A World of Houses #1

A Dance of Lies and Lust

Rate this book
She will be their ruin

Sofie wants revenge. Revenge on a world where women are seen as less. Where girls are bought, sold, or taken by force. But mostly, she wants revenge for the pain her mother endured and the scars still covering her mother's body.

He dreams of death

Kill knows there’s only one way out of this life - death. There is no hope of a better future, not even a spark of hope left to keep him going. But magic keeps him bound to life. Caught in suffering and pain, he dreams of the day darkness will take him away.

He wants to rule

Wrath will do anything to keep his family safe—his sister, his nieces, and the men he calls brothers. Ripped from his family as a child, and discarded on the streets a few years later, he will kill, steal, and betray anyone standing in his way. Nothing will stop him from taking the power from those who took him.

Three fates.

One city.

The world will burn at their feet, but can anything be built from their dance of lies and lust?

Please Note: This book is the first in a trilogy, and ends on a cliffhanger. See inside the book or check my website for the content list.

Okay, this was good. So good.
Freaking Sofie is a badass fmc. Loved how she was the possessive, protective, and dominant one.
She's out for revenge for her mom and herself and she won't stop until each man is checked off her list.
What she doesn't expected is to save a person she originally stabbed. And most of all didn't expect the feelings she felt for him.
Killian, I really liked his character.
He's been through A LOT.
But tell my dark romantic heart LOVED Wrath 😅 I wanted more of him, but I already know we'll get that in book 2 after that cliffhanger!!
Can't wait to continue this.
This reminded me a bit of TOG, to an extent.
There's action, spice, and more action.
There's a lot a lot of triggers throughout this, please check those.

I received an ARC of this book, all opinions are my own.

Oh my, oh my. Where to even start? This book takes you on a journey from beginning to end from the very start. Absolutely love Sofie’s character. The plot, the world building, the world ruining. All favs.
The way this book pulls you in & makes you never want to stop reading is amazing. The way the author was able to write in such a way that had me feeling most of the same feelings as the FMC is just astonishing. I mean from the anger to the lust, to the gratification. Absolutely amazing.

10/10 definitely recommend. It does have a long list of trigger warnings so I also recommend checking those before diving in.

*your mental health matters. Please read the full list of Tropes and Triggers in the preface before starting this book*

I personally LOVED book 1. Im a huge stan for feminine rage and revenge, and Sofie ABSOLUTELY delivers. Im not gonna lie, i didn't read the full trigger list before starting, and maybe I should have, but regardless, Tea delivers the good, the bad, and the ugly with so much grace and mindfulness that I genuinely appreciate.

Sofie is a leather wearing, knife wielding bad a$$. She is out on a mission, trained by her step father Bran* to exact revenge on the men of the House of Horn who held her mother captive for 10 years.
Along the way we meet Killian Jones, or Kill, who is Bound to the Lord of the House Air.
Later, we come face to face with Wrath, who is on a mission to exact revenge himself, on the House which has kept his sister afraid for her and her daughters lives for years.

Book 1 was over way too soon for me, and I had to immediately start book 2 after that cliffhanger!
I hope you love Teas World as much as I do, and I can't wait for book 3 in July!

*Please read the Prequel to get to know this amazing Shadow Daddy 😍

Tropes: multiple partners, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, found family and more!

Triggers: 18+ Violence, 18+ Torture, Abuse (including sexual), self harm, implied self unaliving attempt, and more.

A Dance of lies and lust by Tea Spangsberg

This adult romantasy does not sugarcoat anything ! It is intended for 18+ readers and all I can say is that you need to check the trigger warnings on this one as it is rough !

This is book one in a trilogy and the cliffhanger has me wanting to read the next one straight away 🙈

We follow three main characters in this book.
The main female character gives me celeana sardothian vibes but way more dominant in her relationships and bi. Sofie is a 25 year old assassin looking for revenge over those who hurt her mother.
And then we have two main male characters introduced through the book ( I won’t introduce you too them here as I will try to keep it spoiler free 😉)

I loved how rough this book is in the sense that absolutely nothing is sugarcoated or behind closed doors. I really enjoyed the plot, the writing and the fact that we follow three different characters and get to know their reasoning behind their actions.

