Blind since a young age, I spent my life as an experiment and test subject. My days were spent in torment.
Until one day…I fought back.
Only to end up a prisoner once again.
Nightmare Penitentiary houses the most dangerous criminals in the supernatural world.
I don’t belong here, but the warden doesn’t give me a choice in the matter when he drops me deep underground, in the middle of an ever-changing maze with no chance of escape.
And while danger lurks around every corner, I find myself taking comfort in the presence of eight dangerous men.
Twin demons as different from each other as night and day. A psychotic mage with a penchant for torture and bloodshed. An unhinged tiger shifter. A protective shadow wolf. A possessive dragon. A flirty cupid. And a sentient labyrinth who may just be the key to our escape.
The world will soon discover I’m more than just a meek, damaged girl. I’m a queen, and if I have to make a throne out of the bones of my enemies…
Then so be it.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Out of The Complete Series includes both Blindly Indicted and Blindly Acquitted, as well as bonus scenes. This is a reverse harem/why choose romance, meaning the FMC will not have to choose between her love interests. While the men are all psychotic killers, they absolutely adore the ground the FMC walks on. There is no bullying or cheating whatsoever. Out of Sight contains strong language, sexual situations, and violence. Please read the trigger warning at the beginning of the book!
The first book is good, we get to know the characters and a lot of stuff happens plot wise. The second part, though, for me it's a hot mess. There are two new mates that I didn't see the point for, we barely get to know them or see a good development with the FMC. One of them has the exact same personality as Rion, even his jokes are the same..he also has the same background as Damien. The other says he is always watching her but only appears in the second book lol. Also, I thought the story was rushed and the death of their enemies was anticlimactic. The ending is cute. Overall, 3 stars.

Just to OTT cliche, torture p0rn it's ridiculous. A friend recommended this. Said it was much sweeter than blurb led readers to believe. Wrong. The dialogue is word soup. Everyone, and I mean everyone has a tortured past. Every guy was r*ped as a child. She was tortured daily by a mysterious organization. The big reveals are all seen a mile away. The prison is a joke. They're supposed to be there because it's the only thing than hold their powers in check. But they basically do whatever they want. One guy turns it into an elegant hotel with room service. Fancy dinner? Done. Ball gowns? Done. And yet they gym equipment is leftover trash? Doesn't make sense. The prison is supposed to suppress their powers yet they can all still use them. The guards don't actually guard anything or anyone. Tropey to the extreme max. So many betrayals and they're all seen coming easily. Even the escape is pure cliche. And they run right to the first place anyone is going to go looking for them. It's one giant facepalm.
The MC has a power no one has seen before. She was abused, kept in a prison, but she knows random things despite never having an education or being away from the prison. The males are all “crazy” and they all act similar, yell, are totally I love with her because she has an inner “light” but it is naive and understands nothing. There are holes in the plot, and the story has irregularities. Dnf at 34%, I just couldn’t take it anymore, especially when Tessa did a 360 and decided to fight her in the “fight club” that was set up to control Their power.
This duet had literally everything I have always wanted in a storyline included within the pages (metaphorical pages of course...you know what I mean). A strong heroine with what some might consider a disability, with a heart of gold. An increasing number of hot, sexy, possessive mates. Super sexy scenes described in such a way that paints such a clear picture that you could almost visualize being there. Drama, comedy (I LOVE Rion's mind, seriously, his insanity mixed with insta love and possessiveness for his mate, but crazy willingness to share with his 'brothers' ~ brother mates? Wtvr ~ his unique way of thinking and ability to add comedic relief whether it's needed or not lol.) Tho they're all my favorites, Kai would be my ultimate favorite, then Rion, but somewhat tied with Bronson due to Bronson's absolute devotion.... Who doesn't want that level of devotion?! Too bad that level of love, possessiveness, devotion with a side of crazy (that doesn't lead to bad things for those involved) doesn't truly exist in our world. *Sigh* The twists and turns, the ups and downs... For once I was on the edge of my seat... Quite literally a few times... You know, when I got a bit too into the story and forgot the real word. I won't spoil the ending ~ moreso because dedicated readers have a hard enough time finding the perfect story that isn't predictable ~ but it has what way too few reverse harem stories have. Please Katie May, for the love of everything, please create more stories like this, especially the end result for hopeless romantics with a dark and crazy side like me. (Yeah, that's right, I'll proudly claim it! If only I could build my own reverse harem of loyal, dedicated, devoted, possessive and slightly crazy men.... Who don't hurt you so badly that you start to wonder if book boyfriends are safer. I support the movement of living within the metaphorical pages!) This will certainly be my one of my top rereads of all-time.
