Your girl's got a brand new job. And Washington D.C. does not know what’s going to hit it.
Okay, I might be seriously under-qualified for the job of Enforcer, I'll admit. The Enforcer is supposed to be a human, for starters. It's usually an ex-special forces guy with big muscles and even bigger balls, and a knack for sorting out petty squabbles between the witches and vampires and shifters in the city.
And I'm just a technically-dead nail tech — an animated skeleton with a talent for illusion magic and gold gel manicures. But I've recently discovered that I can manifest some pretty big muscles of my own. I've already got the big balls, so I'm halfway there.
It's the 'sorting out petty squabbles' part that I might have trouble with. I'm usually the one to start the fights, not finish them. But a girl has got to grow up sometime.
Binge all six books in this bestselling

Blood & Magic - The Bad Bones series is a fun, fast-paced urban fantasy and paranormal mystery series, with a diverse cast including witches, werewolves and shifters, vampires, pixies, and, of course, sassy skeletons. Content note for death of a child, violence/gore, mentions of SA, occasional foul language.
A raving fangirl for all things paranormal, supernatural, supernormal and fantastical, Lauretta writes fun Urban Fantasy, PNR and Superhero adventures with a dash of sweet romance and humour.
She's a massive fan of Young and New Adult fiction, loves a plot twist, hates cliffhangers, and always keeps her readers on their toes.
When she's not writing, Lauretta enjoys fad diets, sunshine, her two little children, weird craft projects and massive amounts of dark chocolate
You know how you stumble upon a new author through the whims of kindle unlimited and you think to yourself man I hope they have a ton of books I can read now? Lauretta Hignett is one of those authors. Somehow her books strike the perfect balance of strong female lead who doesn’t need a man but there is still romance and a story that is so interesting and compelling you don’t want to put it down but light enough for a perfect escape. Great news too she has a ton of books. I’m going to happily read them all
Outstanding characters, plots, w world-building, and more. Would make an epic blockbuster movie and script. A twist on zombiehood, with all the supe types and human characters you could hope for. Exceptional storytelling! Binge the whole series!!!
I read an Anthology (Magically Wild) with a story by this author in it that I really liked, so I decided to try one of her series, and I am so glad I did. Each book in this series is action packed, full of humor and wonderful characters, Prue, Max and all her friends. Now I am off to start another of her series.
I loved reading this! There were some seriously scary and suspenseful parts (I’m highly allergic to suspense) but I put it down for a short time and then had to continue reading because the story is tremendously addictive. A wonderful perspective on the whole paranormal trope.
Rampaging battles and evil villains. Wonderful good guys fighting impossible odds. Evil government and a cast of amazing good guys. A delightful escape to an alternate world.
Loved the originality of the character!! I didn’t want any harm to come to her, or ANY of the people she loved!! They became my family too!! I didn’t know Sandy had a story also! Guess where I’m going next? LOL
I got introduced to this world through Prue's friend Sandy's series (Foils and Fury), then I went back in time to read Imogen's series (Imogen Gray), THEN I read Prue's series which is in this omnibus. (After that I read Chloe's series, Waif in the Wilds.)
I shouldn't say I READ them because I DEVOURED them. Every one of these books is great! Prue is drawn deeper and deeper into problems with supernaturals in DC but with world-wide complications. She kicks butt and can manifest her appearance and skills at will, and I loved seeing how she grows into her powers and her relationships. She's also snarky, which I absolutely love.
You CAN read this series before Imogen Gray and Foils and Fury, but I recommend reading the books in order so you have the complete picture of what's going on with each of the protagonists. They're so good, and I can't say enough about them!
I've given this five stars for pure fun and escapism. If you need something to read distract you from the troubles of the rise of fascism and environmental collapse this is the perfect series. A journey of utter nonsense in a word somewhat like our own. A page turning adventure. A story of broken families and very bad baddies. Within the adventure the author takes time to make some very thoughtful points about many topics. I particularly liked her empathetic portrayal of a character with an alcohol addiction. I came to this after reading a series where the main character Prue was a side character and it was lovely to hear her story. I was thoroughly entertained and even she a little tear at the end due to one character's redemption arc. I'll definitely be looking out for more by this author.
Pru is technically dead she is an animated skeleton that can project a body to cover up that she is the way she is. And now she has a new job to be the city enforcer for D.C. if she could get them to take her seriously! Pru is trying to keep everyone in line plus keep blood witches from calling a high fae known as the beast. It is also time to start exploring what all her magic can do. Even if finding out changes how everyone looks at her she has to get it under control so she can take care of all the people she loves.
The origins of the main character are unique, this is really treat to read. If you like fantasy paranormal books you’ll enjoy this twist, even the second time reading this series through I appreciated the different new species of fantasy character.
I’ve read all of Lauretta’s books that tie in with this one. While I enjoyed Sandy and Chloe’s stories more, this was still a great read. There was a point in the middle there where I drifted away from the story. It did get a little tiresome for me but glad I finished it.
I have looked at this series a few times but passed. Then I picked up Imogen Grey’s series. This is a continuation from there and its a glorious world of friends and lovers defeating evil forces in community.
Loved this omnibus! Likeable characters who I really cared about. Now I'm going back to the beginning with Imogen Gray to thoroughly enjoy the earlier stories.
Bad bones!! She’s kicking butt and taking names. I always love a strong female character who don’t take crap from anyone and Prue is definitely one tough bitch.
