Black Tie Billionaires #3

Bright Lights & Summer Nights

Rate this book
Summer nights can be full of surprises.

As a single, unemployed, and unapologetic twenty-five year old mess, I came to the Hamptons this summer for one reason—to focus on myself and work out my quarter-life crisis. I didn’t come here planning to sneak into a private party and meet a handsome stranger.

I definitely didn’t come here expecting for that stranger to be Preston Rhodes—billionaire and superstar quarterback for the Manhattan Mambas.

And that’s not even the crazy part.

He asked me to be his pretend girlfriend for a week while his family is in town. He needed a date for his sister’s wedding, and I’d never turn down the opportunity to be spoiled by a rich man.

The only thing is, Preston’s not very good at pretending.

Now instead of discovering myself, I’m spending the week discovering what life would be like with him. Instead of focusing on me, I’m focusing on how he looks at me, how he touches me, how he wants me.

But now that neither one of us is faking it, I only hope that we can hold on to what we have through the bright lights and summer nights.

From the author that brought you Black Ties and White Lies and Pretty Rings and Broken Things, comes an all-new stand-alone in the Black Tie Billionaires Series. Bright Lights and Summer Nights is a billionaire, fake dating, sports romance releasing June 2024. It is Emma's book and a complete stand-alone. It is the third and final book in the series.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Kat👏🏽Singleton👏🏽knows👏🏽how👏🏽to👏🏽write👏🏽the👏🏽most👏🏽perfect👏🏽fictional👏🏽men👏🏽 PERIODT. I knew I would absolutely adore Preston and Emma going in because honestly, Kat has never failed to make me fall in love with her characters. She's got this distinct style of writing THE most filthy mouthed yet swoonworthy heroes - and I don't think I'll ever get over that. Men written by Miss Kat Singleton are THE STANDARD Y'ALL🫠 Emma and Preston's story was perfect and I found myself not wanting to put the book down! It's kind of a bittersweet moment to see this series ending - especially BT&WL was the very book that made me a Kat Singleton stan - but I'm super stoked to see what Kat has in store for us next!!!

*Thank you to Kat Singleton for providing me with an ARC!

safety squad:
- sports romance
- age gap (H is 36, h is 25)
- grumpy hero
- he falls first and harder
- fake dating
- jealous hero
- no condoms
- no OW/OM drama/cheating/sharing (I can always count on Kat for a safe read!)
- HEA
- standalone part of an interconnected series/friendship trio

Long review...

Emma (25) was having a quarter-life crisis, and her two best friends suggested that she stay at Hamptons for the summer while doing her soul searching. When she got there, on her first night, she decided to gatecrash a party (thanks to the tip of her Uber driver). 🫣

Meanwhile, Preston (36) went out to take a breather from his sister's engagement party, and that's when he saw Emma trying to climb the fence of the club. 😅 For some reason, he was intrigued by her, so he decided to help and then invited her inside the event.

Conversations run smoothly between them, and there was a family friend (ow) who couldn't take a hint that he wanted her to leave them be. So he told her that Emma is his girlfriend, and the next thing they knew, they were surrounded by his family members, who are very happy and interested in knowing more about his girlfriend. 😂

Anyway, Emma was caught off guard by his announcement but played along with it, and she agreed to be his fake girlfriend for the whole week until his sister's wedding day. 🤭

It was very much an instant attraction—not lust or love, but attraction nonetheless. And in a span of one week, pretending to be in a relationship, they learned a lot of things about themselves and felt emotions that they never had before. 🤭

Given the short time they've known each other, their connection might be unbelievable for some readers, but the off-the-charts chemistry and tension between these two beg to differ. 😉

The way they fit together made it look as if they'd known one another for their entire lives rather than just a couple of days. The ease and comfort in their play-pretend, interactions, and banter were something no one could fake so easily, and yet these two managed to do so with little to no effort. 🥹

I love how they were so open and honest all the time and that they spoke their minds even if the running thoughts in their heads were uncomfortable to share. They didn't hold back much, and the fact that they could read each other so effortlessly made their conversations flow naturally. 😊

