Relentless Queen

Rate this book
Tragedy struck one fateful night when Aluxis witnessed the brutal murder of her family.

Hidden behind the thin veil of her mirrored safe room, she watched helplessly as masked men ruthlessly took the lives of her loved ones. She was left traumatized, afraid, and alone as she was placed into the system.

Haunted by the image of her family's slaughter and determined to find justice, Aluxis vows to make those responsible pay.

She had it all planned out but the one thing she wasn’t prepared for was them.

Her five foster brothers she thought she had left behind. Cade, Atticus, Harlan, Luician, and Marzin.

As more truths come to light, the more my hunger for vengeance comes. They are no longer the boys I remembered and I’m no longer that same girl. I’m a fucking…

╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'𝐑E𝐋E𝐍T𝐋E𝐒S Q𝐔E𝐄N' Is a dark debut novel by Genevieve Ami Moon. 'Spoken in 'multiple POV's. Past to present presented in some places. Some of the scenes depicted in this book the author has experienced firsthand.

📚“𝐁e c𝐚r𝐞f𝐮l w𝐡o y𝐨u t𝐫u𝐬t”

So I took one look at the cover, read the blurb add dark into the equation and I was sold. I seem to be reading a lot of new authors this year which I'm loving..

This book could’ve done with some thorough editing before sending it to Amazon, was a little bit messy with errors throughout.

'T𝐇E S𝐓O𝐑Y𝐋I𝐍E' Masked men break into her family's home late one night, when hearing the screams of her parents (17 year old Aluxis aka Lux) hides in the safe room in her bedroom (sound proofed with a one way mirror) these men do despicable acts to her parents killing them in the process over a deal her father backed out of. Thus making her a ward of the state at Cherryville Detention Center until she's placed in a more permanent home until she ages out (reaches 18). Here she also befriends a girl named Jo, Cade and another boy were also sent here to keep an eye on her.

She's then placed into a home, and out from under the boys eyes keeping track of her. It's here where she barely makes it out alive.

Another home is then found for her which won't be for long as her eighteenth birthday is nearing. Ok here is where things get cloudy, she's placed with these guys Cade, Atticus, Harlan, Luician, and Marzin, a few house away from her bestie Jo.

And yet again that question rears its ugly head, can you trust them?

So many players unfolded in this book as we wade through the murky waters trying to make sense of the story within. Confusing at times, messy at others, but as I broke it all down there was no denying that I did still enjoy it and I’m invested enough to read the next book in this series because there were so many open, ended equations thrown in.

Twists and turns
Dark and gritty

'𝐓R𝐈G𝐆E𝐑S' This book won’t be to many readers liking due to the subject matter, the author doesn’t hold back, situations aren’t glossed over, they are revealed in vivid detail so be aware of that before you dive in and take that plunge.

I'll defnitely be doing a re-read over this when the next book drops. And yet again be aware of your triggers before jumping into this one. 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

I rated this 4.5 ⭐️s

• Listen, I am so stoked on this book. It pulled me in immediately and didn’t let me go. In a good way. It is very intense.

• Aluxis has a ROUGH start in this story. My chest was tight when the family trauma revealed itself super early on. But she’s a strong chick and she keeps it together the best way she can. The trauma for her continues further on and I was baffled for this poor chick. But, that being said, I absolutely love her. She is a total bada$$ FMC, Then there’s THE GUYS. Each one total their own, can I name my favorite. Nope, I love them all equally. I am a firm believer of pet names and there was absolutely no lack of them in this book. You see big character development/growth with a few of them.

• This book contains SA, and if that’s a trigger for you steer clear. 100% check your trigger warnings. It could definitely make some people uncomfy.

• The CLIFFHANGER has me 😮 I NEED to know what’s going to happen next.

Relentless Queen by Genevieve Ami Moon is a psychological thriller with romance sprinkled in. Wow! So first let me say check your warnings in this book. Genevieve Ami Moon does a fabulous job of making them available in a lot of places so readers can be prepared. This book is definitely worth the read IF you are okay with the TWs.

