this was such an interesting project to experience. i love the conversation that is happening between the words and the photographs. i think putting them right next to each other physically was the perfect choice. it’s a short book, but that only means that every line has more value. there were times where it was easy to sit with the poems and simply think about them in the context of the photos. i especially loved the photos with “epidemic” and “reformation” bc i think they actually altered the way i thought about the poems. i read several of these poems in their earliest forms, so it’s amazing to see the way they’ve changed and grown. overall, i’d say the book has such a strong sense of theme: it’s one of solitude and intimacy and sometimes even desolation, but it’s not always lonely, i mean how could it be when it’s so full of artistic expression and cooperation? it’s a beautiful collaborative feat, both artists did phenomenal, cannot wait to see what they do next!!
