Nico Andretti knows one thing is true: Love is for fools. Being a tour bus guide in Times Square isn’t his dream job and he yearns for more than living in his mother’s basement apartment, but life is tough in the big city. At least the men on the bus are eye-candy galore, and they’re one and done. Why bother with seconds when you’ll only get hurt? And Nico knows hurt—he’s got a father he’s never met and an ex who broke his heart and shattered his self-esteem. Then Dr. Ford St. Claire takes his tour, and Nico enjoys his own personal sightseeing of the gorgeous older man. In a twist of fate they meet again that evening and share drinks, confidences, and a night of flirting. Now Ford is gone for good. Home to Florida. Until he shows up the next month. And the next… It’s just a fling. Right? But the more time they spend together, the more Nico realizes being broke doesn't matter. Nor does the distance between them. What matters is how Ford makes him feel—loved, appreciated, and respected. And Nico is determined to give Ford the one thing his cheating ex couldn't—a loving family. When secrets and scandals threaten them both, their love is put to the test. Maybe they’ll crash and burn…but Nico doesn’t think so. All that matters is finding their forever. And doing it together.
Felice Stevens writes romance because what is better than people falling in love? Her favorite part of a romance novel is that first kiss…sigh. She loves creating stories of hopes and dreams and happily ever afters. Her stories are character-driven, rich with the sights, sounds and flavors of New York City and filled with men who are sometimes deeply flawed but always real.
Felice writes M/M romance because she believes that everyone deserves a happily ever after. Having traveled all over the world, she can safely say that the universal language that unites people is love. Felice has written in a variety of sub-genres, including contemporary, paranormal and has a mystery series as well.
Felice is a two-time Lambda Literary Award nominee and the Lambda award-winner for Best Gay Romance for her book, The Ghost and Charlie Muir, as well as the e-Lit gold medal winner in romance for Broken Silence.
All That Matters is a beautiful, stand alone romance by Felice Stevens. These two men!!! I loved them so much. They both so deserved to find happiness and I found myself cheering them all along the way.
Nico Andretti is twenty eight years old and works during the day as a sightseeing guide for those double decker tour busses you see all over New York. He loves his job because he loves to share all his little unknown personal favorite places with the tourists to make their stays in New York even more memorable. Nico actually lives in Brooklyn in an area called Bay Ridge. His family owns an Italian restaurant called La Dolce Vita. He works there to help out at night. Is this where Nico thought he’d be at twenty eight? No it wasn’t. But his mother is recovering from cancer so he is living in the downstairs apartment of her house to be there to help her. No matter what, though, he is surrounded by people he loves, his family and friends.
Nico doesn’t believe in love, for himself anyway. He tried once and got hurt badly. So now he has one night stands only. But lately, he still feels lonely.
Dr. Ford St. Claire is forty two years old and is a dermatologist in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Ford shares a thriving practice with his business partner/fellow doctor and now ex, Lenny. Lenny who had been cheating on him for years. Ford is in New York on business when he jumps on Nico’s tour bus and the sparks fly. When Ford loses his wallet on the bus and Nico returns it, those same sparks are still there but fate wasn’t done with these two yet. One more chance meeting and they are finally forced to acknowledge the chemistry between them. When it’s time, though, Ford will return to Florida while Nico stays in New York. But then business brings Ford back to New York and fate weaves her magic once again.
“It’s not the place that matters. It’s who you share it with.”
Thousands of miles separate them. Their ages are fourteen years apart. One is a successful doctor and one is still struggling to find his place in the world. You’d think these two had everything working against them. Just the opposite was true, though. They really saw each other, they understood each other. Their feelings grew quickly and they found something that had been missing in their lives. They found love. While both of their lives are going through some major changes, they support one another as they fall deeper. Even with their insecurities from past hurts, they find a way to build each other up and move forward.
“You are like every wish I never dared to dream, every miracle I didn’t trust was real.”
Can you tell yet? I loved this book. I loved Ford and Nico. Sometimes in books you might find yourself loving one of the characters more than the other but that’s not the case here. I loved them both! So much! They have both been hurt, both been betrayed. But they overcame their insecurities to give what they felt between them a chance. This is why I love Felice’s books. I just adore the way her characters hold each other up. The way they talk things out. This was another wonderful read and I am so excited for you to meet Ford and Nico.
