21st Century Blue - Being a Bear in the Modern World
Updated 2013 Edition. There are a lot of books about Rangers fans; this one is FOR them. It looks at the last three decades on and off the field, with a humorous eye cast over the strange world of Scottish football. The book deals with a whole host of subjects concerning Rangers, including what it was like to grow up during the Souness Revolution, the club's traditions, the growth of fan culture and the changing relationship between footballers and fans, and the role of the Scottish media in the life of the club. The author has been media spokesman for the largest independent Rangers supporters' club for five years and has accumulated a wealth of stories and anecdotes which are revealed in this irreverent, funny and often thought-provoking volume. Many of the subjects have never been commented on by a dyed-in-the wool supporter. Over the years much has been written about Rangers and their fans, but very little of it for fans and by them.
The supporters have been poked, prodded, jostled and jeered. They've been encouraged to pay up and shut up. But there's more to the life of a Rangers supporter than that and that is what this book is for. It is the story of a young man and his love for his club. It tells of some of the extraordinary situations he has found himself in over the last decade following the 'Gers and it will, hopefully, give the reader a better idea of what it is to be a Teddy Bear these days. Although being a Rangers fan has been difficult, it has also been fantastic. The spirit of the support, the humour, the history...it's special. And it all comes across in this book: by a fan, for the fans.

As it says, a book for Rangers fans by a Rangers' fan. David Edgar uses the same use of humor and storytelling that listeners of Heart and Hand Podcast will be used to. An essential book for any fan who supported the club from the late 80s onwards, particular relevant if you were growing up during this time as a young fan.

Very enjoyable read which has it all, fun, sorrow, highs, lows, toil and the truth behind the smoke and mirrors of Rangers the time. Also gives you a good understanding of the RST, what they achieved and tried their best to change in those times is highly commendable tbh.I would definitely recommend this to any Rangers fans out there as well worth a read if you haven't already.
