He’s only supposed to slip one past the goalie on the ice…

Ally Hartnell always has a plan. She has a job she loves, great friends and a wonderful family to hang out with. Life is perfect. Until a pregnancy test—or five—show up positive. Having a baby wasn’t part of the plan, but now becoming a mom is her only focus. And she doesn’t need the father’s help. But it would be polite to at least let him know.

Domenic Tremblay is going into his second season with the Denver Stampede and loving his new team. His childhood was rough, but hockey is his found family. He's content focusing on his game and having a good time. Settling down? Being a dad? Not on his radar.

When Ally shows up on his doorstep, it's not for one of their memorable strings-free hookups. She's pregnant. Very pregnant. And he's freaked out. He knew he should have kept his hands---and everything else---to himself. She's his old teammate's little sister FFS. Now there are strings everywhere.

Once he pulls his head out of his ass, he knows he can't let her walk away. Given his family history, he has no business being a father, but he's always wanted Ally in his life. Convincing her to move to Denver takes some doing, and a lot of conditions: roommates, future co-parents, absolutely no funny business. But plans don't always stay on track.

First came lust, here comes a baby. Could love be on its way?

USA Today Bestselling Author, Stephanie Kay has always loved a good romance, and she got hooked on the dirty ones at the tender age of 14, when she told her mother that if the cover wasn’t a bodice ripper, then there was no sex in the book. As an avid mystery reader, her mother never checked to see if Stephanie was lying. Twenty plus years later, Stephanie’s most prized possession is her Kindle, and she may have a Hallmark movie obsession.

She has called California, Maryland, and Rhode Island her home, but now lives in New Hampshire with her husband where she asks him incessant questions until he escapes to go hiking in the mountains. That’s the only time she can get him out of the house so she can get her writing in. Married couples shouldn’t both work from home!

Sports were never her thing, but after beta reading for another hockey author and buying NHL Game Center within one month of watching her first hockey game a few years ago, she dove into learning everything she could about the sport and the hot men that play it. Now she spends her spare time visiting hockey arenas in the name of research and loving every second of it.

MCs were FBs on & off for 2 years. They have known each other for 4. Both have slept with OP in between their hookups and Hero has a reputation as a "player". 15% in and I have to call it quits because he saw her as just a FB - someone to flirt and occasionally f**k. Nothing in his POVs tell me that he has strong feelings for her and vice versa.

I like my MCs true to one another and to have a strong connection and chemistry. All I got so far is that they are forced to be together because of the baby. Had there been no pregnancy, would they have ever been a couple? No and that is where it lost me because I can't stand forced tropes. If either was special, then they wouldn't have slept around with OP. The End.

DNF.

Domenic Tremblay plays for the NHL Denver Stampede and loves it. Hockey has always been a part of his life and right now he is focusing on playing the best he can. There has always been a solid connection between him and Ally, but what he wasn’t expecting was for that connection to result in a baby. Now he has to make the right decisions, not only just being a better father than his has ever been, but also having Ally be in his life permanently. Now he just has to convince her to move to Denver where they can be a family, the family he has always wanted to have and show her he loves her.

Ally Hartnell has been around hockey all her life, especially since her brother Ethan “Harty” plays for the San Francisco Strikers (his book is Breakout #1 in that series). He had one rule and that was his sister was off limits. The funny thing is she never paid attention to that rule and either did one of his former teammates, Domenic, someone that Ally has always had a crush on. One of their secret hookups resulted in another surprise, after months of keeping the father a secret, Ally knew she had to tell Domenic. She did and the results were not what she expected at all. He vowed to be with her every step of the way even if he was in another state. When he suggested that she move to Denver to become co-parents, while in the back of her head she knew it was possible, she didn’t dream that the crush would turn into something permanent.

This is the 4th book in the Denver Stampede series and it is NOT disappointing. The connection between Ally and Domenic is amazing. There was definite heat that you could feel but they were also smart and took things slowly. The jealous, protective brother in there that may or may not have taken it a little to seriously was perfect. Can’t wait to see where they will go as a couple and who will be the next in the series to find love.

