Zeta, a freelance programmer, crosses paths with Ash during a night out drinking with friends. Seeking a break from the vibrant scene, they find solace in a quiet corner and begin to form a bond after Zeta introduces Ash to her love for video games. What starts as a connection in the midst of the evening evolves into a one-night stand and they unfortunately lose contact with one another after Ash has to rush out due to a health scare with his father.

Ash is the son of a successful construction company CEO. He has been molded from a very young age to take over the reins from his father and follow in his footsteps despite this being the exact opposite of what he wants to do. When an unexpected event throws him into the role early, he has a chance encounter of meeting the woman he had to walk away from a few months earlier. Only to find out she is pregnant with his child.

I had a few issues with the writing. The descriptions often felt excessive; details about what the characters were wearing were unnecessary and detracted from the story. Rather than focusing on insignificant details, it would have been more effective to use that space to provide background on both the main and supporting characters. For example, in the first chapter many side characters are introduced in conversation but I found myself confused about who they were and their relationship to the main character. The author seemed to prioritize superficial details over crucial information about the characters and their connections.

Surprise pregnancy books are really not my vibe but I went into this book open minded. In my opinion, there could have been a more convincing reason for her to forget to get a damn plan B from the pharmacy other than what was written. Because while she was temporarily indisposed & in a hotel, I felt that there was plenty of time for her to take care of her business. But the pregnancy seemed to be something she wanted anyways so this is something I was able to move past.

There were noticeable inconsistencies in Ash's character development. At the beginning, he is portrayed as a grumpy, work-focused individual, but this persona seems to vanish once he meets Zeta. He quickly shifts into a more submissive role, losing much of his original edge. Additionally, a significant and potentially emotional part of Ash's character arc occurs off the page, which is quite disappointing and feels like a missed opportunity for deeper storytelling.

The pacing of their relationship felt uneven and disjointed. Zeta's demeanor felt hot & cold at times, creating a fluctuating dynamic that was hard to follow. While there were a few charming dates scattered throughout the book, the romance itself failed to truly come alive or captivate me as a reader.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC.

Thank you to Amberjack Publishing for a chance to read an arc of this book! 🖤

3⭐️ Cute but didn't love the conflict resolution. tropes: one night stand, pregnancy, office romance | medium steam | digital

characters
🩶 Zeta is a black programmer vasovagal syndrome. I loved how nerdy she was. She was also an overthinker which I definitely relate to.
🩶 Ash is the son of a CEO. He was so sweet throughout this book! His struggles between what he wants and what his parents want.

favorite bits
🖤 Zeta and Ash's relationship was so sweet and fluffy. Even the angstier bits when they were meeting again and talking it though, they both had a lot of care and chemistry between one another.
🖤 The one night stand pregnancy trope came oftentimes get frustrating but Zeta and Ash handled everything so well.
🖤 There also was a realism factor that I liked in this story. Zeta and Ash had a lot of real life issues they had to solve and think about and it was tough balancing both of their wants.

issues
❌ I found myself frustrated with Zeta a bit in this story because I couldn't figure out what she wanted from Ash. When Ash was being super attentive she didn't like that and it made her feel uncomfortable. But when Ash pulled back, she started doubting his character and became super anxious. I felt like he could never win and that felt unfair to me because I don't feel like Zeta's hot and cold behavior was ever really addressed. Her making Ash feel like she didn't even like him romantically was a big deal but it was brushed over at the end.

final thoughts:
I liked this book! It was cute, fluffy and angsty. I just feel as though not enough time was spent addressing Zeta's character development and issues, only Ash's.

This was absolutely adorable, and I loved it! Zeta and Ash had amazing chemistry that totally gave me butterflies, especially seeing how Ash felt about her and the way he talked about her. They were wonderful together, but they let fear hold them back from confessing their feelings. It was so satisfying when they finally overcame that fear.

This was quite a gentle read. The writing was a little clunky in parts, but overall I found it quite readable and the characters were likable. Their chemistry was good, especially in the beginning, and I thought the sex scenes were sensual and well-written.