I also loved how Emma was welcomed by Preston's family, who, despite their wealth, didn't treat her like she was below them. It's quite refreshing to read about an affluent family not acting so dismissive towards people who don't belong to their social circle. 🤗

Anyhoo, in terms of the dreaded third act breakup, while I'm normally not a fan of MCs separating, I really think they needed that time apart to do their own things and succeed at them; after all, they were at different stages of their lives. Their breakup made them even more focused on achieving their separate goals without having to worry about one another. 🤷‍♀️

I appreciated how Emma represented the dilemma of young people feeling lost, figuring out who they are, deciding where they want to be—basically, having no idea what to do with their lives. I think it takes a lot of courage to venture outside of our comfort zones and evaluate the direction we want our lives to go.

And I'm so impressed that she chose herself, taking the time to come to terms with who she is and learning to love who she has become. I don't think it's selfish that she prioritized herself first, and I'm just happy that after making that difficult decision, greater things came her way. 💖💖

And I want to swoon over Preston for being patient, understanding, and loving all throughout Emma's self-discovery. 🥹 He let her go, even though it was the last thing he wanted to do. He patiently waits for her, hoping that at the end of her personal journey she will come back to him and that there will still be an "us" for them. Though there were times he was tempted to contact her because he missed her so badly, he never did because he didn't want to distract her. Seeing her make progress and attain success was more than enough to help him get through his days. Where can I find someone like him?? 👉🥹👈

Anyway, this was a good one. I had fun with it, and out of the three best friends here, I ended up loving Emma the most. I feel connected to her, and her self-discovery journey resonates deeply with me. I'm glad she's finally found her calling and is now happier than ever. As for me, I'm still not there yet, but hopefully someday I'll come to a point in my life where I can say I'm finally content and grateful for what I am and what I have.

Overall, this was a happy and sad read because the series has finally ended. But it was really heartwarming to see these women find happiness and love in their lives, which they truly deserved. 💖💖💖

THIS BOOK HAD ME SOBBING. The character of Emma is just so real and one I couldn't relate to more. I felt like, thanks to this book, I found comfort in having a messy life, and it helps you understand that it is normal, but that you can also find yourself and love yourself. It might be one of my favourite FMC. And for Preston to wait for Emma, god... I cried so much because he WAITED for her to love herself, even though he has hurt in the process. This couple will grow old together, I know it.

𝗦𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝟳𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. 𝗜𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝗸 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿.

This dual POV follows Emma (with the boring name) and Preston (Side note: who calls their children Prestin in this day and age? It sounds like such a "rich" boy name - and while Prestin IS a Billionaire, you would think it's from a Rich Boy from 1920 and not 2024)

See, Emma is a little lost. She doesn't know what she wants to do with her life or what she wants to achieve. She is just stuck. But Emma also has VERY RICH FRIENDS who help her on her journey to Self Actualisation by letting her stay the summer in their house in the Hamptons. Emma seized this opportunity (because let's face it, who wouldn't?) and gave herself the objective to use the time to figure out her life, focus on herself and where she sees herself going as well as relax. What she doesn't see herself doing is becoming Prestin's fake girlfriend. But after crashing into Prestin's sister's Wedding Arrival Party that's exactly what happens. As Prestin; intrigued by the blond spitfire who threw a shoe at him as an introduction, is trying to escape his sister's single friends... and what better way to do that than to appear already attached? The catch is Prestin has never brought anyone to meet the family before so his family latch onto his new girlfriend like a bunch of leeches - but like cute cuddly little leeches that are adorable and sweet and not the gross kind. if anyone knows anything else that latches on without being gross let me know so I can edit this

Emma was an interesting character as it almost felt like she didn't have a filter - she embraced her life to the fullest and always appeared to say directly what she was thinking or feeling - which is great because there is no room for miscommunication. She is also quite bold in her sexuality and embraces her attraction and sexual tension with Prestin quickly. She is a risk taker and I loved that she wasn't afraid to take those risks leaving her in the position of wondering "what if" later.

