Ready Alert for Love

Rate this book
If there is one constant in Luna’s life, it would be the hate she harbours for most men. Things worsened when her younger sister, Jinni Choi, kept on falling for the wrong guys. As a coping mechanism,
Luna birthed Ready Alert for Losers (RAFL) – a security app to recognise problematic guys at their university to aid girls in avoiding these devil-in-disguise beings.

That is until she stumbles upon a cute and sweet Psychology major hottie who keeps bugging her to remove his name from the app.

“I know the fake date is harmless, Lu. But what if... it’s prolonged? What if, it isn’t just a one-time thing?” – Emery Song

Luna could feel her never-changing feelings turn into something unfamiliar as their paths collided. But in order to be loved, you need to
offer love as well.

Would Luna be able to do so, then? To welcome her unrecognisable feelings and make way for them And would she be brave enough to set them apart if the red flag one had been her... and not the man?

“Running away from love might feel like self-care, but it’s not, Luna. It’s self-sabotage.”

"but when you spend your whole life living in a bad place, you don't really think there's a better place or truly good people out there. You just thought everything else around you was also burning.
But there is.
It exists.
A place that's impenetrable to fire. Better, a person who'd want to shield you from it. If you look hard enough, you'll eventually find it."

This book felt like an ode to my younger self.
If this book had existed three years ago, I would've bawled my eyes out and cried my heart out.
But reading this now, made me feel thankful that I have survived through tough times, and Luna made me embrace my younger self, for having to go through so much.
And thankful, for surviving through it all.

I feel that even from the first glance and cover of the book, I was immediately hooked. A girl making an app to make a safe haven for girls to filter the guys in her campus? bro, YES PLEASE. Like I would've loved if this existed in real life. And I felt, because I was anticipating a romcom, I think I wanted more? So, yes this is a romcom, but, its more than just a romcom. Because in the heart of the book, its more on self-discovery , hope and finding love when you feel unable to do so . So if you're looking it in another perspective, it is a romance but filled with more meaning.

I honestly blame my habitual work that I can't seem to switch off when reading this book kah kah. There were some lines that felt stiff and I do feel that there would be more... closure (?) I guess to develop between Emery and Luna, but at the end of the day, go into this book with a mindset that it focuses a lot on the characters and not just the romance aspect. (Again - I blame my expectations haha)

But, looking through my notes whilst reading it and after processing my emotions, this book is a gem on its own. Its my first work from this author, and I personally feel she can go far. The emotions that she wrote through was raw and real. Luna is a character that you might love or hate, but good lord I will protect her at all cost. And freaking Emery Song? Man's reincarnated straight out of a kdrama (I'm obsessed with Lovely Runner at this current moment so yeeeeeeeep EMERY!!)

Through the heart of the story, its a story for the eldest daughters. For the women who has to stand up for herself. For the children who had to bear the trauma that was inflicted by their parents. And its for you, who are in need of something to hold onto. Its a story that will make you feel that you are not entirely alone in this world - and through the tough times, there will be rainbow at the end of the dark cloud.

Will I recommend this? Absolutely. Its fun and straightforward but it will also touch your heart to the very soul. And at the end of the day, there is more to human relationships and the one way to find love is from loving your own self first. And I do pray, for those who are searching for it, will find it as well.

4🌟 for this one!

Thank you to Manes for the early copy! I truly appreciate it.

Ready Alert For Love by Raffeera

Luna, who was coming up from a dysfunctional family, had always viewed being in a relationship with men as "3C: creepy, claustrophobic and cringy" Yes, she hate men very much! So she created an app 𝗥𝗔𝗙𝗟: 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗿 (a security app to recognize problematic & red flag guys at their university)

That is until she stumbles upon a cute and sweet Psychology major hottie who keeps bugging her to remove his name from the app. Since then, his feelings towards Luna started to grow.

"𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐠𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐨, 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐚. 𝐈 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟."

First of all, I want to say that this book is one of my best read this year! The trope(s) in this book has everything that I like: 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽𝘆 𝗫 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲, 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿, 𝗳𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 and this book is a total definition of "HE WAS SUNSHINE, I WAS MIDNIGHT RAIN."