Tropes for this trilogy :
- Multiple lovers
- Polyamory
- Forced Proximity
- Enemies to lovers
- Found family
- Revenge

Main Couple in the trilogy:
M/M/F

Pairings throughout trilogy :
- M/F
- F/F
- M/M
- M/M/F

Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Holy Moly! Okay where do I begin with this book?! This book is full of revenge, smut, violence, torture, abuse, and found family. It kept me on my toes from the very begging. This fantasy book is 100% a romantasy book through and through. Sofie is a badass mother fer. She knows how to fight and will NOT stop for any thing until she gets what she wants. Kill… Kill is omg 🥰😍🤤 I’m so heart broken for him. He’s been through a lot, but still is stupid strong and man, is he swoon worthy. Warth, Warth is sexy af and I need more of him!

The ending tho…. 😩😭🤬 I DID NOT want it to end. It sure ended on a cliff hanger and I NEED… I must have more!! I’m pretty sure I said a few choice words out loud when I got to the ending. I CANNOT wait for book 2!! ♥️

10/10 would recommend if you love action, romantasy books! This one was * Chefs kiss *

2.5 stars

The beginning was good and interesting, and I could have loved this, but there are too many things bothering me. I felt like the plot wasn't really there. We go from a barely explained objective that Sophie must absolutely Reach to suddenly having several side quests and she doesn't seem in a hurry to act on her revenge anymore.
The relationships felt very superficial and I can't understand how he fell in love and when she decided she wanted him "forever". I only saw insta lust, and with every character she's been interested in.
Sophie is the main character yet we know next to nothing about her past, her personality except for this supposed rage she seems to be able to put on pause regularly.

Still, some moments with Killian were good to read.

So grateful to be apart of the ARC team for the third book so I’m doing my homework and catching up and I’m so glad I was picked!

This book has such a strong and dominant lead female which typically isn’t common for most of the books I read. However, I loved every piece that is Sofie! Her drive for revenge, her possessiveness, and her personality in general is spectacular!

Kill and Wrath are something else entirely, the complete opposites which just makes it so much more interesting! I didn’t get enough of Wrath in this book, and I’m already looking forward to starting book two because theres definitely going to be more Wrath content, especially with that cliffhanger!
Kill has been through so much and I can’t wait to see more of his development because as much as I love him, he needs more of a backbone!

The world building is smooth and easy to follow along which is always a good thing for fantasy books. It did take a few chapters to really catch my attention until I was reading nonstop, but I just get a little antsy with setting the scenes and establishing backstories.

Overall I do give it 5 stars though, the writing was wonderful, the characters are phenomenally written, the story picks up pretty quick after the first couple chapters, and gosh it just gets you so invested you need to find out how it ends! I will advise that those trigger warnings are there for a reason and absolutely pay attention to those, but I highly recommend giving this series a try if possible!

This is my honest review.

Storyline. 5/5⭐️
Characters. 5/5⭐️
🌶️. 5/5⭐️

Oh wow, I really enjoyed book1. The story flows smoothly, writing style is easy to follow. The whole world building is great too.

Characters are well written. Sofie is such a badass! What a strong FMC! Wanting revenge for what was done to her mother and stopping at nothing to reach her goal. Her character isn’t irritating either.
Kill is such a damaged man, beautifully damaged being pulled all directions with his emotions. Let’s see how he evolves, I hope he gets more of a backbone in following books.
Wrath is really a person who had to make sacrifices he didn’t want to reach where is is now. Interesting to read how his character will evolve too.
All other characters in this book play such a great pivotal part in whole. They all complement each other.

🌶️ is there and covers all bases, even who does who, be it MM FF etc. Be advised for some ‘disturbing’ scenes tho since some give a graphic description when it comes to non consensus. Esp Jackson scenes. Advising to read those trigger warnings.

All in all it’s a great read that kept me going, I even started book 2 already before I reminded myself I still needed to write my review🫣🤣
So yes, definitely recommend putting this on your TBR list. World building, character building, 🌶️, writing style is great!

This book is dark deliciousness wrapped in a deceptively pretty pastel package. I absolutely loved it—I devoured it in one go because there was just no way I could put it down.

The story follows three main characters, each unforgettable in their own way.

First, there’s Sofie—a total badass, unhinged, dominant, boss-level FMC. I’ve got a full-on girl crush on her, no doubt. She’s possessive, protective, and hell-bent on revenge for what happened to her mother—and to herself. She’s fierce, and she’s determined to get what she wants.