Prestin is your typical reformed playboy who now takes life too seriously. A pro-football quarterback who is dealing with facing the announcement that the next season will be his last, so he can pursue other aspects of life. He is known for always being stern and hardly smiling. He also has technically never had a girlfriend (he is not a virgin but wasn't really the settling down type - iykwim). Let me just tell you this man is the MVP and TOP TIER BOOK BOYFRIEND MATERIAL (5/5 on the sexy man scale with the only thing wrong with him, being his archaic name). He is a sexy specimen of note who is tall and looks spectacular in a suit. AND HE HAS TATTOOS! He is tough on the outside but inside this man is a sticky gooey mess of sweet, thoughtful and caring; that you just want to lick his abs and his soul.

The family, specifically Gram and Peyton are also perfect. Their antics, meddling and depth of characterisation were so well done. Their utter love and generosity with their wholesome attitude that welcomed Emma into their unit warmed my heart. For Emma who has always had a very small family (she was raised by her aunt), to instantly be accepted, treated and treasured like one of the family was adorable. I also love that this connection went both ways and that Emma's spontaneity was able to create magical and nostalgic memories for Gram and Peyton for her special wedding week.

What stood out is that even though Prestin and Emma are immediately sexually attracted to each other and have wicked banter. The way you could feel his love growing for Emma based on how she interacted with the people he cared for, was so natural it climbed into my heart. It was those subtle glances while she would be dancing with his sister or him being drawn to her smile and laugh and him basking in her continual warmth. It felt like these two and their bond and relationship were soul mates from the start because they both were able to bring out the best version of the other while also growing themselves.

The SPICE - WHOA! 🥵️🥵️🥵️ She's sexy, hot, delicious and toe-curlingly good. Prestin has a delightfully dirty mouth and knows how to use it. . There are steamy scenes and then there are steamy scenes in literal STEAM... Quite utterly spectacular smut.

NOW - what was my issue? To not go into too much detail on the end, my main concern was given the reasons for what happened; I wanted to see more of how things unfolded. And it very much turned into "I am just going to tell you and not show you" and I really dislike books that tell and don't show.

𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀:
▶ Fake Dating
▶ Billionaire Romance
▶ Sports/Football Romance (but it's off-season so not too big influence on plot)
▶ Age Gap (MMC 36, FMC 25)
▶ Forced Proximity
▶ Grumpy X Sunshine
▶ Nicknames
▶ Steamy Steam Scene (water scene)

𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀:
▷ She throws him with her shoe
▷ He Loves her smile
▷ He brings her drinks and makes food for her
▷ Rope Play (but with a bath gown)
▷ It won't fit
▷ Lift your hips for me love
▷ Good Girl
▷ Chin Lift
▷ Forehead Kisses
I MEAN SERIOUSLY - these are just top tier make you squeal tropes

Overall my first Kat Singleton was an amazing experience and I loved the ride (even if it slowed down in the end). It was well written, entertaining, had character depth in multiple characters and was just sweet gooey sexy romcom bliss. This will not be the last Kat Singleton I read!

Thank you to Kat Singleton and Valentine PR for my gifted ARC copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This one started out SO STRONG for me.. to the point I thought it was going to be my favorite in the series. Listen, Preston is amazing. LOVE HIM, like there is nothing wrong with him, maybe a small jealousy issue but idk I dig it. LOL

This sadly took a turn for me at the end with all the time jumps and the 3rd act breakup. I was just so bummed with how this played out so I am slightly sad.

The spice though was great and I loved Emma's energy. When she said "In less than five minutes, I was able to locate the workplaces of five of the people who were nasty in my comments. It took all of me not to send over the rude things they were saying to their boss." I FELT THAT

This book had so much potential, but some parts were so cringy I almost didn’t finish. Emma was too much of a contradiction. One minute she comes off as the most self assured person you’ll ever meet, even vain you could say, but in the next, 3 online comments have her spiralling. Her immaturity was beyond anything I expected, to the point that I was cringing, and that has never happened in my 30+ years of reading romance. Crashing a wealthy family’s wedding? Why? What reasoning led up to that? What rational person just decides she lonely and decides break and enter is her only avenue for some fun? And the dancing on the table??!? At that moment, Preston should have been running the other direction. Soooo bizarre.

