Not sure why I continued on with this series since the plot and the characters kind of stayed in the meh category for me.
As writers and readers we expect characters to evolve or at least change a little bit. The main character pretty much stayed the same Zelda. Sarcastic, sometimes to the point of being almost childish for her age of mid 40s. Her feelings towards Daniel and Baron felt the same to the point I was surprised that she all of a sudden said she had feelings for one of them and I just sat there confused, wondering if I missed something since I did not get an inkling of that. In this novel Zelda's mother comes into the picture and even though she could have been a more stronger character since we as readers had not gotten to know her she wasn't really very dimensional either.
As for the plot it was kind of all over the place and in times did not make sense. It didn't make sense for The ending was also very tidily wrapped up again with very little conflict which left this possible conclusion to the trilogy unsatisfying. I still have Poppy's novella to read but after these three I'm not sure I want to continue since although I love Poppy I'm not sure this particular version of New York and it's characters is intriguing enough to continue.

Nice conclusion for Zelda's story
This was a very satisfying conclusion to Zelda's story. Zelda's mom comes for a surprise visit, Jessica and Daniel are being weirder than normal, Berron and Poppy thankfully are their usual weird. But things still aren't right in New York. Zelda keeps hearing the voice of the Blessed leader she killed a few months ago, but she can't tell what he is trying to tell her. When she figures it out, it may be too late to do anything about it.
I really enjoyed the conclusion to Zelda's story. She did finally learn that even though she wanted to protect everyone, she didn't have to do it alone. Berron is a constant source of annoyance for her, but he is also just constant in her life, and she needs that. There was some serious heartbreak in here for me, and I will never forget the stunning description of the Vale of Amethysts, a place I wish I could visit. But Zelda and her friends were wonderful to visit and get to know in this series.
“Not being ‘normal,’” I said, “is our strength.”

Flames and Frying Pans is the third in the West Side Witches series by Kate Moseman. Vampires, Fairies and Witches, oh my. Plus, a sandwich shop, saving New York, and an unexpected visit from mom. There is a lot going on in Zelda’s life.
This is a cozy and short novel that is great for a quick read when it’s time to escape real life. Unfortunately, I didn’t read the first two in the series and missed the world building and magical set up for how all of the various factions work together. This made it seem a little disjointed but that is likely my fault rather than the author’s. I did love the missing person chase through various places in the city.

Another wonderful story. I’m enjoying watching Zelda learn more about her magic and what she can do with it. She is great at thinking quickly on her feet. She offed Prospero but is struggling a bit with the guilt of it after she wonders what she could have done differently. Luckily her mom comes to town and it is a good but tense distraction. Zelda keeps hearing Prospero call her name in a couple of places which isn’t helping with her guilt. Seems The Arcade isn’t done with Zelda and her family. The story takes a tragic turn that I didn’t see coming but am happy with the outcome. I am really enjoying this series and learning more about the characters. I listened to this book and it seemed to go by so quickly! Now I have to patiently wait for the next one!

I think I would have enjoyed it even more if I had read the first two books in series so that I knew the characters better. But it still was great clean fun! There was a lot of good creative imagination (There are magical creatures and mundane, (but still magical) creatures, characters I love (especially Zelda), set in NYC (great descriptions), and a terrific ending! All in all, a light, fun book.

A Totally Unique Story
A super natural story but a unique one. Zelda and her friends have to save New York from becoming a supernatural prison. How do you know you love someone? By the sacrifices they make for you. Completely filled with information not in usual supernatural books! Descriptions are so well written that they create excitement. Be prepared to read this in one sitting!

A fun read, and took me a second to decide that the “fights” in it was very sub par but that is okay!.!. Because the book brings other joys like found family, slowly falling in love and learning to accept life as it is.

Captivating!
This is a fascinating tale of humor, love, friendship, family, and magic. It’s fast paced, well written, and has a story line that’s chock full of mystery, action, and a bit of romance.
I enjoyed it immensely and highly recommend it.

It took me a second to remember what happened in the past books because it had been a while since I read them, but I had a good time with this one. It was fun to be back with these characters & their magical, whimsical world in NYC.

A sweet conclusion to the trilogy!

What a great way to end the series 👏 🙌. I loved this Littles series of books. I picked it up around Halloween and just gave it a chance. This last book tied it nicely together. Tears, love, drama, fights, and a perfect ending. I couldn't ask for a better little series. I say give it a whirl. I found it enjoyed to escape to a different world and fall into some magic.
