This book, written by Mike Venezia, is about Bill Clinton's life and his time in the White House. He was the 42nd President, he won because he seemed to be able to give the voters and the United States a fresh start. This book goes through and talks about his childhood and how he came to be named Bill Clinton. (He took his step-fathers name). All throughout school people said that Clinton seemed to be more grown-up than other kids his age, I believe that's due to what he went through as a child. Even at a young age he liked watching political conventions on the television, and he understood what was going on.
This book goes through his childhood, touching on different things, to college and young adulthood showing us through pictures and text how he came to be the President we knew. He always worked hard to help the poorest and underpaid citizens. Sadly, Clinton was involved in a scandal while he was President, in his second term, which lead to his impeachment in 2001. Everyone had a different view about the scandal but everyone agreed that he did a great job while he was President.

The pictures throughout the book show Clinton all throughout his life, with his family and while he was in office. Hardly ever is he seen without a smile.

Getting to Know the U.S. Presidents by Mike Venezia is my favorite picture book series on the Presidents. These books make history fun with their humorous cartoons and interesting, easy to follow facts. Elementary schools and libraries would be remiss in not purchasing the entire collection.
