First of all, I have high expectations for this book. But then, it's not as good as I expected, in my opinion. I have a lot to say about this book, including the characters, the plot of the story, and the unnecessary scenes.
Disclaimer: This is my own opinion; do correct me if I'm wrong or misread the characters.
Let's start with the female main character (FMC), Edlynn. I like that she's a plus-sized girl in this book, as the author has stated. But then, things don't make sense when she has been in love with Aqeel ever since she was 8 years old? Really? At that young age, did you fall in love that fast? I can accept if it's a "cinta monyet" though. I hate how she is always seeking male validation to boost her confidence. Girl, you should know your self-worth, a worth that you don't have to seek a male's attention to be confident. Long story short, I don't like Edlynn's character.
Talking about her other two friends which is Aleesha and Liza, they're sucks. No offence, but if I were Edlynn, I would not hesitate to cut them both off for the sake of my happiness. I have nothing to say about them both since you guys know their attitude in this book. Their trio friendship is so TOXIC that it hurts my brain. I'm sorry, but I hate them so much.
About the male main character (MMC), who is Aqeel, well, I have nothing much to say about him. He's indeed a sweet talker, romantic, and a gentleman, sure. But like everyone said, he likes to daydream just like Edlynn. I barely find any cute scenes in this book, and it's hard for me to tabs my book down.
It would be better if it's a dual point of view (POV) from Edlynn and Aqeel. I want to know what is going on inside Aqeel's mind so badly. It's frustrating and draining to read ONLY Edlynn's POV. I hope the author can take inspiration from the international authors about doing a dual or multiple POVs.
Did not finish (DNF) at chapter 20 and above because it's too much and very cringeworthy. I swear I can't take it anymore, and it's so unnecessary for the black magic scenes. Especially the way Hazrul came out of nowhere?! I can't continue this book since it's so frustrating. The ending is so rushed, like, what do you mean suddenly epilogue, and they got married? How the hell did Aleesha just come back to apologise and act like nothing had happened?! Man, it makes me ick. Overall, I'm happy that Edlynn and Aqeel finally got married.
Last but not least, I have never read this kind of book in my entire life, to be honest. This book is not suitable for me as an adult. Maybe it's suitable for teenagers since it can feed their delusions. It's suitable for beginners to start an English book as well. No hate to the author, but I hope she can improve her writing skills because it's like directly translated from Malay. It's giving Wattpad vibes kind of style. That's all from me, thank you.
