING HEREEEEEEEEE
All I can say is I liked Kamran in the beginning but once the red flags emerged I thought umm there’s no way these 2 should end up together. And then comes Cyrus. Oh Cyrus you beautiful beautiful man. Shining red locks and piercing blue eyes and a heart like no other. If Alizeh and him don’t have a happy ending I will quite literally scream, then cry, and maybe come back around again to read These Infinite Threads and pretend the book ends without Kamran ever showing up :). Anyways enough said I think? SO EXCITED FOR THE LAST BOOK

okay so i fully put my life on hold to read these books. not sure if Tahereh laces the pages with something but consider me an addict regardless. her first books are always so coherent and well-rounded and sometimes as the series progresses the focus feels a bit misplaced and repetitive but that is a teeeeeeeny minor critique in the scheme of the milky way. she can hit me with an blunt object and i’d be grateful! love every relationship between every character. i feel like she is as much an author as she is an understander of people and of how they work. so much of her work is just strikingly well written characters. please may i have book 4 xxxx
Tahereh Mafi is such a beautiful writer when it came to this series, I was so shocked. Everything about this series is just so perfect. The chemistry and romance in these books are like top tier like this is some peak romance.
The references to Persian mythology, and poetry and all sorts of symbolism the author adds into the books just makes it all so much better.
I don’t usually read series,’ fantasy or romance this was all of that in one and I’m just stunned with how much of a masterpiece this series was. I can’t wait for the next book
I really liked these books. I haven’t read this kind in a while so I was pretty excited and I’m pretty sad that I finished them so quickly. The only thing bugging me was that it was really slow and how Kamran was treating Omid. And- how he compared Huda to Alizeh. He was good in the first book but the following two he was just very icky and..childish?.. in a way.

soooo i basicallyforgot I had read the third book on this series last year, soooo I read it again. I think with this is evident how much indifference i feel towards it. Last year idk why I gave it 4 stars, but right now is just a 3.