Then there’s Killian (aka Kill), who enters the story by getting stabbed and saved by Sofie. He’s a sweetheart who’s had a rough, brutal life, and I was so happy he found Sofie—even if their journey was anything but easy.

And then there’s Wrath—ohh, that man. Total shadow daddy vibes. He’s an asshole, but in the best way. 😈

What I loved most is that this book doesn’t sugarcoat anything. It gets dark, and it doesn’t hold back. The plot? Gripping. The writing? So good. The worldbuilding? Absolutely fascinating.

And that ending?? Nearly took me out.

Luckily, I had the next book ready to go, because there’s no way I could’ve waited to see what happens next. 😅

Thank you Tea for the opportunity to read this amazing book! <3

This book follows three characters: Sophie, who's out for revenge against those who wronged her and her mom; Killian, who's stuck in a life he hates, bound by magic with no way out; and Wrath, who was torn from his family and is now doing everything he can to take back the power from those who took him.

OMG, I LOVED this book! Everything about it was amazing. The best part? Sophie, the strong, dominating FMC. She's incredible, and her ruthless way of dealing with enemies reminds me of Lana Myers but even more intense. My inner dominating woman is so happy! And her obsession with Killian—ahhh! If you love possessive, obsessed male main characters, Sophie is the perfect female version. The story was great, the plot was perfect, but the ending—ugh! Now I have to wait for the second book!😭

Ummm ok SOPHIE IS A BADASS 🖤🔥 !!!!!!

Ok ok let’s reel it back lol 🤣 Jumped right into book one after finishing the prequel and WOW! Sophie is on the hunt… for every man who ever traumatized her mother. The intense feelings of revenge and rage are portrayed perfectly throughout.

There are also two interesting men in this book also — Killian and Wrath. I love them both in their dark, mysterious, and tragic ways. Lies and Lust is told from all three POVs and THAT is my favorite!!! I love getting the story from multiple angles (and the smut too!!!) I really look forward to reading more of this series. A dominant fmc is absolutely to die for!!! I think it may be my new favorite!

Please read all trigger warnings. There are some intense situations, violence, torture, & a generous helping of smut. This is the first book of the series and it ends in a cliffhanger (an OMG one too lol 😂) So make sure you’re prepared! You won’t regret picking up this series! I’ll be adding it to my recommendations list for certain!

🌶️🌶️🌶️

Tropes:
Dominant FMC
Enemies to lovers
Touch him and 💀
Revenge
BDSM and aftercare

There were so many things to this book that actually surprised me. First an actual dominant FMC. Are you kidding me? You want a strong FMC, Sofie is IT!

Sofie is not your damsel that just so happens to know her way around a sword, she's trained and ruthless and she can actually get sh1t done. It's a breath of fresh air even if she is a little twisted. Driven by revenge, Sofie travels to Midnight City and soon finds that she is avenging not only herself, but others suffering at the hands of her transgressors.

While we don't see a whole lot of spice in this book(the little bit there is is spicin🔥), Sofie likes to play! Her deviant and slightly sadistic personality comes out a bit in these scenes but she doesn't forget her aftercare and takes care of who she claims as hers. The book does end on a cliffhanger so I'll bet there is more to come in book 2~

If you’re looking for a book with a strong female lead getting her revenge on those that wronged her mother, while also having some spice and romance this book is for you. Sometimes I’m not a fan of multiple POVs because it can get confusing however this author did an excellent job setting this book up. I loved reading from Sofie, Kill, and Wrath’s POV. It was very interesting seeing how their stories all collided. I also loveeee that Sofie is such a bada**, it’s always refreshing having a strong, dominant female character. I’m very interested to see where these books go romance wise, it’s not exactly a love triangle but I’m hoping it moves more that way, I can see where Kill fulfills Sofie dominate side and Wrath could fulfill her submissive side. Also always a fan of a female assassin getting her revenge and putting men in their place. This book was addictive and I couldn’t put it down.

Finally, a strong female lead that actually stays true to her character throughout the book. She is full of revenge and still focuses on her goal even if she helps others along the way. She is calculating, ruthless, dominant. Ugh, love Sofie.

