Sadie Braverman’s life is tightly controlled by her overbearing mother. She can’t take a breath without permission, and her father is useless. When her uncle, his wife, and his stepson come to stay with them after a fire her life spirals. The stepson? Her ex that she’s still recovering from.
Enter lifelong neighbor and frenemy Logan Kurowski. He’s counting down the days left of high school to escape his cold, empty house haunted by his dead father and the living ghost of his mother. Sadie needs a boyfriend, he needs a distraction, and the taste he’s always wanted of the girl next door.
Sadie needs someone to wake her rebel spirit. Logan needs anything to make him feel alive again. The more they learn about each other's reality, the harder they fall.
I honestly love a fake-dating trope and even more so when the MMC says NOPE we're really doing this, no faking. The dynamic between Logan and Sadie spanned their entire lives basically and I really liked that. Especially we get to see that as they were once close, then as they grew apart with age, they still had a silent bond. I love when the MMC is a safe-haven for an FMC (and vice versa) which Logan and Sadie definitely were for each other. The only thing that knocked this down for me was the ages of the MCs. I get that them being in high school/18 years old is a huge part of the plot but I think some of their experiences with each other and behaviors seemed very mature of being 18 years old. Other than that! Another banger from Ashley!
