Pleasure has never been so deadly.

Rose Cassidy doesn’t truly live; she just exists. Numbing herself to fear and pain is the only way she can survive in this cruel world. So when she’s taken as collateral by the notorious Danny Black in a deadly game of power, she’s thrown by the deep fear she feels rising within her. And, worse than fear, a profound desire. She’s heard tales of The Brit. He’s callous. Coldblooded. But no one ever said he was wickedly beautiful and darkly captivating. He sees past her mask, giving her a cruel sense of hope. But she must fight their twisted attraction or risk losing the one thing she survives for.

When Danny Black took an enemy’s beautiful lover as security, he never anticipated the repercussions. Or the warped attraction they would share. Rose Cassidy pushes Danny to the brink of madness with her impenetrable façade and savage allure. He has to remind himself that she’s bait. A solution to a problem. Yet she evokes powerful feelings in Danny, and feelings are risky when you’re wanted dead by endless enemies.

The most dangerous game is about to be played.

But can either of them win?

*This story is gritty, dark, edgy, and contains scenes that some people may find uncomfortable to read. It is NOT for the fainthearted.

1 Laugh My Fucking Ass Off stars

Ok where to begin with this pile of garbage.....

Let me start off by saying that i am DESPERATE for a good book. Any book. So when i saw this pop up in my feed i just jumped right in, thinking to myself "how bad could this possibly be." Turns out pretty bad that it gets a prime spot in my 'stupid hall of fame' shelf. Here are my 3 main reasons why this book is a waste of time and money.

1. The hero.
He was a literal dumpster fire. This author does not know how to write a bad ass anti-hero to save her life. Just because he drops the f-bomb every other sentence or threatens to shoot people in the face every other page does NOT make someone a bad ass. In fact, i think it does the complete opposite. This dude really thought he was a German Sheppard when in actuality, he came off as a loud and obnoxious Chihuahua. Small dick energy for dayzzzzzz. If you're going to write a main character this horrible, you better have amazing character development and this just did not have that.

And to make his character even worse, he has sex with OW when he feels sexually frustrated over the h. Talk about the least sexy thing a romantic lead can do in a book. 🤢🤮

2. Bait and Switch writing
I've read this author before and she does this ad nauseam. It is *e x h a u s t i n g* to read MC interactions that never go anywhere. Its the constant push and pull of the MC's emotions where they are on fire for each other one minute and then suddenly realize they cant act on their attraction and everything stops, making the other character leave the room.... or in this case.... take a shower.
THESE CHARACTERS WERE CONSTANTLY IN THE SHOWER.

But i digress...

3. The heroine
Gonna keep this short. She was a complete waste of space and her decisions/thought process made no sense. She is the epitome of a 'too stupid to live heroine' and honestly I'm embarrassed a woman wrote this.

Safety: NOT SAFE AT ALL
(PS. I only got to 65% and skimmed the rest so this safety section is only half baked)
- Hero was raped and beaten as a kid by his step dad (off page)
- Heroine was raped and forced to have a baby (off page)
- Hero has sex scenes with OW before (on page) and after he meets heroine (off page). The OW sticks around so the heroine can see that shes there.
- Heroine has sex with OM before she meets hero (on page) and she's never had a good sexual experience in her life. She’s blackmailed by another man to be a whore so she can get updates on her son.
-Hero constantly threatens heroines life. He slaps her across the face, constantly man-handling her, and chokes her almost every chapter. Both of the characters are edge lords so they're constantly testing each other to see if they feel pain.
- Hero makes the heroine be naked in front of all of his entourage and then gets mad when they look.

Jodi Ellen Malpas goes dark and it was a wild and beautiful ride.

It’s no secret that JEM is one of my favorite authors so when she dropped a surprise release with a hot new villainous, bad boy BRITISH hero my blood pressure skyrocketed...lol. Yes please and where do I buy my copy.