I loved everything about this, from the interesting way they met, to the differences between them, to how both Nico and Ford gave the other something unique with which they could choose to make improvements in their own lives.
It's pretty swoony, has a great bad guy to boo, a fabulous mix of family and friends who bring life and chaos to the mix and fully flesh out the wonderful New York setting, and it has unexpected benefactors who are just the sweetest of people.
The pacing is excellent, it starts off with a joyous upbeat meet/cute that leads into a cautious friendship while the slowburn-y part of the physical side of Nico and Ford's relationship takes its time to develop organically.
There's plenty of highs and the tension points all arise from completely realistic situations within the narrative that make sense and help to pull all the different elements together.
I love when Felice writes about New York, as a native, she brings such a genuine sense of place to the story that evoke a deep feeling of realism without simply filling the scenery with famous locations.
It's such an easy read too, I read it in a couple of hours because it was just a thoroughly enjoyable experience to journey along with these two men.
There might be a bit of a happy plotpoint at the end which makes their future lives a lot simpler and easier but, you know what, I didn't care because Ford's character was such that it was completely believable that such a situation could arise.
I loved the way they loved each other, the way they supported and encouraged, and were just there when needed, like a rock solid anchor.
This is definitely one of my favourites from Felice and one of her best books yet.
#ARC kindly received from the author via Chaos Creatives. I am voluntarily leaving a review
A 14-year age gap, over 1000 miles, financial disparity, and past hurts won't be enough to keep 28-year-old NY tour guide Nico and 42-year-old dermatologist Ford apart, but how long can a relationship like that last?
Nico and Ford have soooo many differences that could end the relationship before it starts, but their stellar communication helps them avoid so many potential pitfalls. They fall fast and have great chemistry. That's not to say there aren't any challenges here, but I love to see a couple that wants to work at things even as there are lingering doubts in their minds, usually about their own ability to make things work. Each has things to offer the other. Nico is a bit more free-spirited than Ford, but Ford has the experience to see that Nico has the brains and the drive to achieve his goals, and encourages him to do it.
Horrible exes, meddling friends and family, a couple of secrets, and of course, the setting of NYC all add to the story. If you're an avid reader of the author, be sure to keep your eyes open for a perfect little cameo from another of Felice Stevens' couples.
Nico and Ford are sweet and sexy and the epilogue was perfect! Just a wonderful read.
No rating because I should have known better. Super sweet romances where everything works out in ways that are above and beyond your average HEA are not my cup of tea. I have no idea what I was thinking when I decided to read this.
I think that this is one of my favourite Felice books so far. What a gorgeous story and beautiful romance. It's such a fun, sexy, and clever story. I loved the development of the relationship between Nico and Ford, the slow revelation of Ford's backstory, and the truth about his current situation. I so enjoyed the dynamic between both guys. Their relationship was fraught with questions, although it was very clear that they loved one another more than anything, and want to be together , in spite of the seemingly insurmountable obstacles that seemed to be in their way
There's a lot of soul searching and laying of ghosts on both sides, as usual, in Ms Steven's books, the secondary characters really contributed to the story, and their complete acceptance of Nico and Ford was lovely. There's a really bad baddie, who gets his comeuppance and a plot bunny thrown in out of the blue, to help our guys sort out their problems. However, by the time this happened, I didn't care if it seemed so convenient, I was so in love with Nico and Ford.
Anyhoo, I loved the pace, it certainly wasn't rushed, the story and the relationship slowly developed. The last few chapters were beautiful and gave me such warm fuzzies, I loved this, Nico and Ford were so sweet together. The epilogue was awesome. I also really really hope, even though it was merely hinted at, that Jack gets his own story? 😉
What a sweet and beautiful love story! I loved this so much! I love Nico and Ford and happy they met and made it work and kept going strong. Nico’s family was fantastic and so lovable. Ford, poor Ford, I was sad for him and wanted to give him all the hugs. So glad he finally got rid of Lenny, I so disliked that guy, grrrr… Also loved the epilogue, made me so happy! I hope there’ll be a short story of more Ford and Nico down the road because I want more;) A Must Read!!
