ALMOST PARADISE — Nicholas Chandler III, alias Cole Channing, had come to Hawaii to be alone, to avoid publicity from a scandalous trial. The last thing he'd expected to find was a lovely mermaid trespassing on his private beach.

But he quickly discovered that Toby Fielding was no mermaid. She was the flesh-and-blood manager of the Aikane Hotel, and she soon had Cole completely involved with the guests and her own family. She also had him head over heels in love. But before he could even think of sharing his life and his future with her, he had to be sure he still had a future...

I'm the author of seventy-something novels, including romance, women's fiction and mystery. When We Were Sisters debuted in June 2016, a stand alone novel about two foster sisters traveling back into their past together. I loved writing it and love the cover my publisher chose.

I'm also excited about my recent series, Goddesses Anonymous, which started with One Mountain Away and was followed by Somewhere Between Luck and Trust. The third book in the series, A River Too Wide, came out in July 2014. The Color of Light debuted in August 2015. Will there be more? We'll see.

I'm also putting up my newly edited romance backlist and love re-reading and updating them a bit.

Last year my husband and I moved from Virginia, to Osprey, Florida, the state where both of us were raised, met, and married. In the summer we live in Chautauqua, New York. I'm a quilter, knitter, kayaker, and the mother of four children, whom I regard as my greatest creative endeavors. And now there are four wonderful grandchildren to spoil.

Toby Fielding has come to Oahu, Hawaii, to take care of her younger half-brother and half-sister that she never knew about until recently after the death of her bigamist father and his other wife. She’s also managing the Aikane Hotel. Cole Channing has come to Hawaii to get away from publicity. He was tried for the murder of his wife (of which he is innocent) but he wasn’t convicted due to a hung jury. He thinks in a retrial he will surely be convicted of murder. He meets Toby and the more they are together the closer they become, but Cole is keeping his secret from her and holds back from her because he fears he has no future.

This was a lovely romance set in beautiful Hawaii with appealing lead characters. I liked Toby’s optimism about everything and how it began to rub off on Cole. The secondary characters added to the enjoyment of the story as well, including the kids--Skates and Lani; also the staff and the residents at the Aikane Hotel; and I quite liked Fredo--the taxi driver in Boston, even though he only appeared in a few pages in the book. A really cute and sweet story with a great setting.
