Christ-Centered Intentional Parenting

Rate this book
After my two year old's tantrum and my preteen's tirade, our family had tears for breakfast. Between agency and protecting, parenting and respecting, sometimes I can't manage the stress and blow up at them. Later, I regret the way I treated them and feel terrible as a parent. Have you ever . . . Regretted yelling at your kids? Run out of patience when repeating yourself for the fourth time? Wished you knew better ways to handle situations at home? Jesus Christ is the exemplar of all things, even parenting! Learn how to consistently act in calm, positive ways instead of reacting in anger. Recognize mistakes as opportunities to teach rather than reasons to punish. Find out how you can parent with more confidence and compassion. Sherene Van Dyke, mother of five and a parent educator, reveals how common family struggles can be resolved through Christ-centered, Intentional Parenting. Each chapter explores an attribute of the Savior and connects it to parenting. By looking to His example and striving to become like Him in all that we do, our hearts and our homes will be changed for good.

An enjoyable book to read. Inspirational messages as the message of parenting by thinking "What would Jesus do?" Is explored. The author looks at various attributes of Jesus and discussed how they can be used to parent our children.

I received an ARC Advanced Reader Copy from the publisher however the opinions are my own.

Four things I liked about this book: (1) It's focused on Christ! The greatest example of righteous influence. (2) It illustrates each concept with specific, real-life stories from real parents, that I can relate with. (3) It doesn't resort to any fancy terminology or trademarked parenting "method." It uses down-to-earth, straightforward, plain language and common sense. (4) It includes worksheets at the end of each chapter, to help the reader think about and begin applying the concepts.

Thank you, Sherene, for this beautiful book about how to parent like Christ!

I absolutely loved this book! Initially, I thought it would only be useful for parents of young children, but it turned out to be an invaluable resource for parents of older kids and anyone looking to improve their interpersonal relationships. The way it beautifully illustrates using Christ's examples from the scriptures to foster good behavior and nurturing, loving relationships is truly inspiring. Every page is filled with wisdom and practical advice that resonates deeply. Though I received an ARC copy, these heartfelt opinions are entirely my own.

This book is exactly what it says it it, and I loved that! Each chapter is focused a different way Christ was and how we can be like that in our parenting. Very, very inspiring. I especially loved the story at the end about tears for breakfast. So relatable!! I received an advanced copy of "Christ-Centered Intentional Parenting" but these views are my own.