Felice Stevens is an auto buy for me and always a 4 or 5 star read, but I have to say this is my favourite of her recent releases. I loved the concept of the “meet-cute” - NY bus tour guide and out of towner taking the bus tour. We’ve all been there and done that sort of thing on a trip - I know I’ve done a New York one - so it feeds into the fairy tale idea of fate and meeting your person at any time in your life, doing anything. Both main characters are really likeable, despite having a lack of confidence - either due to a failed relationship in the case of Ford, or due to a perceived lack of career/money for Nico. Nico’s family and friend group were all great and more than made up for how horrible Ford’s ex was. You’d normally assume with an age gap story that the older man is the more experienced character and the younger one the one with a lot to learn, but I liked with this story that the stereotype was reversed. Ford is also the financially richer character, but after a poor upbringing with not much family he definitely sees Nico as richer in family and love. Nico has more experience and his flirtation with Ford - which is an ego boost for the older man and subsequently helps him grow in confidence - was really sweet. Everything in this book worked for me, I love it when I connect with a story and get hooked and read it in one sitting - and for fans of this author who have read her other books, you’ll love the Coney Island cameo appearances!
After my last Felice Stevens novel, I said I needed to read more of her books. When I saw this one, I immediately snatched it. I loved the idea of an age gap long distance romance between these two men. It was so good.
Niko and Ford may have been in different places in their lives, but underneath it all they were two men who were hurt. I loved everything about their relationship: the way they met, how they were drawn to each other, how they deepened their relationship, and more. These two knew they were perfect for each other, they just didn’t know how to make it work.
I loved Niko’s family (except his jerkface dad) and friends. I’m wondering about Jack and his response to Niko’s relationship. I don’t know if we will get his story, but I’m very intrigued. Felice seems to write a lot of standalones, so I’m not sure if his story will happen.
This book is an easy read. The characters find their way into your heart as they navigate their way through to their happy ending. The ex was a nasty piece of work so good riddance to him but the rest of the cast were terrific. All added their own strength to this story in their own way. The story kept you reading and their journey, though strewn at times with obstacles, was one that was worth it. I enjoyed that there wasn’t many misunderstandings that caused turmoil instead face it, discuss it and solve it, a great way to live. The book was an enjoyable place to visit. I voluntarily an arc of this book.
It had everything needed to make a great love story. Two souls, separated by age, who just needed the right person to make each feel "at home" again.
The storyline included a meet-cute, true friends, and both suffering from a lack of a middle-class upbringing, especially from Ford's youth in a trailer park. At least Nico had a loving and stable family, who actively welcomed the by-now wealthier Ford into Nico's stable, lower-class life.
This is a love story for the ages, where differences in age and money had no place.
It is a standalone novel that ranks in the best of Felice Stevens oeuvre.
This was another amazing book by Felice Stevens. I love how authentic her characters always are and how she shows the real side of New York. Nico & Ford were great together, and I loved seeing how they found what they had been missing in each other. Be prepared to need a few tissues at times. As a Yankees fan, I chose to ignore that they were Mets fans! Lol
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.
All the feels! This was such a great book to get to the HEA. Both MMC’s are super lovable. An easy read and such a great book to make a heart feel good!
Overall I had such a fun time with this book! Despite their differences, the MCs worked hard on themselves and their relationship, and felt like equals. That’s rare with age and wealth gaps. No one was a dependent damsel, and no one was a domineering macho man. The story was sweet and fun, and the voice actor was excellent. I had such a fun time!
Nico is a 28 year old cis white gay man. He’s tall with dark hair and “blue-green eyes”. His family is Italian American. Nico speaks Italian and English. He had his heart broken a few years ago by a rich man who was embarrassed to be seen with someone so “low class,” and since then Nico has kept all his sexual relationships very casual. Until he meets Ford. His initial attraction is quick but not instalust or Instalove. It takes a bit for him to trust Ford and realize he’s really really into the guy. Nico is a tour guide by day and works at his family’s restaurant by night. He has a BA in business and always wanted to get his masters degree, but couldn’t because his mom was diagnosed with cancer. His mom is in remission. Nico is a sweet and loyal guy who struggles with his self-worth sometimes related to baggage from his ex. He never knew his father, who cheated on his mom and basically left her at the altar.