From the very first glance at the cover, I was intrigued. The idea of creating an app from a girl was very creative! Even I never thought of creating an app like that! 😍

𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶 ⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡
Coming from a dysfunctional family never been easy especially when she was an eldest daughter.
The book was beautifully captures the essence of surviving hard times. Luna's struggle to protect herself and her younger siblings from their parents' inflicted trauma is both heartbreaking and inspiring. I love her character's development. From someone who always distancing herself with others, but she slowly opening up her heart to everyone. As an eldest daughter, I totally understand her feelings which makes me even emotional reading this book! 🥺😭

𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗴 ⋆𐙚₊˚⊹♡
ANOTHER GREEN FLAG MAN EVER EXIST! We all know how Luna's condition is it, but Emery always accompanying her, listen to her problems, and he always giving advices to Luna, and comfort her. As a Psychology major student, he's indeed was the best therapist for Luna. If Luna is a midnight rain, he was her sunshine. He always been there for Luna. 🥺💫✨❤️

"𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫?" -Luna
"𝐈 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬." -Emery

Overall, I really like this book. From the cover, the storyline, the messages, the plot that had me being me in a rollercoaster of emotions and the characters is everything that I like.

To all the girls who's always doubting yourself, remember to "have faith that even with rough edges, we still could be loved." 💌

This book deserves 5/5 ⭐ from me! ❤️

Have you ever read a book that wrecked you so much, because at certain level, you relate so much to the characters in the novel. And on top of that, it spoiled your mood and emotion for the rest of the day after reading it. This, this is it - Ready Alert for Love.

I knew this book will hook me once I started it because I cannot left it at home in Semanggol Perak. Instead, I had to bring it to my trip to Tasik Kenyir Terengganu. Even though I only resumed my reading after Tasik Kenyir trip, which is when I stay overnight in Penarik Terengganu, but I felt so attracted to read it till the end. Only when the journey back home to KL, I managed to read it in car non stop for about 3 hours until the last page.

When Luna set up an app - Ready Alert for Losers, to recognise problematic guys at their university, she had enough because her sister, Jinni always fall for the wrong guys. But when a guy named Emery came and persist to approach Luna to delete his name in the app, Luna started to fall for him because Emery was always there when something embarrassing happened to Luna regarding her personal self or even involving her family.

The existence of the application is really interesting. I like the story telling of this story that revolve around it. How girls be thankful to Luna for his dedication, and also how sometimes this app brings disaster to the user.

This novel touched some of the engaging issues regarding siblings, family and love. All of these issues feels close to my heart. I can't fathom with what happened to their parent, but it was way beyond my imagination that their parent can be that way. It is exhausting and pitiful, but I like how the author put the ending of Luna and Jinni with their parent.

As for Luna and Emery, oh God, I love the dynamic of their relationship, from the beginning, towards the end, and also when Luna finds out the truth on how Emery approached her. Towards the end, this novel hurts me so much, especially regarding Luna and Jinni with their mom, and also Luna and Emery scene. The quote, "Do you really think relationships built from lies could last?" wounded me so deep I wanna cried so bad, but I can't, because I was in a car with my friends. I just cried a little.

This novel also makes me think deep about my past self. Hopefully I will be brave enough to put a proper closure so that my heart will be at ease.

Ready Alert for Love 🌺

Coming from a dysfunctional family, Luna has always harboured a deep-rooted hate towards men. It also doesn’t help that her sister, Jinni kept dating some red flag losers. So Luna birthed RAFL (Red Alert For Losers) an app to recognise problematic guys in their university to help them stay away from these guys.

That is until a Psychology major hottie approached Luna, claiming that his name being on the app was a mistake. And under some circumstances, Emery and Luna found themselves in a “fake-dating” situation. It was through this that they started getting closer and to Luna’s surprise, she quite like Emery’s company. Her heart looms with strange, unrecognisable feelings and her eyes would always search for him in the crowd. For the first time in life, Luna had thought that maybe not all men are bad.

Emery Song — THIS MAN!!! Literally words of affirmation king! He is the sunshine to Luna’s midnight rain, the sun to her moon, her light at the end of the tunnel. The way his words comfort Luna and how he listens to her whenever she’s in distress 🥹 This man is just so sweet how could you not love him omg!

