I was really excited to see this collaborative venture with two incredible authors (and a space horror to boot! Yay!).

David and Boris created a claustrophobic, suspenseful, menacing storyline with a number of interesting characters. If this was just trimmed down a bit (the numerous voyages across the space station did make me feel weary to read), and the ending on the lower level clarified a bit more (what was actually going on with the artifact? Its purpose) I think this would have been a 5 star read for me!

What I really enjoyed were the initial exploratory scenes by Cunningham’s crew on “Cerberus”, when they were traversing the eerie darkness. I also liked the depth of the characters’ complexities, common grief, personalities, etc that became more and more distorted as time went on.

“God creates man. Man creates machines. Machines replace man. Machines become God.”

Astrophobia is one of the most clever books I've ever read. When you combine Psychological Mindf*uck Viergutz and Atmosphere King Bacic, you get this beautifully horrifying space story that you can't help but cringe away from and glue your eyes to!

My one gripe with any science fiction trope that tries to blend into horror is that the author always focuses so heavily on the technology that it takes away from the story. Well folks, you don't need an engineering or aeronautics degree to read this one! Astrophobia is the perfect blend that gives me a solid understanding of the tech without being overbearing to more technical than necessary. My lack of knowledge of space technology did not hinder my reading of this at all, and I'm thankful to both authors for that.

I had so much anxiety reading this, and I swear I felt more paranoid than the characters themselves. I had to remind myself to physically uncurl since I had twisted into an anxious pretzel the farther I got in the book. It's so tense and claustrophobic in places, and the corrupted files straight out gave me chills. It was so unsettling to see and imagine!

I loved the characters, and they really pulled me into the story. I had to keep reading to see what would happen to them and how things would continue to devolve in the Cerberus. I also loved how ambiguous the big bad was; it wasn't a huge scary monster, but something more nuanced and subtle, which made this all the more terrifying.

Honestly, major contender for Book of the Year for me! I can't say enough good things about this, and Astrophobia is a fantastic example of how amazing space horror and psychological horror can be.

OK, my personal take on ‘Astrophobia’ is…
The Backrooms…
... In Space!
A mercenary crew lost, haunted, and hunted in a maze. With some definite Event Horizon vibes in the background.

The space station has been silent for some time. Where are the hundreds of people who’d been staying there? Where are the children? What’s happened to the families? Something was brought on the station. A reality-warping, a mind-warping object found deep under a distant planet’s surface. What is it? It’s time to find out!

The story plays out as a terrific science fiction horror movie: astronauts hired to get on a space station where something sinister has been waiting for them, something usually encountered in a malevolent haunted house. They are systematically hunted and haunted by that spectral, faceless, intangible thing. They’re scared. They want to go home. But so does that evil thing in the station. “We’re all going home” – a mantra repeated everywhere in this hell. What’s going on?

Dave Viergutz and Boris Bacic have all the answers. Or do they? Both masters of the creepy and the horrifically weird, they’ve combined their powers to create a book of technological and astrobiological terror, perfectly made for horror and science-fiction afficionados who like their fiction heavy on rotting tech and possessed gadgets, thick with paranoia and anxiety-induced insanity, and lots of claustrophobia!

This is a great book.

This was a dope read! Space horror has definitely been my vibe as of late and Astrophobia delivered. This is a well written claustrophobic journey with plenty of creepiness.

The book is paced well and the characters become fleshed out as the book progresses. The ship crew kind of blended together in the beginning but then became fairly distinct as the story progressed.

This book has some seriously creepy scenes. The ending and some aspects of the plot are subjective, so if lack of resolution is something that bothers you, this may be one to avoid.

Overall I really enjoyed it. I’d be hoping to read some Boris Bacic lately and David Viergutz was awesome, too. Highly recommend.

When I first started reading Astrophobia I wasn’t sure what lay between its covers but I must say it was way better than I ever anticipated. Astrophobia pulled me into its world from the moment I began to read I was lost.

It made me feel as if I was a member of the crew. I felt as if I was a part of Astrophobia’s world. In so many ways Astrophobia is unlike anything I have read before but at the same time, I had a sense of deja vu. Astrophobia reminded me of so many TV shows and movies. Astrophobia reminded me of a few TV shows like The Ark, The Orville, and Dark Matter.

I would love to see Astrophobia made into a movie or TV show. A TV show would be better in my opinion as TV shows last longer. I would also love to read more stories from Astrophobia’s world.

Astrophobia was so intense it kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next. The suspense was agony. It kept me waiting and waiting. I didn’t know how much longer I was going to be able to withstand the pressure of not knowing as I raced to the end.

I hated to see the end appear as I didn’t want it to end. I could have kept reading for days. I love stories like this and can’t ever get enough of them. I am always looking for books, TV shows, or movies like Astrophobia, and when I can’t find what I am looking for I will watch the shows over and over. Astrophobia is one book that I will read again and again. It will always have a spot on my to-be-read list.

I highly recommend Astrophobia to all horror or sci-fi fans. Grab a copy of Astrophobia today!

This book. I sit here trying to think of a way to articulate how much this story had my brain in a vice grip of intrigue, shock, trepidation, and awe at its conclusion. I felt like I was a crew member myself, and I was right there with them experiencing every psychological turmoil. Astrophobia is the best space related book I've ever read, hands down. The characters are so well developed that I could easily see them as real people, going through real terrors. Despite several characters and chapters switching perspectives, I never once felt lost or missing out in any of the story. Astrophobia did not disappoint, and I'm hoping this turns into a series because I am not ready to let go of what I read. 10/10 and one of the most highest recommended books I suggest you read if you're into space and horror.