Ford is a 42 year old cis white gay man. He’s a dermatologist working and living in Florida. He’s slightly smaller than Nico. He’s still struggling from being cheated on and breaking up with his ex, Lenny. He and Lenny were together for a couple decades. Lenny came from a rich family and always looked down on Ford because Ford came from an extremely poor single mother household, and Ford’s mother was neglectful and abusive (physically and mentally). Ford never knew his father and has no way to find him. Lenny is also a dermatologist and the two co-own a practice even after breaking up. Lenny continues to be verbally and mentally abusive, but Ford avoids him by working on different days in the clinic. Ford has only ever had sex with Lenny, who wasn’t the most genuine of lovers. When Ford falls for Nico he’s a bit taken aback at how different it is to be with someone who actually likes him.
I liked that even though Nico really wanted to meet his dad, he wasn’t willing to be put through shit just to have a relationship. The dad turns out to think Nico is poor and gold digger, the dad is homophobic, and he thinks Nico isn’t good enough to meet the wife and adult daughters. Nico dismissing the dad, but does eventually get contacted by his half-sisters who tentatively want a relationship with him.
I liked that Ford eventually realizes he couldn’t keep working with Lenny, who was extremely entitled and didn’t think consequences applied to him. Ford has a lot of character growth and becomes confident and assertive and becomes very protective and supportive of Nico. I like that Nico also gains confidence in himself and is equally protective and supportive of Ford. Despite the age difference and the wealth difference, the two fit well together. That’s rare for me to like a book with big wealth and age gaps, but it helps when Ford is older and richer yet smaller and bottoms, and Nico is younger and poorer yet bigger and tops. It divides up the “masculine” statuses and the “feminine” statuses. I say this with quotes because it’s crap but usually in romance the younger poorer smaller innocent dependent woman is with an older richer bigger experienced domineering man, and this bleeds over to MM romance only it tends to be the younger/poorer one who bottoms and the older/richer one who tops. It’s so common and has such strict gender norms I just can’t stand it. Anyway, rant over. I am glad this book mixed it up a bit. It helped a ton and made for a much more engaging story.
Contains: —age gap (28 and 42) —wealth gap (working class and wealthy doctor) —intellectual equals —supportive MCs —gay mc x gay mc —doctor x tour guide —emotionally abusive exes for both MCs —loving family (Nico) —history of childhood abuse and neglect (Ford) —long distance relationship (New York and Florida)
Other: —third person dual POV —cheating: not between MCs, but Ford’s ex cheated on him extensively, and Nico’s bio dad cheated on his mom —romantic rival: no —breakup: no —kids: no —sex: explicit sex scenes. Strict roles. Ford likes to bottom and Nico likes to top. —HEA: yes
I don’t really have any quotes to put here because I listened to the audiobook. However, the voice actor was EXCELLENT! He did a really great job!
Beautiful, easy to read story that captivated me fast. We have two very different MCs that seem so opposite but yet have a lot in common somehow. That they find something in each other they didn't really know they were looking for was wonderful to experience.
The story grabbed me right from the start and I was hooked fast. The setting...it felt real and as if I was there. I could imagine some of the places - especially La Dolce Vita, the restaurant – even when in reality I've never been in New York – not even in America.
You know what I found really different? That the older, seemingly way more put together and more successful MC was the one who was more insecure and hesitating to start something. I know you come across these things too but I think they're still a bit more rare in the romance books.
Both MCs were very likeable and I quickly succumbed to their charms. Their voices were so different, I had no trouble to tell them apart. They had their insecurities and 'flaws', friends and colleagues, passions and aspirations for their future and that made them more real for me. I felt like I knew them on some level. Always a bitg plus for me while reading.
I really wanted to hug both more than once. They had experiences in the past that let them sort of close themselves up to love. To see these walls crumble over the span of the story was heartwarming and made me really happy.
The sparks between them were there right from the beginning but like I said their relationship experiences were so hurtful they didn't want to risk to love again.
Nico was because of that a 'have a good time, once' kind of guy while Ford was more of a 'I don't have sex with people I don't know' guy. Especially since his last relationship he had trouble to feel sexual attraction. So that in itself should have made it very difficult. But something beautiful happened with them. The spark and attraction were there for both. And a dose of fate on top made them be more open than before. Nico was willing to take his time and get to know Ford while Ford was willing to risk a bit more.