Luna Choi — She is my star! Such a girlboss character, I love her! But as I get to know her, I really just wanna give her the warmest hugs. Luna may look tough on the outside but really, her heart is so fragile after all those years she went through :(  Her eldest daughter rage is valid, I felt it too and I know it all too well 🥹 Personally, her character is really well written, her raw emotions were delivered so well that they resonate on a visceral level.

This novel’s exploration of family conflict is heartbreaking to me. It tackles the theme of childhood trauma, and how it has a long-term effect on a person. The siblings relationship is tender and it touched me the core that I teared up 😭 The fact that this author has such a way with words made the conflict all the more heartbreaking 💔

The language used is pretty straightforward and accessible, which makes this book a great choice for beginners and people whose English are not their usual read. And I absolutely love the use of simple metaphors in this book. Yes they are very direct but they are woven perfectly into the narrative, which added more depth into the writing and making it more beautiful.

One of my favourites is:
“She forgot he was the sun. He might have helped her see things clearer that she ultimately forgot his true form. She dared to stare straight at the sun to steal him for herself, but it blinded her sight.”

Pretty simple, but effective right?

At its core, it feels like this book was written for the hyper-independent women, the eldest daughters, who had to grow up quickly and whose growth goes unseen. This book feels like a hug that envelops me in warmth, while telling me that I did well in life 🤍🥹

if you love tropes like:
⚠️ fake dating
⚠️ enemies to lovers
⚠️ grumpy x sunshine
⚠️ family & sibling relationship heavy
⚠️ a strong protagonist, learning to scrape the pieces where love is shattered into fragments

i absolutely adored this book, it has so much plot, and it does a great job dealing with luna’s personal life, her navigating friendship, a dysfunctional family, her relationship with her younger sister, opening up for the first time and just bearing the burden of loving the people around her too much ⋆˙⟡♡

this is an ode to the first child girlies out there, the perfectionist and the ones who bear too much burden from being the mature one, the independent one, the responsible one. this is a love story, but it is also a story about love, all forms of love. <3

i loved the overall arc of the plot, and it deals with a lot of heavier topics, but i still think it is a beautiful read for me, one that i may revisit in the future ౨ৎ ˖ ࣪⊹

Well well well.. i finished it at one-sitting. Such a good book.

Luna.. i want to hug you.. hug you tightly. Pat on your shoulder girl! You deserve to be happy. You're a strong and brave girl. You going to be a great mother.. someday! This book is for you if you are the eldest! The story tell you more the struggle being the eldest.

Their toxic parents doesnt deserve Luna and Jinni. I was sooo angry when i read about their parents.

I like Emery characters. Yes he is a green flag. He is the Sun and Luna is a Moon. I like the way Emery called Luna wildflower. You are going to fall for him. Believe me 😍

I was like Jinni before.. had too many relationship with wrong persons just because i hate being alone.. Just wanted to be loved.

Sometimes red flags didnt look like red flags when we feel like home

5/5 ⭐️

I thought this story would just be about a girl who hates some boys and creates an app called RAFL, designed to alert girls—especially her little sister—about bad boys. But I didn’t expect the story to twist like this.

Emery Song is the ultimate green flag guy. Not to mention, his appearance is also green (eh 😂). I love his calm, soothing, and helpful nature, especially towards Luna Choi—the eldest daughter who had to endure all the pain caused by her parents alone.

This book is packed with tropes, so if you enjoy:

✿ Grumpy x Sunshine
✿ Enemies to Lovers
✿ Family Conflict

Give this book a try!

"I feel sick, I feel like the sole purpose of my living is to only solve and serve other people's problems. Why do I need to keep telling people what should be done? Why isn't that common sense?"

This book feels like it's written specially for the eldest daughters and people pleaser girlies. The way Luna cares so much about people around her without noticing how much she had hurt herself, the way she tried her best to heal other people's hearts not knowing she tore her own apart, everything the author puts into this story is so raw and relatable. I also love how emery is there for her the whole time but also giving her space when needed, I wish we could see more of them tbh :). (Btw I cried so much during Luna and her mom last scene, author whyyyy)
And lastly the father is the definition of✨ jantanz tak guna ✨the way he treats Luna is so horrible I cannot forgive him for that.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5!

this book was not I expected it to be. It was so emotionally wrecked me because of some luna’s traits is so relatable. Emery Song has no red flag at ALL, a walking green forest. He can cook, a whole psychiatrist, HAS A DIMPLE and probably has words of affirmation love language because just the way he talks 🙂‍↔️ luna story is so beautifully painful (idk if that’s makes sense) especially her ass parents 😒 so so glad she stood up for herself.

just like luna i had no idea how to express myself, so this is just right

I wasn’t expecting to read such an emotional book, and RAFL was one emotional roller coaster ride. It was in essence watching a emotional K-Drama. At the start of the book, it was a bit choppy, with some abruptness to the story's structure, and the writing style drove me a little crazy. When I passed the 25% mark, the story started to settle in, and I was able to enjoy it.

