Ponder, if you will...
* Has anyone ever seen a live Cornish game hen?
* Why do quarterbacks say "Hut"?
* Why do "sea" gulls congregate in parking lots of shopping centers?
* What does the "Q" in Q-Tips stand for?
Pop culture guru David Feldman demystifies these questions and much more in Are Lobsters Ambidextrous? Part of the Imponderables® series—the unchallenged source of answers to civilization's everyday mysteries—and charmingly illustrated by Kassie Schwan, this book provides you with information that encyclopedias, dictionaries, and almanacs just don't have. And think about it, where else are you going to find out what happens to the caffeine left over from making decaffeinated coffee?
He holds a bachelor's degree in literature from Grinnell College, and a master's degree in popular culture from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. He consults and lectures on the media. He lives in New York City.
David Feldman has taken all of those 'I wonder' questions and turned them into very conspicuous 'Aha' answers. He leaves no stone unturned to get to the core of the elusive 'Deer in the headlights' or 'Why seagulls congregate in mall parking lots' quandary. Using colorful phrasing and proven fact, Mr. Feldman keeps his readers wanting more and having to ask less... a total win/win! Are Lobsters Ambidextrous? is an enjoyable read for the weekend or a welcome break during your daily commute. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has ever asked "Why..."! 4 stars
Mildly interesting. Imponderables (questions) come from a wide variety of topics and are presented randomly. Some questions are answered in a paragraph, others in two or more pages, seemingly without rhyme or reason. Almost all of the answers are more superficial than I would have liked, and the author makes it clear that he doesn't think readers are smart enough to understand the details. Or is it that he isn't bright enough, himself? I was left feeling that I hadn't learned very much.