Danny is a bad boy Brit who transplanted to the US and the head of the crime family in Florida.. When Rose drops into his hands she is initially a pawn for revenge on his enemy but over time he sees so much more in her. Rose is emotionally dead inside. She is used by men and no longer feels anything until Danny awakens her desire.

This dark romance had my riveted and I was thoroughly entrenched in Rose and Danny’s world. Danny is a ruthless and violent SOB so trigger warning...he is definitely an anti-hero. JEM cleverly wrote this story with conflict, twists and passion.

I highly recommend this one.

The cover (I haven’t recovered yet...😱💞) and the blurb caught my interest immediately!!

And The Brit didn’t let me down!! 🤩🤩

If you are looking for a strong and gripping dark mafia romance read, with an outstanding antihero and a ballsy heroine in a toxic relationship and all hell breaking loose, do not hesitate to give it a chance! 😉

My only issue was the abrupt (predictable) ending and lacking of epilogue.

TW self harm and sexual assault

This was such a good mafia romance between two people who have been hurt and damaged in the past and who want to seek revenge on those who have wronged them. I really loved how they bonded over their pasts and had a deeper level of understanding of one another. From the beginning this book is dark for both the hero and the heroine. I felt for them both so much and I really loved how they fell so hard for each other, which posed a dilemma for both of them. He's in the mafia and she's being blackmailed to do things she doesn't want to do. Falling in love definitely does not fit in their lives. Please know that this is dark going in, but I loved this mafia romance!

I'm torn between how I feel and how I should write this Review.
How's that, you may ask...

Well... Because here is a book that I truly fucking loved the characters, their backgrounds, their personalities, the way they first met, the way that they struggled with their feelings, and everything else... But just In the first half of the story!

Then the author ruined them for me, and I'm having a hard time to understand why, so let me start from the beginning.

Talk about sexual tension!
I swear to God that this book was built up over a fire pit of sexual tension!

Rose was everything! A fucking Queen!
I loved her strength, how she endured everything that was thrown on her way, just to protect her kid. How she was like a brick wall in front of Danny, and how she won his respect and interest just by being that strong woman.

Danny was the perfect ruthless mafia boss. Handsome, feared, intense, detached, murderous, fucked up and psychotic!
I was obsessed with everything that he'd said, he'd done and how he acted.

Their connection was inevitable and undeniable. They're just a matching made in hell!
Their banter just put a smile on my face every time!

So what's the issue?

As good as the book started, unfortunately I can't agree with the way that the author choose for them to follow.
And it's okay, because everyone is entitled to their opinion about a book that they paid for, so here's mine.

I hated how she turned the story from a build up powerful mafia couple, to a weak damsel in distress, who couldn't hold herself together, and needed to be saved at every turn, and a loyal and respectful mafia boss, into a coward pussy whipped man, looking for an easy scape of the only life he always knew, the life that he thrived on and that saved him from misery and pain. He was loyal to his father, and he was respected.

So instead of that powerful couple that she was building up at the beginning, what the second half of the story gave me, was a lot of predictable actions, a weak and crying mess of an heroine, and although Danny still killed his enemies the way I expect him to, without remorse and full of hatred, he still seek for the easy way out of his own empire, just to live a "normal" life with his woman.

Awnnnnnn so romantic! 😒😒😒

But hey... At least they're the cleanest couple that I've ever read, since they're in the shower every other chapter!

Again, that's not what I expected, because they truly had everything to be a powerful mafia couple, specially after he already had killed their enemies... but maybe that's just my dark heart, crying the loss of such a good psychotic MMC, and a strong FMC for the mundane overrated life.

With the amount of holes left behind, I'm pretty sure that another book will be on their future... Maybe they even get bored of their peaceful island, and leave the death life, to raise hell together....
A girl can dream!