Luna, our FL, has always disliked men in general due to growing up in a broken family. So much so that she created an app, RAFL (Red Alert For Loser Guys), that will pinpoint red flag guys in the university to anyone and give them some warning to stay away from these guys. One day, she was approached by Emery Song, who claimed that his name was added to the app by mistake. Being Luna, she ignores him throughout, but little by little, Emery worms her way into her life. Circumstances also lead to some “fake-dating” between both of them.

It’s majorly sweet to see a relationship blossom between two kindred spirits who could not be so different. Luna is such a grump, and it’s lovely to see how Emery slowly breaks down Luna’s shields. Luna learns to care about a guy for the first time and realizes that all men are not bad. My heart breaks for her as she has to deal with the dysfunctional mum and dad, which leads to major family conflicts along the way. It’s also enlightening to see how, as the eldest, she is used to stepping up or protecting her younger sister, Jinni, regardless of the consequences she faces. I’m just glad she has some support from her two friends and Emery. Also, Emery would be a “green-flag” alert instead of a red flag - the fact that he brings her to cafes to indulge in her love for coffee while he doesn’t drink any is ladidaaa…

The essence of this book is about learning to love yourself and put yourself first, learning to set boundaries, learning to share your problems with your friends rather than bottling them up, and learning that not everything needs to be fixed.

I will preface this review with the acknowledgement that this book is the author's debut English book, not written in her first language, so do note that the writing does reflect the cultural differences of how people talk and grammar elements.

That being said, I really enjoyed that. Though the writing was hard to get into at first, I really connected with the characters and ended up absolutely loving this book.

The MC is prickly and wary of men and love, after seeing her parents' marriage fall apart and her sister being used and abused by her boyfriends. I loved how this book was about self-love, boundaries, and acknowledging when you're wrong. Luna's growth was magnificent and a lot of that was with the help of Emery. He really helped her reflect and I loved how he stood up for her against her parents, but also against her own self-hatred. Emery was the king of green flags, and I adored him with all my heart.

The biggest red flag in this story was Luna's parents. They were the absolute worst and really gave off toxic family vibes. I loved how they were dealt with and how both Luna and her sister grew through this story relative to their parents.

All in all, I loved this book's concept and the characters. I hope one day this book can get published by a Western publisher because it's truly a fantastic story that deserves all the hype!

Rep: IBS related to stress, colorblind MC
TW: harassment, sexism, violence, blood, injury detail, verbal abuse, gaslighting, suicidal ideation, domestic abuse, toxic family, alcohol, toxic relationship; mentions alcohol addiction, miscarriage, pregnancy, stalking

this book deserves more recognition!! my honest review, i would give 4.1/5!

anyways, this is not like typical grumpy x sunshine trope but its more than that! if you want to read romance book, i guess you might find it boring because the author focused on the family and fl’s story. oh yeah, this book is a bit.. heavy.. i had to pause for awhile when the part Lu fought with her family. i was soo MAD and stressed. the family is so toxic. i mean even until the end, no character development but im glad Lu chose herself cuz after all the bullshit they have done to Lu.

is this highly recommend? YESS!!!! dont worry, the ml is A WHOLE GREEN FOREST!! and the plot twist i kinda expected it but okay both feelings were valid. so i understand both.

AS I EXPECTED FROM MANES! they never disappoints me!

I love the plot, the writing, the character development and even the ending! This book got me crying every time Luna mustered up her courage to spill the burden she felt.

For many times, I totally forgot the author is Malaysian cause it seems familiar to western authors' way of writing hahah.

I'm looking forward from the author more in the future!

An absolute enjoyable read for me. I don't expect it to be a cute rom-com because I do read the blurb before purchasing it, but there are parts that made me swoon and plastered a wide smile on my face.

