A good read

I really empathasized with Kera in this book. Life dealt her a hard hand with her father gone from the picture and her not knowing why and having to deal with her mother who used to be a loving, caring woman to becoming an alcoholic and having no caring bone in her body for Kera and her two younger sisters. She was fortunate to have a friend in Lai and have a place to go when she needed to get away from the toxicity in her own household. Even after she was given the opportunity to show her skills and get one step closer to her dream it still seemed like she couldn't get a break with her home situation and things just got worse when het sisters' father came back into the picture.
Kamil seemed like a good dude and I was sorry that she didn't give him a shot and just decided to stick with what was familiar with Stefan especially with how he did her. This book ended on a cliffhanger so I can't way to see what is next for Kera and her relationship, I hope she really is able to find the love she deserves.

CLIFFHANGER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I admired Kera for trying to protect her two younger sisters from her evil, drunken, mother
and her mother's pedophile boyfriends. Hell is not hot enough for Kyla. No one should have to live in fear like that.
Although Kera's childhood love has reappeared, Stefan is hiding some deceitful secrets too.
Can rapper Kamil be the man who will finally and truly love her?

Now Ms.Author why?
I’m not understanding why it was a cliff hanger, the book wasn’t even long enough for it to require a part two in my opinion. I also feel like SA is used too often as a character builder in urban stories and in this one it was very unecessary. Our main character is already facing adversity we really ain’t need her lil sister to suffer. I’m partially interested in part two but I also feel like this story ended a lil too abruptly. Additionally while I know that poverty and adversity may lead people to shutting down the fact that she wants to be a fashion girl but not on social media not on the internet at all is PREPOSTEROUS like cmon now, it’s dragging that “good girl wholesome girl” trope when it’s like unrealistic in this day and age especially since this story is supposed to be set in modern times. Like sure she ain’t gotta be an IG baddie but sis not on Pinterest lol she not using the internet for nothing she just out tryna get into an industry off vibes?!? Like if you gonna be something please be forreal. I also need a better reason for why she wouldn’t take the chance to escape like you don’t wanna be a charity case but you wanna be subjected to verbal abuse and degradation on the daily ?!? . Overall my issue isn’t really the story it’s a decent story but I feel like if you gonna make it current by including modern pop culture references the character needs to reflect that. Also Milly is a bird like I get you wanna mind ya business but it’s two fronts where she’s shown it’s nothing but air in that head. Ya friend might be getting abused and you say “How bad could it be if she not showing up with bruises” like yeah please leave Adrianna alone then ya brother putting you on game that could tarnish your brand and business and you play the “Not my circus not my monkey card” when you know you being messy?!? Yeah ima need some growth the next novel for sure

Whewww chile, this book had me all over the place! Let me tell y’all something about Kera—this girl been through the trenches, and I mean deep. Life gave her scraps, and somehow she still kept showing up, showing out, and trying to hold it all together for her little sisters. Her mama? Straight up bottom-tier parenting. That woman switched from love to liquor and left Kera picking up the broken pieces. Smh.
Now let’s talk about Lai—solid af! That ride-or-die friendship really carried Kera when her own household was nothing but chaos. And just when sis started catching a glimpse of her dreams, boom! Life hit her with more mess, like her sisters’ daddy slithering back into the picture and throwing more flames on the fire.

Kera, you had could have Kamil—a WHOLE good man applying pressure in all the right ways—but you out here double-backing to Stefan because he was your childhood boyfriend?! Nahhh. Make it make sense. Kamil was ready to love you proper, but trauma will really have you choosing familiarity over peace. I felt that deep.
This story was raw, real, and hella frustrating in the best way. I was mad, heartbroken, and hopeful all at the same damn time. Miss Dior, well done. I need healing. I need justice. And I need Kera to get the love, life, and therapy she deserves. Period. On to book 2.

I knew when I looked at the percentage on my Kindle that Rosé was setting us up LOL! Now I gotta wait until the next book but one thing is for sure and two for certain, when people show you who they are believe them. Kera! Smh Oh Kera!
Dysfunctional households really mess with our childhood.
Kera really allowed that boy to kiss her, on the lips at that, not knowing where his mouth had been smh. I thank GOD for my mother, fathers, uncles, cousins, friends, etc. She just met up with this boy and just gave him her virginity. Lack of guidance and love have these girls and boys just accepting anything from their loved ones. A man will do what you allow him to do as you are showing him how to love and treat you. If you don't love and respect yourself did why would he? That man showed her that he is living foul and she is talking about, she loves him when she doesn't even know that man smdh....
I wouldn't even be interested in her anymore if I were Kamil because she is too naive. Talking about his house is being renovated....smh
And y'all don't come with that how she still in her twenties. With the life she has endured and her being supposedly guarded, that man played her too easy out of virginity.

