“There lies a city of steel, where the exiled live; amid the snow and oak will be a mortal woman alone. Make her an offer – all that her heart desires, Lord of Light and Mirth – for she is with child. A daughter born of flesh and magic. Amara, who breathed life into all that we are, has chosen this child as a vessel of great power…a gift to match a fae king…”
Deirdre was born into violence, but dreamed of adventure. She finds all that and more in Amaraea. Pixies and impossibilities she can hardly fathom – but all of this splendor comes at a price. Darkness stirs along the borders of the Seelie Court. Entire villages have disappeared on the northern outposts, with no word or warning.
I’ve read 83 books so far this year and this book is in my top five favorite for this year. I was so excited for this book that I started it while I was in the middle of reading another series. The story is written well and great world building with the perfect balance of fae realm and modern human realm. Usually I prefer fantasy books to not have any contemporary elements to them BUT my favorite part of this book is when they go to New Orleans because it was described perfectly especially the part about “bet I can tell you where you got them shoes at”. Also, I need some fan art of a certain someone wearing star-shaped sunglasses. I can’t wait for the next book. Im excited to see where this story goes and how it plays out.
By far, my favorite read this year. So addicting, I could not put it down. I love all the characters. And the main character is amazing, and so relatable. This book was so immersive, I literally felt like I was living it while reading. I can not wait for the next book. I'm dying from this cliff hanger!!
This book is amazing. It kind of gives ACOTAR vibes but still unique and leaves you begging for more. Definitely deserves more hype than a lot of other books circling social media right now. No spice, so if that’s a deal breaker it may not be for you. 10/10 in my opinion. Can’t wait for book 2!!
