Trick My Treat

Rate this book
Mischief night meets magic…
I never realized just how trapped I felt under the water until my sister married the wolf pack alpha last year. Suddenly, a life on land was actually possible. I love the ocean and my family, and I’m super protective of them…I just feel like I’m living life for the first time. There's so much more to the world than my father’s palace beneath the coral and I intend to see it all.

But I refuse to do this Reese’s way. I don’t need the marriage loophole to control my shifting. I’m a siren and proud of it. So I’ll make my adventures include shifting.

How? Well, I’m starting my own travel agency just for sirens.

I’m going to be the one to let the sirens loose. That will be my legacy as Princess under the sea. Because we have every right to venture around the world like the other supernaturals do, and there are five oceans just waiting for us to explore.

The only thing standing in my way?

Monroe Whittaker. The mage with an attitude problem. I don’t care that he’s been running the only travel agency on Megelle Island for ten years. I don’t care that he feels threatened by my company. And I definitely don’t care about that cocky, arrogant little smirk he gives me when he thinks he’s won the battle. There’s plenty of room on this Island for the both of us and he’s about to find out what tricks I have up my scales. The war has just begun.

This fish may be out of water, but I have no intention to fail.

*Disclaimer: Halloween Marked is Season FOUR in The Night Realm Series. BUT Trick My Treat can be read as a standalone but contains some spoilers for the first three seasons Magic Marked, Christmas Marked, and Court Marked.

I loved this book, i’m already a huge fan of Chandelle an Megan but their Christmas marked series had a special place in my heart and the Halloween marked is joining it. Chip is adorable and I love her personality and Monroe is a grouchy hottie. I loved their fights! This book was 10/10

Start to another Night Realm Marked series – this time with Hallowe’en as the backdrop. So many fun events on Megelle Island celebrating all aspects of the season with activities geared to the different paranormal/magical groups on successive days. I would love to visit this place during Festival time!

One theme that runs through the story is inclusion, with Heroine Chip advocating to ensure that the Sirens are less isolated and can also participate in all the Island activities, and even travel the world if they want. Another highlight for me were the ingenious inventions/gadgets Monroe’s Travel Agency provided for the unique challenges for each species while travelling.

In the story there were interactions with oodles of familiar friends and faces from the Night Realm Christmas Series, but new readers might be a tad overhwhelmed with all the characters and their magical aspects if they have not read the earlier series. Glad Chip and Monroe worked through their stuff to get their happy ending, and I really enjoyed the sweet and charming romance between their besties. Looking forward to more books in this series.

Enemies to lovers with a wonderful Halloween twist.

Who doesn’t love when a sassy siren decides to go head-to-head with the “supposed” owner of a watch she found and the towns resident travel expert? I enjoyed watching these two prank each other to literal physical harm... accidentally. Monroe and Chip are my favorite trope and with the amazing writing of Chandelle and Megan they captured me once again in the world of Megelle Island.

It was amazing getting to see two more of the siren princesses find their land legs and create a life for themselves with the other citizens of this magical town. Chip and Pickles had a brilliant idea that will help to bring their people into the fold of the other magical races. I hope we get to see more of their journey as they continue running their siren travel agency.

One of the things I love most about this series is that the other books always are happening at the same time so I can’t help but looking for clues as to who our other lead characters will be as time goes on. That pink parrot definitely might be another jinn which means some more shapeshifting good times.

I tried to like this book.

I got to page 37. Sorry, I don't want to read a romance between two people I do not like. Maybe if you like enemies to lovers tropes, you'll like this book better than I do.

It starts with Chip seeing someone drop a watch from a boat. She picks it up and decides to keep it. Then the boat turns around and a man demands his watch returned. She refuses. Was he rude? Yes. Is she still wrong, also yes. This devolves into name calling, which feels childish and unhelpful. I already dislike them both.

I thought the authors would then make an effort to show me these people were having an off day. Nope! I quit when Monroe makes a comment about controlling women. Gross.

I have enjoyed other books in the series, but this is not a book I want to read. They don't deserve a happily ever after unless they learn a few lessons in decency first.

