Fated Mates

Rate this book
Fate, love, and vengeance intertwine in this DARK fantasy. A half-human, torn between two worlds is destined to love a being from the very community she despises—werewolves. They took everything from her.

When her mate forces her back into their fold, she vows to make him regret dragging her into his world again. But the undeniable pull between them complicates her hatred. And there's a big bad wolf who doesn't care how she feels, she's his, and he's keeping her.

There's also Emmanuel, the Haitian God, that's not a God, who she would dance naked by the fire with every night if only she could choose her destiny.

In this tale of witches, werewolves, deities, vampire and African gods, magic exist, ancient entities awaken, and fate itself is challenged.

i hate when authors think just because it’s paranormal or supernatural that they can ease in sexual assault but you can’t erase the facts. no matter how much you say their biology enjoys it. no matter how much you try to convince the audience it’s because their mates and she’s destined to love him. the character wouldn’t have allowed it either way. she didn’t want to have sex with him or even be with him. but she didn’t have a choice seeing as you had him break her spine just to “mate” (r*pe) her because she was running away from him.

I'm Still Confused

*****Spoilers*****

This book could've been spectacular with the storyline, the characters, and the revelations but as it's written, it's doing too much while also doing not enough. Noir is part human, part which, part wolf living with wolves who hate her because she has witch ancestry. The book opens with her running from her old pack betas who have found her to take her back to the pack that their alpha rules. She's beat up repeatedly, chained, and contained in a cell on pack lands until her mate mates with her. The sexual assault, the physical and verbal abuse, and the uncertainty about whether Noir liked it and without more insight into wolf culture made those parts difficult to get behind. But I was rolling with it thinking that Noir would figure things out. She doesn't and just lets herself be taken advantage of and used in more ways than one once the book ends. I was disappointed too because it would be a really good read. The magic wasn't explained well, the powers of the supernatural weren't described enough, there's danger all the time but scenes take divergent turns until I was lost at times. I've finished the book but still don't get how a manifestation of Noir separated itself from her or how Axel was able to separate from Viggo to become a completely separate being. The vampire mate was revealed super late in the book and just disappears after waking Noir from a coma with a kiss. There just isn't enough explained, the story and characters lacked a certain depth, and at times, I wondered if the author had an idea and just threw it into the story without fully thinking it through. Don't get me wrong, the ideas are great but the hodge podge way they're included means the reader is constantly bouncing from one thing to the next without resolution.

There are punctuation, spelling, and grammatical errors throughout. One of the character's names is misspelled more than once, and the chapters switched perspectives without notice. Overall I think I could've loved this one had it not had so many issues.

bananas

I can always count on her to pull me out of a slump! This book was so good! It took so many twist and turns. I’m still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor. It did leave me with a few questions. And I would love a spin-off! Outstanding

Please don’t ever write in this genre again

I need to purge this story out of my mind. This could have been a good story but all I read and saw were the characters zig zagging through every chapter. Nothing made sense. I’ve never been so confused with anything I ever read before. How could a editor or a publishing company put this through. If your self published, then you need to know deep down in your soul that this isn’t a good book.

read 28pgs then i had to dnf cause i realize the boy who physically and emotionally abused her and tortured her and get off on it m, and admitted that his wolf likes to sexually assaults her….is her mate like what the actual fuck. I had wattpad I’ve read fated mates storylines where fhe alpha wolf is a cunt towards his mate but actually sexually assaulting ? admitting you like it when you have to use force and rape her ? yh its a no for me dawg. Easily the worst thing I’ve read this year and I only read 28pgs.

ok

First of all why would someone be with someone who has emotionally and physically abused you. Broken bones, rape, tied up and held prisoner. This book was all over the place. Liked Noir and Emanuel. Just too much going on.

Fated Mates

Oh gosh, the beginning started off STRONG! It definitely gave you the "Fated Mates" vibes with a lot of enermies-to-lover, but then it took a weird and confusing turn. Noir is mixed with human, wevewolf, and witch! And just say this book EXPLORES all that but in a confusing way. It was just a lot going on, once it hit the middle of the book.

Noir ❤️❤️❤️

When I picked up this book, I didn't expect to be blown away, but that's exactly what happened. From the very first page, nothing went how I thought it would, and I absolutely loved it. This book kept me on my toes and thoroughly entertained the entire way through.

One of the standout characters for me was Noir. She’s such a badass, even though she often acts on impulse. Her unpredictable nature added an extra layer of excitement to the story. I found myself eagerly anticipating her next move, never quite sure what she would do next.

I do have to say, I wish there was more to the book. Just when I was fully immersed in the world and its characters, it ended. And what an ending it was! The final twist shocked me, leaving me hungry for more.

The only downside? I'm not sure if there will be a sequel. I really hope the author continues this journey because I need to know what happens next.