However, I thought the pacing was off, the beginning was quite strong but then it went a bit slow and it felt like there was a lot of filler to me. I didn’t really get what was keeping the characters from entering an actual relationship as it was so clear they cared about each other. Then the ending was incredibly blunt and wasn’t very satisfying to me.

Overall though this was quite a gentle and easy read, and I think if you like the tropes this is worth checking out. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a free copy of this book.

Content Notes: Unplanned pregnancy, one night stand, workplace.

I had some difficulty pinning Ash down because it seemed to me that he had schizophrenic behavior at times, otherwise it's a romance that involves a surprise pregnancy, and these kinds of books don't really appeal to me.

Ho avuto qualche difficoltà ad inquadrare Ash, perché mi sembrava che a volte avesse un comportamento schizofrenico, per il resto é un romance che comporta una gravidanza a sorpresa e questo tipo di libri non mi piace molto.

I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

This was fine. I love the pregnancy trope so I liked that aspect (its the reason I picked this book up) Zeta was kind of an idiot but so was Ash so I think they were perfect for each other, they were also both deeply unserious.

One thing I will say is that even though this is dual POV, Ash felt like more of the main protagonist than Zeta. He had an arc, things he needed to confront and over come and I feel like we were in his head more?(idk if we were but it felt like it) Speaking of his arc, the ending felt rushed. The whole book we get the tension between Ash and his dad about his job and when Ash confronts him, WE SEE NOTHING OF IT????? Another thing on Ash, I needed him to gain a backbone. He was kind of pathetic, I know some people find that attractive but it was very off-putting.

Let's get to Zeta, she was a very unserious person. The reservations she had about getting into a relationship with Ash were valid, especially because it was based on past experiences with her previous boyfriend but I needed her it get it together. YOU ARE HAVING A BABY, YOU NEED TO START THINKING ABOUT THE BABY. Zeta kept putting things off throughout the whole book and it was pissing me off. One was the fact that she could not stay in that apartment and raise that baby. Everyone kept asking her where she would put the baby and she would just deflect or say that the baby would get the bedroom and she would sleep in the living room (be serious). Then she did the thing I hate from literally every female protagonist who does this. SHE REFUSED MONEY PEOPLE WERE WILLING TO GIVE HER, TO HELP WITH THE BABY. AND THEN SHE INSISTED ON WORKING TO SAVE UP FOR MATERNITY LEAVE, LIKE I NEED YOU TO BE SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!! Ash literally said he would pay for any and everything and that she could literally just stop working and focus on her health and she said n0???? Just because she didn't know him that well? That would make sense in any other scenario but y'all are having a baby together and Ash wants to be an active part in the baby's life?

Another issue I had with Zeta was her reluctance to get into relationship with Ash and then that not really being confronted or resolved? When they had their fight at the end, there were things they both brought up to each other that were valid issues they had with each other, Ash's being that he felt like Zeta didn't like him and would keep him at a distance while he was ready to basically become a family. But after the fight there was no real resolution to that? Ash had his but Zeta never really confronted HER issues. And then she gets engaged to him at the end?

Anyways long review, short. This was an enjoyable read with kind of infuriating characters. There should be maybe 30? more pages just to get a little more development for Zeta and the ending was way too rushed and resolved too quickly. I would still recommend this book though because I did enjoy it.

Zeta Rodgers Needs to Relax is a romance with a surprise pregnancy, second chances, and disability representation.

Right away I really liked the cover! The only thing that threw me off a bit is that it does make Ash look like he is possibly a vampire or supernatural somehow. However, Pixie does jokingly say he is a vampire at one point so I thought that was funny.

I enjoyed the plot a lot. I thought Zeta and Ash were both interesting characters and liked that we got to see their quirks and flaws. Ash was my favourite character and I thought the author did such a great job with showing how dedicated he was to Zeta, while also giving her struggles and character development outside of his relationship. There were times were the timeline or writing skips around in a not clear way. I feel like this story is really good, but could have benefited from maybe a bit more editing or advanced reader feedback.