Our FMC may think she’s weak, but don’t let that fool you. Her strength isn’t just physical it’s emotional, mental, and something far deeper. After everything she’s endured, watching her finally reunite with her knight in shining armour is incredibly satisfying, even though the road to get there is painful and messy. Each of the MMCs brings something unique and powerful to the relationship. They all carry dark, complicated pasts, but that shared damage is exactly what makes this harem work so well. I loved getting to know their backstories yes, they’re heartbreaking, but they give each character real depth and purpose. I did wish a few of the MMCs had a little more page time, but overall none of them felt unnecessary or just “there” to fill space. Discovering their supernatural races and abilities was one of the most fun parts of the story. There’s one moment where our FMC does something so wildly out of character that you can’t help but cheer for her it’s powerful, emotional, and perfectly earned. Watching her grow throughout the series is another one of my favourite parts. She starts off sheltered and sometimes hilariously literal, but her development feels genuine and meaningful. While I did feel the ending was a bit rushed and could have used more time to breathe, it was still satisfying overall.
There was a fair amount to like about these books. But also a good amount not to like. A lot of it, especially the second book was very boring. I also think it’s strange that the author chose to have half of her mates be sexually assaulted as little boys by men. And then for her to also have one of her mates constantly hitting on her other straight mate, whom was sexually salted by men. It just felt poor taste, and it irked me the entire time. I also don’t understand at all why she needed eight mates talk about overkill. And I also think that Nick didn’t need to be in the story at all he did not add anything to the story. It was such an afterthought, and I didn’t like him at all as a character.
What’s up with these books and the characters being “lied” to? Does the author even know what lying means? It means telling something that’s not the truth.
The first series I’ve read upon of the author’s is the FMC being hurt for being “lied to”. I wouldn’t call them lies if it’s not told in the first place. Maybe more of a deceit—ONLY if it’s gaslighting—though, how is not telling someone you just met about your personal problems gaslighting??? LIKE what if that person doesn’t trust you with their vulnerability???
Now this duology having the same problem? I’m starting to think the author is traumatized by being “lied to”/“deceived by” OR it’s an ideology that’s been thrown out, thinking that everything is a lie—no matter the valid reasons and why they are held against their knowledge.
The second book or part I should say moved a long at a much faster speed then the first. Nina goes being imprisoned in a Compound to being in an actual prison when she gets set up for murder. Throughout the book, the highlight is on how "good" and "innocent" she is. I wish we had gotten more involvement with all the mates because I feel like only a few of them got a decent amount of "screen time" for us to fall in love with them. All in all I thought it was a great read.
It's an ok story with heavy spicy moments. 6 guys 1 girl in the first half, 8 guys in the 2nd half. Character development was meh, plot was meh, and overall storyline was decent. Spice was probably a 2 for heat, but a lot of it sprinkled in for each character throughout minor plot progression. I liked the mfc, I liked the way she dealt with the traumas of her mates, I just didn't get past "like" at any point. The Mates were mostly meh but had a lot of potential. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't as good as the first few chapters made me think it could be.
I absolutely devoured this duet. I couldn't put it down. This was a solid 4 ⭐️ read for me. It wasn't super spicy, but there is some. I wish some of the storyline would have been explored more, like with The Compound instead of everything surrounding the prison.. so, in that instance, the plot was a little weak. But the humor for me completely made up for it. I would definitely reread this duet.
Blind from a young age, Nina is kept in a cage and prodded and tested. Unknown to Nina she is angel, demon and human. Kai has always been with her till one day they sent him to Nightmare Penitentiary. The worst of the worst go there and live out the sentence or is killed. One day Nina shows up for a crime she didn't make and, in the process, has a total of 8 mates. They decide to take a chance and leave the Penitentiary and make their way thru traps, to get to their destination.
I had reservations about this book but oh my god I was hooked! Loved the FMC she was a bit shy girl but also powerful too. The men are so great! I couldn't pick who was favorite between them.
This was a good book, though I expected more from the MC at the end. She was a bit too soft and sweet; I would have liked to have seen a moment of something else near the end. But still an enjoyable read.
Out of Sight, a duet featuring Blindly Indicted and Blindly Acquitted, is an ebook I borrowed through Kindle Unlimited (KU). I had previously read Blindly Indicted (5 stars), and it was nice to re-read the story before reading book two. Loved the crazy, sociopathic characters. Fun read.
This was a good duet. Each of the guys had a pretty different personality so it kept things interesting. Be prepared for over the topness from all of them. My favorite was probably Rion or Nick.
I adored these books separately, and even more together. I love that little added bonuses. And I enjoy all of the characters and the ending was so very sweet and amazing.
Where the heck is the scene with her and Rion and Dam!?? U can't just hint at it and then leave us hanging like why!!!!! That is the dumbest crap ever. Lost a star because of it
This duet put me through the ringer!! Getting to know all of the characters and their stories was amazing. I would whole heartedly recommend this to my friends.
I absolutely love this series and wish there was more . These characters were some of my favorites. I love the relationship between them all and how crazy they are.
The inclusion of two new mates in the second book felt a little jarring. We spend all of book one focusing on the first five, and then all of a sudden we get two more?
This is soooo over the top which is why i love it 🤣🤣 I think this is a sign to read all of this authors books cause I have already read 3 of them and they were all five stars