This was a very dark and twisted book. But that’s what made it special and so intriguing. My heart hurt for the characters and each chapter brought on a range of emotions. The book went back and forth from past to present, as you went deeper into the maze of darkness, betrayal and twisted memories. There are positive steamy scenes and a few others that give you hope among all the darkness. Lux Is the FMC and I can not help but feel she will come out the victor in all of this!

If you enjoy psychological and dark books check this out. Check the TWs and take them seriously! Great job to the author.

triggers!!!

Be wary and read the TWs!

I was confused a lot with all the multiple POVs and how gappy the plot was. I could see how the story wanted to develop, but the pacing was off and the frequent changes in POV really messed up the flow. I’m intrigued with the mystery of it all and need answers especially after that ending.

Relentless Queen is Book 1 in the Queen Trilogy it follows Aluxis (Lux) after witnessing a brutal event she is left traumatised, afraid and alone with the last words she heard “Be careful who you trust” repeating in her head, making a final vow to her parents.
Put in the system Lux is haunted by the visions of that night she is determined to find justice.
Everything was planned, everything except for her five foster brothers.

First and foremost, there are a lot of dark themes in this book be sure to check the TW/CW before diving in. Genevieve has put content warnings on particularly difficult chapters, which shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Wow! What a grand debut! From the first page I was on the edge of my seat, the book is fast paced and at times pretty intense. This book is pretty twisted, I was constantly thinking who can you trust, which kept me intrigued. I love Lux, with all the things she had to go through and experience she still came out as a strong badass FMC. Can I pick a favourite out of the boys, no that I can not, they all bring something to the table and I’m living for it gotta love some MMMMFM.

And seriously the cliffhanger! I am eager to see where book 2 goes from here!
I definitely recommend Relentless Queen to those dark romance readers that are comfortable with heavy triggers.

UPDATE:

With Relentless Queen being one of the first paperbacks I owned when starting my collection to find out it was coming to audiobook and being a sucker for audiobooks I was excited! Freya has done a great job in bringing this dark and twisted romance to life and just made me fall in love with the story all over again! Amazing!

First of all, and I'm very serious about this: know that Relentless Queen is a dark romance. And I mean really dark; make sure you're okay with a lot of stuff before diving into this series or read the triggers first. Big plus is how the author even added some additional warnings when certain chapters turn very black. I'm expecting the possibility of some bad ratings over this in the future, but the author truly did everything to make sure people know what they're in for with this series.

With that out of the way, I have to say "Relentless Queen" is one very twisted series-starter. If you love a series where you have no clue who's bad or good, black or white, and where the difference between both rather seems to be how dark they are on the grey-scale, this is the book for you. I've read plenty of dark romances in my life, with lots of them including an enemies-to-lovers trope, but my stomach wasn't always dealing well with the developments in this book. That doesn't influence my rating though, on the contrary, it means the author did a very good job in writing a dark and taboo storyline. What did result in a four star rating instead of five, is how parts of the story feel a bit juvenile compared to the heaviness of everything else. It might just be the age of our fmc, and how the author still wants to show her as young and a bit naive, but it still bugged me a little while reading.

That being said: this is a debut from a new author, and I'm expecting her writing style to evolve throughout the series. Everything else was done perfectly: this book has an intriguing plot, lots of questions I can't wait to be answered, plenty of spice and a well written dark storyline. I'm looking forward to find out some answers in the next book(s).