Dom and Ally

This was a relatively low angst, lighthearted, surprise pregnancy, hockey romance. There were a lot of cameos from the San Francisco Strikers series and it felt like the final closure in that original group of guys.

Dom and Ally were a couple who were too young to want forever when they met and when Ally found out she was pregnant that forced them to become what they always should have been. I loved how all in Dom was after being dead set on never having kids. His character growth from beginning to end was amazing. He went from a nonchalant player with some deep wounds from childhood to the ultimate husband and father, determined to do better for his daughter than his parents did for him.

But Dom wasn’t the only character that needed to grow in this story. Ally also had some big things to overcome. One of the things that always bothers me in books with a surprise pregnancy and an ex-playboy is when the heroine questions his intentions when he’s been nothing but supportive. Sure Dom was a bit of a flirt, but he not only told Ally he was all in, but he showed her with his actions. She had to grow to understand that he now came before her family, and once she did and moved to Denver, things changed quickly for the two of them. They became so much more than the forbidden, on and off fling.

I liked this book a lot. It was fun and flirty. It was lighthearted and easy to read.

🏒On Thin Ice🏒
Denver Stampede #4

By Stephanie Kay

⭐ 5/5 ❤️ 5/5 🌶️ 4/5

🏒 Sports Romance
🏒 Ex Teammate’s little sister
🏒 Hockey Romance

Ally
Confident in life, hesitant in love

Dom
Confident in the game, insecure about relationships

Sweet, real and swoony

Dom and Ally are sweet and adorable. We follow them through a life changing experience while trying to navigate their new lives now.
They had fun whenever they were in the same place or town. Always casual and not really entering the friends stage.
But their last encounter will stay with them for a long time.
When Ally discovers that she is pregnant she knows only one thing for sure, that she will keep the baby.
Telling the dad? Is on another paper. But she finds the confidence, only to say she surprised Dom is an understatement.
After a first worst impression, they slowly work on finding their way to their new chapter. Weeks and months go by before they take the next step.
And from there it goes to paths they both didn’t know they would ever go.
Both characters lived different lifes with different experiences. They want different things in life. To bring those fears and wants into a direction took a lot of work and time. But they did it in a relatable, realistic and adorable way. They supported each other, were patient when needed, cared about each other and complemented each other. A wonderful story with events, incidents and outcomes in the best way possible.

Unexpected sweetness ahead....

I've loved Ally since Breakout, and I always figured Ethan would go overboard on the protective older brother role when he finally found out who Baby Daddy was. I'm not sure who was On Thin-ner Ice: Ethan or Dom!

Ally is a woman after my own heart - everything needs a plan. While I think Ethan should have found out sooner, I can understand why it took her so long. I can also understand both their reactions when she finally told him and how that shaped Ally's expectations of Dom moving forward.

At the heart of the story, Dom falls hard both for Ally and his little girl and goes out of his way to prove it, and I know neither of them expected to be parents - like ever for Dom - but this was the only way these two were going to find their way to each other.

There were laugh out loud parts and parts that make you cringe. They intersected when everyone found out Dom was the father, and I had to stop reading and allow the secondhand embarrassment and "oh crap" feeling fade before I could continue. Stupid Baz and his baiting! LOL It ended up being the perfect way, and I loved it. Just as I loved every part of this book and seeing beloved characters again.

I’m loving everything about the Denver Stampede Series and Ally Hartnell and Domenic Tremblay’s journey is the perfect addition to the series. If you love surprise pregnancy’s and hockey romances look no further than On Thin Ice (Denver Stampede #4).
Ally has grown up around hockey and has crushed on Dom since he was her brother’s teammate at the San Francisco Strikers but who would know one secret hookup and a night of passion would change both of their life’s.
Ally kept her pregnancy and who the father is for as long as she can but she knows in her heart of hearts that Dom deserves to know even if he is not prepared to be a dad. Imagine her surprise when he steps up to be a dad and offers her a room in his condo in Denver. So will Ally move States to be with the father of her unborn little girl and more importantly what happens when they spend time under the same roof…..one click this gem now to find out.
I fell hard and fast for Dom and I adored Ally but what took this book to another level was the determination Dom had to prove he could be the man Ally needs. A great read that I highly recommend.