Bright Lights & Summer Nights by Kat Singleton 🤍

I’m so sad the series is over. The first book in this series is what introduced me to Kat's writing and I've loved every single one of her books since. A whole series full of billionaires that are absolutely obsessed with their women? When will it be my turn!? It would be a really tough decision for me to pick a favorite from the series so I'm not going to. Just know that this series is a must read if you love strong, relatable characters, men who are down bad for their women, and some incredibly hot spice.

This book is about Emma and Preston. Emma is someone who is struggling to figure out what exactly she wants for her life and decides to take a few months to herself and stay in her best friend's house in the Hamptons. Her first night there she decides to sneak in to a party happening at the country club, only to fall in to (literally) a handsome stranger. This turns out to be Preston Rhodes, star NFL player, but Emma doesn't know who he is. They end up handing out for the night until one thing leads to another and they're caught up in a fake dating scheme to appease Preston's family. Preston and Emma agree to fake date for the week leading up to his sister's wedding. Who would ever turn that down, right? Not me. Turns out they both are really good at pretending and end up giving in to their attraction. So when the week is up they have to make a choice about getting to know each other more or stepping out of their lives like the original plan.

I think this was a perfect ending to the series. I really liked Emma's character from the past books and she was due to finally get her happy ending with a rich guy! Preston was absolutely perfect for her, knowing exactly what to say to reassure any doubts she had about herself but also letting her have the time she needs to discover herself. He spoiled her and I know he'll continue to. Love, love, love them.

Can't wait to see what comes next from Kat!

I don't know how Kat Singleton did it, but she created a series where I love every single MMC. And if you have to tell me I had to choose which more I liked more I couldn't do it. And let me tell you, Bright Lights and Summer Lights was the perfect way to end this series!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars... but honestly it's more like infinite ♾️ stars. To me Kat Singleton can do NO wrong in my eyes

Emma Turner is a single, unemployed and unapologetically a mess. Which is why she has found herself in the Hamptons for the summer to work out her quarter life crisis. What she didn't expect to happen is to meet the hot shot quarterback of the Manhattan Mambas and billionaire, Preston Rhodes. But the crazy part? Preston asks Emma to be his fake girlfriend for a week while he is in town for his sister's wedding. But what happens when Emma stops finding herself and instead finds herself under Preston? What happens when thinks stop being fake and feelings become real? Can Preston and Emma's relationship make it back to the real world in Manhattan?

📚 Book Tropes:
- Billionaire Romance
- Pro Football Player MMC
- Accidental Influencer FMC
- Fake Dating
- Age Gap
- Forced Proximity
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- Jealous and Possessive Hero
- 6 STRAIGHT CHAPTERS OF SPICE 🔥

💭 My Thoughts: Can I first say how sad I am that this series has come to an end because I truly love every single one of these books. So I'm not crying, you're crying! This series has created such an escape for me and to end it on such a high with Emma and Preston's story was everything that I could have wanted and more! My hearts is seriously so full!

Emma has been that side character in each book of this series that was so fun and vibrant. She was the "crazy" friend in the group. The outspoken one. And the one who was chronically single who just wanted the happiness that her friends had... and if it was with a billionaire that would even better! And she got the most perfect HEA that she so rightfully deserves! I loved seeing a different side of her. Seeing her struggle at where she is at life and loving who she truly is, is something that I think a lot of us can relate to. We've all been Emma at some point in our lives. And Preston, that man loved Emma for the mess she is. He saw her and loved every crazy part of her.

