Rase & Amelia’s story is a sweet, wholesome, Christian, enemies-to-lovers Western romance. This was my first time to read anything by Teresa Slack, but it won’t be my last! I definitely recommend this lovely novella!
Here’s a beautiful excerpt from this book that captured my imagination. He kept his ear tuned to the soft sounds of the woman moving around in the next room. He tried not to notice, though he couldn’t deny it was nice having someone else in the house. A woman. A beautiful woman with a gentle nature toward her daughter, though she hadn’t directed any of that gentleness toward him.

This is a sweet and tender-hearted story that I just couldn't put down. Rase hadn't seen his Aunt Nan for 8 years until the day she arrived with her helper and friend Amelia, a widowed young woman and mother to her toddler daughter, Celeste. Amelia noticed the handsome Rase, the town's much sought after bachelor, but she's not interested in marrying again after her husband and other daughter died during a measles outbreak. Soon enough both Rase and Amelia know that Aunt Nan is up to her matchmaking attempts, but neither are interested. Or are they? What about their growing feelings for each other? I enjoyed the Christian sentiment throughout, especially Rase's comment: "There are 2 ways of looking at things. . .your way and God's way, and if they don't agree, you're the one who's wrong." I also liked the honest communication between Amelia, Aunt Nan, and Rase as well as little Celeste's transformation from a shy little girl to an energetic one as she soaked up the loving care from the folks of Cowboy Creek. I highly recommend this clean sweet Historical Western Romance. I received a complimentary ARC and have voluntarily given my honest opinion in this review.
Aunt Nan has come to Cowboy Creek with Amelia and her 3 yr old daughter, Celeste. Rase knows what his aunt is up to and he isn't interested. Amelia's husband was a pastor. There was a small pox outbreak. Their daughter died. She begged him not to go when another townsperson came to get him, but he said he had to serve God. Then he got sick and died 5 days after they buried their daughter. It's been 2 years and Amelia feels that God doesn't care about her. She's going to take care of her daughter and not experience loss again. She knows what Nan has in mind, but she's not interested. She is going to use the time in Cowboy Crossing to decide the future for her and Celeste. Of course, Rase changes his mind about marrying, but thinks that Amelia is still in love with her husband and won't be able to love anyone else. So sweet. Final book in the Cross Creek Brides series. Loved this series. Each book just gets better and better.
Amelia Lockwoode loses her husband and one of her daughters during a disastrous measles outbreak and finds herself working as a companion to the elderly Nan Canfield who brings her with her other daughter Celeste out to Cowboy Creek. Nan maintains it is to visit her favorite nephew, Rase, but soon both Rase and Amelia guess that she wants to see them strike up a romance. Unfortunately, Rase is not interested in marriage and Amelia is still absorbed in grief over the loss of her husband. Teresa Slack weaves a delightful story that brings together the reluctant couple.
The plot is not overly complicated and the characters are attractive and compelling and there is just the right touch of God’s forgiveness and guidance to remind us of who we should really trust with our lives. A lovely and easy read.

I've loved this WHOLE series of books!! This is a great conclusion and I am going to miss all the wonderful characters I've met through Teresa Slack's writing. Especially Aunt Nan, I love her wisdom & Godly outlook on life and love. I think we all need someone like her in our lives :-) And she's just a hoot to know, she has her own ways of doing things but she's just so lovable that you can't help but be happy around her....even when her ideas are contrary to yours!
I'm a new fan of this author & will be scouting out her other books. They're clean, full of faith and characters to cheer for & watch fall in love. The journey they take to get there is fun to read about!
This the tale of Rase, the lone bachelor of Cowboy Creek, and the widow Amelia and her young daughter. She’s the assistant to Aunt Nan the woman that started this whole bride thing for Cowboy Creek‘s bachelors. Aunt Nan is working her magic again with her assistant and her nephew. They both carry baggage from their pasts and some wounds run deep and they do for Jase and Amelia. Just as the tale ends a new gentleman bachelor shows up. Jase tell his bride his aunt isn’t to only matchmaker in town as he looks at her with twinkle in his eye and a wink. You will greatly enjoy this tale.