If you enjoy dark books then this book is right up your alley. But first you need to check the trigger warnings on this book. It has a lot of extremely graphic scenes that will not be ok for everyone. There are Content Warnings before you get to any of the graphic sections so you can still enjoy the book but skip those chapters. Lux sees the murder of her parents and vows to avenge them. Since she is under 18 she’s take to detention center and has to wait to age out. At the detention center Lux and Jo become fast friends and they have a friendship that’s strong AF. Things at the detention center are rough a big change from her life before. Of course a group of mean girls hate Lux and a group of guys who make her life hell, Cade and Stone say she owns them her life. But why? And who’s this new hottie Atticus? Lux ends up getting placed with a family but they are horrible and do unspeakable things to her. There’s even mystery villain! There are twists and turns and it’s definitely a why choose situation. This story has so many layers, when I got to the end I was screaming I need more! What happens next?!?! Tell me!!! Genevieve you got me good! But I’ll be good and wait patiently for the next one to come out.

This is a dark romance, and be sure to read the trigger warnings before you dive in. I appreciate the author for giving a specific warning before the detailed and very heavy chapters.

This was a twisted book, with so many different angles and it was difficult to understand who is bad and who is good. And I honestly still don’t know, and can’t wait to find out.
It was an interesting and fast paced book, which kept me on my toes the whole way through.
I was a little bit confused in some parts, but I also think the author has a meaning behind it all. And it will develop and become clearer in the next book.

Taboo, dark, reverse harem, foster brothers, traumatic and emotional read. The cliffhanger was brutal, and I can’t wait to see where the story takes us ✨

Relentless Queen is a must read! For a debut novel this author absolutely did her thing. Please please please check the trigger warnings before diving in. If you don’t that’s all on you. Lux has had a difficult life. She’s me @bused and treated like $h!t. People just expect her to take it. Her story broke my heart.
I love the banter with Jo and the guys. That’s was an element that I loved. And the guys were h0t. I can’t choose a favorite just yet. Maybe in the next book.

Received as an ARC.

🖤 Dark romance
🖤 Taboo
🖤 Forbidden
🖤 Foster siblings - MM/MMMMMF
🖤 Forced proximity
🖤 Touch her and 💀
🖤 Shopping list of triggers - Make sure you check before diving in

Ok this one is dark, like pitch black dark. If you’re sensitive to any of the triggers listed at the start of the book I suggest you maybe consider if you want to continue as it’s quite graphic. That being said, I ate this shit up!! It was such a well written and laid out book, I found myself not being able to put it down as I was so desperate to find out what was going to happen next.

I honestly can’t believe this is Genevieve’s debut novel. I’m really excited to see where the rest of this series is going to go.

This is the first book for me by author Genevieve and I loved it. This is a dark romance, and be sure to read the trigger warnings before you dive in. I appreciate the author for giving a specific warning before the detailed and very heavy chapters cause many people may not accept certain things while reading. I found the book intriguing and fast-paced. It kept me on my toes, but I was a bit confused at times. I believe the author has a purpose behind it all and she knows what she doing and I'm here for it, I like feeling all types of emotions when reading and this book does that. I look forward to the next book for clarity on some of the questions I have, or the reason so much is happening to the FMC. Taboo, dark, reverse harem, foster brothers, traumatic and emotional read. The cliffhanger was brutal, and I can’t wait to see where the story takes us.

I received this book as an ARC. my opinions are my own. no spoilers will be given.
i was hooked from the beginning. reminder: check your trigger warnings. The chapters that are super triggering, have a page dedicated to it before the chapter begins to warn the reader. your mental health matters so please be cautious. this book was amazing, and despite the fact that it was based off real life experiences, the flow and the way the book was written was great! i read this book in less than a day. i was so enthralled i didn’t even realize i was near the end until i hit the last page and was stunned! i wont post any spoilers but this book definitely earned the covenant 5 star review!!!

This was a masterpiece for a debut novel. This is a dark romance with plenty of triggers. The author lists them so be forewarned. I love dark romance and where I initially thought it was just kinda morally grey characters I am leaning on the they are on the darker side of morally grey. Lux the fmc has had it rough! Rough is putting it mildly. I felt for her so much through the book. The guys you meet are all unique and fitting in their own ways. I can't pick a favorite yet. There is banter, pet names, enemies to lovers, suspense, growth within the characters and spice! This is a fast paced read. That cliffhanger though! I definitely can't wait to read book 2!