Now can we talk about our MMCs real quick. Kat single handedly has delivered three of the most perfect book boyfriends. It's to the point that I don't know how to choose who I love more. And that's so rare for a series because I feel like there is always one MMC that you love just a little but more. But I can't do it. First she gave us Beck, who bought a literal company just to talk to Margo. Than she gave us Archer Moore. That man had me weak with the first time he called Winnie "my wife" and they weren't even married yet! Then in walks Preston Rhodes. This man was so possessive in all the right ways. He was so gone for our girl Emma from the second he laid eyes on her. And to see Emma bring a softer side out on him made me swoon!

The tension between these two was THICK! I mean it was only 24 hours of knowing each other and you could tell they were goners for each other. And the tension just kept building until it bubbled over to the 6 STRAIGHT CHAPTERS OF SPICE! Yes you hear me right, 6 straight chapters! And boy was it good! The chemistry between these two was so good!

At the end of the day, if you have not read the black tie billionaire series, what are you even doing with your life? Please RUN and add these to your TBR and you will not be disappointed! As sad as I am that this series has come to an end, I am so excited to see what Kat will deliver next!

Thank you Kat for truly allowing me to get lost in this world that you have created. And also single handedly feeding my delusions into thinking I’ll find myself a black tie billionaire. A girl can dream right? 🤣 I am also so beyond grateful to Kat Singleton and Valentine PR for allowing me to read Bright Lights and Summer Nights as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts, opinions and review.

Other than the ridiculous third act breakup, this book makes for a perfect summer read.
Lighthearted, sweet and spicy with a swoony book boyfriend and some decent friendly banter.

There’s really not much happening, it’s mostly fluff with a side of occasional smut and the one attempt at drama (aka the third act breakup).

I really can’t get over that third act breakup (if that wasn’t obvious by now), because I generally hate them with passion, but this one was particularly unnecessary. It sounded like some pop-psychology hogwash. No, you don’t need to be alone to grow up into yourself. You can do it within the relationship. It’s not one or the other. In fact, practicing not losing yourself in another person would be easier if there was someone to practice with.

It’s not a memorable book, but it’s nice enough to take on your summer vacation, since the main events are happening over the summer and that sense of temporary adventure never tastes better than when you’re having one too.

4 stars!

I really enjoyed "Bright Lights & Summer Nights" by Kat Singleton! Though this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone novel. I am definitely going to go back and read the other two books in this series because I think Singleton is a fantastic writer who crafts her characters with care and intensity! This book showcases the way you do insta-love properly! I *loved* both Emma and Preston as individual characters. Emma is endlessly relatable to me, even though she is a bit younger than I am. Don't we all need time and space to figure stuff out, and to find our place in this crazy world? She was endlessly optimistic, funny, and sassy. Even with his jealous streak, Preston was swoon-worthy most of the time. I loved his character arc. The build-up between the two of them is wonderful, the chemistry and heat between them palpable and believable. AND THE SPICE. My god, some of the hottest spice I have read in a minute! My biggest complaint about this story is the third act. I figured out what would happen early in, but I don't think it was necessary! I guess like what happened with Emma, but it felt a bit contrived. It was a little silly that she ditched her friends and her boyfriend because of validation from random people online, but I don't doubt that some people would do that in reality. Still, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Meddling grandparents, fake dating, billionaires, happenstance meetings, naughty moments in public places, hilarious banter, and fancy parties... what more could you want or need?!

Thank you to Kat Singleton and Valentine PR for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for my review.

I’ve been sitting here for a while trying to write this review and I am just lost for words!

To put it simply I loved this book and I love this series so so much! Bright Lights and Summer Nights was the perfect conclusion for the Black Tie Billionaire series!!

I absolutely adored Preston and Emma! I don’t normally like to rank my favourites in a series but they were definitely strong contenders for the top spot!

Also! LOVED Gram!! She was an ICON!! Petition for more meddling grandmas in books!!

I'm sorry but in my humble opinion this book revealed to be about all bunch of nothing and the separation was the most useless lamest and totally unnecessary thing ever???

“No, Preston. I’m going home for good.”
[...]
“Why can’t you figure out what you want to do next while still making our relationship work? Why are you making it a choice between yourself or me? I’m not asking you to choose, Em. I’ll wait for you to feel good about whatever you want to do with the rest of your life. Just let me be a part of it.”