There are not many things hotter than a hockey player. I mean hockey butts and all that. But reading how Dom was with his baby. Sigh. Ovaries exploding. Ally was such a lovable character. I really felt her struggles from the beginning, facing the possibility of being a single mother, anxiety ridden with telling the father he’s gonna be a father. Dom was an unlikely hero in a way. In the other books leading to their story you knew he had potential but reading the first part it made it possible to think maybe he wasn’t gonna make it there in the end. So when he did it made it all the more sweet. I loved their love story, it is just so sweet and refreshing. Maybe it’s that I’m at a point in my life that reading about a father that absolutely loves their kiddos so just hot. Besides the amazing story of Dom and Ally, Sin makes another appearance in this story. I say this every time I read one of Stephanie’s books in these series (Strikers and Stampedes) I just can’t wait for his story. The shenanigans he will get into is gonna be awesome. He is such a lovable and fun side character.

Domenic "Dom" Tremblay, was traded to the hockey team the Denver Stampede. He’s settling in with his new team but keeps up with his old team in San Francisco. Ally Hartnell is related to one of his former hockey teammates and good friend in San Francisco. They hooked up a few times in the past. Ally comes to Denver for a conference but she needs to see Dom for a personal reason. Their last tryst resulted in a pregnancy and she needs to tell him before her brother finds out. After freaking out, Dom steps up and encourages Ally to come live with him so he can care for her and they can co-parent. Their relationship develops slowly, sometimes too slowly, but once Olivia is born they are committed to her and each other. I enjoy that we get to keep up with the other couples we met in previous books and the joking among the teammates is fun but they are still very supportive. This book has hockey action, steamy scenes and a happy ever after. Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Oh my gosh! Dom and Ally are two of my new favorite Denver Stampede characters. And add in “Livi”, and chefs kiss! When Dom and Ally first met he was on her brother, Ethan “Harty’s” team the San Francisco Strikers. So, Harty warned him off her declaring her off limits! That was like putting catnip before a cat. lol! Of course both of them were more determined than ever to defy his command to leave her alone! Years later Dom had been traded to The Denver Stampede expansion team. He’s always been something of a player, but every time he and Ally are in the same city they once again hook up!
The most recent hookup has lasting results! Now she’s pregnant, and they are attempting to actually get to know each other to co-parent their daughter!
Such a sweet, laugh out loud at times, romantic story. Lots of hockey action, hot hockey players, their beautiful women, with a generous helping steam!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars for Stephanie Kay and On Thin Ice!

Denver Stampede #4

Domenic "Dom" Tremblay, 25 was a former rookie forward for the San Francisco Striker hockey team but is now in his second season with the Denver Stampede. He's known as a playboy, having a good time and focusing on his game and team.

Ally Hartnell's brother Ethan plays for the Strikers and that's how she met Dom. He had been warned to stay away from her but that didn't stop them from hooking up several times. Now she's on his doorstep in Denver with news he was never expecting, pregnant. He is freaking out. She goes back to SF. Where do they go from here?

4.5 stars
Loved the story! Dom turns out to be such a great guy and dad. The side characters were great and the bantering among the players funny. I loved how all the players, WAGS and her family rallied around her.
Can't wait for Micah's story.

Just when I think the previous book in this series couldn’t possibly be topped, Stephanie releases the next story and yep, it’s definitely better.
I loved everything about Dom & Ally’s story. Their past really only consisted of them having sporadic hookups, and shockingly the last time resulted in a pregnancy.
I thought Stephanie really nailed both Dom & Ally’s reactions and emotions at this point of the story, but the best part for me was reading Dom come into his own.
One of the reasons why I love sports romance novels is because the teammates are like a family. This story in particular felt like that even more so. Every character added to the book that makes it such an incredible read.
Now, rubbing my hands together in glee - I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on Micah’s story next!!

Possible spoilers!