They supported each other even with over a thousand miles between them, shared their dreams and hopes and the 'bad' pasts. They encouraged and 'pushed' – but in a good way and always for the right reasons and were just there for each other. Exactly like everybody wishes for themselves, I'd say. I believe they gave each other strength so that in the end they could get their HEA.
I absolutely loved to read their story and was beautifully entertained, definitely a new favourite of mine from Felice.
I loved All That Matters by Felice Steven; it was the perfect balance of sweet and s*xy with characters both dealing with damage from recent ex’s, and family drama some from long ago and some more recent. With a 14 year age difference, financial disparity, and one living in NYC and one in Ft. Lauderdale, you’d think this would be a super angst filled book, but instead I found it to be rather uplifting and hopeful. That’s not to discount that both these men were dealing with some heavy things, big decisions, and often questioned if they could trust what they were feeling, but the support they offered one another and stellar communication skills led them both to a love they both desired and deserved. When 28 year old tour guide Nico sees 42 year old dermatologist Ford on one of his Hop On/Off bus tours, he can’t help but notice him and be interested. They share a few interactions during the tour, but when Nico finds Ford’s wallet and returns it to him there is a definite spark. But Ford is in town for just a couple of days and doesn’t do hook-ups and Nico isn’t about to set himself up for heartbreak again especially with a guy from out of town, but neither can forget the other and when Ford has the opportunity to return for a conference he takes it. I really loved these two; both had been hurt in previous relationships and had trouble letting go and trusting again yet every time they were together both proved they were men of their word. Nico had some issues with Ford’s wealth and worried people will assume he’s with him for that reason. Meanwhile Ford is worried people will wonder what a hot, young guy like Nico sees in him. They both do a great job of alleviating each other’s fears and I loved that Ford made a priority of seeing Nico as often as he could which allowed them to get to know one another even better. However, my favorite part of this book was how easily Ford was “adopted” into Nico’s family and friends circle, something he desperately needed as he was completely alone save for two dedicated office staff. While each man was dealing with issues both professionally and personally the other one was there to comfort, advice, and support and I loved that for both of them. Nico’s lovely family and friends group made me smile each time they were together and despite lasagna not being my favorite Italian dish, I found myself wanting to visit the fictional La Dolce Vita. All That Matters was a heart-warming, feel good, love story and a perfect book for Pride Month.
All That Matters is a beautiful, standalone romance by Felice Stevens, and I absolutely adored it. This was my first from Felice and it will certainly not be my last.
Separated by thousands of miles and a fourteen-year age gap, Ford a successful doctor while Nico is still searching for his place in the world. Despite these differences, they saw and understood each other deeply. Their feelings grew rapidly, filling a void they both had in their lives.
If you love…
* Opposites Attract * Age Gap * Long Distance * Hurt/Comfort * Found Family * Secrets & Scandals
…then this one is for you!!
Ford and Nico captured my heart completely. After past bad relationships, they both deserved to find happiness, and I found myself cheering them on every step of the way. I loved both characters equally! Having both been hurt and betrayed, they overcame their insecurities to embrace the love between them.
I loved everything about this book, from the unique way Ford and Nico met to their contrasting personalities and how they each brought something special into the other’s life. It's swoon-worthy, with a great antagonist to hate on and a fabulous mix of family and friends who add life and chaos to the story.
The pacing is excellent, starting with a joyous, upbeat meet-cute that develops into a cautious friendship. The slow-burn romance between Nico and Ford unfolds naturally. There are plenty of highs and the tension points arise from realistic situations that tie all the narrative elements together seamlessly.
This book was such an easy read; I could not put it down because it was a thoroughly enjoyable journey with these two men. There might be a somewhat happy plot twist at the end that simplifies their future. I loved the way Ford and Nico loved each other, the way they supported and encouraged one another, and how they were always there when needed, no questions asked.
Felice Stevensreally knows how to engage her audience in her stories. I've read several previously, and have loved all of them in different ways. The characters are well developed, and the environment is easy to imagine. All That Matters is a fantastic read; an absolute page-turner full of love.