One little thing I absolutely loved was that it mentions that Zeta changed her name at one point. She points out that Ash never asked what it was before and he basically says he doesn’t need to know, since this is her name. I thought this was going to lead to her old name being brought up and revealed, but it didn’t. I really appreciated that!

Overall I did really enjoy the book and would absolutely read more from this author.

When I read the description of this book I just had to read it. However, I found this book hard to get into. Let start off by saying I like the plot a lot. I just didn’t care too much for either character. I couldn’t connect with either of them. This is a me thing and not an author thing. I might have read it at the wrong time or something. I do feel there a lot of people that will enjoy this book.

I love the secret baby thorp!

I’ll just say this one wasn’t for me. However, don’t let me stop you from reading your next great read

The story/plot was cute, simple, maybe too simple. Finished out at 299 pages and still could’ve been shorter. The FMC was grating at times, but not unbearably so. There were lot of little syntax errors, like typos, missing words, and wrong pronouns. There were so many unnecessary sex scenes. It all seemed unrealistic. For example, morning breath apparently doesn’t exist in this book.
While I don’t really know who this book is for, there is potential here. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone but I’m not opposed to checking out what the author puts out next, maybe with a better editor.

ARC REVIEW📖 potential spoilers!

Zeta Rogers is a freelance programmer who needs to take things slowly. She has a condition that causes her to faint after a traumatic brain injury she had a child, and so she takes things really calmly and slowly in her life.

She is happy where she is, with amazing friends, a good freelance schedule going, and a calm, happy life.

Then, she meets Ash. Ash is a soon-to-be CEO of his family’s construction company, and his life is anything but calm. He and Zeta hit it off the first time they meet, and have a one night stand. And what do ya know? Zeta gets pregnant. But on the night they slept together, Ash left in a hurry because his father had a medical emergency, and didn’t get any of Zeta’s info.

While he’s putting out fires at the company, Zeta is trying to keep her head on straight and process that she’s having a baby. She takes a new, more intense feel and job because she needs to money, but when she goes in to meet with the CEO of the company, guess who it is, None other than Ashford.

She faints, there’s a whole lot of commotion because she has to go to the hospital and get checked so she and the baby are fine. And then she and Ash basically have to start “dating” from scratch when she’s already 4 months pregnant.

There’s drama with Ash’s family, but that’s kind of a secondary plot line, the main one in the pregnancy and their romance.

Overall, I enjoyed! It wasn’t the most memorable book I’ve ever read, but it was fun! I think the romance was cute, and Ash was a really sweet boyfriend to Zeta, and didn’t run away from being a Dad, and was actually super excited to be having a baby.

My only issues were:
- pacing. It felt like they were dragging out their “dating” period of time even though they obviously liked each other, simply because they were scared of what other people would think. Which i know is realistic but is also kind of annoying to read?

- she calls him “puppy.” and not in a bdsm pet play way. in a completely unironic pet name way that is incredibly awkward and cringey (to me! others might not be bothered by this!) he also calls her “kitten” which is a little less weird bc she was wearing a cat shirt/outfit when they met so i can see where that comes from, but puppy was OUT OF THE BLUE.

- Zeta was so unwilling to accept help to the point that at times it seemed like she was pushing Ash out of her life and didn’t even want him helping with the baby when he was so clearly excited and down to do anything for her and the baby to be safe, even if she didn’t want to date him because he always told her she didn’t have to date him he just wanted to be in her life and the baby’s.

Like I said, not a bad book at all. A solid 3 star read for me with those above issues being the reason I knocked off two stars. I liked the writing and I thought the characters were cute and funny! It was nice to see anxiety rep in the MMC because normally we only see that in the FMC in contemporary romance!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review

This was a really cute book, that I'm really glad I picked up! That being said, there were a few things that didn't work for me, so let's get into both elements!

This sounded like a really interesting book that combined the accidental pregnancy trope with a sort of second chance romance, and that idea sounded like it could be done really well! And this book definitely delivered on those tropes. You get to watch Zeta spend this one great night with Ash, and then find out a few months later that she's pregnant. When a chance encounter leads the two of them to find each other again after that night, I really loved how Ash was so excited at the idea that this child of theirs could help be the thing that brought them together in a long term way.

