Adrianna Peterson and Cody Carsen were the golden couple in high school until the inevitable happened—high school graduation. Cody gets an offer to play football for his dream college. The only problem is that it's on the other side of the country and Adrianna has her own goals in their little village of Haywood. They follow their dreams, but the universe has other plans for them when their ten-year class reunion is planned and Cody flies back to his hometown.
Now a big shot quarterback for the Los Angeles Sharks with a beautiful woman on his arm wearing a shiny Tiffany engagement ring on her finger. He is far from what Adrianna remembers from high school. Does he even remember her? She has built her dream life in Haywood and it may not seem like much compared to a NFL quarterback. Adrianna couldn't be happier even if she is lonely.

Can they get through this reunion with each other after ten years apart or will their long history bring back the feelings that never left in the first place?

Thank you Alycia for letting me arc read this!

This story concept is cute, and the book has a sweet plot. However-

1. There is a lot of internal dialogue in this book. It feels like you're getting the story secondhand.
2. The spice ratio is lower than I would have expected.
3. If there isn't an editor being used on this book, there needs to be; if there is an editor, they need to be replaced. The misspelling of character names and multiple spelling and grammar mistakes in every chapter drove me absolutely nuts. This made the book feel incomplete and not ready for readers.

Would I recommend it? Sure!

Did you ever have a first love in high school? Did everyone think that you two were perfect together? Well, that’s Cody & Adrianna. He was the football star & she was the book nerd. They were perfect together. But Cody has always dreamed of going pro & playing in the NFL. So Adrianna does the unimaginable! She breaks up with him so he can pursue his dreams.

Ten years later and Cody is questioning his future. The High School reunion comes up and he decides that he and his fiancée, Celeste, are heading to his hometown for a month. This is where our story gets really good!

I loved all of the hometown vibes this book was giving. This book is the perfectly set for your fall time reads as well as a quick beach read. This story was the ideal blend of sweet & spicy. I love the main characters banter, chemistry and interactions. You cannot help but to root them on the whole time. I could not put this book down. I had to see who was going to fall first. Plus there is an awesome playlist with this book that sets you up just right!

This was an ARC read the author sent it to some to read and review for her! It will be released MAY 13th 2024! And I can't wait to buy the physical copy!
This is a second chance, slow burn love story. A country boy and country girl grow up together go separate ways (sadly and regretfully) but they get a second chance at love. I loved Cody! While he pursued a dream he wanted because the girl he loved let him go because she knew he wouldn't have followed them he wasn't happy with the life he built. While Adrianna built a small town life for herself she knew she loved him always.
This story was such a cute, quick, and easy read. Slow burn, when you think it's gonna happen its just a little tease. But the spicy scenes 😍 well worth the slow build up! I can't wait for book 2!!!
Thank you Alycia for allowing me to read it and review hope the review is enough!

If you’re looking for a Hallmark-y, second chance, small town, “It’s always been you” vibe then look no further than “Hometown Routes” !

This spicy, slow burn was a fun read! I really enjoyed it from start to finish.. but then again, Alycia’s books always have a way of pulling me in and not stopping until it’s done.

Adrianna, Cody, and the rest of the characters were really enjoyable & I can’t wait for more!

Adrianna and Cody were high school sweethearts until he left for college and to pursue a career in the NFL while Adrianna stayed behind in their hometown to pursue her own dreams.

What happens next? Well you’ll just have to pick up “Hometown Routes” and see for yourself!

Thank you to the author for the chance to read this advanced copy. This review is left voluntarily.

I loved all of this book truly. The chemistry was perfect and so tasteful, that I fell in love with the main characters so easily. I did utilize the playlist in the front of the book, it was perfect for background music if you need that like I do. The spice is tasteful and lent a great hand to the overall plot.
Plus, this book has a little added fun of an animal sanctuary and I loved the depth that added and just the cuteness of it too! I cannot wait for the rest of this series, Adrianna and Cody's story has me locked in.

"Remembering the little things means you are paying attention and actually listening. You want to know me little things and all."

This was good. There were things that I liked and didn't like. Also, one chapter made me sob, and I mean sob!!

I liked the premise behind it. The girl pushes the boy away, so he goes and lives his dreams. I loved all the animals and how much Adrianna loved them. I loved how much she cared for Sasha and Jose, also how she took Sam under her wing.