Nico is an incredibly sweet and sexy NY tour bus guide, and Ford is a timid but deeply sensual dermatologist currently based in Florida. On paper, they're what seems to be a surprising match but are completely an opposites attract story that is very believable. There was never a point in the story where it seemed like it couldn't work between the MCs. Though their decision to finally make a go with their relationship, they both understood one another quite well and were immediately supportive and protective with each other. I love that we get to see their relationship endure and continue to develop while hundreds of miles apart.
Nico's personal support system in his friends and family is amazing, and incredibly endearing. Each and every one of the side characters we meet add value to the story and to the found family element for Ford. I was very glad to predict the continued involvement from Ford's colleague from his conference, and happily surprised by his support within his own half of his practice. Each of the MCs deserved every bit of happiness they achieved in this book.
I received an advance copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
You know how sometimes, you meet someone and start talking to them, and just want to keep talking forever? That was me with this book. I enjoyed it so much! It’s delightful. Nico and Ford have a wonderful connection that transcends their age gap and different locations and made them a wonderful, organic fit together.
Yes, they have obstacles. That living in different states thing is rough! But from the moment Nico catches sight of the latecomer to his open-air tour bus and admires the man from afar, to their random meeting that night and quirky conversation, to Ford later showing up out of the blue for another tour a few weeks later, the connection is heated and undeniable. They don’t leap into full intimacy at first either, having a delicious few visits to build up to it and show their chemistry outside the bedroom is legit and equally strong.
Nico’s friendly, hilarious, welcoming big family in NYC is a contrast to Ford’s sterile rich life in FL, showing that money doesn’t mean much when it comes to real love. Nico’s single mom raised him with pride and love, and there’s a secret to Nico’s past that’s a doozy when it comes into play. Ford’s awful breakup with his partner of 20 years—who remains his business partner in his dermatology practice—adds a layer of hurt-comfort and shows much-younger Nico rising to the occasion of showing Ford just how appreciated and desirable he is. Ford’s ex is a nasty piece of work who creates some drama, but these two are well equipped to overcome it.
New York City is another character; the author adds enough touches to make you feel like you’re there, including some fun trivia from Nico’s heading the city tour bus. Kinda made me want to jump on one and get a fuller spectrum of the city, much as I’ve been around it a lot myself. The love and appreciation for the city and environs shines through without taking over.
It’s a romance, so the challenges have their ways of working out in a satisfactory way. But the focus remains on these two men and the genuine respect and love they eventually admit they have for each other.
HEA, age-gap, hurt-comfort, fish out of water, no cheating or any present-day others for these two. They are all about each other. Highly recommended.
My thanks to Gay Romance Reviews for the ARC; this is my free and impartial opinion.
This book is the absolute definition of love story and romance for me and I just adored this beautiful journey! I know Felice can write great love stories but this one wins in the total swoon category!
I really loved both Nico and Ford individually as characters, but together they are something special and so very perfect for each other despite how different they are. Nico is guide on the bus tour in New York and Ford is a dermatologist Florida. It certainly seems like they wouldn’t have a lot in common, but once they start to get to know each other after quite the meet-cute it’s obvious there is something special between them. They are proof that love can just be meant to be no matter your differences. I also really liked how their story developed, it felt natural and very genuine. These two have a deep and strong connection and I liked that they both embrace that and want to explore what it could mean for them.
This isn’t an angsty or dramatic read, sure there are things they have to deal with and challenges along the way but this is really the story of Nico and Ford and the love they find together. This is a true love story, one that is just beautiful and heartwarming. It’s easy to root for these two, they are just perfect for each other and their story is a perfect mix of humor, romance and genuine emotion! I absolutely adored the end and seeing these two find the true love they both deserve! Overall a really fantastic read, I loved Nico and Ford with all my heart, along with some great friends and family in there too and to be honest, I hope we get Jack’s story, I’m definitely curious about him and wouldn’t mind a little more Nico and Ford thrown in. A must read for sure!