I hate how much I loved this and ate this up. This was dark but it drew me in immediately! 🖤

In terms of trigger warnings, just think of every one imaginable & it will be in this book. This is not a love story that you want to aspire to be a part of. This was dark and dangerous. A mafia romance. Lots of action and death. Destruction. But I ate every moment of this up. & it wasn’t a short book either. It was long with so much going on.

I can’t say much else without giving major plot points away but be aware that this isn’t a book for someone looking for a fluffy, happy romance.

Will be reading the next one ASAP!

I don't what happened. I used to love JEM's books and she used to be a top author for me. I used to devour her books, some even multiple times, but with her last releases ... it's all quickly going downhill for me.

I love dark romance. Some of my favourite books are dark romance. And possessive, badass men? Y e s. Make him British on top of it and you have me in the front row.

This one looked really promising at the start. The tension and chemistry between Danny and Rose was over the roof and I was all for it.

But there's a line between a romance - or a relationship being dark and being straight-up abusive. Because this is what it was. I really (and I cannot stress this enough) don't support abuse. I thought (more like hoped) we were past that already and we would stop making it look like a man manhandling a woman is sexy but I guess not!

A few things that made me really not like this book:

The book starts with two very heartbreaking prologues. One for each of our darlings: Danny and Rose - Twenty and ten years ago. Now they're 30 and 25 years old and living in Miami.
Danny just inherited his dad's mafia business. And now he very badly needs this new marina for his business and the stupid lawyer - who wants to be mayor - is not getting the job done.
Enter Rose. She's been sent to that lawyer/mayor to get information. And in the middle of playing that part - she kinda gets kidnapped by Danny. LOL!
That's all I'm telling you about the story. Anything more would spoil too much.

This was a very dark and criminal and violent love story. But also such a sweet and heartbreaking one. Ugh. Those poor darlings!
I loved reading this book - and I usually don't do mafia romances. I don't like it when my hero is a bad guy. But this was a JEM book and you just have to read those. And I just loved Danny and Rose. The only weird thing for my ears was his name. Danny. That does not sound like a hot bad guy. It sounds like a idiot little boy. Sorry to all Dannys out there. But the hot hot hot guy on the cover and the super hot guy in the book - so not a Danny to me. But you shouldn't judge a book (hero) by his name - so never mind. The book was beautiful. Inside and out! I cried a lot! It's all so very violent and criminal, but also so very sweet and sexy and ... just beautiful. Typical Jodi romance - even though it's so much darker than all her other books! READ IT!

The Brit was AMAZING! I was hooked right from the prologue and stayed invested until the very end. The character development was gradual and well done. It gave me all the feels.  The story was all-consuming.

Danny Black is all thing alpha, and if you have done him wrong consider yourself dead for there is no second chance for this man. Rose was fierce, beautiful, strong, and will do anything to save the person she loves. There was the instant attraction when they first met. You can feel the lust even when there was intense hate. Danny and Rose are perfect for each other. They are two lost souls waiting to be found by each other.

I am never disappointed when I buy this author's books! I loved the characters and felt so many emotions as the story took me on a journey with a twist and turn along the way. This was a really good book, and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it. The Brit most definitely belongs on my read again shelf. Highly recommended!

DANNY BLACK. Angel-faced assassin and my one true love. I ate this book up.

Rose is a woman without control. Taken as a teen and forced to play a role she never wanted to play, she gets thrown into Danny’s dark and twisted world. Danny runs Miami, but someone’s coming for him. Rose is meant to take him down, but she can’t help falling for him instead. Danny and Rose are fucked up, and they’re meant for each other. This book is absolutely wild. I couldn’t put it down.

The Brit is the first book in the Unlawful Men Series. Rose Cassidy is a woman who has been abused and used her entire life. In order to protect the only thing that is precious to her, she is willing to do whatever it takes to survive. Danny Black is a ruthless killer who needs to use Rose to get what he wants. What he didn't anticipate is the way she would draw him in and take hold of his heart completely.

