Having followed Laura for a while on social media when she announced this book I was so excited! I bought this book on audible and listened to Laura talk through the key stages of a child's developent in a warm and non-judgemental way.
I found this book so useful, I have a 2 and 5 year old and if I am honest this book was a key way to really look into my parenting and start to make positive changes in not just my children's development but my own as a Mother. The chapters I found most helpful were regarding dummies (pacifiers) emotional development and sleep. I am looking forward to implementing Laura's advice into my household and get us on track for some well adjusted and happy children (as well as parents).
Overall this for me was a non-negotiable 5 star. It was full of advice and anecdotes to back up how to effectively use the information given. Each child is their own and not all methods will work but this is something Laura notes and always recommends professional help for anything that concerns you about your own toddler!
If you do decide to write another book Laura, perhaps on feisty five year olds and their development and help with their big feelings, you have a reader here ready and waiting to take on more of your advice!
Enjoyed it a lot. Light reading with a good combination of anecdotes and practical tips. I particularly enjoyed the examples on how to practice different skills like patience or resilience in everyday scenarios. As well as the age at which different behaviours are appropriate and expected.
The anecdotes of some the unbelievable parents reactions could be a book of itself, i’m sure there are so many more stories that would get a giggle!
Lots of the advice can be classed as good old common sense, but that might be a more personal view - i guess it depends on how much experience you have with childcare and how much you’ve already read on the topic.