The plot always continued throughout the book at a really good pace and was easy to follow along. I couldn’t stop reading and couldn’t put it down, I always wanted to know what happened next. The cliffhanger at the end was soooo good and I’m eager to read book 2. The tension between Sofie and Kill was so good! I gave four stars just because I wish we had more background about the houses. I felt like that was missing.

I highly recommend if you want a strong female lead that kicks ass, and stays as a strong female character. And a book full of action and suspense. This book delivers it ❤️

How far would you go to avenge your mother? Is there a too far, or a too much?

In book 1 of the World of Houses Triligy Tea Spangsberg takes us on Sophie's revenge journey where she is bound and determined to make every single man pay for every single scar her mother bears. She will stop at nothing to get her revenge, until she realizes that there is a bigger picture, more at stake and the list of wrongs that she will right keeps growing. This is a dark brutal romance and not for everyone but if you love revenge, morally grey woman and fierce fighting for what you belive in then this is a must read!!!!

Ok whew! I just need to say that little Sophie grew UP to be a monster…. And I am HERE for it! And yes there is sadism/masochism and this is a DARK ROMANCE. Don’t like that? Don’t read it.

Sophie/Twisted- I will topple every man who ever harmed my mother. My life is in the balance, but these two men can help me possibly?

Wrath- oooooh she’s very twisted…. Cannibalism of one’s own balls, and she’s powerful and full of secrets? I love her. Kill loves me, so he will fall in line.

Kill- she’s a sadist and I’m drooling again, can I have her AND Wrath? What exactly is Twisted’s agenda?? Can she help us rule the world???

There is a LOT at stake for these 3 murderous powerful misfits trying to topple the whole world off its axis!!!!! And I’m so glad I can simply pick up book 2!

Look, I love a bad ass fmc. Especially one who is out to make men who hurt her mother suffer.
That’s exactly what Lucy has set out to do and along the way, she builds connections she never meant to build.
The thing with connection, it changes how you see everything around you and impacts the choices you make. That’s exactly what happens when Kill and Wrath come into her life. Things get complicated.
The writing is brilliant and the story had me sucked in from the very start.
We were told there was a cliffhanger and boy was there. Can’t wait to pick up book 2!

I received an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

This is probably one of the *darkest* books I have had the pleasure of reading! I love that the toughest characters is the FMC, Sofie. I love that she is in charge within her relationships, takes care of her own problems and protects those she cares about. I appreciate the seriousness around consent in various ways as well. I finished the first book and immediately picked up the second because I just had to know what the cliffhanger meant!

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Fun, engaging, with an angry FMC I absolutely adore! The worldbuilding is giving Ketterdam, and I think if you want an even darker, more feminism-forward Six of Crows, this is for you. I like the magic system and I'm curious about the romance- I think I know where we're headed, and I can't wait to see how we get there. At times, the pacing felt a little off for me, but I expect the series to improve as it goes on and I will be reading the others very soon.

And maybe feeling a little ill at times, Trigger Warnings Should Be Read and Given Due Consideration Dear Readers!

The passion, the power, the fight within this FMC to see justice done, ***chefs kiss***

With found family, murder and mayhem you're in for a wonderful ride.

The cliffhanger will have you praising and cursing this amazing author and begging for Book 2 to be completed.

This book is a weird mix between Game of Thrones and Throne of Glass in the best ways. The FMC is a dirty talking bad a** giving major Aelin vibes.

It has major insta love with one of our MMCs. And I may be hoping for a throuple situation in the next book! Wrath feeds my love for dark romance.

The only reason I’m not giving this 5⭐️s is that I feel like certain situations were rushed. Time would also jump several weeks within the same paragraph which left me confused at times.

I am reading books 1 and 2 in this series in preparation for book 3, that I have been given an ARC for. I had a good time. there was good plot and good pace. A little disjointed in some areas. The last like three chapters felt disconnected. We went from leaving a party to walking into a trap and there was no indication of what happened in-between, and I felt a bit lost. hopefully the next book addresses this!
Excited to continue in the series.

This book had me squirming, gasping and always wanting more!
Sofie is a bad ass bitch, and quite frankly she scares the shit outta me… but in a hot crazy kinda way.
Kill is a sweet, broken man, who needs to find his way.
Wrath… well, he’s just Wrath.

I read this in preparation for the third installment ARC.

I like the premise of the book, and the storyline. The world building and character development is good.

There are quite a few grammatical and spelling errors, enough to notice, but not enough to ruin the read.