"ʏᴏᴜ ᴀʀᴇ ᴀ ᴅᴇᴍᴏɴ, ʀᴏꜱᴇ."
Told in dual POV, The Brit is full of non stop action and suspense. The passion between Rose and Danny is undeniably hot and they are even with all of the baggage they both carry together they make a perfect pair.
"ɪ'ʟʟ ᴏɴʟʏ ᴀꜱᴋ ᴏɴᴄᴇ. ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ ᴍɪɴᴇ?"
Overall, The Brit will appeal to readers who enjoy a broken hero paired with a broken heroine who together find redemption in each other. As always, Jodi Ellen Malpas has crafted a world with complex characters and an intricate plot. I look forward to more of the Unlawful Men to come!

A heroine that has a backbone and goes toe to toe with the hero’s bullshit it’s exactly what I need for a perfect mafia book.

What bothered me was how Rose, knowing how capable of everything Danny was, decided to keep her secret allegiance until it was too late 🤦🏼‍♀️
And also how out of control Danny got manhandling Rose in some scenes at the beginning.

I wish the last chapter didn’t exist, I would have been much happier to find a different ending than normal where the MCs don’t get a happy ending 🤷🏼‍♀️

*4.25* This dark romance isn't as dark as a Godwin or Cole read, but it still had some very dark elements. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed these two deeply damaged characters. JEM did an excellent job with the H background and motivation.

It takes a gentle writer's hand to create a character who is so deeply covered so that the she can survive a life of being owned by someone, and yet keep her soft enough to be likable and relatable. Rose's background is somewhat vague, but we know she's a self-proclaimed whore. She's at the mercy of a man called Knox, he sends her on missions to collect information on the men she seduces. It's a cold existence, but he has something he holds over her, so she will do whatever he asks. When she meets Danny, I was thrilled for her! It's master manipulator meets master manipulator. I was impatiently waiting for one of them to break for the other.

Danny isn't a gentle man, but he recognizes himself in Rose and she intrigues him. I really loved his character development! What he learns about himself and his family over the course of the novel shapes him in such a careful way.
“I’m more like a knight in rusty, tarnished armor.”
Despite all my gushing about the writing, I did take some issue with two important pieces of the story. Overall, I really enjoyed listening to the story, it held my attention, I liked the character growth and development just wished the ending had been longer. Does have a hea.

Shane East and Vanessa Edwin are fabulous narrators, highly recommend the audiobook!

SPOILER-FREE REVIEW

‘I didn’t earn the name Angel-faced Assassin because I give good fucking hugs. And if they don’t know that, they’ve got no idea what’s coming.’

When we read the synopsis and trigger warning on The Brit by Jodi Ellen Malpas we knew we had to read it! Anything mafia, dark romance that comes with warnings is our jam! We also heard that this is nothing like the books we’ve read before by this much-loved author. So of course we dived straight in and wow, we have to say we fell in book love immediately. We could not put this book down for love nor money. It was sexy, it had great character depth and dynamic and the storyline was compelling. If you love dark romance, strong and fierce heroines and ruthless obsessed anti-heroes then The Brit definitely needs to be on your to-read list. The chemistry between Danny Black and Rose Lillian Cassidy was potent, the sexual tension on fire and the angst, palpable.

“I want to fucking kill you.” He brings his face down, closer, allowing me to see the murder etched across it.
“Then kill me,” I breathe. “And make it slow and painful.”
“What the hell are you?” He’s completely stunned.
“I’m a heartbeat….I’m nothing, Danny Black. And you are God.”

The Brit is fast-paced and if you’re like us you’ll literally inhale it and not come up for air until you turn the last page. It’s certainly gritty, tense and dark, but we hereby dare Jodi Ellen Malpas to go even further on the mafia and cold anti-hero aspect. She can -without question- do this as Danny was luscious in every fucked up way and the suspenseful and thrilling storyline; just perfection. Dare we say out loud that Danny is our new favourite Malpas hero? Honestly, he was to die for! And as for Rose, what can we say other than hands down our new favourite heroine from this Author. The way in which she was written felt fresh and new from Jodi and there was no repetition nor living in her head. She was fabulous and we loved her.