Overall, this book exceeded all my expectations, delivering surprises and thrills at every turn. If you're looking for a read that will keep you guessing, this is definitely one to pick up.

I was hooked from the start—Fated Mates pulled me in with its rich atmosphere, vibrant characters, and the addictive tension at the Vampire Ball. But once they left the ball? It felt like the story threw everything at the reader... and I mean everything.

One moment, the wolf has a wolf. Next, the wolf is talking to us. Then she's flying. Then she's basically Sleeping Beauty reincarnated. Every few pages added a new twist, until it felt less like a journey and more like getting hit by a storm with no warning.

The relationship arc between Viggo and Ifiok felt unearned—more like a checkpoint than an emotional payoff. I couldn’t find the heart in it. Then came the twin pregnancy twist—one child absorbing the other and the surving twin has a voodoo & wolf daddies—and by the time the final line hit with "she fussed," I was sitting there thinking, "Yeah, I fussed too."

Still, there’s something undeniably entertaining about the chaos. If you’re in the mood for a wild, no-holds-barred ride with supernatural drama at every corner, this book delivers. Just don’t expect a slow burn or a tight, focused plot.
Expect everything. Everywhere. All at once.

chile 🤦🏽‍♀️

Started this as a Vella story bought it as a kindle book. Read it to get my money’s worth. This got worse and worse. Character development was nonexistent. Like none of the characters grew up. It turned into a reverse harem in the middle of nowhere. Plot was everywhere and the grammar and errors were often.

Everything that could be thrown into make this interesting, because there was no real plot, was thrown in. Then threw in some wild ish like her wolf spirit and original mate betraying her. They get killed by the wolf who was inside her original mate who is now free and is psychotic because he’s an alpha when logically if he grew up with and inside the boy he would probably have more empathy for him. This turned into a smorgasbord of supernatural creatures. A mysterious antagonist simply named the Entity with no development at all other than the embodiment of darkness and evil. I really want to know who her writer friends are and why they let her publish this like this and didn’t say nothing?

So let’s start with some positives. I absolutely love the cover…not just cause green is my favorite color but I love the representation and just pure artistry. Next I thought the book started out very strong. There were some errors that could easily be fixed with editing but over all nothing crazy. I think the first thing that threw me was Noir, who is half human and wolf with magic powers is abused badly by a wolf who will end up being her fated mate. After that factor I will admit the story/plot just wasn’t very clear. All I can say for certain was Noir wanted to run away but yet she wanted to still be with and help the same wolves that wanted her dead. Then magic some hoe came in and Noir needs to learn a part of her that she didn’t know existed? So i would say flush this story out some more. You have wonderful moments but there is a lot that isn’t explained so it makes it hard as the reader to stay connected to the story and characters. I think you have a great story just needs some more work.

DNF @ 59% - chapter/episode 19

I’m giving 2 stars because the premise had so much potential & the author does have skill/talent. Episode/chapter 14 is a great example of this & good writing within the story. Everything else was meh & the errors didn’t help; I can’t read a story where I’m struggling to keep up with events because of the errors.

I was really determined to finish this book but after the 4th wall chapter/episode with Axel & the assaults on the FMC I said I’m done. If this is labeled as romance, even dark romance it’s not the kind for me. How do you have 3 love interests & only one of them treats you with respect? I get there’s sordid history there between her & the wolf pack & what was done to her parents. It was too much for me personally. Axel took me completely out of the story - being inside his POV was horrendous & you can’t convince me the FMC liked him. I was willing to put up with Viggo despite his abuse of her also but no.

Good book

This book was good. This book had so many action points from the beginning to I hope not the end because because it stopped mid paragraph, but nori axle emmanuel, viggeo all the characters were written very well. Axel was my favorite because he was a gold Getter. He didn't take no mess, he knew what he wanted. He wanted Nori, and he did what he had to do. Even separating from his Wolf, I couldn't stand her protector because she was envious of her when she's supposed to have been teaching and helping her to wield and learn her powers. But she was after Nori's mate. Emmanuel was just the perfect Protector and lover as well, all three of them was an A-team.
Now I have to wonder what happened to Lucian, where does he fit? In this Harlem? The brother.husband's. I think there could be a little bit of closure.
To this story, I don't know, but I loved it anyway. It was really good, very entertaining..