It ruined everything that I enjoyed before.
There he said it.

At the end I feel drained of the motivation to argue more, it's not worth it.

Wow! Just wow! I loved Emma in the first two books ~ she was the one I related to most, and is sassy, independent, and confident! I love that her story allows her to evolve even more. She has to be my favorite FMC written by Kat! I found her story to be the most relatable, because isn't everyone trying to figure out who they are and how to love themselves in the best way possible?

Preston, Preston, Preston... this man is extremely swoon worthy. I fell for him the first night he and Emma met. Can this man do no wrong? Patient, tattooed, muscular, and knows exactly what he wants and says things like "I know I suck at words, but no one will ever love you like it do."

Preston's Gram steels the show so many times! It made me miss my own Gram, who I lost over twenty years ago, but still remember how kind and patient she was.

This book has made its home on my favorites list! I'll need to get a hard copy to go into my collection of signed books, to go with the first two in the series.

Releasing June 20th!

Bright Lights and Summer Nights is a billionaire, sports, fake dating, age gap (she’s 25, he’s 36) romance with forced proximity!

Emma is 25 and feeling like her life still hasn’t come together, in the midst of what she’s proclaiming as a “quarter-life crisis” she ends up in the Hamptons alone (courtesy of her friend Winnie offering up her house) to figure out her life. The first night there she hears about a big party at the country club and decides to crash, which is where she meets NFL player Preston! He literally catches her when she jumps over the gate to crash his sister’s wedding arrival party and a couple hours later they’re fake dating. He claimed she was his girlfriend to get away from someone at the party, then it snowballed from there when his sister overheard about his “girlfriend” and invited Emma to all the wedding festivities and introduced her to their Gram!

This was so cute and spicy and fun! I loved Emma and her attitude towards everything, it was so fun seeing her become a sensation on social media when she shares her struggles with figuring out life in a video she accidentally posts online. She ends up using the summer to post daily video check-ins, as well as enjoy her time with Preston. He ends up staying in the guesthouse of the property while they pretend to be dating. So many fun moments: Preston getting possessive, when he finds Jerry (🤭 blushing), calls her Rebel, Davis the bartender, the massage table 👀, his letters 🥹, Gram’s stories, her friends chats, her quarter-life crisis turning into everything she never knew she needed! I just adored these 2 together and their book was so cute, while book 2 is still my fav in this series, this was a close second! Such a fun ending to the series and I can’t wait for the next series already!

I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own!

Well the series has come to an end. This was the best one by far. 🩷 I wouldn’t think I’d enjoy Emma’s story but I loved her the most. She was so different than her other two friends which made her stand out. 🥰

Emma was loud, non filtered, and had an awesome personality that just shined throughout the book. 🤩 Then you have Preston who is pro football 🏈 and more serious and focused. Seeing her shine light into him was amazing. The spice was really good too ❤️‍🔥🤭 The sauna scene, was fire! 🔥 🥵😍❤️

Listen…. I didn’t think that anything could be better than the first two books of this series but here we are… PRESTON RHODES?!?! Say freaking LESS.

Emma finds herself in a bit of a rut. Not knowing what she wants in life or where her path is taking her. Her friend offers up their home in the Hamptons for the summer for her to relax. The first night, she finds herself jumping into the arms of a tattooed, hot, football player. Literally. Girl flies over the fence and right into this mans arms LOL
Preston is immediately enamored by Emma’s beauty, even if she did almost take him out breaking into his sister’s party. As the night goes on he comes up with the plan for her to be his fake girlfriend for just the week to get through the wedding. Throughout the week they end up finding themselves growing extremely close very quickly and the lines begin to blur….

The way I was actually blushing and giggling through this book LOL Preston and Emma are literally hilarious and let’s not forget how freaking HOT they are. Oh ma GAWD.

Anywho… read this one June 20th when it comes out because you basically need to.

Tropes:
-fake dating
-NFL player X influencer
-she accidentally goes viral LOL
-tattooed mmc
-age gap

I think my book / reading slump is affecting my reviews as well and I sincerely apologize for it.

