It’s hard to live up to your father’s legacy when he’s a force of nature.

Most young women raised in the Kerrick Confederacy of Aligned Planets go to school. Mia had daily firearms practice, tactical exercises, and pilot training.

She never cared about her strange life, only about living up to the expectations of her father. His mysterious job often takes him away on secret missions, leaving her to self-training until the day she can surpass him.

Now she will never get the chance.

When a messenger from the city arrives at the homestead, Mia’s not ready for the harsh truth.

Her father has died under classified circumstances. No one will tell her the truth, leaving her with only one option.

Can she ferret out the truth about her father’s death by herself?

Being raised as the perfect soldier doesn’t mean surviving the urban jungle will be easy.

Her audacious plan takes her far from home to the world's largest city. Betrayals push her to an even more surprising place.

The most elite fighter training school in the KCAP is the only place she can earn the influence she needs to learn the truth about her father. Before that, she'll need to survive a true nest of a private military academy.

Can a girl taught to shoot first and ask questions later learn to operate in a dangerous environment where everyone is friend and foe?

A must read original

Wonderful storyline, well developed characters, and a unique read throughout. I was truly sad to
see this series come to and end.

Just Okay. More suited for the Youth

It’s like the author tired of writing the series and rushed the ending (unsatisfying). While the characters were interesting, the author spent too much time reusing their thoughts. Way, way too much repetition. The plot was okay. The scene settings were a little lacking.

A WILD thrill ride through the galaxy, Mia is the daughter of an enhanced mutated super soldier. I think of her more like a human version of the goddess Athena sprung full formed from Zeus, though Mia grew up the old fashioned human way and was trained in Warcraft from her earliest memories.

So when Mia’s father is gone and she is only 17, she is thrown into “the call to adventure”. It’s a term created by world mythologist Joseph Campbell who wrote the Hero’s Journey and he talked about how each hero/heroine receive the call to adventure - a paradigm shift occurs in their life, forcing them to take action.

So Mia’s father is gone and she doesn’t know why, and what happened, so Mia/warrior human goddess in training is GOING to get answers, so she chases the one lead she has, from the law firm that delivered the law notice.

There are MARVELOUS twists and turns more numerous than a Greek labyrinth here, one of them being that Mia goes to the city to talk to the gal from the firm that delivered the noice of her father’s death, and Mia later is attacked by thugs, so she defends herself and accidentally kills the thugs and lands in jail.

Mia cannot be at peace until she has answers, so this becomes her MISSION, her reason for being- discovering the truth of her father’s death and avenging him.

Fortuitously an old cop realizes what is happening and intervenes (a device that Joseph Campbell talks about called the teacher or the mentor, think of Yoda with young Skywalker teaching him the ways of the Jedi) and gets Mia out of jail and since she is underage, finds someone for her as a short term guardian, Dr. Abagail, who is able to guide Mia through different aspects of wisdom and training her in critical areas lacking in her fathers training.

Mia goes to an elite school for combat training, smacks down some of the young guns who think they are all that and the best (she IS better) and begins to make friends. Disturbing things continue to happen - including attempted kidnapping by supposed MPs (they weren’t), but ultimately Mia survives the academy while following clues about her father’s death (seriously, BLOODHOUNDS aren’t this committed!) and graduation as an Elite pilot from KCAP Academy.

Unfortunately one of the clues involves a serious prank and gets Mia temporarily sentenced to ICE which is a prison world that has hidden information supposed about her dad for 30 days. Sounds do-able, but somehow the people who had her father killed, perhaps highly placed people, have changed her paperwork and put MIA in BLACK Ice, wher the worst of the worst criminals in the universe.

Mia is getting her skill set honed in ICE since she meets the terrifying Dr, Icaryus, who realizes she is the daughter of Emerys, and begins using her for one of his experiments but she miraculously escapes and she manages to make one critical ally at the very end of her stay.

The books ONLY GET BETTER! It’s young warrior goddess in training with ragtag underdog besties that she brings with her, on this galactic wild crazzzzzzy ride in the ultimate battle of good versus evil..