Amelia is book 9 in the Nine Brides for Cowboy Creek hy Teresa Stack. I thought that thus inspirational historical romance was so well written. Rase does not want to be hogtied while Amelia does not want to risk het heart after losing her husband and daughter to measles. Of course, Aunt Nan is quite the matchmaker! I enjoyed the story and characters. Amelia is a wonderful way to escape into the past for an enjoyable romance. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
Amelia is a sweet romance that begins with great reluctance on both sides. Both Amelia, a young widow left alone to care for her daughter, and Rase, a confirmed bachelor, feel manipulated by Rase's well-meaning aunt. The book is filled with faith, coming to terms with disappointment, and some refreshingly candid interactions. Add in the delightful supporting characters, and you've got a great read! I'll be catching up on the rest of the series.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series and this is a great finale to end it! Teresa Slack does a wonderful job of creating characters that you care about and plots that are authentically Christian while being realistic and not saccharine sweet. I heartily recommend each book in this series as well as her others series. She is a terrific writer with lots of variety, even intrigue and mystery. She’s just the best!
I'm giving this story 5 stars only because it is exactly what it claims to be - a short, sweet, clean historical romance set during the Christmas season. I liked how the author included Amelia's struggles with her faith and her anger with God, but how she didn't turn away from Him. The daughter, Celeste, is delightful and the setting is described in a way that you can feel the snowflakes on your face. So, although not a classic by any means, it's a nice story.
Amelia married David. He was a pastor. When a measles epidemic hits their area, David feels led to help each family that has a death. He does not think he will get sick, but succumbs along with a daughter.
Amelia's grieving led to her not ever wanting to remarry. She makes friends with Nan Canfield. The three of them travel to Cowboy Creek. There, Amelia's future would change.
Amelia and Rase both have their reasons shying away from falling in love and thus preventing getting hurt again. Thankfully meddling aunt Nan doesn´t give up easily and constantly keeps pushing them in the right direction, her determination saves the couple from forsaking a chance at true love and it keeps the reader highly entertained.
Such a nice story! —and very well written. Not too wordy, and just enough description to understand what’s going on —and what things looked like. I recommend this book to those who enjoy a historical romance that’s clean and interesting and believable. And I will certainly look for more books by this author—Teresa Slack. Thank you!
Wow! I am so glad I found this mail order Bride series but so sorry I finished the last one last night. They enriched my days with laughter, romance and the perseverance of the frontier spirit. Now I have to find more books by Teresa Slack to fill my days and nights. Thank you Teresa for making my reading more interesting. God Bless.
Very sweet story. Amelia, is cashing with the death of her husband and daughter from a measles outbreak. Feeling more numb inside than alive, Amelia struggled to relate to her baby daughter while dealing with the grief. The trip to Cowboy Creek with Nan, is just the thing she and her young daughter needed!
This was a sweet, clean Christian historical romance that addressed issues such as death, feelings of abandonment and of inadequacy. It was well written and dealt with these topics with sensitivity. I enjoyed it very much!
Its nice reading books that display kindness to others and shows how working together can create live and happiness. The different towns were built on people taking a chance on change.
I absolutely loved every book inthis series. I love that they are clean that they include our Lord and Savior and Biblical living. I can’t wait to hear how things have progressed and hopefully…Nan’s story.
I enjoyed Amelia Nine Brides for Cowboy Creek by Teresa Slack. This is the first book I read and I did not realize this was a series. So I am looking forward to going back and reading all the other books. I really enjoyed this book.
I have enjoyed all nine of the Brides for Cowboy Creek series. Very versatile stories but all ending with sweetly with love. Highly recommend these clean books.
Sweet and tender. This little Christian, country, romance was a wonderful story to read. I loved all the little moments in the book! I will have to go back and read the rest of the series soon.