Really enjoyable

Love all their books. Very easy read and very enjoyable. These remind me of seasonal Hallmark movies. Just a make you feel good book. I love reading about all the many side characters from the main books you meet but don't get to really know and all the antics that happen on the island. I love how you get teased with possible future characters that make you want to know what's going on with them. There are typos but they are not bad enough that you don't know what meant to be there so it didn't bother me at all. I wish it was more mature in detail at times but I also like that it's safe for teens to read too. But anyways I love them and all their books individually and together. Can't wait for more to come. Hope they never stop.

Chip is one of the oldest daughters of King Titan.

She has always found that not enough was being done to rappatriate the Siren population to the island where her community lives and enjoy life.

The only travel organizers on the island are Monroe as well as his cousin Dawson.

When Monroe loses a watch in the ocean, not far from where he lives, a siren shows up and picks up the watch.

Trying to get back dis possession will not go as smoothly as it appears.

These two fantastic authors have written a great story about dedication to others and species reunification with the dangers associated with that.
The constant bickering going on is cumbersome and childish. It will cost this story 1 Star.

I therefore rate this book 4 Stars and recommend it

Spectacular, just like the Christmas series!

The story of a siren named Chip. She is a princess that lives in a castle under the sea. Her sister married Holden the pack alpha. Her sister lives a life on land thanks to to Peggy Bow. She created a necklace that lets the shifter to change when she wants to. Sirens change when they get wet. This series comes up with new traditions for Halloween some I would love to try. The best part of this book is Monroe & Chip don't want to admit they are attracted to each other. Instead they both decide to be snarky to each other. From there it escalates copying Monroe's business but catering to sirens & jinn. When Chip decides to put toilet paper all over Monroe's booth at the festival things get heated. And anyone in the cross fire is collateral damage. The pranks are epic & you will laugh out loud from the antics. If it's not these two don't forget about Jimbo & Sal's pranks they are in here too. Trust me one this you MUST READ this book!!!

Trick My Treat

I so want to move to Megelle Island, or maybe visit for the holidays? Either or.
I absolutely love this world, and every time I get to go back, I am so excited to take the trip.
In this one, we meet a few more of the siren princesses. Chip and her sister Pickels decide to start a business for sirens only. They meet Monroe and his cousin Dawson. The pranks between Chip and Monroe are hilarious. This book is so much fun, and is the perfect way to get in the Halloween spirit.
It does have a HEA...

ok

This story was OK, but it was definitely a little ridiculous. It was also definitely a enemies to lovers romance. The first thing I thought made this book kind of childish was all the princess sirens named after food. Nobody else in this book was named after food except for the princesses. The next thing I thought was ridiculous was how much chip and Monroe bickered throughout this whole book. I felt like I was in high school dealing with stupid. Other than those two things, the storyline was pretty good in this book.

It kept me turning pages. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie. You know how it takes foreverrrr for the FMC and MMC to fall for eachother and only kiss. But it was very sweet book towards the end. Idk how old these characters are but the beginning/middle when they were pranking each other, I just kept thinking, grow up dude. lol Went into this with low expectations and came out somewhat satisfied. I’d say that’s a win. The title alone is why I read it.

I loved this read, it was such a fun, I loved the pranks and Halloween fun. The sparks between Chip and Monroe were so bright and obvious, I couldn't wait to see when they were going to realise that for themselves! That twist of Monroe's origins was awesome and I loved the kissing booth scene.
So looking forward to more from the Halloween Marked series.

Another Fantastic book by two fantastic writers.

Love how the writers combined both of their names to name the Megelle Island. Don't know if that's a correct statement but its my feelings on the name of the island. Loved this as I loved the Christmas ones. Like the Christmas ones once this series is complete I will be buying the physical books.

World traveling sirens

Sirens are understandably not travelers outside the water. One drop of rain or a split drink and bam, they lose their legs and gain a tail! And heaven forbid humans see it, no magic. This is a "tale" of how two sirens, with a little witch help, set out to help sirens see the world safely. Hilarious in spot, it's a fun read!

Absolutely loved this book! The redemption of the two main characters was good and I loved to see the spooky season on the island. The twists Chandelle and Megan threw at us kept the story exciting and not predictable.

They're always fighting.

What happens when your sister is soul mate with the cousin/best friend of your worst enemy? This story is full of mishaps and miscommunication, that lead to a lot of funny circumstances. Loved this light hearted look at soul mates. Good Read.