As always, the author's writing style is wonderful and it only took me a short time to find myself in the middle of the story. Nico is a fun-loving man who works two jobs. He is also very close to his family. On a tour that he leads as a tour bus guide in Times Square, he meets Ford. And as luck would have it, they meet again in the evening - the beginning of a friendship. Ford is a doctor and has nothing of what Nico has. And he lives in faraway Florida. What they have in common is that they both work hard and both need to work on their self-esteem, as there have been unpleasant events in the past. The distance doesn't play a major role, as Ford makes frequent trips to New York. And he books a bus tour with Nico every time. The chemistry between the two is undeniably there and I loved how the two grew closer. They are pretty cute together. The story is romantic and has no unnecessary drama, which I found very positive. Still, Ford has issues with his ex, with whom he also shares a doctor's office. Nico, on the other hand, learns things about his background and he has to figure out how to deal with it. I loved how the two of them were there for each other and it was a pleasure to accompany them on their journey through life.
This was also due to Kale Williams, who once again performed an absolutely brilliant reading. He gave both characters suitable voices, narrated in an entertaining way and captured the emotions well. I also love his pleasant voice. The audiobook is highly recommended! Felice Stevens and Kale Williams is a combination I can't resist and you absolutely can't go wrong with.
"I couldn't forget. And the best thing is, I know I'll never have to."
Oh man the hurt/comfort of this book had me not wanting to put this book down, and I didn't. The age gap made me devour this one. Found Family vibes were top notch!
Nico & Ford had my chest hurting so much but it was a necessity to get to the happy. Nico has been hurt by someone in his past that he thought cared and loved him, he was terribly wrong and got hurt. That changed him into who he is when he meets the out of town man who captures his attention. Ford couldn't be more afraid of a relationship since he was put through hell by his ex and partner of his practice. After what he went through in his past and living so far away is it worth it to pursue someone in a completely different state?
Nico's past was a tough one to swallow but Fords just hurt my chest. Loving someone as much as these two did in the past only to be hurt by it in the end will always be a pain that sticks with you. Ford having to deal with the fallout from his ex and basically start over is one thing but then you add in his trauma filled past with his mother and then it really aches. After everything he has gone through it changed him for the better. This book took me completely by surprise and kept me going until the end and I wanted more. Nico & Ford, oh these two just needed a hug and to never be let go.
A good quick for me read that was filled with angst, that yummy slow burn, emotions, some spice and everything all that is nice. There is more to this book than you think there is. Truly a good read.
All That Matters was a lovely read! This is a age gap, long distance, opposites attract romance! Nico Andretti is young, hot and charming, he works as a tour guide in New York and also in his family restaurant. Ford St. Clair is a dermatologist and lives in Florida, he go up in the bus tour because this was his first time in NY and because of his job this was the best way to know the city. Nico was his tour guide, later Nico found in the bus Ford Wallet and seeks him to give it back, but they meet again in a club where they spend time together. I love their meet cute story! They are attract to each other but both have been hurt bad in the past, but Nico found a way to get in contact with Ford and they hit it off and soon Ford is coming back to New York and take the bus tour again just to see Nico. They want to take things slow because of past experience but even with their long distance relationships they found a way to keep talking and getting to know each other. I love the relationship between them, they are so sweet and hot together, they just need to trust in their feelings and not worry about other people’s opinions, Nicos’s family was so good for both of them. I really enjoy that they always talk about their issues and how they feel and wants to things between them work out! This is a sweet, low angst read that will makes you smile, I was so happy for how things turned out at the end for them!