I hate being critical especially when it comes to someone's book, but there were things that I did not like:

I found it repetitive. How many times did Cody have to put his hands in front of himself to hide how "excited" he was? Also, he said multiple times how much money he had, and it was enough for his lifetime. Okay, we get it.

There were also a lot of spelling mistakes, names spelled wrong, and wrong words used. I did not let this take away from my rating. It was just something that happened a lot throughout the book.

Also, what happened with Penny the pig? She went from not being able to leave Adrianna's side to completely missing until we see her in another chapter and then nothing. If she was so attached to Adrianna, you'd think she'd be in more of the book.

As I said, it was a good book, and I would still recommend it.

Thank you Alycia for this ARC

Cody and Adrianna are high school sweethearts. They have so much going for them until their dreams start to become reality. It will pull them in different directions and the big question is if they can withstand that. Adrianna chooses to take life into her own hands and send Cody on his way to play football and to go pro.

10 years later at their high school reunion Cody comes back to town qustioning his future. He’s engaged to Celeste and feels like he has it all yet, but he’s still questioning everything he’s doing.

Adrianna has opened an Animal Rescue Bed and Breakfast, and she still lives in town with her pet pig, Penny.

This is a sweet smalltown romance. It was a slow burn that will have you sitting on the end of your chair. Now what fully happens between Adrianna and Cody you may wonder when they run into each other at the reunion you may be asking yourself. Well you’ll just have to read the book and see for yourself!!

I would highly recommend this as your next read!

Hometown Routes follows a familiar storyline but it was enjoyable and engaging. It started strong and I was into it, midway I noticed repetition especially when it came to the characters internal monologue but it had a satisfying ending.

The main and secondary characters had great dynamics. Adrianna and Cody were easy to like. I enjoyed how Cody was able to grow unfortunately I can't say the same for Adrianna.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you for the digital arc. Everything in this review has been written willing fully.

Since I read a proof copy of the book any grammatical errors did not impact the rating.

I got the be on Alycia's arc team and got to read the story between Cody and Adrianna. I usually do not like slow burns, but this one kept me hooked and I could not put it down. I loved getting to see how selfless Adrianna was during the whole book. She was always putting others first which we get to see in the first chapter when she ends her relationship with her high school sweetheart Cody, so he can go on and achieve his dream. During that time, he achieved his dream and ended up as an NFL player after he left his hometown. While Adrianna has built her life around her hometown. Adrianna and Cody finally meet again when their high school ten-year reunion brings them back together in their hometown. It is the perfect amount of spice and romance in this book. I will definitely be purchasing to add to my book collection!

This book is pretty good! This story is interesting since Cody and Adrianna went on their dream so they aren't together. Until 10 years later, there is a reunion in high school when Cody finally sees her and now he is having a hard time to decisions about his life and is engaged with Celeste. ooo tough love and tough choices. It brought them many memories and see from there what happened! The main and secondary characters had great dynamics. Adrianna and Cody were easy to like. one thing is I wish this could have gone less repetitive in the book.

3.5 stars. I wish goodreads would let us to that!
A small town romance filled with tension that when it snaps, will warm your heart.

Adrianna and Cody high school sweethearts, together since kindergarten until one makes a decision that could be the end of them for forever. But the heart doest forget.

Adrianna loves her small town of Haywood, she knows it's where she wants to stay even after graduation. Her boyfriend Cody is the star quarterback of the football team and wants to stay wherever Adrianna is. But Adrianna decides she can't let that happen and breaks up with the love of her life and forces him across the US to California to his dream school for football.

10 years later Cody is a NFL player, and engaged to a model. Adrianna runs a shelter for pets, is a vet, and runs a BNB in her small town of Haywood. It's time for their 10 year high-school reunion but does that mean a possible reunion of their relationship too? Go ahead and grab this book and see what's happen for the month leading up to their high-school reunion between sunflower fields, close proximity of surprise surprise the BnB he's staying at which they surprise surprise own together, and charity events to benefit her animal shelter. Will Cody break off his engagement, and get back the woman he loves or will he go back to California living the rich life?