It has it ALL - fighting, fencing, blow em up, shoot em ups, true love (that’s for the Princess Bride fans with modifications 😜) and I read books 1 through 5 through our Zurich to London flight and London to DFW gleefully, sooooooo much uninterrupted reading time!!!

And of course I have read through the night long past bedtime anxious to see where this would end - amazing!

Michael Anderle is a dream of a writer - hope you will be enthralled and delighted just as my hubby and I have been with his remarkable writing! (We share reads - after 26 years, we know what each other likes!)

A golden galatic series and an absolutely worthwhile read

An OK series with some serious flaws.

Despite the author's notes, quality trumps quantity and he's completely focused on quantity. It's an interesting series with some good ideas - hampered by repetitive prose and filler text that does nothing to advance the story or the characters.

For free (Kindle Unlimited) it's an OK read. But do not expect the quality, engagement or impact of authors who have perfected their craft.

The negatives include:

- Talking about the mission - ten billion times - as if that equates to agency (it does not).
- Incredibly shallow character development and motivations - very much a paint by numbers affair.
- Author's notes talking about characters being important - while only one (Mia) is given `screen time`.

I read all the books in the series, but I have no desire to read anything else by this author. YMMV.

Revenge, genetics, and good space opera

Michael wrote a fun and entertaining series. I usually don't think much about 10 books series, oftentimes getting lost in the minutiae of whatever thing that the author is feeling time with, but this time the author really kept the story going. This is both wide-ranging space Opera mixed with high adventure, and a little sense of mercenary fun. The main character was difficult to relate to, but it was justified in the way she grew up, and you needed a super badass with limited emotional feelings to take on the galaxy. It is a worthwhile add to any person's library. I recommend it.

against all odds

Well what can I say. This series was all fights, destruction, chaos and love. I couldn’t put it down even when I knew what was going to happen in the end. It took a very creative mind to hold it all together. I was a bit disappointed with the final chapter, it could have been a bit longer. You had to read between the lines to come up with what had happened. That said I really enjoyed the series, well done Michael.

Top Gun meets Guardians of the Galaxy

The written style was great for the storyline and made sense the more you read. Fighting scenes were like being in a real fight. I loved the storyline and wish I could read more about their adventures. Not my normal genre, but it made me fan and to read more.

Action and adventure

This book had different sci-fi story that a very good easy to keep up with as it played out . I was really engaged with the characters and the villains. The book would entertain age young adults and up? I was glue to the books and read thru the till the thrill end.

Well Above Average

It's more than just page after page of heart racing action. There is true pathos, suspense and character development. I haven't enjoyed a read as much as this in quite a while. Excellent value.

Good Read

Kept me entranced from beginning to end. Twists and turns making it difficult to see where the plot was going. Glad to see most of the main characters lived. Still safe to see those that did not

Gripping

It’s been a while since I had such an intense read. Even though you know the hero will win in the end the twists and turns to get her there are Gripping. A thoroughly good read.

THIS WAS AWESOME

I loved this series. It was engaging, philosophical, and had all the components of a great story. Little bit of a space opera with all the things the flight had to endure. Would highly recommend this one

Really enjoyed this series

Good plot lines not spoilt by the usual romance back story. Liked how the heroine started of thinking she could fight the universe single handed only to slowly learn you need good people backing you up.

Good sci-fi

Sort of superhero-sci-fi mashup. Only flaw is heroine is a Data (next gen reference) clone that becomes tiresome after awhile.

Page turning swash buckling story

An Anderle classic. Space action and/or ground engagement in nearly every. Characters you can love, and those to hate. Hard to put down.

This is a 9 book series though it is best read on one block as each book is very much a (hefty) chapter in a single story. It's well written and fast paced and entertaining. Although much of the action is standard space battles, and the premise of genetically engineered super soldiers isn't new, the characters and plots are interesting and well structured. The very end seems to be tied up far too quickly, easily and neatly but otherwise, I found this a decent read.

Brutally amazing

I loved this set!! Having an unconventional upbringing prepares Mia for the ultimate fight against evil. With an unexpected group of friends she fights the corruption that took away her family...but can she succeed against insurmountable odds. MA yet again delivers a kick butt DMV and if would Bethany Ann you will love this set too!!! More please Michael!