It’s Kamil for me!!!!
Whew Kera has been through a lot and really has no idea what love is because she has never experienced it. Her mother is the most despicable human being to treat her kids the way she does and to allow her youngest daughter Kenya to go through what she experienced with her biological father. I was so glad Kera finally unleashed those hands on her because she definitely deserved it. Kera running across her childhood crush Stef during an event is turning out to be a mess. She believes that she is in love with him and that is so far from the truth but I hope that she eventually moves on after discovering his secret because there is so much better waiting for her around the corner with Kamil. Kamil is bae and I love how he is sitting back just bidding his time to step in and level Kera up and I can’t wait until it happens.

Kera has been going through a lot having an alcoholic mother and taking care of her sisters due to the alcohol taking over their mother's life. Kera deserved better, but unfortunately, she ran into her childhood crush, Stefan, who turned out to be a trifling a$$ 🥷🏾. I just wished Kamil was able to step to Kera first like he wanted to because it was love at first sight for him. I'm so happy that Kera did have a ride or die friend in Laila. We all need someone like Laila to hype up our life like she did Kera's. Kyla and Devin could kick rocks for all I cared and they both needed several hands. I can't wait for Kera to come to her senses and get with Kamil. Ms. Dior has written such an emotion-packed story that I'm anxiously waiting for Part 2.

My heart went out to Mera and her sisters. For a mother to tell you over and over again that they ruined her life and she didn't want them to allow her baby daddy back knowing the type of person he was, was just sick. Then Steph the childhood crush she should have left him where he was, the body told her to choose wisely and she didn't. I hope she don't continue to be stupid and forgive him, she needs to work on her career then when Mammo comes back around give him a chance, at.least he knew what he was about but knew what Steph was doing was wrong and told his twin how he felt, can't wait to dive into book 2.

I had a feeling this was going to be a cliffhanger, when to 80% of the book. Kera is a wonderful Sister and working on her dreams,while raising her younger Sister. Laina was a true friend. Milly is messy to me because she knew what was going on and didn't put Stefan in check. Strfan needs his behind beat. I hope she gives Kamil a chance in book 2, but I have a feeling she ia going to give him a very hard time.

She just wants to take care of her sisters and get away from her mother. She falls in love with her first kiss, and all the while, Kamil is waiting for his time. And just when you're praying for Kere not to fall for the oakie doke, it's over. I can't!

This was My first book by this author…I enjoyed every minute of it but was upset it being a part 2. Now I understand loving somebody who broke your virginity but when you find out they engaged and been in a relationship before you. Honey wake up and smell the coffee. I want women to stop settling. Kera has too much going on anyways to be worried about that no good Stefan. I just want her to focus on her career so she can help raise her sisters…This book was so good and flowed nicely. I love new to me authors that bring that heat and she did that.

This was a good read, don't like how it ended, I hate to be left not knowing and having to wait but I will say this Kyla was a sad excuse for a mother or a woman, blaming her kids for having them when she's the one who got them to begin with. Also, she let Devin the suspected pedophile come back around after leaving her and her girls high and dry to live in the projects for 10 years, chile please, pitiful mother! Stefan seems like a liar and Kera better get hip to players real fast! Not sure what will happen between her and Kamill but she's silly not at least try and see! I hope the next book will be released soon if it hasn't yet!

Good book, but I'm not happy it was a cliffhanger. The author should identify that. I would like to decide whether or not I want to read it before the next book is released. It sometimes takes authors too long, and I practically have read through the prior book.

Kera you have been dealt a crappy ssa hand at life and ya mammy is trash af. Like she is in 2nd place as a crappy ssa momma that I’ve read about and the other is number 1. You been holding you and your sisters down while going to school. Commendable! You end up going out and you run into a boy you once knew when you were 13 and I felt like you really let him play you because you weren’t use to what he gave you. But how after keeping something for so long you gave it to him is beyond me. And then you really wouldn’t be friends with Kamil and he was applying pressure and the good kind behind you. I’m so confused. Then you find out Stefan ain’t shyt and you really thinking about taking him back because you love him. Girl that man is a joke. I hate that for you. You been through too much to be letting this man play you like that. I really hope there’s a shift in book 2 because this can’t be it. Miss Dior you shouldn’t have let these people have you write this story like this, cause they need they sessa whooped.
