I did like Ryan, but I felt that we didn’t see enough of his POV or emotions. I just didn’t care for the heroine. It was hard to put my finger on it, but I think it’s because she’s too self centered. Plot lines were teased (the Ebil Ex, the rivalry with and possible villainy of the team captain), but they didn’t go anywhere. It was an okay book, but I didn’t really care for it.

Ryan is Olivia's brother's best friend, and after a deal, he's now her boss too... AND one of his brand sponsorships would prefer if he had a fiance or wife, so Olivia is now ALSO his fake fiance! But they have a complicated history, and Olivia has some past trauma as well, that certainly complicates things.
It's always difficult for Novella's to get a full impact across, and to really let the reader get to know the characters, which certainly makes this type of story more difficult for me to enjoy. But we certainly get enough of Olivia's backstory to understand where she is coming from, and to help us to enjoy her character growth over the course of this story, making it an enjoyable quick read overall.

Honestly, this story left me slightly confused. Olivia and Ryan have known each other for a long time, now they meet cause she needs to get a deal with him to save an animal shelter ….but the moment she takes his offer you hear no more about this project. He then gets offered a brand deal and needs a fake fiancée which infuriates her brother and makes his teammates suspicious. Throughout all this their chemistry is boiling over and he gets her pregnant … I wish the story was a bit longer and I could get more background information out of it to make the plot more logical.

From fake relationship to real sparks and falling in love, from enemies to lovers. Becoming assistant to billionaire, professional hockey player, who is also brother's best friend, complicates everything. Keeping secrets changes dynamics and adds intensity in relations. What is fake and what is real now? Who plays in your team and who is enemy? Easy to read, I like characters and story line.

Faking It With The Hockey Star was a great sports themed romance by Erin Beckett. I am a hug fan of hockey so I was excited to read Olivia and Ryan's story. It certainly did not disappoint. Enemies to lovers Olivia agrees to be Ryan's assistant and pretend fiancee to secure a business deal. Neither expect the fake relationship to feel so real. Once I began reading I simply couldn't put it down. Great read.
This was Ryan and Olivia’s story. Rule number one: Don’t fall for your brother’s best friend. Especially if he’s a billionaire hockey player and also your boss. But here she is wearing a fake ring from Ryan, but the sparks? Those are real. Every debate, every touch, is like a power play in overtime. What will happen next? Am voluntarily leaving this review.
Ryan is a billionaire hockey player. His best friend is Olivia’s brother. He was told to not go out with Olivia. But to make deal happen she has to be Ryan’s PA for six months to a year. In that short time he fell for her.