One of the things that I like about it, it's that despite the main female character, Luna, being a men-hater (which is understandable as to why), I found that it's not too much. She doesn't become this annoying female character which is an instant ick for me because one doesn't need to be extremely annoying or rude just to be independent. Luna is cold, but she's not rude. She cares and she apologises when she needs to be. She got ego, but she thought and owned her mistake when there's one. There were part where I feel like girl... this is not it but hey, I was like that one. Luna kind of reminds me of the younger me. Thank God, I got mature 😃

There are room of improvements of course. I wish Emery is a little more flawed. He is a good character but too good to be true. There are flaws, like as to how he approached Luna (you'll know if you read it), and his entire life isn't always rainbows and unicorns, but I wish there are more little things that made me feel like, oh he is human too. Other than that, he is good. He lives up to his name, Tae-yang or sun. An absolute sunshine, a gorgeous one if according to how he's described in the book. We all need the other half that brings the best out of us, and that's what Emery is to Luna.

Writer left a content warning at the early page of the book, which includes abuse, childhood trauma and depression. Nothing really graphic but I think if you're really concern about these issues in your reading, you might want a head up. For me, it's still light, but you might really want to personally acted out a physical violence towards Luna's father and her mother too, I guess. And I applaud the writer for bringing the emotion out of me. The characters were written well. They are hateful and deserved to be hated.

The romance is so cute. It's kind of a slow burn, their progress is realistic in my opinion. From strangers, to acquittances, to friends, having crush on each other, and lovers (kind of). They are the cutest! I root for them so hard. There's no grand gesture to show it, but I've always loved little things that's so precious rather than grand gesture to express romance.

Characters development is *chef kiss*. Everyone got their closure and they're not the same as they were at the first half of the book. I'm talking about the protagonists, yes, because they deserve all the good things and I'm glad the life in this book treat them well. They grow up, and some grows even closer. I love it 🫶🏼

Overall, this is an enjoyable reading for me. It's fun, it's emotional, it made me tear up, and most importantly, I can relate to it even if not as a whole. Eldest daughter, you know what I mean. The girls who always bottle up their feelings so it's not going to be a burden to people around them? You might find yourself here. Girls who is scared to fall in love just to avoid being hurt? Yes.

This review has been a little too long than I plan, SO, I recommend everyone to give it a try. For those who wants to start reading an English novel, or a book with a simple and not too flowery language, this may be a good start. Looking forward for more books from the author, and maybe the rom-com that she initially planned for RAFL 😂

Tmi, I rarely cry because of English books. I once read a book recommended by the booktok girlies saying it was painful that they cried so badly but fgs— I didn’t. Till then, I thought I was melancholy stuck with Malay poetic lines in terms of sad-romance/melodrama books😂 yet, this book changed me. RAFL teared me up more than thrice. I’m dragging you into jail sis @raffeera

Emery Song — fully Korean-blood with a light brown hair and eyes, Psychology major hottie, loves to hear Trivia:Love by BTS, love language: words of affirmation, and he tends to notice little things about his so-called-girlfriend (Luna) eventhough Luna didn’t speak about it out loud😩🫶🏻 the fact that he risked his reputation just to get close with his wildflower (iykyk. Read to find out 🤪) his flirts are subtle but manage to make me blush so hard!!! Thus, Emery’s love for Luna didn’t evem fade after years of not meeting. Just how loyal he is?!?! BOYFRIEND MATERIAL IM SIGNING UP!

Luna Choi She’s a half-british & half-korean blood who loves doing things by her own, without no one distracting. To me, Lu is born to be pampered but was forced to be indepedant☹️ I swear if I were to meet Luna in this life, I want to pull her in my embrace and just tell her that she did a great job and all the family conflicts that happened, wasn’t her fault. Not to forget girlie issa swiftie, let’s free up some time for a karaoke day, shall we, Lu? 🫢 i love how Luna doesn’t rush her time in getting into a relationship with Emery because after all that happened, eventhough her love towards Emery are more than anyone could expect. Instead, she provided time to love and appreciate herself more🥺 If we don’t love ourself, then how do we love others, am I right?