However, while watching the relationship evolve between these two was a lot of fun, honestly, there were two things that kept me a little detatched. The first thing was the pacing. There were some odd time jumps between scenes, and while eventually I figured out that more time had passed than I expected, the evolution of the characters or the relationship never quite developed in the time span that passed the way I expected. I also found that the relationship development wasn't very linear, in the sense that while they were always phsycially comfortable with one another, that growth of a deeper emotional connection dragged on a bit more than I'd have liked. There also were some inconsistencies with Ash's character that had me questioning what it was about Zeta that seemingly changed the way he acted, to the point where his personality seemed completely different at certain points in the book.

So while this book isn't a favorite, because of the elements listed above, I do still think it was cute and charming. I liked Ash's devotion to Zeta. I liked seeing Zeta stand her ground and want to see this relationship develop before commiting to anything serious. I loved how both of them were so excited for their child and how the pregnancy was highlighted. I also really appreciated how Zeta's condition was a focal part of the story, while not being used for shock value at any point. There really were some great aspects to this book that made me keep reading, and for those reasons, I gave this book 3.5 stars.

Zeta Rodgers Needs to Relax was a sweet contemporary romance sprinkled with humour and tenderness. There was a realness to the challenges faced by the characters, from Zeta’s condition to Ash’s family struggles. Moon was able to write it in a way that felt raw, unafraid to address more serious topics.

Although I liked the relationship between the two main characters, it was a little ‘insta-lovey’. Truthfully, I don’t always mind insta-love and believe it can be done well, but in this case, it didn’t work for me. At the start of the novel our male MC, Ash, was cold and reserved (and at times kind of rude), yet this changed as soon as he saw Zeta. Within minutes of meeting her, he was warm and kind (plus blushing like crazy), and while I liked his new personality better, it was jarring. They were still cute as heck, and I was kicking my feet and squealing, but it did take me out of the story.

I also felt like the conflict in the first half of the novel could’ve been easily solved with open communication. On the other hand, the conflict at the end was resolved too quickly (I need some gooood grovelling). In saying that, this was still super cute, I love me a cinnamon-roll love interest, and Ash perfectly fit that role. If you’re looking for something short and sweet to pass the time with, I recommend giving this a try!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this e-book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC

This book had me invested and had so much potential. I love any sort of second chance romances - even if its sort of a meet again after a few months - and I'm a sucker for a golden retriever mmc however, I felt like there wasnt enough payoff here.
Ash was so vulnerable, and hesitant, and awkward in his personal life which was in conplete contrast to his working persona mostly I believe because he didnt care what his father thought of his personal life vs how his father was all over his professional life.
Zeta's attitude was very much, everything was a problem for future Zeta. While we kind of saw Ash's two worlds collide, we never saw future Zeta deal with anything she put off, except dishes and the whole not getting Plan B (I mean, I guess you can say the whole book was future Zeta dealing with something she put off but she never seemed to learn from it.)

I wanted to see less if Zeta's hot and cold towards Ash and more of her warming to him, less pushing him away.

There was a ton of detail to this book and you can tell the author got lost in the world she created. While I loved the descriptions of their homes and apartments becaus they helled flesh out the characters, I could have used less details to every outfit but overall it was a nice read.

SPOILERS TO FOLLOW

This was a really cute story. I loved how infatuated Ash was with Zeta from the very beginning. I thought that they were really good together too. He was attentive and a great listener and she was too. They both could sense when something was upsetting the other person and would always try to help make them feel comfortable again. It was a very nice dynamic. The epilogue confused the HELL out of me though. I think it should have said like 2 years later or something instead of just saying "Epilogue" because showing Zeta in the hospital with a baby and then saying that Epsilon (their daughter) was already walking and learning to talk made me feel like I'd missed something but nope! The epilogue was from two years later when they were having their second kid. Anyways, the last like fifty pages or so felt so rushed like the author was trying to finish the story really quickly all of a sudden. I don't even know who Scott is (the person who took over being CEO after Ash??) and we never got closure over Ash's family truly accepting Zeta. I didn't even get to see Ash meet any of Zeta's friends and Zeta never even got to meet Brandon who is Ash's best friend. Anyways, it was still really cute and I enjoyed reading it!

