WELCOME TO OZ

Russet Ames had escaped! As the plane flew over the Australian countryside, Rusty felt no regret at having left behind the glittering New York world of modeling. She was looking forward to a quieter pace, a tranquil life in the land of koala bears and kangaroos.

But what Rusty hadn't counted on was family friend and outback tour guide, Daniel Marlin, meeting her at the airport. After sweeping her up in his arms with what he deemed "a proper hello," the devilish Aussie proceeded to show the fiery city girl how to follow the yellow brick road--to love.

I'm the author of seventy-something novels, including romance, women's fiction and mystery. When We Were Sisters debuted in June 2016, a stand alone novel about two foster sisters traveling back into their past together. I loved writing it and love the cover my publisher chose.

I'm also excited about my recent series, Goddesses Anonymous, which started with One Mountain Away and was followed by Somewhere Between Luck and Trust. The third book in the series, A River Too Wide, came out in July 2014. The Color of Light debuted in August 2015. Will there be more? We'll see.

I'm also putting up my newly edited romance backlist and love re-reading and updating them a bit.

Last year my husband and I moved from Virginia, to Osprey, Florida, the state where both of us were raised, met, and married. In the summer we live in Chautauqua, New York. I'm a quilter, knitter, kayaker, and the mother of four children, whom I regard as my greatest creative endeavors. And now there are four wonderful grandchildren to spoil.

I have come across a mixed bag when reading Emilie Richards, some of them are really amazing with a lot of depth and brilliant settings & then we have this which had a great setting alas the same can't be said of the romance and characters. This felt like one of those really old school romances where you knew the hero is being all mean & silent coz he secretly loves you. And honestly when I first started out reading romances when I was 14 I might have enjoyed them for the novelty but now I really don't. The hero is a jerk throughout who gives heroine the rude treatment and I am supposed to believe he loves her? Booho he had to see his city bred mother work herself to death to fit in with his father, why does he think history will repeat itself with the heroine? Emilie Richards has written so much better!

TITLE/AUTHOR: OUTBACK NIGHTS by Emilie Richards
RATING: 4/B
GENRE/PUB DATE/# OF PGS: Romance/1987/183 pgs
SERIES/STAND ALONE: Stand Alone
TIME/PLACE: 1980's/Adelaide, South Australia
CHARACTERS: Russet Ames/Model; Daniel Martin/Outback Tour Guide
FIRST LINES: If you'll move a little to the left, I can make a clean dive out that window.

COMMENTS: Rusty is a model from NYC that wants out. She has a cousin in Australia she's never met and decides to spend some time in Adelaide visiting. Her cousin Alan and his friend Daniel are tour guides in the Outback. Rusty and Daniel seem to be opposites and not have much in common. The manager of the tour company wants family/married men as guides and Daniel's job may be at risk. Rusty poses as his wife to secure his position. Light fun romance w/ nice tour of the outback.