Thank you to the author Genevieve for the ARC for a honest review.

Wow is all I have to say. I will start by saying this genre is NOT one I usually read. I was intrigued when I read what it was about. From the beginning, the book had me hooked and I could not stop reading. Every time I thought I kind of understood or could figure out what was happening, another twist, another character, another storyline to add. I was sad to see how fast I read this and knew I would be in for more. I can't wait to see where this story takes our main character and what is in store for her. She had a rough start to life before her 18th birthday but I am hoping all is redeemed for her!

This book was intense from the first chapter! Aluxis witnesses something so traumatizing behind her safety room she's in..then when she's placed into homes. It's the worst kind.. how strong Aluxis is after all her trauma! This book is definitely dark..and it was nice for the author to put a warning page before the worst chapters..although it's not necessary for me! But if you want a book that leaves you guessing who is behind all this violence and insanity, read this book! I can't wait for the next one!

I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t put it down. There were so many things happening and so many twist and turns going on that I was completely focused on this story. It was very confusing at times but the plot is a solid 10/10. I do feel that this story is a bit rushed. The characters all met in foster care, then it seemed that within no time they were together and all in love. I would have liked to see more build up between all the characters personally, but that did not take away from how much I enjoyed this book. I’m hoping with the next books in the series we will have so many more answers because my mind was blown with that cliffhanger at the end.
100% recommend reading this story !!

Omg! I need the next book like right now!!!!!!! It’s dark and twisted. And I mean DARK! But man how I loved it. This is probably one of the best debut books so far. Aluxis really has a messed up life and nothing is working out well for her. It seems everyone is against her. This book has mystery and suspense, not to mention a good amount of spice. Do yourself a favor and read this book if you can get down with all the TW. I do suggest reading those. What a way to start a series Genevieve Ami Moon!

Prepare yourself for heartbreak!

This is not a happy story. At all. There are happy moments sprinkled throughout, but the entire book is heart wrenching and difficult to read. Check your triggers!

Lux is so strong though, and I just get the feeling that she's going to come out of all this even more badass and determined than she already is (and yes, there's a cliffhanger!).

Relentless Queen is a dark story that takes you back and forth through time to slowly reveal a story of brutal betrayal and tragic loss... Moral struggles abound and we're kept guessing right up to the end! There is romantic themes, but this is not a love story! Certain scenes are open door spicy, but only a couple are enjoyable spice, if you get what I'm saying 😅 that one group scene though... 😮‍💨

Read at your own discretion... And if you choose to do so, enjoy 😈

This book is very intense. Loved it, couldn't put it down and it's quite dark.
Trigger warnings are at the beginning and in front of specially harsh chapters that you may skip if needed without losing the storyline.
It has some jumps in the timeline that made me bit confused, also keeping track of all characters, so I recommend you can be totally focused on it to enjoy at its best

I read this in one sitting. It pulls you in right from the beginning and doesn't stop the whole way through! I feel so bad for the fmc. She never gets a break. There are happy moments and then things keep happening to her.
Can't wait for the next book to hopefully get answers!

This is not a joke read triggers before reading please!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️.5 (I do not include NonCon in my spice rating)

The content warnings on this book are not a joke please read them fully before starting! There isn’t a huge amount of consensual spice but gets more towards the end of the book, there is a lot of Non Con. I’m not talking dubious but full blown Non Con.

This story had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The mystery behind it was perfect to draw you back in needing to know what’s going to happen!

Aluxis has been through literal hell and it is very graphic on the page, I love that she wasn’t just pushed on the MMC’s after the first traumatic event though. That she found a best friend and clung to Jo, which I feel made both girls so much stronger!

I am struggling to put into words how much I loved this book it was absolutely beautiful but that cliffhanger killed me. I need more like asap 😩