Zeta Rodgers Needs to Relax by Elanna Moon is a vibe! Zeta is this totally badass Black freelance programmer who’s low-key dealing with vasovagal syndrome and navigating her stress with computer games and an unapologetic attitude. Enter Ash, this CEO-in-training with a whole lotta family drama, a high-stress job, and a serious case of feeling trapped. Their steamy one-night stand? Turns out they’re gonna be working together, and Zeta's pregnant! Classic rom-com setup, but with some real depth.

The chemistry between Zeta and Ash? Unstoppable. Seriously, the way Ash talks about Zeta? Heart-eyes all around. I loved how Ash’s character was so layered, dedicated to Zeta but also trying to figure himself out, especially with his intense family issues. Zeta was also a great character who really grew throughout the story. She wasn’t just defined by her relationship with Ash, which I loved.

The plot kept me engaged, though sometimes the timeline and the writing could’ve used a little more clarity. A few moments felt like they skipped ahead without explanation, which threw me off a bit.
Overall, I totally recommend this if you're into romance with strong, complex characters and a slow-burn, trust-building relationship. I can’t wait to see what Elanna Moon writes next!

Zeta Rodgers Needs To Relax is as unputdownable as a pint of Ben & Jerry’s. It’s a feel-good romance that will have readers kicking their feet in delight.

I cannot overstress how much I loved the characters. As one whose disability also forces me to work from home, I was able to relate to Zeta immediately. I also love how she is relentlessly true to herself, from her whimsical outfits, gamer collection, insistence on taking care of herself to never being afraid to set boundaries. I love how she has a fun and supportive friend group, and her Aunt Josie is so much fun.

The hero, Ash, is a sexy cinnamon roll hero who respects Zeta’s boundaries, takes care of her every need, and will do anything to please her. Rather than a meet-cute, it was a meet-perfect. They clicked immediately and adorably, with a healthy dose of he-falls-first.

After a night together that was as steamy as it was endearing, there was the most delightful spin on the surprise baby trope. The circumstances of their reuniting had me giggling with glee, and Ash’s handling of the situation and lovestruck ways had me sighing with bliss.

Fans of Talia Hibbert’s Brown Sisters Series are guaranteed to love this cute and spicy romance!

This was one of my favorite reads of 2024. I loved watching Ash and Zeta make their way back to one another, they are both strong, and quirky and real. Like Ash needing to lie down on the kitchen floor when he's overwhelmed. The great thing is that the author didn't info dump this, she dropped little tidbits throughout the story that this is something he does. His friends and family know about it, and you learn about it very organically. I love that! There is a scene showing Zeta not wanting Ash to come into her apartment because it was a mess, I can relate to that. But then Ash comes in and - cleans her apartment for her! Talk about sexy!
Ash is just so into Zeta, no holds barred. It was so wonderful to watch how he made her his priority. Zeta is more standoffish, understandably so. But they are still making it work and figuring out the baby stuff. When Zeta found out she was pregnant, she thought about abortion, that is realistic.
The only thing Ash is really holding back, is his reluctance to take over as CEO of his family business. My only major critique is that part of the storyline is handled pretty quickly, I would have liked a little more of the conversation between Ash and his father.
Otherwise, 5- Stars. I will reread this and looking forward top more books from this author!

Ok. I’m not really sure how I feel about this book. Like it was well written and it was a good story, but I guess I just had a hard time connecting with it. Maybe it was just the FMC. She was truly insufferable, like I would not want to be in relationship with her, it feels like all she does is take but never give back. I’m all for men worshipping women in relationships, but I do believe the woman should at least give him something in return, kindness, a listening ear, love, something. And I feel like Zeta gave nothing, she seemed very self-centered and stoic and I think that’s why I struggled to connect with her. She was more concerned with what others thought and how things looked but yet made it seem like he was the one obsessed with what his parents thought. Like girl you told him not to get you a gift because your friend thought it was weird. And I don’t think she ever apologized for any of the things she did to Ash. I don’t think she deserved Ash at all. I think he could have done better and I rarely say that about men. Like yes, I want a man who yearns, but it’s no fun when it’s not reciprocated. I’ll definitely read another book from this author, but I hope her next FMC is easier to connect with. She’s a great writer though and I hope she keeps writing.

