Dwayne Morrow and the team from Boggs Investigations find themselves in the Desert Oasis after Loretta Boggs scores discount pricing to a popular private investigation seminar. It’s another opportunity to enhance the fledgling team’s skill set, and this team needs all the help it can get. With their daytime schedules filled, their evenings are free to explore what the Entertainment Capital of the World has to offer, and Loretta has already started a list.
For Jane Bond, the seminar is simply a drive across town from her house on Anime Street, and Olive seems eager to attend, so why not? Not only would it be beneficial to Bailey & Bond Investigations, but it could also be fun! Inclined to let Olive plan their evening excursions while she tags along for the ride, Jane soon finds herself in the crowd at a highly advertised stage show that’s struggling to find its audience, and it’s no wonder. No one in attendance can seem to recall what happens during the show.
What are the odds that these two disparate parties should cross paths?
It’s a team-up you never knew you needed as Jane and Dwayne join forces to uncover the truth behind the group amnesia that’s affecting audience members and draining them of available cash!
Darin Miller was born in Portsmouth but currently resides in Grove City, both of which are located in Ohio. While he has worked in Information Technology for three decades, he has not solved a single, solitary crime to date. He is the BookFest award-winning author of the Ohio-based Dwayne Morrow Mystery series, as well as an unrelated short story collection, Broken Bits and Bobs, and a standalone psychological horror thriller, Equilibrium. With equal parts action, humor, suspense and mystery, the Dwayne Morrow series features characters you’re sure to love—and in some cases, loathe.
Now I know you're probably expecting an informative, thoughtful review of Overconsumption by Darin Miller and V.R. Tapscott. But lemme stop you right there, because this ain't like my normal book reviews. This book rips up the rulebook, sets it on fire, and uses the ashes to spell out "DOWNLOAD ME NOW." Overconsumption by Darin Miller and V.R. Tapscott—just reading those names makes my eyeballs tingle. They really did something special here. This book is in a category all of its own. I'd try to describe it, but nothing I say could do it justice. Nope, the only way you'll understand is if you momentarily stop reading this review and immediately and go download yourself a copy. Go ahead. I’ll wait…
You know those Dwayne Morrow Mysteries books? The ones with more mystery and intrigue than a Scooby-Doo episode? Well the man, the myth, the legend himself makes an appearance in Overconsumption, along with his investigating crew of amazing characters. But wait, there's more! We've also got Jane and Olive popping in from the Tapscott's Jane Bond series. Now I'll be honest, I haven't read those books yet, but halfway through Overconsumption, I slammed on the brakes. My spidey senses were tingling, telling me I needed to stop everything and download Book 1 of the Jane Bond series stat. I shoved it into my meticulously planned reading list for the month because clearly this was a must read sitch.
You're in for a real treat with this one! A couple of familiar faces make a wacky appearance in Overconsumption that will have you busting a gut. Brandon Carter and Elisabeth Busch, or should I say, their hilariously renamed alter egos, bring the mayhem in a way only Miller and Tapscott can deliver. I won't spill the beans, but let's just say when the gang visits the Emus on Ice event, after the Masters of Deduction Sleuthing Seminar, the most bizarre, off-the-wall, laugh-out-loud moments ensue. The imagination and creativity levels are through the roof in this book. The authors pulled out all the stops to deliver an uproarious adventure that will leave you laughing until you cry. Get ready for some serious funny business!
Wow. Just wow. I don't even know where to begin with you two. Darin, V.R., you’ve broken my brain. I haven't laughed this hard in such a long time. Every page was unique. I don't know if I should nominate you for a Nobel Prize or check you both into an asylum. Please never stop being your wildly unpredictable selves. The world needs more wonderfully weird books like this to shake us out of our mundane realities. I salute you!
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! Dwayne and Boggs Investigations are in Vegas for a private investigation seminar, and quickly became friends with Jane Bond and Olive from Bailey & Bond Investigations. And begin going to lunch and shows together. But when Dwayne’s credit card is denied and a warning of low funds in his account, the women are more than happy to foot the bill. Something isn’t right, but they are enjoying the show, although they can’t seem to remember the end…no one remembers the end. This is a case that is out of this world and is about to go world wide! I laughed at the silly characters and the friendships that were made. This is what happens when two great authors join together to create a novella which include characters from their own books and introduce them in one book.
Fantastical plus gumshoe equals highly entertaining!
What the heck just happened in Vegas? This is a romp through sin city like no other. It’s got a convention, costumes, indulgence, and then there is that limo ride … Back to the story, our heroes find themselves a little too under the Vegas spell and just what are they going to do about it? A must read if you like a little fantastical action thrown in with gumshoe detective.
Over Consumption is an enjoyable mystery novel that blends humor, suspense, and the quirky charm of Las Vegas. The characters are relatable and engaging, and the central mystery is intriguing enough to keep readers hooked until the final page. It’s a lighthearted yet thrilling read that fans of the genre will appreciate!
What a fun story! Full of larger-than-life characters. These two authors should write together again. I didn’t guess the ending, there were so many distractions and twists and turns. Highly recommended.
cute book. after reading a jane bond book that i had won, i suggested to darin that he & v.r. should do a book together. turns out they had done this novella. hope now they do a full novel including both.