I really enjoyed Adrianna & Cody's story. Adrianna is an extremely hard worker and a person who just wants to help where she can. Cody though he had it all or well he tried to make himself and everyone else believe it. They both always knew something was missing in their lives but they just shoved that deep down and kept moving forward the only way they new how.. I love how they both realized that they were it for each other... I do wish Cody would have done something a little sooner in the book so you got more time with them as a couple. But over all I really enjoyed it!!

Hometown Routes by Alycia Carosella was one of those quietly perfect reads for me in 2025. It’s sweet, comforting, and full of heart—the kind of story that wraps around you and reminds you why you love romance in the first place.

This book felt like coming home; warm, nostalgic, and deeply satisfying. The characters were easy to fall in love with, the emotions felt real, and the story had that gentle pull that keeps you turning pages just to spend a little more time in its world.

If you love soft romance, heartfelt connections, and stories that linger long after you finish, Hometown Routes is absolutely worth the read. It earned its spot as one of my favorite books of the year.

The love story of Adrianna & Cody was told absolutely beautifully! By far my favorite arc I have ever received and if you have never read an Alycia Carosella book this is absolutely one to start with! I adore the internal dialogue of Adrianna and Cody! A super easy fun read about a second chance small town romance and what good is a successful career without the person you love to enjoy it with! The country feel is such a bonus here and so heartwarming! Even though this book is a slow burn trust me when I say the spice is worth the wait!

This was a very cute second chance romance. It starts with the main characters in high school Adrianna and Cody. They’re the IT couple the perfect couple. But Adrianna breaks up with Cody so he can pursue his football dreams he wouldn’t have done otherwise. She stays in town.

Fast forward to 10 years later and it’s time for a high school reunion. This is where the story heats up. Adrianna and Cody reconnect there.

This was a cute easy quick read. It was sweet and spicy. It had humor and whit in it as well.

Yet another book by Alycia that I found myself not being able to put down :)

It is currently 1 AM as I write this, unable to formulate anything that makes sense in terms of a review because I am exhausted but I genuinely enjoyed these characters so much and wished we got to see a little bit more of their story (potentially in another book).

If you are looking for a quick romance read, full of laughter and an appropriate amount of spice this is the book for you!

Tropes: Second-chance romance, friends to lovers, high school sweethearts, etc.

I 1st want to say that I had the privilege of reading this early due to being on the ARC team! Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity!

Some slow burns slap and others just drag. This one SLAPS!

I love the navigating Adrianna and Cody have to go through throughout the book.

Seeing how their lives ended up between high school and now is very fitting for how they came off at the beginning of the book.

There is some spice flavoring this book and I was all for it!

I highly recommend everyone reads!

The back story and plot were swoon worthy. The small town romance vibe was refreshing. I loved all the side characters, I enjoyed how this story came together. The spice was sensual yet sweet.
Alycia killed it with this one. Can't wait for the rest of the series.

oh my gosh, I had all the feels reading this. Such a slow burn but a sweet second chance romance! I just love Adrianna and Cody. Adrianna was such a loving character, the way she works hard and cares for animals. Cody had my heart. As soon as he saw Adrianna after being apart for so long, having all those feelings and memories come back was just ahhh, it made me smile. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

*3.5 stars.
This was such a feel good romance. Quarter back Cody and animal lover and business woman Adrianna find themselves back in the same small town after ten years apart and a broken heart from high school. Cody comes back for a month to take time from his big life in California, and Adrianna has a whole life built in their hometown.

I loved this.
Spicy meter 4/5 but not really until closer to the end.

This author really did the work. Well written, and super engaging.

I enjoyed this read very much once I was able to get into it. I was rooting for Adrianna and Cody the entire time. Every time Celeste was involved, I just wanted to know when she was leaving and never coming back personally. Overall, this was a really cute second chance romance/slow burn.
For me this would have been 4 stars if there weren't so many spelling or grammar mistakes.

I really enjoyed this book. It was like watching a hallmark movie, where you know what’s going to happen just not how it’s going to happen. I loved the two main characters as well as all the side characters. Living in a small town I could really connect to a lot of things that happened throughout the book.

This book gave me total Hallmark vibes. High school sweethearts going their own way, only to be brought back together for a class reunion. I loved Cody and Adrianna’s story! Many times I caught myself laughing out loud at some of the things happening throughout the story. It was a slow burn but worth it! Can’t wait for the next two books!