Interesting

As stated above, it is very interesting in the beginning, and a portion of the rising climax was very interesting, then it lost it😭. I think the ending was a bit rushed. Also, the epilogue was so random. If Sis wanted to allude to a sequel, I feel it coulda been done better🙌🏾 If there is a sequel, I'm not interested. It had a lot of potential them just threw it out the window. Kinda felt like the author was done with the story. I will say that the breaking of the 4th wall was a nice surprise, and it was different from most books I've read. I wish there was more of a bike story from her spouses and stuff. Like 60-100 pages more of backstory and plot🙌🏾 Shantel definitely has the potential there, and I look forward to reading some of her other content just not related to this one (as of right now, at least)😉

This book had potential that wasn't delivered. It's so much going on but its unfocused. Scenes were thrown in just cause that added nothing to the storyline. Then, there were events that could've been essential to story that were undeveloped. This book should've been a series allowing for all the side quests, origin stories, bonds, powers that needed to be explained and characters that spawned in randomly to have a place. Instead, characters and subplots are thrown at u from every direction without any rhyme or reason for 280 pages. Then the final wrap up happened so fast I just knew it wasn't over. I promise I said wait, what at least 30 times bcuz wtf is happening.

I don’t even trigger easily

I don’t even trigger easily and this book is four pages from going on my DNF lists.

First, there is no world or character building.

Second, it’s multi POV and nothing tells the reader what POV you’re reading.

Third, and this is what made me stop and write this review…it’s rejected/refused mates. The MMC is actually fighting his fated annnnnd I’m so close to a SA scene I had to put this down. Shantel, the author, ma’am, you need to add a trigger warning page. There’s dark and then there is DARK.

This book was so Good.

I enjoy reading his book it was a fun crazy read that kept me engaged into the story. I wanted the story to be longer because the vampire was left out of the story, I wanted to see where he fitted in the story plus the ending left the reader wanting to know how the family Noir created grew and strength her and the ones around her ,in the story. I would have liked the story to be longer.

interesting

Ok so this is my first time reading this book from this author I found this book to be very interested and a page Turner. I like the fact that she separated the story into episodes almost felt like I was watching a series on Netflix was very entertaining. I can’t wait to find out what happened with Amani in the next installment. Overall, it’s a good read, and I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

ok Read

Ok so I enjoyed the storyline. This was my first time reading this author, but I felt like there was just so much paranormal and folklore thrown in this story that it got to be a little confusing for me. The story was fast paced and I got lost with that also. The best part was how she has the characters interacting with us readers. I will definitely read o the work done by this author.

Surprised

This was a good book I was surprised. I few spelling errors but really no big deal to be honest. But when I tell you I love the main characters down. Plus the surprise character shift. I have never read anything like it. I was actually happy about it. The way the author made us acknowledge noirs childish behavior that we had to put up with so long. Ugh I'm about to get some more books I love when I find independent authors on here. Ugh I'm in love.

Another reviewer said this book was doing to much with doing to much and that’s honestly the truth! I tried reading the kindle Vella and stopped cause I was like this book is doing way much and i have no clue what’s going on! Plus I hated everyone. I thought the book would somehow be different boy was I wrong! It was just as bad. I think If the storyline was cleared up the book would be much better.

wow

Shantel chunked everything into this book. It was a wild read! I felt it got a bit messy in some areas, where things seem to suddenly happen, which meant I had to keep rereading because I thought I had missed something. I did want to know what happened with android guy and Valentina. I also wanted to know what happened between the announced pregnancy and the epilogue. Felt there was a bit missing -Good read.

icky… I couldn’t even finish it

Sorry, I can’t romanticize the sexual assault. You really telling me this man sexually assaulted her as a young woman, verbally and emotionally abused her . Admites his “wolf” liking it. And then you gonna force her to be with him….as if all things resolve.

. Sorry this is just icky. This romanticizes violence. Dark romance isn’t romance …

I wanted to like this, I really did. In the author's note you stated you saw this genre and wanted to write it, but I don't think you understood this genre too well. I will say its well written, something about kept me reading and I'll probably read something else in your catalogue, but this was not it. I cannot root for a mmc that constantly hurts his"fated" mate.

This book has tremendous potential! It needs to be rewritten with a longer development process. The lore is amazing but needs to have its own dedicated chapters. More time could also be spent on world building. Characters would also benefit from vivid descriptions. Overall fast read but the lack of editing made it difficult to get through with full enjoyment.

Scratching my head

I'm gonna have to go back and reread this book, because not only was there alot going on, but I couldn't tell who was who. One minute were talking about Noir and the next it's another female. Noir is bound to Hawkins, and somehow she got 3 other ppl. I'll reread and edit this review

Fated Mates

Axel! Out of everyone else, I like Axel the most. Axel was not up for the bull. For the author first time writing a paranormal novel, it was interesting. I laughed, cried and pissed off at some of the scenes. Can’t say what it is, because I don’t want to ruin it for anyone.

Magic Noir!

What a wild ride! This book was amazing to read, despite a few errors/typos. I hope there is a part 2, if not, then I will trust the author is working that out. Great mix of African folklore, culture, love, and action. AGAIN, I need part 2!!!

TMI

This made absolutely no sense. Pick a storyline and stick to it. Pick a main character and stick to it. No story needs this many unfinished and unnecessary plot points. This did entirely too much and is in critical need of editing.
