Starblood #1

Sternenblut, Buch 1

Rate this book

Not enjoyable at all

I made it to about the 25% mark It just was a bit of a slog and just wasn't a fun to read. There's pretty much no dialogue because there's only one character which is boring as hell to read. He interacts with a couple of animals but that's about it.

Eventually finds an ancient relic and gets a flashback but even the dialogue of the flashback is very low level and there's all kinds of ridiculous names for a tax use that we have absolutely no reference point for.

I know so there's going to be fanboys who will love this because they love everything and I love that enthusiasm but this is just not good writing it's not a good story.

We are off on a new series. It's in the same universe as the last series, but I don't think that you need to read it to read this one. The last series was set on Earth, this one is in space.
I'm reading the ARC right now looking for flow issues from Russian to English that can be fixed without having to do a rewrite. This means mostly spelling and word choices. I admit I also like finding plot holes. Those don't get fixed. I think I have found a good one early on in this book.
You are possibly on an alien planet, you have just crash landed. The MC has no memory and after checking his reflection in some water strips naked to look over the rest of his body because he didn't recognize the face in the reflection.
Who in their right mind would think stripping naked on an alien planet is a good idea when you don't even know your surroundings!?
Why is he even thinking about giving up the power he got from Guy? He has seen how violent and savage his new world is and he seriously considers making himself weaker. He is either naive or a fool. I'm starting to lean towards fool.

Otherwise the story has been good.
Don't forget that if you find errors you can report them and they will get fixed.

7/10 Lets try not to look like a loon running around naked next time we crash on a planet.

I received a review copy of this book.
Starblood is the first book in this new series about survivors of the catastrophe that befell earth in the Project Stellar series. I haven't finished that series yet (still reading book 5), but this new series is an interesting story indeed. There's little to tie it back to the Project Stellar series at first, until the main character begins getting involved with the natives, and humans of this new world. It all pans out in the end, (well, sort of), but it certainly seems to indicate there's some serious revelations coming in future books of the series. If you liked project stellar, even a little bit, you probably want to add this book to your read shelf.

The initial third dragged badly - just one guy surviving/exploring. Even after others are found, I had trouble caring about anything.

There were some plot issues that gnawed at me. If you found an alien tending his fields, wouldn't you assume sapience? No? Okay. It was also frustrating that, despite knowing of an important betrayal, the protagonist took no action.

I'll be leaving this series here.

There were some things I really liked about this, but overall it felt a bit uneven. The story had a lot of promise, but some parts felt forced. It didn’t quite deliver the emotional impact I was expecting. Still, there were some great lines and memorable moments. Worth reading, but not unforgettable.

I went in with high hopes but came out feeling a bit underwhelmed. The premise was strong, but it felt like it ran out of steam midway through. The pacing was slow, and I struggled to stay engaged. The ending was somewhat predictable, though still enjoyable. It’s okay, but not as exciting as I anticipated.

An absolute delight from start to finish! The characters were so real and relatable that I found myself cheering for them. The plot was clever and kept me turning the pages late into the night. This is storytelling at its finest. I’m already looking forward to reading more from this author.

I appreciated the effort that went into crafting this story, but it didn’t quite resonate with me. The plot had potential, but the execution was lacking. There were too many side plots that distracted from the main narrative. I enjoyed parts of it, but it wasn’t as cohesive as I’d hoped.

prep for future books

Seems like a setup for rest of series. Was good but seems it will lead to better books. A lot of describing the situation and basics of new world and integration to it.

Awesome story, it took a bit before the litrpg elements were added, but I am glad I hung in there. Will definitely be getting the next book.

A fun read

An interesting fusion of technology and magic. The world and its lore had a depth that felt organic and believable.