‘No one has ever protected me before. I don’t want to like it. Liking something makes it more painful when you no longer have it, and protection isn’t something I can keep.’

We want more like this from Jodi Ellen Malpas because she nailed it, our only gripe was that there was no epilogue and it just kind of ended quite abruptly. We fully believe in the perfection and value a great epi brings to the reader and also we’re just greedy like that! As for the twists, we never saw a few of them coming which we loved! What a brilliant new direction this Author has taken.

“I’m sorry if I’ve ever hurt you.”
“I’m sorry for letting you.”

2 stars because I like the prologues for both MC's.
After that the whole thing went downhill for me.
HIGHLY repetitive thoughts and both Danny and Rose got on my nerves with their stupidity.
Apparently they both have trouble with using logic in any of their thoughts or lives.

Yes, the sex scenes are steamy, but the story was boring and I felt like a freaking ping pong ball with all the back and forth of both mc's. They drove me nuts.

Only a couple of editing errors and nothing serious. But the story sucked.

Just two chapters in and it’s already hands the darkest book I’ve read, written by Jodi Ellen Malpas.
Danny is utterly spellbinding. The perfect alpha male…dangerous, sharp, stunning beautiful to look at, possessive…did I mention dangerous?
The Brit was such an unexpected book and I devoured it. This was such a dark romance and so not a cookie cutter romance.

DNF @ 6%. No rating.

This is a big no for me. Prologue started off promising but then I quickly realized 20 pages in things were going downhill fast. The writing is awful. The hero is supposed to be this jaded, cold, ruthless 30-year old adopted Mafia heir from England, but he sounds like he's 15 and his accent only shows up when he says "arse". There's not a British bone in this man's body, even as a 10 year old orphan living on the streets of England. It's like the author wasn't even trying. The heroine has a rough backstory as well however she's busy being the mistress of a married man getting pounded from behind on the regular and faking her orgasms. She's undercover from what little I read up to but she seems to be enjoying the luxury life and pouting prettily and talking like an airhead which really confused me. So I skimmed ahead to see if it was worth hanging in there which I usually do if I'm not sure about a book and this lovely little scene at 60% cinched it for me:
“I was just . . .” She thumbs over her shoulder to the door she just came from. She doesn’t want to say it. She doesn’t want to tell me that her pussy was another man’s for a while. What, does she think I’ll give a shit? Stupid woman. “I was coming to find you.” She smiles coyly.

I see Rose’s stance noticeably straighten. “You’re a few minutes too late,” she says, walking away, leaving Amber staring at her back. “He used this whore instead.” Her arms go up in the air above her head, her index fingers on each hand pointing down to herself like flashing arrows. “I’d like to say you missed out on something special”—Rose glances over her shoulder as she reaches the end of the corridor—“but I’d be lying.”

Fuck me, hold me back before I throw her over the gallery landing. I leave Amber where she is, looking bewildered, and stalk after the woman who I think I could take the greatest ever pleasure in killing.

O_o

In case you are wondering Rose is the heroine, the other woman Amber is the hero's bootycall/mafia prostitute/side piece who gets passed around by the guys. I'm sure there's more to it but how everyone acts alone is just laughable. The writing and dialogue is awful and I'm not gonna sit through dark wild shit if the writing can't even hold it up. All the characters sound like they are stuck in high school. Hard pass.

Absolutely devoured and loved it. Possibly my favorite read ever by this author.

Good God, hello Danny "The Brit" Black! What a ruthless, intriguing, and sexy AF hero. This book hooked me from the prologue. A ten-year-old Danny is alone and on the streets, under the care of an abusive step-father. He meets the coldblooded gangster, Carlo Black, who immediately took him in. Fast forward to years later and Carlo is on his deathbed and Danny is in line to take over the operation.