I’m excited about today—and it feels good to finally be excited about something in my life.

Emma. Please someone remind me of her last name because I completely forgot about it?!
According to her own words, she's a mess going through a quarter-life crisis. Her friends seem to have their life together, meanwhile she has no idea what she wants from her life.
Enma decides to spend the sunmer at her friends house in the Hamptons to discover herself. She plans to ignore men and instead focus on self-discovery.
On her first night, Emma records herself rambling about her life and posts it online before she decides to sneak into a country club and, in the process, she meets Preston.
Before long, Emma notices that she has spent the whole summer under the same roof with Preston and is faced with some pretty difficult choices: should she stay in the relationship with Preston or put it on pause and focus on herself like she planned to all along to ensure she learns to love herself as well?

I don’t know what it is about this woman, but she gets to me more than anyone I’ve ever met. I’m known on the field—and to the world—as a stone-cold quarterback. No one can get to me, but she makes a dirty joke and I’m blushing like a child.

Preston Rhodes.
He is a professional football player at the peak of his career. Only, he has begun to want something more from life than just football.
All of a sudden, during his sister's pre-wedding festivities Emma literally falls in his lap while sneaking in to the party.
To thaw off all the unwanted approaches, Preston introduces Emma as his girlfriend.
Before meeting Emma, Preston had already decided that he would retire after the next season. He'd rather retire on top and now he had finally found something in his life that he cared about more than playing – Emma. Only, she was thinking about breaking up with him while he was madly in love with her.

“Preston, I know I told you this last night—at least I think I did; everything is a little fuzzy because of the drinks—but I love Emma, and you must keep her. Deal?”
“Who says I want to be kept? Plus, who says I want to keep Preston? I’m undecided if I can put up with his constant grumpiness.”

The girl. The myth. The legend. May I present to you, Emma and her banter. Honestly, she had me cracking out out loud at times because of how hilarious she was.

I loved how Emma and Preston's meeting all of a sudden led to her meeting his whole family and winning them over in no time. And to the summer of her life.

I stare at her for a moment as I wonder how the universe works. What had to happen for her to scale that fence at the exact time I’d stepped out to take a break? Were we meant to meet no matter what? If I’d been five minutes later going outside, would our paths still have crossed somehow?
I’d like to think so. I can’t imagine a universe where Emma Turner wasn’t meant to crash into my life.

Emma and Preston's age gap was extremely visible. Not only in where they both were in life but also in what they wanted from life. That's also what ended up causing the most trouble for them, surprise surprise.

I kind of felt for Emma and understood where she was coming from. I mean, if you are not comfortable with who you are, how are you able to build a functioning relationship in the long run?

She knows how I feel. When she’s ready—if she’s ever ready—she knows where to find me.
So I’ll continue to wait, even though waiting for her is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. It’ll be worth it in the end, as long as she’s mine.

Despite all the ups and downs, which this book definitely had for me, what we witnessed was, once again, the above average Kat Singleton quality! If you have not read the Black Tie Billionaire series already, what are you doing?

I received an ARC of Bright Lights & Summer Nights in exchange for an honest review

The reading slump has been real and I have yet to read a single page in June. Here's to hoping this book will get rid of it ✨

I don’t even how i ended up finishing this one
Atleast 10 times the thought of putting it on my dnf shelf crossed my mind
But i just had to see it through!!!
I didn’t remember shit about the other books in the series but this one… i just couldn’t
70% of the book is sorta based on not even a full week of the main leads life
There wasn’t really anything going on chemistry or plot wise.
It didn’t even make sense to me some of the time
And then the rest of the plot was continuously written across 1-3 month leaps
In the beginning the MFL is all about self discovery but i literally saw none of it throughout the book, it was just the fake dating week and then her being a media sensation
Preston, the MML on the other hand was nothing out of the ordinary so Mehhhhh

Okay enough hate
It’s just me, maybe you’ll like the book more but i just couldn’t 🌞