Zeta Rodgers Needs to Relax by Elanna Moon is an engagingly sweet surprise pregnancy story with disability representation. Out with friends, Zeta Rogers steps away for some fresh air and runs into a handsome man named Ash. They fall into easy conversation and their personalities are cutely compatible. Their chemistry is undeniable and instantaneous, but they part without exchanging contact information. Separately, they suffer time consuming and unfortunate events and when the air clears, Ash realizes that he would like nothing more than to pursue his feelings for Zeta and Zeta realizes that she is pregnant! Will this beleaguered pair be able to reconnect and overcome the obstacles in their path? Ash is the ultimate "cinnamon roll" hero; I absolutely loved how he shows his care and devotion to Zeta. Zeta is quirky and kind with strength and resolve. Both characters demonstrated growth and development as their story unfolded. Ms. Moon has created awesome characters, and I would gladly revisit them again. Sequel, anyone?

I would like to thank Edelweiss and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts expressed are my personal opinion.

Score: 3/5

Usually I’d never pick up an accidental pregnancy romance but this story was super cute. It had adorable characters to root for, a lovely romance, and plenty of quotes to tab.

My main issue was with pacing. The jump between timelines was so jarring it impacted the relationship development of the main characters. There were plenty of vulnerable moments I wished we had the time to see (such as Ash’s root of anxiety? His childhood upbringing? How about Zeta’s upbringing? How did that impact how she sees love and family now?)

The last part of the book was resolved and moved on too quickly in my opinion too.

Do I recommend? I think its a cute read to consider if on sale or gifted.

Surprise pregnancy is always so hit or miss to me, often more miss than hit, but this book actually made it really cute! Zeta and Ash truly made me fall in love with them. Their moments together constantly made my heart clench from the cuteness overload. The conflict actually felt relatable and more realistic than it usually is in a romance novel this adorable and fluffy. That being said, there are some issues. Zeta and Ash’s individual emotional development felt rushed and/or underdeveloped at some points, especially towards the end, and Zeta sometimes confused me about what she really wanted and felt. And it seems like this book could use another round of editing, or went through too much of the wrong editing (if that makes sense to anyone else lol). Somehow though, none of these technical issues really took from my enjoyment of the story. The feels of this book were just too potent not to enjoy it. If anyone sees me suddenly start giggling and kicking my feet, don’t mind me, I’m probably just thinking about Zeta and Ash 🥰

First, thanks to Independent Publishers Group | Amberjack Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this. book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I came into this book with really high hopes, but I ended up a bit disappointed!

But let's start with the positives:
I love books with representation, and this book had plenty, especially on the spectrums of race and disability.
As a woman computer scientist, I love books with FMCs in STEM!
The book was a quick and cozy read, and perfect for a cold autumn weekend!
The book title is extremely interesting (and on point), and the cover art is very pretty!

However, I found the flow of the book to be a bit stilted. I felt that maybe some information was held back with the intent of creating intrigue, like Zeta's medical history and her original name, but it left me wondering if I was missing something (the medical history thing gets revealed a few chapters in, the original name felt like it could be a plot point, but it was never persued or resolved).
The switches in POV between Zeta and Ash were often confusing and had me reread paragraphs to figure out what was happening.
The characters didn't feel mature given their ages and their respective work positions.
I also didn't like the way that Zeta in particular treated Ash - it felt like he couldn't win whether he was showing her affection or giving her space.
But I also couldn't figure out how Ash's gentle character mixed up with his grumpy, tough boss persona and his dominant bed partner attitude. I'm not saying that these characteristics don't exist together, but they didn't feel that they belonged to the same person on page.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't dissuade anyone from reading this book. It's fun, cute, and quick. Just set your expectations so you don't leave disappointed!