Oh, my! I. LOVE. Dom. End of story. Why is he so perfect?! Ugh! Stephanie blew this one out of the water. Makes me want to go back and read the Strikers series and watch it all unfold. The Stampede definitely give you that found family feel and you’ll get to see your other favorite characters show up time and time again. I love how she perfectly interconnects them but makes you feel each book truly is a standalone. There’s so much angst in stories like this one and I love that she didn’t have to give us a third act breakup to “make” the story better or add more angst. And umm… hey Steph- I’m all here for making Tally sweat over being a dad. 👀😍 Cora and Nate are still my favorite and probably always will be, but you will absolutely fall in love with Ally and Dom!

He comes around

I love Dom in this story. He is shocked when Ally visits him with her news, but almost immediately, he knows he wants to be in his child's life. We are told he is a player, but we don't have to see any of that first hand. I wanted to know that Ally was the last person that he slept with, but that was not confirmed, even though he was her last. He does everything he can to learn and grow. He falls first, but then I think he had already fallen when they first met. I love that Ally has lists and plans and lives by them until she can't anymore. I love the teams and their family feel. I love her family and her best friend Darcy. I will be reading more about both teams. The writing is nicely done.

I didn't really remember Ally and Dom from the San Francisco Strikers series (it's been a long time since I read), but that didn't make a difference. I loved Ally and Dom, and loved their out-of-traditional-order journey to forever. It was so fun to watch Dom embrace fatherhood after his initial shock (and stupidity lol). I laughed so hard at Ally's brother, Ethan. His reaction and big brother over-protection was hilarious. It was fun to see familiar characters from the Strikers (I recognized names even though it's been awhile since I read their stories) - I love when authors do cross-over books!

Oh my! I think this was my favorite book of the series - maybe I just have a thing for reformed bad boys!

Dom - what is there to say? Can we say shocked when his FWB shows up on his doorstep 26 weeks pregnant with the news he’s going to be a daddy? Even though he didn’t take the news well (understatement) it was fun to watch him and Ally work through their feelings while preparing for parenthood.

I loved not only the romance between Dom and Ally but also the interactions between teammates- old and new. It was so fun catching up with the OG Ethan and Penny and all the other Strikers. I definitely can’t wait for Micah’s story but I’m really Jonesing for Sin’s story!

I enjoyed this book! I thought the characters had chemistry and were on the path to being well developed. I would have liked to see a bit more development for them both. This is a pretty fluffy, low angst book. At times the pacing was a bit slow and could have been a few less pages.

I wish there had been more resolution with Dom’s family. They are clearly an issue but not much comes of it.

There is spice but it’s more of a 🌶️🌶️🌶️ on a five scale.

Cute continuation of the series. It’s nice if you’ve read the other books but this is definitely a stand alone and you’re not lost if you haven’t read the other books.

OMG, I LOVED DOM & ALLY SO MUCH! Love, love, love! Dom & Ally have been in multiple books by Stephanie & I am so happy that they finally got their HEA! If you like MF, pregnancy, hockey, overprotective brother, slow/medium burn, this is for you.

Yes to 2nd chances & pregnancy

Ally and Dom have danced around eachother for a few years but aside from mutually passionate nights they remained happy single or so both thought. Their chemistry is magnetic and reading about Dom, a player no more, and how he wins Ally over was so fun. The spice level and teasing is fun and I loved that the pregnancy was part of the entire book not just the end. Fantastic addition to the Denver Stampede series.

Typically, I am not a fan of the pregnacy trope but Stephanie wrote Dom and Ally's love story beautifully. I was so happy to witness the growth of these characters. This is a hockey romance and Stephanie's love of the game truly shows in every book. I look forward to more to come from the Denver Stampede players.

This is the 4th book in the Denver Stampede hockey series. It is the story of hockey star Domenic Tremblay and Ally Hartnell. Dom was Ally’s brother’s teammate on the San Francisco Strikers team. The two had been hooking up sporadically for years and then 2 lines appeared on the little stick.

So far disappointing, chapter 3. I do not like books where the fc is pregnant and does not tell the mc, even when the fc knows where the mc is. Then gets pissed when the mc reacts but has not had the same amount of time to process. I will see if I can continue to read or if this is a skim and dnf.

After several more chapters, it was better. I’m glad Ally improved. It was an enjoyable read