What an incredible read by two of my favorite authors. After reading this book, I know that I will never be volunteering to visit another planet. The creeping dread is so real that many times I had to look around my setting to make sure I was still on planet Earth. The plan of an evil mind is to “divide and conquer”. This entity had no trouble using each person’s fear against them. The worst part is I became just as obsessed with trying to find some physical being that was causing the team members so much grief. Only to then realize the ship was playing mind tricks. The visualization of the complete and total isolation was definitely something I do not wish to have in my near future. A very distressful and terrifying read.

WOW! This story was crazy!

Right from the start I was captivated with the creative and detailed imagery and world building. It was so descriptive that it brought the horrifying story to life right before my eyes. I was hooked, literally on the edge of my seat biting my nails with anxiety and turning the pages quickly to see how it would all play out in the end.

It was terrifying, adrenaline inducing and extremely intense. I mean there were moments were my jaw hit the floor and I might have screamed a little bit. I know I said WTF many times throughout. And the amount of suspense woven into the story nearly killed me.

This was definitely a well written, gripping and terrifying story that left me with chills by the end.

LOVED IT!

When Aperture Mining runs into a top secret problem they contact Mercenary Neal Cunningham and his team to do reconnaissance and report back. Sounds simple enough but there is much Neal isn't being told. Soon Neal and his team find out that what was mined was something unique, something horrifying and it doesn't want them to leave! A well written fast paced sci Fi horror that grabs you and won't let you go. With a liking to Solaris and Event Horizon this book is a great read for horror and sci fans alike.

When two masters of creepy tales decide to join forces, we get a book like ‘Astrophobia’ to read.
This story is unsettling right from the start, and the terror will only increase while the story unfolds itself.
I also really liked that the character telling the story, and experiencing the scary happenings, varied per chapter.

So, in my honest opinion, an absolutely fantastic novel.
I loved every second of it, and when I finished I started right from the beginning and read it all again.

A story with a very slow burn. Some extremely tense and suspenseful moments but for me, a bit long and reminiscent of a few sci-fi "space" movies that I have seen. Also reminded me a bit of The Sphere, even though that one took place under water. All in all, not a bad read by two excellent authors.
I received a free reader's copy of this book and this is my voluntary review of the tale

Thank you so much to the Author David Viergutz for sending me an Arc copy for review.

I have never read a horror set in space before. I was gripped. all the characters are relatable and it feels like you are there with them going through all the feelings of anxiousness, fear, shock, terror. The story is really well written. I turned every page eager to know what happens next. I highly recommend this book it will have you engrossed from start to finish.

Astrophobia was such a fun read! Eerie and unsettling! Between the pace of the book and the chapters switching to each character’s perspective, it really kept me engaged. By the end, I was questioning what was real and what wasn’t. Who should and should not have been trusted? I’ve always been a fan of horror/thriller movies set in space, so I’m glad I gave it a chance in book form.

Space

Captain Neil Cunningham and his crew go deep into space to find out why the crew of the Cerbrus is not answering. Something is wrong with the station. No one is there they see and hear things. They have to find away back home before it's too late. Creepy suspense filled thriller.

A great sci fi, horror thriller.
This book has a superb setting, and good characters and for a space book, loads of atmosphere (ha ha). I was so excited to read this and was very happy with it. It touches on so much that I love in the genre.
I am a sci fi movie and book junkie, and the only faults (for me), were that the first part is a bit too long, and that bits of it is a little too reminicent of Event Horizon, which is a movie I love, but I would get taken out of this story and think of scenes from that movie. Again, I have read and seen a lot of sci fi so I see familiarities, you may not, but the book does have a lot original and new things in it that I have never seen before as well, so it is a new story. I'd like to know more about this device and it's origins.
I really hope that there will be more sci fi horror from these authors, because this was a great story and I could picture it as a movie.

Creepy, gripping, terrifying, hard to put down... it's all these & more. The " Master of Malice" has moved to space!
In all of his books, it's that atmosphere that pervades the normal parts of the story that gets you looking over your shoulder. Here in space, multiply it by at least 10... A great story with plenty of twists & terrors.
The space story + horror meld perfectly.

First off, this is one of, if not my most anticipated book of the year! (I’m a bit bummemed that when I got the arc, my life was so busy I could not properly binge this book. )

David Viergutz, Author, and Boris Bacic both brought their A game to this one. The tension and anxiety is high and the horror is around every corner.
These guys really pull the reader in to the story from the first sentence. They definitely had me asking WTAF on every page.

This story is heavy with regret and trauma and hopeful redemption. It is isolation horror at its finest. These characters all have their own demons to battle and on top of that, they have to figure out how to escape and survive this unmapped planet/space station and each other?

Stranded in space and slowly losing your mind, or is it being influenced by something more? Who can you trust? …you’ll have to read it to find out.

David & Boris are both phenomenal authors in their own right, but together make an excellent writing team, and I truly hope to see more from the two of them in the future. This book was definitely worth the wait and I hope to see a lot of reviews in the days/months to come.

I think if you’ve enjoyed Sphere, Beta, Dead Space, or any other kind of Sci-fi horror you’ll definitely want to read this.
Also if you enjoy that isolation paranoia type of horror, this will also appeal to you.

“No one is free when the voices are me”

One of my favorite quotes from this book.

Thank you so much David and Boris for this arc 5🚀🚀🚀🚀 🚀 for sure. I can’t wait until my physical copy shows up now.