plot — realistic and super duper cuuuute! Hurt comfort, i can say! To all beginner readers, fret not because Raffeera’s English words are easy to understand. Loving the premise and build up so much! Not to forget the friendship between the three girlies are so pure that I cried when Luna finally wants to crash the wall the she’d been building on the night she tells them her problems🤍 every eldest daughter in this world needs their own Emery Song, for all the struggles we faced, for all the unspeakable thoughts we always had, we need reassurances just like what Emery gave to Luna!🥹 i would say i’m not satisfied enough with Janice’s ending but i do understand the way Raffeera wants to convey that family doesn’t mean it has to be with someone who has a blood-related with us. Friends can be a family to us and someone that loves us unconditionally without any doubt and treat us nicely also deserves to be called a family.

Pssst… i don’t know if this was mentioned in any reviews, but i love Jinni’s character development so much! 💓🫵🏻 As Luna deserves to get her own happy ending, Jinni deserves to receive the love from the right place too! No worries babe, I got your back for always having ‘RnR’ in love life😂

Thank you for articulating this wonderful piece, Rafi deserves all the love from bookstagrams in this industry, okay? 🫶🏻💕 I had a tremendous time reading it. congratulations again on your debut book, i hope to see your upcoming projects in the future!!

Ready Alert for Love 🐶🌙✨🌸

I’m quite surprised at how this book took turns. At first, I thought it was just a simple, cute story about a girl who hates a boy, then the boy flirts with the girl, and the girl loves the boy. NOPE! it was not as simple as that.

I admire their love story, but it was more than that. It was when Emery allowed Luna to be herself, providing a safe space for her and accepting her for who she is.

Luna is a girl who was not given enough love and attention to her feelings while growing up. I think that's why she unconsciously became a pathological people pleaser. Eventually, it was too much for her, and I understand that.

You listen to others because no one else would listen to you. You care about others because no one cares about you. People like Luna would only want one thing: for their efforts to be reciprocated and their feelings to be validated.

I always have this thought that nobody’s life is perfect. You might have a good family relationship but lack in the friendship side, or vice versa.

It's just that we need to remember that there is always someone who loves you. Even if it's not your family, there will always be someone else—friends and your loved ones. Allah is The Embodiment of Justice, and He will never leave you alone to face His challenges in this world.

“I’m sorry. They just don’t know you’re hurting too.” —Emery Song

Emery has his own issues, but the way he tackles them deserves a hug :,). He understands his situation and deals with it. He becomes independent, and learns that he loves his family best from afar. He must feel lonely too, but he is blessed with a supportive circle of friends, and the same goes for Luna.

I love how this story ends. I love how Luna finally understands that to love others and to be loved, she needs to be ready to receive love. The way the author describes Emery as the sun that shines on Luna to see life from a new perspective is just perfect for me.

In life, you meet different people for different purposes, and not everyone is meant to stay. Despite the good or bad experiences, everyone will eventually leave a lesson for you to learn from.

To Raffeera, you did a superb job. I REALLY, REALLY like your writing style. You know how to write sad things. In that case, I hope you are taking care of yourself as well ;) Your author note is really something else; I like your honesty. *pls dont cry a lot while working on your next book.* Thank you for writing this book; it reached me.

Final verdict? Solid 5/5 <3
Love it to the heart.

So, are you ready for love?

Thoughts 💭:

This will be my first ever English novel review woo! Ngl this novel did woke me from my reading slump just how relatable Luna is to me 🥹

The writing style, the plot, the rollercoaster of emotions I read thru this novel. This is the first ever book I felt so much close to the main character. Is Luna INFP perhaps? 🤣 All the hardships she went thru as a friend, as an older sister, as the first child in the family 😭 I love how flawed all the characters are in this novel. And just how realistic it is to the real life. The story itself is sad and my people pleaser mode triggered while reading this 🥹

The characters in here are just *chef's kiss* The dad was and is a jerk 😤 The mom too, ngl. After what Luna gone thru for them yet, they don't appreciate her. The hero, Emery Song, indeed a hottie tho but he may be slighty 5% 🚩 but it's okay! He good at the end 🤭 Luna had a character development in the end hehe

Overall thoughts, I love this book. I love how relatable it is to my life, and Luna, you are one strong women to faced all those people and problems, props to Luna 👏👏👏 It has around 10% romance so anyone who can't handle sad and traumatic stories, ready alert! 🚨

Brief synopsis :
Luna Choi one goal is only to protect her sister. Thus, she developed a specific app which is called Ready Alert for Losers (RAFL) to keep her sister from falling in love with a wrong guy. But, her move were deemed overprotective and thus were not deeply appreciated by her sister, Jinni Choi. Regardless, RAFL serves its own purpose in helping thousands other girls to avoid a 'red-flag' guy. But what would happen when an innocent man claimed that his name was mistakenly added in RAFL ? Can Luna find out the truth ? and can she be able to amend her relationship with her sister ?

