Middlaeg Fortress is under attack! As a swarm of berserk Berguignons approach, the knights of Galbraith defend the castle, only to find that the birds are not the only monsters in the sky. Now, the fate of Middlaeg depends on Aristide and Blanche's swordplay…or does Melphiera's laboratory actually contain an even more powerful secret weapon?
Not a holiday volume despite the cover, it’s not even set in the winter. While I enjoyed seeing Melphie continue to come into her own with her potion making, this is my least favorite volume thus far. The romance took a backseat and this installment focused heavily on minor monsters (garden pests etc) and the Sirius puppy story arc. I love the puppy as a character but, as someone with fur family, I’m not liking the storyline.
MF, royalty, monster hunters, cooking montage, animal companion, established relationship
The cover is another amazing piece of art (poster worthy in my opinion) but it does seem to not connect as well with the story as I thought it would. That being said, this is another solid and fun volume. I think the way this is written is a perfect light-hearted manga read. The volume heavily rotates around the puppy, but I will say the dress print to me was a hidden gem in this volume. It caught my eye and really popped! If you have enjoyed the previous 6 volumes, this one will be a joy as well. Looking forward to the next volume!
It’s fun to see the heroine playing a support role in battle. I hope the puppy gets back to its mother in the next volume so we can move onto another arc (not that it isn’t cute, I’m just a bit over this bit haha).
This volume is mostly about the puppy (who is so cute!) and maybe reuniting them with their mum. I loved the floral dress that Melphie wore for most of the volume.
Still continuing to love this series. This volume does focus more on the beast pup and finding its mom versus her introducing more recipes with monster meat.
