An interesting selection of short stories in which things are often NOT what they seem. Either there's no murder, there's no victim, the victim is someone (or something) else, or there's literal smoke and mirrors going on. As it happened to me with other Japanese mysteries, I think the situations are outstanding. What's lacking, oddly enough, is the character development of the detective. Still, a pleasant reading.