I really deeply wanted to love this book as much as everybody else but unfortunately I can't seem to enjoy much while reading 🙁

The plot was so good. An avoidant-attachment girl in a process of discovering herself and to be able to heal, forgive and move from her past. Obviously, Luna has been through a lot. Having an ignorant parents who doesn't love her enough and leaving her alone to patch things up. And throughout her life, she's been forced to mend things that are not her responsibility. And thus, she became a people-pleaser instead. And this book is just honestly like a comfort words for someone like me who desperately needed to hear.

The characters; EMERY SONG IS EVERYTHING. I love him so much, his softness, being a total gentleman & his comfort words towards Luna. I also enjoyed most of the character development. Luna itself and including her own sister.

Despite all of that, I felt like the plot get's a little bit too draggy. Some of the scenes can quite be repetitive and some of the parts are like literally dreading me while reading. Maybe if the pace is not too slow, I could enjoyed reading it more and more.

Overall, thank-you to the author who decided to indulge in a really heavy topic and even write a book about it. Will always support for her next project ❤️

Pros : Storyline & Emery.
The story centers around Luna and her family. What happened to Luna that made her to behave like that? Why did Jinny hates Luna? Why Luna hated her parents so much? All that was answered in a good storyline. There were few scenes that caught me off guard. When reading, I was like “what the heck?!”- for the plot twist.
People who know me well, will know how much I love an educated woman/couple. Hence, this couple got 5/5 rating because this is what we say “sekufu” haa gituuu. I love what Luna did for women out there in the book. She uses her knowledge for a better cause.
And also, I love the character development for Luna - Jinni, Luna-Jinni-Alex. So cuteeeee.
Emery. A sweet guy. 🍃 flag. I love how he gives assurance to Luna whenever she needs it. Someone who is calm and literally takes you out from the misery. I love that he understood what is the meaning of listening, communication & comprehension.

“We might be fake dating in front of your family, but I’m not your boyfriend alone, I’m also your friend. So, you can always speak your worries confidently to me, because I’ll listen.”
.
Cons : Conflict + Ending
I mean, I want more of Luna + Emery ending!! How can you robbed us the ending that we deserved?!
Don’t get me wrong - I love the ending, but trust me, if you read the novel, you literally wanted more than that.
For the conflict between Luna & Emery, actually for me, it’s not that bad. In my opinion, shouldn’t be a conflict and Luna just exaggerating it. But I don’t know for anyone else. Let me know your opinion.
.
Conclusion : Worth reading novel. For those who wanted to try English novel, try opt for this one. It’s light - you don’t have to think that much while reading this 🫶🏻

Kudos to Raffeera!

This book tells the story of a girl who, disillusioned with love and dealing with unresolved issues with her father and an unemotionally available mother, creates an app called "Red Alert for Loser Guys." The app compiles information about problematic guys at her university, categorizing them as red flags. Her collaborator on this project is a guy who falls for her first and falls harder.

But this story goes beyond just romantic themes. It delves into the complexities of being the eldest daughter and the scars left by parental abuse. The narrative shows how love often comes in the most unexpected ways and through the most unexpected people. It highlights that unpredictability is what makes love special and unique—it often finds us when we least expect it, through people we may not have imagined.

The book underscores that true love isn't about needing someone to always be with us but rather about loving someone for who they are. True love is rooted in the admiration and acceptance of another person's individuality, not just their presence. It's a deep connection that celebrates who they are at their core, making the bond meaningful and genuine.

------

She say, "Dont hold on to me. If you find someone you like better, go for her"
He replied, "Even if I roam to every place in this world, I wouldn't find someone I could love greater than I love you, Wildflower."

this book is an ode to all the first child girlies out there. the one who carries all the burden for being the most mature one. the independent and responsible one. this book is for you guys.

i adored the story so much that i felt connected with the characters. the way Luna dealing with her dysfunctional family, her relationship with her younger sister, friends and her love life with Emery Song.