My heart melted for this novel. Though I may be slightly prejudiced because I adore all of Ms. Stevens's works, I sincerely believe this to be one of her finest. This is the narrative of Nico and Ford. Two men who, on paper, should collaborate, but in reality, are more similar than either of them realizes. Nico, a young man who has been damaged beyond belief, loves life in general but no longer believes in love. However, when it comes to committed relationships, his self-esteem is severely damaged. Eventually, when an attractive older man boards the tour bus, Nico finds herself staring at him and fantasizing about being in a relationship with him. In New York City for a conference, dermatologist Ford is present. Nico, the younger attractive tour leader, captivated him as well. But Ford isn't in the mood to start anything new right now, especially not a one-night stand, because he was brutally injured not long ago. Their night together is unforgettable, though, for fate intervenes the following month and Ford returns to New York City. Even when Ford returns to his home and practice in Florida, it will be a night they will never forget. But what if, month after month, Ford begins to appear on Nico's tour bus? You will feel good about the characters, Nico and Ford, and wish them a happy ending after reading this unique and seductive book. I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
4.25 Stars A cute romance that puts together two men whose lives have each centered around a lie. This hurt is a common factor they both share. Nico is a tour bus guide at Times Square. He works two jobs, and is very close to his family. He wants more for himself but isn’t sure how to achieve this. Ford is a doctor visiting from Florida, and books a tour on Nico’s bus. Nico does a good deed for the doctor, and later bumps into him. Ford treats Nico to a meal and the two connect. There is an age difference but it didn’t seem to matter. I loved how Ford kept visiting the area and taking numerous repeat tours with Nico just to be with him. The men had a magnetic pull and made a believable couple. Despite both being hurt, they can’t deny the chemistry. Ford is a natural nurturer and having Nico care for him is a new experience. He fits into Nico’s life and his return to Florida keeps getting more difficult. He has a dermatology business with his ex. Lenny, his ex, was really over the top, saying vile and toxic things to hurt Ford further, even though he was the one to sabotage their twenty-year relationship. Lenny always played mind games and Ford is at the breaking point. This is a sweet and endearing story that had a relatively easy fix to multiple problems but all in all, highly recommendable. Happy reading. **Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure. A review wasn’t a requirement.**
I simply adored this book. In my humble opinion it’s one of Ms. Stevens best, but then I love all her books so maybe I’m a little biased. This is Nico and Ford’s story. Two men on paper who probably should work together yet they are more alike than even they know. Nico is a young man who doesn’t believe in love any longer, needless to say he’s been hurt in his past, but he does love life in general. But his self esteem is pretty shattered when it comes to long term relationships. Then one day when an older, sexy man hops on the tour bus, Ford, Nico can’t help but stare and wonder what it would be like to be with a man like him. Ford is a dermatologist in NY for a conference. He too couldn’t help but stare at Nico, the younger sexy tour guide. But Ford has recently been hurt badly and starting anything, especially a one night stand, isn’t in the cards for him. But when fate steps in and the following month Ford shows up in NY again, they end up having a remarkable night together. A night that neither can forget, even after Ford has to return to his home/practice in Florida. But what happens when Ford starts showing up on Nico’s tour bus month after month?
This is a very special, sexy read that will warm your heart and hope for a happy ending for Nico and Ford. Grab this one asap… you won’t regret it.
When Nico first sees Ford, he can’t help but admire all of the man’s assets; how fun would it be to enjoy the older man for the night? When Ford finds himself face-to-face with the younger man, he feels things he hasn’t in a long time. Why not see what happens? Both of them change the rules, seeing what it might be like to know the other better. Love can be found even when unexpected; the professional can loosen up, and the playboy can date. Falling for each other isn’t easy, but it can be done regardless of the obstacles.
OPINION: This is a lovely romance between two men who just want to be loved. I very much liked Nico. He had his Italian roots and was still a little street but wanted to leave the neighborhood and make something of himself. Ford had been hurt, no longer believing in love, but opened his heart to this charming young man. Both characters are richly described, and the story is a fun, easy read. There is low angst, with a lot of New York adventure and traditional falling in love. It’s a very nice summertime read that you can pick up and put down while enjoying the pool or the beach.
SPICE: There are quite a few spicy scenes, but they are not graphic, with a lot of it implied and non-specific actions. It is not a close door; it is just not super spicy.
This is a sweet age gap romance with mild angst. Ford St. Clair, a dermatologist from Florida, is in New York City for work and decides to take a bus tour of New York City. Nico Andretti is the young, beautiful, and charismatic tour guide. They run into each other again later that night and spend time together. Soon Ford finds himself coming to New York and taking the tour again just to see Nico. Soon their no strings, long distance relationship turns serious. Each man has personal demons to face with Ford still having to work with his cheating ex and Nico being afraid that Ford will dump him due to his not being wealthy like a former lover did. As their relationship develops, they learn about each other's painful past. Ford tells Nico about growing up poor in a trailer park in Florida with an abusive mother and no idea who his father was. Nico tells Ford about his ex who was ashamed to be seen with him and also about growing up without a father. They each have to overcome their self doubts and finally believe that they are deserving of romantic love. I really enjoyed how the two characters communicated with each other and believed in each other. This was a really easy and enjoyable read.