Do yourself a favor and listen to the audio. Holy sexy AF narrator that did Danny's narration.

This was my first Jodi Ellen Malpas book and it DEFINITELY WILL NOT be my last.

—dark romance
—first in series
—enemies to lovers
—THE ENDING OMG
—check TW before starting please

I picked this up because I thought, well why not, I’m in the mood for a darker romance and THEN BAM. I started page one and then couldn’t stop until I finished. It was addictive, the chemistry between the MCs was everything, the dual POV was a great way to keep me interested, and the whirlwind of emotions had me turning page after page.

If you’re looking for an addictive read, that’s dark, has lots of tension and chemistry, The Brit is a must add to your TBR.

BUT PLEASE CHECK TW FIRST.

** One of my Top 20 of 2021 Picks on www.JeevesReads.com! **

Oh. My. God. This book is just... wow. You're either going to really love it or really hate it; there is ZERO in between with this one. And while there are things in here that should've tanked this romance for me, there was no stopping my love of this book. It's just twist after dark and delicious twist; a completely, unquestionably unpredictable ride from start to finish. This is the kind of book where every page is important, because there is just SO MUCH going on, and it's an intricate dance from loathe to love for this couple. The cat and mouse game got to me at times, and this antihero would truly terrify me if I ever met him in person, but... that doesn't mean I didn't love this messy, addictive, and DARK mafia romance.

Normally I'd give some storyline details here, but you don't really want me to do that. Go into this one blind; I did, and I do not regret it. Just know that this is dark and steamy, twisted and messy, with characters who are flawed and broken to their cores. This is not an easy or average kind of love; it's poisonous and often toxic. There are acts of extreme violence punctuated by soft, tender moments of intense intimacy, and the contradictions throughout will keep you on your toes. I never, ever knew what to expect, and that is seriously all part of the fun. If you'd told me the plot and some of the conflicts ahead of time, I would NOT have read this. No question. On paper, there are elements to this story that are a complete turnoff to me, but they somehow didn't do anything to decrease my love for this couple - even if they had me wanted to throw my Kindle sometimes. But fair warning: this is not a love story for everyone. And I think it goes without saying that the storyline is just riddled with TRIGGERS of all kinds.

Are you still with me? Good, because this is well worth a read.

“THE TAMING OF THE SHREW” MIAMI GANGSTER-STYLE

“Never trust anyone. Don’t hesitate to kill. No second chances. ~~ Take no prisoners.”

Well, if this book isn’t a shocker of a violence-laced love story from JEM. In a battle of wills, hate means love. The quotes are hard rules for gangster Danny Black, and The Brit is a Miami version of The Godfather meets Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew”, if Petruchio and Kate were LITERALLY trying to kill each other. Danny’s (30) a powerful mobster’s heir apparent and a killer assassin. Rose (25) is a whore with lots of secrets. She and Danny meet by fate, bad luck, or something else? Each stands to gain from the other over a tricky deal that goes further and further south. Chemistry gets in the way, both resist, and violence does the talking. Winner takes all.

Fingers crossed. Whispered mantra. Breath held. I prayed that Danny Black would not be yet another version of Jesse Ward with thinly veiled cosmetic changes, but he is. “This Man” is unbeatable in its own lane, but JEM’s new heroes deserve their own likenesses. Well, I sort of got my wish. The Brit is a schizophrenic blend of half imitation Jesse and half original badasss gangster. He’s such a paradox in an entertaining, if not always logical, story but still a fascinating trainwreck that held interest.

Danny shares all that defines Jesse:

“How was your date?” ~~ “I had murder for appetizers.”