Luna’s character has sooo much development and i love that. i love how strong yet vulnerable she is. the she cares so much people around her without even noticing how much she had hurt herself. she’s very brave and i’m really happy with ending that she got. she deserves everything nice in this world and yup she deserves Emery. Emery is soooooooooo gentleman i love his character and how he’s being soooo golden retriever coded. guys we literally got grumpy x sunshine but she’s the grumpy and he’s the sunshine. how can you not love that.

overall, this was actually very emotional book. so many relatable and painful quotes in this book i loved it. if you have a dysfunctional family you could probably relate to this. Luna’s parents are just not worth it to be her parents at all. i feel so bad for her. i just hope no one gets to feel what Luna feels because that’s very painful.

oh please i love this kind of book so much!! i figure i need to reread it again to feel more abt the book 🤧

- fake dating
- enemies to lovers (kinda)
- heavy family conflicts
- sunshine × grumpy

we need rafl to exist in real life! the story begins when luna birthed the app to keep away the red flag men from girls in her uni bc of her sister. everything went well until the greenest forest ml appear named emery, wanted to talk to luna since his name is in the app. the story went on and on when emery started to become luna's comfort person (also her crush). for me, the author wrote the emotions of each of the character really well. luna's story really broke me which as an eldest daughter, i can relate with some of it. i think i read this book at the wrong time since this week is a busy week and i thought the book will be just fluffy romance WHICH IS NOT 🥲🥲 giving this one a 4 for now until i reread it again 🤭🫶🏻

Personally, I don't like overly bitter character like Luna but I understand why she's like that. I jumped into this book expecting a cute romcom but it's actually quite depressing.

Luna is a very push-pull type of person and it gets a bit tiring. One moment she snaps at Emery, the next she takes care of him and follows him home huh hello??? This is the man-hater Luna? Why is she so easily swayed😭 I think that part was a bit weird and rushed (overstepping 'slowly lowering their boundaries' kind).

Emery is the whole green forest, but for some reason I wasn't really attached too. Is it me? Am I the drama? (Probably). I feel like his too-nice persona doesn't really suit the 'I faked this and that to get closer to you tactic'.

Otherwise it's pretty cute but personally I'd love a little slow burn. Their relationship developed a little too quickly for my liking.

At a first glance, it looks like it will be your typical angsty romance book. Boy, I was wrong.

Reading the prologue itself intrigue me and this burning sensation I have - it's been a while since a book had captured my full attention.

Even though they have put a disclaimer in the beginning, those scene (iykyk) triggers me where I have to deliberately put down the book and take a breather. To read it in written form and all the details, I have to applause the author on a job well done. You nailed it.

Emery, I like you - you're cute, a gentleman funny kind of guy but you're way too of a green flag, it makes you kinda sus hahaha

The thing I feel that lacks a bit is his family's relationship background. There's one part where he explains and confides that looks like he understood Luna's pain - as if he had the same situation as she did, but it was never reveal in the book. Now thinking about it, I'm not entirely sure if the act are intend as a mean to get close to her or if he really genuinely knows her pains.

Other than that, highly recommend this book!

Ready Alert for Love [ 4.13 / 5 ]

This story is about one poor soul whose heart have been shattered mercilessly. when this soul slowly drown in the vast of sea, comes the faint lights of sunrise illuminate the helpless soul and treat it like a rare gem.

i like how Emery didn't give up on Luna and even helping her get through her situations. And, i like Luna for being there for herself to fight her own shadow.

It's true, she needed just one push to end and start it all.

The story was good and entertaining, it's suitable for people who want to read light romance. There might be trigger warnings about mental health and blood, but it was not severe.

I love this book so soo much! because it is related to many kinds of love:

Love in friendship
Love among family
Love with your partner (crush)

I can never imagine how I would deal if I'm in Luna's shoes. Being born in a broken family. Never get the love she deserves from her parents. Glad she has supporting friends & crush hehe. I hope will get that kind of crush too like Emery

Raffeera describes the characters' outfit so well that I can imagine it ><

It's a light story but packed hmm idk how to describe it