Thank you #NetGalley for this advanced copy. I absolutely enjoyed this book so much! I was immediately invested in Zeta and Ash and their relationship. I loved their conversation on the deck and really liked how the author took her time with them getting to know each other that first evening because it also allowed the reader to get to know the characters better. Throughout the story, I felt happy, nervous, excited and frustrated with them every step of the way. Their relationship was sweet and romantic and imperfect. Their misunderstandings from lack of communication seemed authentic in that they really didn’t know each other very well. My one criticism is that the ending felt a tad rushed but overall was happy with the HEA ending. Looking forward to reading more from the talented writer. Highly recommend!

Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for the DRC! All opinions are my own.

This started off so cute!! But ultimately the ending was too rushed for my tastes. Usually, recent romance titles go on for too long, but Zeta and Ash went from trying to work on things to speeding by his family issues and being together. Then the story skips to Zeta having her second kid, leaving me feeling robbed of actually seeing how good they could cohabitate and handle a child.

I loved the set up and the back and forth between the two and felt chemistry but it seemed to fizzle out around the time Ash introduces Zeta to his family. Which sucks because his issues with his dad are a huge part of the story but we don't fully address them outside of the dad changing and becoming whipped for grandkids.

Overall, I have a soft spot for Zeta and Ash in my memories and will wish for more of their story.

📖 I received a gifted e-book ARC. The following is my honest review✍🏻

Zeta Rodgers Needs to Relax
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Zeta Rodgers Needs to Relax is a dual POV surprise pregnancy romance. Zeta and Ash meet one night and spend the night together, but circumstances keep them apart and unable to contact one another for 4 months. During that time Zeta learns that she is pregnant and when she reconnects with Ash they have to decide how to proceed as essentially strangers AND a family all at once.

This one was cute! I felt like the ending was rushed, but the story was enjoyable. I liked that Zeta was determined to figure out who they were to each other outside of the pregnancy, and that Ash was willing to meet her on her terms.

This may very much be a case of it's-not-you-it's-me. I don't know that there's anything bad about this book, but it just doesn't do anything for me. The author clearly likes shoujo-type stories (even using the term bishounen in this story). I think this reads semi like an adult shoujo light novel. Maybe. Again, I don't know. Something about it just doesn't feel right to me, and I feel like there is probably an audience for this style of writing that, well, isn't me.

If the blurb of the book + shoujo-type novel sounds appealing to you, I do suggest trying it out, because there's nothing horrendously bad about this book or anything. I just can't get into it.

I enjoyed this book. I ended up buying the physical copy because it was so cute. I found it to be a very quick read.
Zeta is fresh out of a relationship and hanging out at a bar one night and meets Ash.
Ash is the next in line to take over his father's company and hanging out with his friend at the bar.
Pixie and Randell at the best friends to Ash and Zeta are okay. They don't add much. I found Zeta's aunt and Ash's sister enjoyable.
Ash really wanted to do the right thing by Zeta from the beginning.
I understand some of Zeta's trepidation and even the bad advice from friends but she could have been a little more proactive about her future

Otherwise I enjoyed this book. It was a fun read.

I enjoyed it for what it was. But I couldn't help but feel Ash was just TOO good to be true. Zeta was the one filled with the flaws and because of that she came off annoying when Ash was literally perfect.
Zeta was avoidant, my way or highway, and told her friends way too much.
Ash was people pleasing, quiet, and way too willing to bend.

If you turn off your reality meter and read this knowing that no man would ever be this dreamy about this situation its a good time. And I had a good time even though my expression was this most of the time : description

This was a really good surprise pregnancy moment. Each character was super layered and I loved the chemistry between them. I adored how they interacted and their softness towards each other had me melting from the start. The pacing got a bit off around 75%, it felt like things were rushed and I wished that we got to see a lot of the "confrontations" be flushed out some more. The epilogue was adorable and I just loved these two together, I think they balanced each other out so well I couldn't get enough!!!
