Mr Tim

Rate this book
IT'S THE 1950'S AND A CULTURE CLASH. The introspective Tim is 19 years old. He has had to leave public school a year early because money's run out. Dumped in a decidedly non-'posh' and closely-knit. old fashioned community in mid-Wales where everyone knows everyone else, he is learning to be a land agent - the hard way. Hilarious adventures and misadventures with man and beast ensue over the course of an agricultural year as he makes his way among the lively characters he lives and works with - finding kindness and wisdom in unexpected places. Comedy holds centre stage but the shadows of war linger as the fatherless Tim, whose nature is to be kind, struggles to suppress envy of his clever and beautiful sister Sophie and his best friends - the selfish Rhydian and the kindly James - gone up to top universities. At home his widowed mother struggles to keep up appearances. Then romance beckons - in a big and unimagined way. Women are drawn to Tim but he doesn't know why. ...