That said, I REALLY LOVE DANNY BLACK (30). Beautiful and scarred with a killer’s eyes. I could sense him, feel him. His enveloping presence and power was all around me (but I still love Jesse more), and bratty Rose drove me (and Danny) bats. She caused problems for everyone and fizzled my interest in Danny’s obsession with her. Another case of magic “P”, I guess. Their toxic romance dominated and affected everything, but the criminal aspect was the most captivating and complex. Danny needs a mob deal, but he’s got more enemies than he knows, and there are cracks in his perfect setup. Nothing goes right once he connects with Rose. The kaleidoscope of mob complications goes down in the perfect backdrop of Miami.

The romance is insta-lust and insta-love within 5 days, during which the OTT violence and injury went beyond intriguing to pure shock value. The complexity of the plotline, the surprises and many reveals grabbed interest again, but then logic flew out of the window, along with bad proofreading and tons of grammatical errors. Parts of the plot and resolution were ridiculous. Rose ran hot and cold, and barely thought about the one thing that drives her actions, while Danny’s back-story was as fascinating as his instincts for survival.

“She’s bait. That’s all.” Hardly.

I loved a good share of the story, the dialogue, so many quotes, the deep things they said to each other, the action, and some of the teasing romance and Danny’s bedroom magic had me virtually panting. The resolution, though predictable, was the win, but Danny was the real prize (because I never embraced Rose for what she did). He just shouldn’t have any similarity to Jesse.

“I’m sorry for ever hurting you ~~ I’m sorry for letting you.”

I don't know how to rate this, probably between 3 and 3.5🌟
This is pretty new author to me, I think I've read one of her books before but the blurb sounded interesting so I decided to give it a try.
It's a dark mafia romance between Danny aka The Brit who is an assasin and after his father's death becomes the boss and Rose who has secret agenda on her own and kinda gets on his way so he takes her as collateral. Both of them have painfull pasts full of secrets and both of them are hiding things.
I think my main problem was how Danny treated Rose in the beggining, he really humilated her in front of everyone and treated her awfully which she didn't deserve. He was so hot and cold and I couldn't predict his actions. He acted like a horny teenager honestly😂 I liked him a lot more in the second half. Rose was a really good h, I liked her more. For what she endured she was so strong and calm all the time. The ending was a little too predictable and I would liked a longer epilogue. It ended rather abruptly.

4.5 STAR SPOILER-FREE REVIEW

THIS IS HOW YOU WRITE DARK MAFIAAA 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Jodi Ellen Malpas has just written my all time favourite book of hers with The Brit! Goodbye Jesse and Jake. You have NOTHING on Danny Black.

The Brit is SO DIFFERENT from what Jodi usually writes but I am here for this side of her! Her foray into the darkness is welcomed when THIS is the result. I cannot begin to tell you how engrossed and obsessed I was with this story.

We all know that Jodi is a QUEEN when it comes to Alpha males but Danny Black is something else entirely. I loved to hate him and at times I sure hated him but overall I bloody LOVED HIM!
I loved Rose, so much! So many times in Mafia Romances I see heroines that are absolute doormats but Rose, damn, she was FIRE! I loved how she challenged Danny and gave as good as she got! I love them together.

I honestly don't have enough words to express how much I loved this whole book! Like I said, THIS is how a Dark Mafia Romance should be done in my opinion! This is very easily one of my TOP reads of the year so far!

4 STARS

I really loved The Brit. It is dark, suspenseful, and steamy, everything I love in my mafia romances.

I really enjoyed this couple. Danny and Rose had amazing chemistry, and I’m always for a anti-hero who will burn the world down for the heroine.

The plot is great, although no real big surprises in terms of the storyline, the author was able to pop in a few surprise details and characters who did give me some unexpected twists. I did wish some more secondary storylines were wrapped up with more details, BUT this HEA left me completely happy.

There was one particular plot point that I did feel like was brushed over. I was expecting a bigger impact once this secret was reveled and it wasn’t. Did it affect the story, no? But I expected more metaphorical fireworks once it was revealed.

The Brit is a ride from beginning to end. The emotion and turmoil will captivate readers, and the romance that the MCs will burn the world down for was everything.

***TRIGGER WARNINGS - please research before reading
